Trudeau Rolls Out Massive Borrowing Package

Liberal government suspends systematic destruction of the Canadian economy to announce emergency aid to the economy;

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has unveiled a sweeping $27-billion emergency aid package that offers immediate and direct help to Canadians and businesses, plus $55-billion in tax deferrals, to help them survive the severe economic downturn caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The massive stimulus package will inject cash into businesses to keep workers on the payroll even if they have been sent home and bolstering federal benefits and employment insurance programs.

“The measures we are announcing today will provide up to $27-billion in direct support to Canadian workers and businesses, plus $55-billion to meet liquidity needs for Canadian businesses and households through tax deferrals to help stabilize the economy,” he said. “This $82-billion in support represents more than 3 per cent of Canada’s GDP.”

The Prime Minister told a news conference that Ottawa is taking direct action to help Canadians who don’t qualify for employment insurance or don’t have access to paid sick leave.

“Our government will introduce the emergency care benefit which will provide money every two weeks to workers who have to stay home,” he said. “People will receive this benefit for 14 weeks for an amount comparable to the amount that would be paid through EI.”

The new benefit will apply to Canadians who fall ill and have to self-isolate, he said.

Nothing about the carbon tax, oddly enough.

  1. And I’m sure Blackie will still be ramping up his global warming scams and pouring money into the bank accounts of Indian chiefs.

  2. Yea…one can see the effect right away.

CAD is sitting at 0.69 USD and dropping like a stone. Every item we buy to survive will now cost more…and continue to rise in price as 90% of what we consume is imported.
    Way to go MORONS.
Had you actually given a shit about the economy the past 5 years ..?

Each and every one of you Fking 338 Bits of Trough Feeding – Virtue Signalling – Climate Changing GARBAGE deserve a NOOSE.

    1. Blackie is throwing $82,000,000,000 in aid around. That’s 3% of our GDP.

      Alberta oil worthless
      Our Canadian peso worthless
Two flights incoming to Vancouver from China today. One last night into YYZ

      But Justin is wonderful
      Trump is racist

      1. Does Canada have an equivalent to the 25th Amendment? Perhaps Justin is “too ill” by the virus he contracted from Sophie to be making executive decisions?

        1. If we did, we would have removed his father from office permanently more than 40 years ago, thereby possibly sparing us from his catastrophe of a son becoming prime minister.

          1. I rarely disagree with you Deplorable but surely you can’t seriously think that sane Canadians out numbered the turdo mainiacs in sufficient numbers to turf him for his megalomania?

          2. Well, we tried in ’78 when we elected Joe Who. PET “resigned” after the election but was “persuaded” to come back and western Canada suffered for it. Had we had something like the 25th Amendment, that phony-baloney resignation could have become permanent by law.

          3. re DLM’s 2:06PM post and turdo mania…

Someday, like the late V. Quisling, our current ‘leader’ may inspire a word, or maybe several words added to the English language, as existing words may not be adequate.

“‘turdomania’ is a serious mental condition which if allowed to infect a modern western country, quickly reduces it to a ‘turdocracy’ staffed by ‘turdocrats’ irreversably converting wealth into ‘turdonium’…”

            etc. etc.

(I could go on, but I have to give my stomach a rest now.)

          4. I moved to Alberta in 75 so I would be on the right side when the war started. I can still hardly believe that we stood for that shit. I remember Jo Who. I contributed to his campaign. I cannot now remember what made me think he would be an effective leader but I had expectations at the time. I expected central Canada would be reasonable or we would separate. I was prepared for blood shed and I thought there were enough like minded Albertans to get the job done.
I remember that suffering too. I worked out of Edmonton. More than half a dozen of the guys I worked with were from just east of Montreal. They all bought brand new houses in a brand new subdivision just east of Edmonton. All but three of them had to walk away from their mortgages. Two managed, with Herculean effort, to hold on to their homes. The other one blew his brains out. Yet they still, all but one, said turdo was a genius and the best thing that ever happened to Canada.
It was mostly that crew, along with some other eastern acquaintances, that I was referring to as turdomainiacs. There are an amazing number of them.

        2. Kenji, soapy doesn’t have a BBC to shove into the turd, to transmit the woohan flue

        3. If Trudeau is ill it’s more likely from sharing needles with the ‘friends’ he met on the beaches of Costa Rica over Christmas while his wife and family holidayed here

      2. And think of all that cultural enrichment just pouring in across the border, courtesy of the Roxham Roadrunners. You should be rejoicing at all that diversity just waiting to strengthen what’s left of this country.

    2. Trudeau has needed this agreement with Trump for weeks . The BLOC put the boots to Turdo last night when the adopted The REBEL position on Roxham Road illegals. When the Bloc shouted jump Shiny jumped. He finally chose the US over China — in the short term at least. Trump will have gotten everything he wanted .

    3. Just checked at the bank and $1.00USD = $1.50CAD. That likely puts a smile on Trudeau’s face.

      1. The future generations that are obliged to pay back all these rounds of stimulus spending will have to have a solid century of boom times without any of the kind of issues we have. Even so, they won’t pay it down because future politicians will still have to purchase the one thing that parasites and idle mongers have that is of any value to anyone and that is their vote.

        1. Future generations? The current generation would have to pare programs down, fire civil servants, etc., or there is simply nothing that will stop the fire. It’s all gonna burn, one way or another.

Imagine the entire city of Ottawa out of work; that would be a start.

    4. Every time that cretin opens his mouth, my net worth goes down.

  3. Furey at the Toronto Sun writes that Blackie recently gave China over 16 tons of medical supplies to fight their virus. Maybe the little moron can explain that to his loyal media.

    1. Maybe the little moron can explain that to his loyal media.

It won’t matter. They’ll sing his praises, no matter what he does.

  4. This is one of those times where massive state borrowing is warranted.

Now as for all the OTHER things for which Liberals like to borrow money.. not so much. Perhaps if Canadians truly gave a damn about having the fiscal house in order we wouldn’t have such governments in the first place. Alas Canadians have had it too easy too long and never thought a time like this would come. Perhaps this will teach a number of them. We shall see.

    1. When it comes to elections where the choice is voting for adulthood or Santa Clause the myth always seems to garner the most votes for some odd reason.

      1. There are enough people in Canada who would vote differently if they got any amount of true information. We’ve all talked to people who pay little attention to what the government or the Prime Minister is doing and the only information they might get comes major television or print news. Unlike Western Canadians, there have been hardly any events that have impacted them directly and are the result of government policies. I have close members of my family who are like that. I spoke with someone yesterday who admits to being apolitical and what “knowledge” he has about our governments is from major news outlets. He’s far from a partisan, he’s just ignorant of what’s really going on.
Furey, Lilley and others at the Sun don’t have enough reach and are undermined by other PostMedia coverage. Levant, Post Millennial, True North, Cats Fur, SDA and others don’t have enough reach, same in the US. Great online outfits but not enough eyeballs.
Our enemy knows all this. In Canada they bought the major news outfits to ensure that their message continues to be the message that is delivered.
        Enemies. Of. The. People.

    2. There are those Canadians that actually thought of dire straights, though nobody was listening.
The money they are going to spend is so large, you can buy a whole other country for. Yer grandchildren are going to be paying big time, if there is a country left.

It is interesting to note that if they did not collect income taxes people would have more money to spent if they chose so.
      My bad.
Its the government sinecure that gotta have it not the payers.
Bombardier, SNC Lavalin, Ford, General Motors ……

  5. How much of that is going to line the pockets of LPC leadership?
Their fingers are always sticky, even during the pandemic.

  6. And of course there are no details so this is all off the cuff.
Let the payoffs to their Liberals connections continue.

  7. This is why it is so important for governments to behave responsibly and practice good policy and money management when things are normal. Now, we have a national emergency and a government enforced shutdown of the economy to fight the emergency and so the government is also responsible for addressing the economic shutdown, which requires major expenditures.
The bigger issue is going to be at provincial and local levels where governments have left no margin for error and have no plans for dealing with emergencies or disasters and no fiscal capacity to save them from themselves (my city of Calgary comes to mind).

  8. Three hundred million dollars to be poured into Indian reserves to fight the virus. New pickup trucks and flat screen TVs for everyone.

  9. The truth is out there. And it sure is not with Canadas so called media. This sick creep that bought these presstitutes off ,should be in jail, not handing out freebees unless of course it’s from the Turdo foundation and their stolen money the Panama papers revealed.

  10. Kiss the Frigate and CF18 replacement program goodbye.
Maybe Bulgaria will leaselend us kit in 2030.

    1. LOL.
Blackie can always delay procurement until a CINO #LibCons gov’t fucks it up, as per sop

  11. Donald Trump has, finally, slammed the door in Chinada’s face.

Alberta oil will remain welcome—it will be needed to fuel US manufacturing and put Americans back to work re-building the supply chains that decades of globalist governments outsourced to China.

It you commuted daily over the border for work, consider yourself terminated.

And there’s a limit to how long Canadians will continue to accept bank-confetti as payment for goods and services.

  12. Speaking of loyal media, yesterday on TVO a panel of Italian experts on coronavirus were discussing why that country was so hard hit. Boris Johnson and Donald Trump were specifically named (as doing nothing to stop the coronavirus in their respective countries) while no other leaders were named directly. When it came to Italy, they all agreed that Europe has abandoned the country (therefore it is Europe’s fault). No mention of the politicians being slow to react. And when it came time to criticizing Canada they used the term “Canada” and not Trudeau or the Liberals directly. They did not say “the UK government” or “the US government” but instead Johnson or Trump. One panelist even invoked Rob Ford but then gave him a bit of pass with a minor dis that finally he seemed to be taking things seriously. No Liberals or Democrats were directly criticized. I am constantly amazed that the Liberals and Democrats never do anything wrong.

  13. Yup! Liberals laughing all the way to the bank.
No wonder they kept the planes flying and the borders open for so long. The bigger the problem, the more money they borrow. The added bonus is that they kill off a pant-load of elderly conservative voters.
And! Liberals are also cementing their power base. When the fan stops chopping shit, they get to brag about how well they did helping the Canadian middle class in the Corona Crisis of 2020. Along with the MSM who will bury their sloth-like response from the get-go, the propaganda will sing their praises.

    1. Nope. The media love him. No matter how this ends he will come out of it smelling like roses and be elected for another 24 years.

  14. Why are we buying Saudi oil? Maybe we should be using our own?!?
We had better start sourcing our stuff domestically. Just a thought.

    1. We are still buying Saudi oil because oil has to be moved from point A to point B. If you are moving bulk oil there are two ways to do it, by ship, and by pipeline…

  15. Trudeau’s love of China has come back to bite him( and all of us) in the ass It was on his watch the virus went from the lab In Winnipeg to wuhan and now to the rest of the world. Remind all your friends of that.

    1. HT, and they just won’t liten. I had that discussion with my brother the other day, and also about climate change, and zing, rite over his head. He is not stupid, just brain washed. Also , like me, he can weather this thing out.

    1. We’ll be lucky if Dear Leader doesn’t abolish them altogether.

    2. He just bought his majority. His weirdo father did the same after a minority election win. Liberals are pond scum. Trudeaus are beneath shit.

  16. Does anyone recall the Gomery Inquiry? From that we learned that the Liberals took 17.5% off the top. By now it must be more. But let’s say that it’s still the same amount.

KaChing! What is 17.5% of 82 Billion? Answer $14,350,000,000.

Yes the Liberal coffers are now flush full of cash. They just have to find the cash to print it on. The Foundation is doing well too, after this.

Trudeaumania is here to stay! Venezuela here we come!

Yes every time that fellow opens his mouth up our net worth goes to the dogs.

Oh and no need for elections, (Dr B A) the natural governing party will take of everyone from cradle to grave.

Oh, “and Soapie is a few billion enough now? We’re rich!”
“Yes Justie let’s buy the mansion in the Carribean now.”

JT Act 3 and soliloquy over:
Twinkle twinkle eyes, and smiles, exit stage left!

  17. Zimbabwe Mon.
At the rate we are heading for the 40 cent(US) dollar of Can Ahh Duh,whats another billion or trillion in government spending?
For it is backed by nothing.
So 82 billion or 750 trillion is same as zero x zero, worthless paper.
Alberta better jump now, while we still can.

The government sponsored media is awash in talking bobble heads..Oh sorry Ministers of the Crown, who talk a lots, yet say little of use to anyone.
Every utterance = confidence in this government dives a little more steeply.

No hockey, soon now beer..Looks bad for the Pollies.
Cause every sports fan is sure to love Madame Guillotine.

  18. Nobody has bothered to ask, who does he think is going to buy the paper for the massive borrowing package?
and when he floods the market with this paper, what effect is it going to have on the existing debt?

it’s entirely within the realm of possibility that the net result is an eventual Canadian Government Default

  19. If he wants to help Canadians right now, why doesn’t he get rid of the carbon tax? Oh wait, now that he’s a dictator with the opposition gone, he can go full steam with his global warming scams.

  20. So basically the people who already get government handouts via GST rebates and thousands in Child tax/baby bonuses get more money, then the rich corporations but nothing is being done for those who have lost their life savings in the markets or the elderly. Typical those who get the most continue to get more free goberment stuff. On the upside I’m now retired and have nothing left to give the socialist parasites.

    1. Exactly.

Justin defines his MIDDOW CLATH as those who receive gubmint dole, and he ups the dole, cuz Liberal.

If you’re not on the handout circuit, WELL THEN, YOU MUST BE RICH! Certainly not MIDDOW CLATH

While there are definitely innocent people being hung out to dry, who do need some form of basic support, it seems its the Liberal brainwashed millenials being the focus of largesse.

We’re just self-supporting knuckledraggers, who’ve looked after our affairs and paid our bills and made shrewd decisions. And we will be taxed for it accordingly. Last on the list that Liberals acknowledge, they would be happy if we died off.

    1. Along the same lines, has our dollar gone below US 50 cents? There is also a colossal amount of money going to banks in interest rates for all of this borrowing. Many Liberals will find a home at the Bank of Montreal once they get the boot. Liberals may disappear, but that debt won’t disappear.

      1. That’s another reason to keep cutting the interest rates. Gubmint borrowing becomes virtually interest free.

Let those taps run! The millenials will be stuck with that bill, while we are gumming our peas to mush………..

  21. Something to ponder:

“Chinese researcher escorted from infectious disease lab amid RCMP investigation”
    https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/chinese-researcher-escorted-from-infectious-disease-lab-amid-rcmp-investigation-1.5211567

Note the first sentence: Public Health Agency of Canada describes it as a possible ‘policy breach,’ no risk to Canadian public.

“A Level 4 virology facility is a lab equipped to work with the most serious and deadly human and animal diseases. That makes the Arlington Street lab one of only a handful in North America capable of handling pathogens requiring the highest level of containment, such as Ebola.”

      1. “Its just a conspiracy theory!”

The timing and Chinese national/army personnel, makes this more than just a conspiracy.

  22. Justine is probably considering selling Alberta and using the profits to support efforts to stop global warming.
