A Preview of Coming Attractions?

No one at SDA is dispensing medical advice but if you or a loved one are suffering from Covid-19 symptoms, you may very well want to bring this and this to the attention of your physician. h/t Quicksilver

Anyone who has been watching Scott Adams’ twice-daily videos will have heard that, in his opinion, the US and other governments are deliberately holding off on any definitive proclamations of Hydroxychloroquine/Azithromycin/Zinc sulfate being a cure for Covid-19 until there is sufficient supply of these drugs available. Let’s hope that, behind the scenes, production is being ramped up very quickly.

  1. I can only concur that governemnts are deliberately holding off. Why I do not know but I suspect bureaucratice jealousy more than anything else. I t was 3 or 4 weeks ago when Wattsupwiththat highlighted three scientific publications describing the positive effects opf quinine.A

  2. 1. These protocols are already being used in ICUs.
    2. You are unlikely to receive these medications for prophylaxis. HCQ is now an Exception Drug Status (EDS) drug, meaning you need to meet several criteria to receive it. Even if you are able to convince your family physician to prescribe this medication and a pharmacist to fill it (good luck), you would need to get over this hurdle. Oh, and it’s backordered. Right now the aim is to ensure people with rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, etc. have access to this medication. See: http://formulary.drugplan.ehealthsask.ca/PDFs/March_24_2020_Formulary_Bulletin_185.pdf
    3. The studies to date have been low quality. Giving these medications to people in the ICU is one thing, prescribing en masse for prophylaxis another. We’ll have a better idea in a couple months.

    1. You can get quinine bfrom your local supermarket, it is in Tonic water. No problems almost ever. That has tyraduitionally been the Tonic in tonic water. Goes well with gin. Whtt the “official” sources are telling you are BS. An the Democrat governors who have banned its application are ctriminaqls.

      1. I have been mixing tonic water w grapefruit juice. Pretty tasty for my tastebuds.

I am sure I have had Wuhan early on as well as some coworkers and wives. The symptoms were spot on and no muscle ache unlike most flus. The quinine is just a precaution.

Vitamin C is a natural antihistamine so it will help the runny nose, etc if you do get any flu or cold.

      2. This is why our Queen is so healthy and her mother lived to 102. They both loved their “G’n’T’s (Gin and Tonics) and were known to become quite tipsy at Christmas time.

    2. As an off-label use of chloquine, this can be used by any American doctor, except in the couple states in which the idiot governors outlawed it. Hundreds of drugs are used off-label every day. It shouldn’t be a big deal — unless there are shortages. I’ve been on an off-label drug (LDN) for going on 10 years, normally used for addiction, but in very small doses it regulates the immune system, so greatly helps auto-immune diseases. It’s also common to use the cancer drug Avastin to inject into the eye in macular degeneration cases (had that too). Why is anybody even questioning this (in the US, anyway)?

      1. In B.C the College of Physician, College of Parmacy and Nurses have all joined together to ban this drug for the virus. As a retired pharmacist I wrote today to excoriate the College of Pharmacists.Their job is to dispense prescription as written by doctors and insure that the drug is taken as prescribed and insuring there is not an interaction with other medication they might be taking.
What they are doing is criminal and should result in legal action.

        1. Doctors hate it when other people know things that only they’re supposed to know.

  3. Holding off is the wrong thing; concentrate on makling the supply. Quinine works best at the early stages; even as a prophylatic. But when your lungs are full of shite and on a incubator, due to the effect of you immune system, it is colchycine you need.

    1. Today’s media wankers would have refused to air Churchill’s speeches. Can’t give people hope for change, unless it’s the right kind of hope and change.

    2. I disagree. President Trump was entirety correct in his messages. Essentially he said stay calm, take reasonable precautions, a lot of smart people around the world are working on solutions, and we will all get through this. Read or listen to the great people in leadership roles and they all have that in common when the situation looks grim.

Meanwhile, lots of smart people around the world are finding solutions, manufacturing medical supplies, and slowly the facts about Wuhan Flu are coming out. I take it seriously as I have family and friends in the high risk age groups, but my research-difficult because of a lot of horse hockey on both sides-has shown me it is not as bad as the hysterical people have made it sound.

We needed a calm voice. The President gave us that.

      1. I believe you replied to a message intended to be sarcasm against the mediots and dems.
They are now trying to cover their tracks by somehow suggesting President Trump mismanaged the whole thing, when they were the ones who protested against his travel restrictions, and they were the ones who said Hydroxychloroquine was a poison and a couple of misguided governors (who are not doctors) have forbidden doctors to prescribed it. They are the ones who will truly prove to have blood on their hands.
Why are they doing this? They are in a goal line stand to prevent President Trump from looking good. But TDS is once again fatal to their narrative.
        This is what I believe:
        1. The U.S. tries to report every case. But even in the U.S. early asymtomatic cases were not detected. Most other countries have only reported severe cases. So, just as in infant mortality rate, we look bad only because we are honest. Also, those are figures for number of cases, not on a per capita basis, wherein we are still much below Europe.
        2. OTOH, there is reason to believe, like in Italy, the number of deaths are over reported. According to a senior advisor to the Italian Department of Health, the death of anyone who entered a hospital with coronavirus is attributed to it, even though 99% had already at least one existing severe condition of another illness, and two thirds with two.
        3. If you look at the Corona Tracker, the number of cases are leveling off, even in Italy. I do not believe the projected 100K to 200K death figure for the U.S. That is at least 10 times too high if you look at the trends of the Corona Tracker. There are a couple of reasons:
3A. That is the nature of the flu season in general. They attack and kill the most susceptible in the beginning, so the death rates are front loaded.
3B. I believe we are getting a handle on it, both in the detection (and thus more efficient isolation) and in the cure, which is the subject of this thread. The earlier the detection is, the more efficient the cure will also be. The good news is all the drugs involved had been used for a long time, so both side effects and method of production are well known. In many malaria afflicted countries, Hydroxychloroquine is so common it is off the counter.

I got the link to the Corona Tracker, which is updated daily, off this website:
        https://andrecalerovaldez.shinyapps.io/CovidTimeSeries/

        1. “If you look at the Corona Tracker, the number of cases are leveling off, even in Italy. ”

It does not look like it at all. On your link (that I have been following for days) the scales are logarithmic hence the leveling off is driven entirely by the scale alone. Take a look graphs with linear scales: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/italy/ the best we can conclude is that the numbers of new cases and the numbers of deaths are no longer increasing every day relative to the preceding day i.e. the cumulative distributions are no longer convex on the right end, and indeed they begin to resemble more of a straight line. So the good news may be on the second derivative only. That is not a particularly good news. Or rather the good news is that the news is no longer absolutely terrible and merely pretty terrible. Another way to look at it is the bar graphs with daily new cases and daily new deaths. They are still awful it is just that today is no more awful than yesterday.

          1. Thank you for the high falutin’ instructions on what logarithmic means. Gosh, you woulda thunk i woulda know that, what with a doctorate in theoretical physics and all. (I don’t usually flaunt that, but in your case I will make an exception.)
That’s exactly what I mean by leveling off, linearly increasing instead of exponentially increasing. Yes, exactly, the good news is the decrease in the second derivative. Linearly increasing means the second derivative has gotten to zero. Hopefully the next step will be for it to go negative, meaning the number of new cases going down. And if you had looked at the rest of my post, you would have realized that it isn’t just a vain hope that that can be true.
You will notice the current number of deaths is about 2000. I have made allowances for it to go up as high as 20,000, which is one tenth of the upper bound of 200,000 now given. While of course 20,000 is still horrible, it is comparable to the numbers of people who seasonally die from the garden variety flu. Overall, the CDC estimates that 12,000 and 61,000 deaths annually since 2010 can be blamed on the flu.

          2. Yes, I have looked at your post and pointed out one statement that was wrong or at the very least confusing to a casual reader. I have addressed you respectfully. You don’t have to react like a scarred prima donna over it.

As for your PhD, congrats. Mine is bigger than yours.

          3. The statement was not wrong. It said exactly what I meant to say, and what I meant to say was exactly correct. And if after my explanation you still think the statement was wrong, well then either your understanding of math or English is defective.
You did NOT address me respectfully. You addressed me as being mathematically illiterate, and had no idea what a logarithmic scale meant. And you were very high handed in doing it.
So your PhD is bigger? Bigger than theoretical high energy physics? Prithee what is it in? Besides, I only mentioned it so you would know that others on this board might possibly know what a log scale meant.

          4. Get over yourself hobbit fanboy. You have said:

“If you look at the Corona Tracker, the number of cases are leveling off, even in Italy. I do not believe the projected 100K to 200K death figure for the U.S.”

No they are not, the number of cases is still growing. So no, you were not right, you were wrong. However, I understand after your last response what you meant, and we are in agreement.

And I am being charitable here. If I was not being charitable I could point out that you were referring above to counts not growth rates, so your subsequent explanation, while correct, does not jive with the statement I have originally quoted. First rule of holes and all that.

And I have shown you more respect than you have earned and despite that you’re still a pompous twat. I don’t need to tell you about my PhD, Because, you see, I don’t use them as an argument. And yes, mine is bigger than yours. I am certain of it right now. In any case, it is internet and an anonymous forum so I don’t care if you believe me. Because you don’t matter hobbit fanboy. Because in the end you’re still just an empty, shallow twat, demanding respect for no merit whatsoever.

    3. If he hadn’t forced the issue, we wouldn’t know about it, and the government wouldn’t have gotten involved to increase the supply. E media would have completely ignored it if not for the Presidents remarks.

He does this all the time, on purpose. You’d think the media would have caught on by now. He trolls them to get coverage of important issues.

  4. Seeing as how we are not dispensing medical advice, let me add this.
The British military invented Tonic Water some 150 or so years ago with an ingredient named “quinine” which supposedly helped in reducing malaria. They also added Gin, with the result being “Gin & Tonic” which was a mandatory ration every soldier was forced to take when they were in the tropics.
I am holding a can of Canada Dry Tonic Water in my hand right this moment, and one of the ingredients listed on the can is “HYDROCHLORURE DE QUININE”.
    Time for a drink perhaps?
Check out Tonic Water at Wikipedia for more information. (Before it gets deleted )

    1. But even a litre of Schweppes Tonic Water has only 35mg of quninine. You need 500 mg per day for at least 5 days. The sugar you drink in that time will give you diabetes.

    2. there were other foods developed for the British army overseas to prevent harmful effects of off colour foods, HP sauce, Worcestershire (wooster) sauce. Others come to
mind. Words like posh meaning port out starboard home giving a comfortable trip in the heat of the tropics.

  5. If this is true, I just can’t wait to see how MSM spins this to make Trump look bad.

  6. “France Sanctions Chloroquine After 78 Of 80 Patients COMPLETELY Recover From COVID-19 Within Five Days”

“This ensures continued treatment of patients who have been treated for several years for a chronic condition with this drug, but also allows a temporary authorization to allow certain patients with coronavirus to benefit from this therapeutic route,” France’s Director General of Health Jérôme Salomon said.”

  7. Thank you Robert for posting something positive. I was going to put a question in to Reader Tips tonight to see if anyone has gotten any useful information. I was also going to add this:

    https://www.jns.org/teva-to-send-millions-of-tablets-to-us-hospitals-for-possible-treatment-of-virus/

The article states that 6 million doses of Hydroxycholoroquine Sulphate will be delivered by March 31st with another 10 million in a month. The optimist in me hopes that a company is not sending that many doses for a publicity campaign. I believe Bayer is also ramping up production. (At least what little i have found, perhaps some better internet sleuths can clarify and confirm this)

I truly hope and pray that it does work. Of course, the fact that the life saving drug comes from Israel will be problematic for the leftist zealots who demand that we boycott Israel. I am sure the likes of Jeremy Corbin will be first to say no to any life saving medication because it comes from a freedom loving, rights respecting democracy and not a totalitarian regime like China.

If it does save millions of lives, we can expect CNN, MSNBC, New York Times et al. to harp on about the two fools from Arizona that took HydroxyChloroquine PHOSPHATE (fish tank cleaner) Truly, truly discouraging.

I hope that you are also right about them stockpiling it to prepare as there will be a greater run on this than toilet paper!

Chris in the Bridge (In quarantine!)

  8. Last thing the Dems and derp state want is a solution.
Hence their slow walking requirements of study’s that will take a couple of months for results.

There is a study in Minnesota going on that is testing the efficacy of chloroquine ONLY

    This will not be effective

Then they can say it doesn’t work or has mixed results.

Trump needs to get the doc from NY who has successfully treated covid in 500 people with the chloroquine, zpac and zinc protocol.

    That is what works.

Good interview with Gulliani with this guy that explains why.

The kicker is the cost of it is 20 dollars. That’s all

    1. I believe flu in general is normally transmitted by droplets, including Wuhan Flu. But I am just a layman as far as medicine is concerned.

  9. 100% success rate does not exist in even the most successful clinical trials. Has he provided data to the CDC? Maybe he is right but this gives me pause because clinicians are usually much more cautious in their findings.

    1. Given that, A, the sample size is under a hundred, and B, his criterion for success is the patient not dying, the success rate is possible.
Were he to define success as the patient fully recovering, the number may be very different. Perhaps he is trying to push his treatment. If so, more power to him. Are you aware of any other better than his?
The French also had a study of 98 patients with the same treatment. 2 died, but both had extenuating circumstances. Of course, then, you would say, well, over 2 percent is what you’d get with no treatment.

  10. The good news is that the Virus is not transferred during Sexual relations, with a one caveat… The Person to person physical contact must be less than ~25 minutes… So get some spring in your ass & no nesting

    1. Can’t wait for our Chicom masters to recall him like they did with other party secretaries in Wuhan and few other places.

  11. http://www.townhallmail.com/xgcldymplljtdplptpdhmtnbbctbbpcmsshyqdjdgbcppdg_hbmqwmhmqnhzvcmccnmvnn.html?a=&b=&c=d4f740b4916f8256a00cbbc70487974b&d=26878207

Sounds like we may finally be hearing more about the results of Hydroxycloroquine clinical trials in NYC. (Sure hope none of the highly Democrat support weighted MDs in NYC have been “slow walking” getting this treatment in play. You don’t think any of them might be doing this on purpose, do you? Tragically, I am afraid, in the TDS environment the USA current finds itself in, there might some….., Truly pray that is not the case.
