An investigation is underway in Saskatchewan and Alberta after a doctor who attended a curling bonspiel in Edmonton tested positive for COVID-19.
 
Dr. Allan Woo, president of the Saskatchewan Medical Association, says in a letter to members that he tested positive for the virus last night.
 
He says the bonspiel, which was held from March 11-14 in Edmonton, was attended by 50 to 60 doctors from across Western Canada.

*I probably shouldn’t have done that, but my inner 14 year old was adamant.

  2. How is this even possible? The very people in this country who are supposedly the most highly educated about the threat, upon whom we are most dependent for good decision making, AND who will be having the most direct personal contact with the most vulnerable, are making decisions that a 10 year old would know better than to make . Every Dr who attended that bonspiel now needs to be in quarantine, be tested for COVID-19, and have their medical licenses suspended. Unbelievable!

    1. Now that I have calmed down a bit, the bit about suspending licenses may have gone too far, nonetheless the irresponsibility of these Dr.s is mind boggling.

        2. I am a life long Steely Dan (Donald Fagen) freak. I still listen to their recordings regularly. When I used to play in bands back in the 70s, we played many SD songs.

          It’s not hard to figure that their sophisticated Rock, Funk, Jazz and Soul music mash would appeal to brighter folks … like the ones who frequent this site. There is no music like that which SD and The Donald produce. As unique as Zappa, but not as insane … Zappa was insane. Very different bag, but unique it was. SD was more pleasant music of course … most interesting chord structures and their lyrics were great stories with a lot of inside stuff.

This is very similar to the wife of the Prime Minister swanning off to Britain on an unnecessary speaking engagement and taking her mother-in-law ( who is in the most vulnerable age group) with her. It appears we cannot trust even the people supposedly at the top to use their heads. We are all trying so hard in a time of crisis to be nonpartisan that we are ignoring the most egregious example of sloppy thinking. I agree with you. It’s unbelievable. But we move forward anyway. There is no taking it back and I suppose nothing served by pointing it out.

  9. We closed our church of 300 on Friday 13th. There were ones saying we shouldn’t knee jerk react. But we made the responsible decision. We aren’t doctors, scientists, politicians. We’re common folk. But we chose to do the right thing. To read this from those who are heralding the urgency is so disturbing on so many levels.

    If this isn’t the awakening that is needed in the land. To look up and see our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.

You should be looking up to him/her/it so you can slurp your white guilt. How dare you even think criticism. This is silent insubordination. Just remember not too long ago your intersectional section of the Mandarin Orange of Peoplekind were burning witches, flogging slaves, and pulling apart unpopular leaders with teams of horses. You should feel guilty and pay your taxes. Now I have to find someone to clean up this mess.

  17. I tried googling the term “curling bonspiel ” but my family filter is on and it won’t display the results. Now I’m just stuck trying to imagine what sort of filthy perverted sex act these doctors were all engaged in. I wish one of you Canadians would drop me a hint as to what exactly a curling bonspiel might be. Is it anything like the triple reverse peach picker?

    1. My brushcut hair’s being curled because of the radio toys that arrived earlier today. I spent most of this evening getting them to work.

  20. Maybe the price of Poom Poom has fallen through the floor in Vegas like it has in Jamaica. It’s so cheap now that even the locals can afford a little…the girls are still offering it, just at a reduced price. Supply and demand.
