    Flew back from Hawaii Feb 27th to YVR. Enhanced security measures? ONE PLACARD about the virus is NOT enhanced security, as you approach the caterpillar lines. No one, and I mean not one of the multiple CBSA agents and pissant line controllers (annoying little muffins they are) ever asked anyone around us, if we were sick, had symptoms or anything.

    “Where were you, how long were you there? Here you go, NEXT!”

    We were in a tightly packed caterpillar lineup of around a thousand or so people.

    Don’t worry, Governor. You can just send all your extra patients up here to Canada. Our borders are wide open. Diversity is our strength.

  7. Was at Costco earlier in the week midday. Not any busy than usual.
    When going thru the door they had two employees wiping off the shopping cart handles.
    Watched the employee on my side wipe down three carts in front of me with the same cloth.
    Laughing I told her get another wipe as I had NO idea how many carts she “sanitized”.
    That’s the type of “Enhanced Measures” you’ll get from CBSA.

        1. All statistics are suspect. The population is not being tested, even randomly sampled. The stats collected rely upon self-reporting during the ‘flu and cold season. It is reckonized many do not have symptoms or confuse them for the above colds or ‘flu.

          It will take a while to unravel it all. But I see nothing here to warrant the hysteria. Governments are assuming the worst and that is their health systems being overwhelmed. Unfortunately theiractions are causing hysteria.

          Here are the Canadian influenza stats for this year. Which is more dangerous? Put that question another way: What should we fear the msot, the known or the unknown?

          And there’s the source of hysteria, ably abetted by well-intentioned and defensive government actions.

          1. Agreed. Am tracking that site, extracting the stats daily and pro-rating at various levels of infection and death, based on almost worst case scenarios underway.
            This is Stage 5 level hysteria. Sure, there’s potential to be much worse, but this is not the Plague, far from it.
            From current projections, Canada will incur less than 500 deaths. That’s still too many, but does not equal the hysteria levels. US should be under 4,000 deaths. In a country of 340 Million? Unless it runs roughshod through the homeless shanty towns, and the Black ghettos, this shouldn’t equate to the level of fear and loathing currently underway.
            Unfortunately, the economic damage will last far longer than the outbreak.

  9. Governments around the world are halting the economy and civic life to avoid the health care systems being overwhelmed. I’ve always thought collecting all the sick people together isn’t a good idea.

    These totalitarian methods will in future be considered as exemplary to the methods required to save the planet from the evil CO2, just like the Montreal Protocol on the imaginary ozone hole (it\s always been there and is quite natural)

    I didn’t realize she has a medical background. Thought she was a ‘journalist’. Avis Favreau is another ‘medical specialist’ who practices medicine without a license.

  14. Our family of eight, ages 70 through 4 returned from a Caribbean Princess cruise with 3500 passengers on Feb. 29th. Flying into Vancouver on our return, there was zero screening of passengers – not a question asked – nor was there any means of maintaining ‘social distance’. I guess there’s little point when you’ve just come off a fully packed aircraft where there’s two feet between you and the guy across the aisle.

  15. The interesting thing in the next few weeks will be to see if the government(?) has put as much thought into rationing as they have into screening at the airports. From what I’m seeing on the internet, the food supply chain is under threat, I’ve never seen so many empty shelves in so many stores in my long life. This I fear has the portent to be a replay of shortages in Britain and Europe in the war torn 1940’s. Perhaps a wake up call for the many people that think they can save the world with their climate tax, open borders and unlimited mass migration. The health care systems developed in the Western world was never imagined to be prepared for a Twenty-First Century bubonic plague, H*ll, social health care that was developed over the last century was at the breaking point before this contagion reared its ugly head. Perhaps we can all thank God that it has happened now before the Green New Deal kicked in and we’d be relying on pixie dust and unicorn farts to build all of the hospitals that are going to be required.

    1. I ran by the local coop this morning at 8:00. Shelves are full except pasta, flour, and interestingly oatmeal. (With all the extra oats people have bought, I now understand the TP).

      Staff was commenting on the flour. “Why is there no flour?“ I chuckled, the yeast was untouched. I guess we are all on team unleavened now.

      1. I saw the same thing Yesterday Alec.. Co-op in Shawnessy & mirrored at the Wally Mart down the street. Wally and Coop both had plenty of meat protein of all kinds, lots of Fresh veggies – fruits etc. Just low on paper prod and flour/pasta type stuff. When we went to Costco (17th Ave SE). to grab a box of Coffee pods and a 4 pack of blue Bacon, there was NO Meat of any kind whatsoever – Busy but no stupid outside line up.

        I heard from my Daughter this aft that Beacon HIll Costco had folks in a 1/2 Km line up in -23 degree weather yesterday….?? MADNESS & For what, Toilet paper ffs..?? Now THAT’S beyond ‘Tupid….but not surprising – place is always a ZOO. I steer clear of that whole centre- always.

        I’d sooner drive from Walden to Cross Iron. (35km)…or Okotoks.

    2. It’s interesting that they’re already putting stories out there about triage in Italy and how anyone over 40 is not getting intubated and will instead be sent to the death tent. You’ll notice a pattern with media stories around crises, at least I have. First they tell you there’s no way X will happen HERE because of Y. Then they’ll say ok maybe it could happen but probably won’t. It’s all about softening you up to the eventuality when it IS happening here. Anyway that’s what the stories about Italy are about. When you see the triage/death tents go up at the local hospital you’ll know it’s time.

    The government of Canada appears to be as though in a drama play.
    Somehow, the prime minister and his ministers pronounce things and then pretend that those things are happening and reality is almost opposed to the pronouncements.
    There was this woman, they call her sometimes deputy prime minster.
    In answer to the question by the still leader of the opposition she goes on, very much in the fashion of the prime minister talks about Canadians this and that and has absolutely no idea what Canadians think.
    Of course the deputy with the approval of the cabal that runs Canada, writes the script that the prime minister remembers as was his thing when he was a drama teacher.
    Come to think of it, the ministers of Canadian government also learn the scrip that the cabal writes for them and that is why the inactions of the government of Canada are covered in the drama, scripted for public consumption in hope nobody notices the dramatic act.
    It could be that the cabal that runs them are all those supreme, the bestest experts in the world are absolutely, positively working on Canadian problems.
    When the prime minister and his deputy tell the cameras that the magnificent experts are on the case, everyone else should admire their work, roll over and play dead.
    One thing though is troubling, not one but all of the problems seem to go from bad to worst.
    Then the prime minister in his best dramatic presentation reminds Canadians that they are on it and working hard for Canadians and future Canadians and on and on and ……
