    1. The Saudi King sacked the last Crown Prince for losing the fight with US Oil. All that happened was US plant conversion and enough infrastructure embedded to ensure Saudis had no strangled-hold to bottle-up American oil in its own land. They and Obama literally tried to “force” America to defy Physics, trying to make American light-sweet crude less profitable than Saudi heavy sour imported across the world.

      Now, he’s sending his latest Crown Prince after Russian Oil market shares – while trying to jilt Trump into not reacting. The last thing the Saudis want is for the US and Russia to coordinate a response – creating a quasi counter-OPEC (which would actually not be hard to do despite what some of my colleagues think about the fractal nature of the US “free-market” industry).

      Trump and America have other interests regarding China, Europe and the Western Hemisphere – Russia and Iran are only ancillary concerns. Just as the Saudis are trying to leverage America against the latter two, so is America leveraging the Saudis for its own purposes.

      America has a lot of pressure points at its fingertips – controlling Syrian oil fields, the US Air Force’s omnipresent ability to provide intelligence, the US Navy’s support and blockade any other country’s trade and free-movement, putting holds on financial instruments and sanctions, shafting China, isolating Iran….

      It’s laughable to watch the Saudis squirm, knowing they want to “diversify” their economy away from oil, knowing that they are stuck with oil because they’re just sand negroes with about as much civility as Africans, knowing that nobody (not even Saudis) wants to invest in Saudi pioneering research and development and infrastructure (they get shallow tech transfers and pretty baubles, but that’s all they are…”baubles”, eye candy with no future to build a worthwhile legacy and civilization anywhere close to that of America) because their people are Muslim barbarians.

      I was really hoping Musk or Cook or Iger would seriously invest in Saudi Arabia, just to watch them get taken, but it seems even they’re not dumb enough to forget that their investments would be held hostage faster than the Chinese rope-a-dope.

    In the past day or so, a new group has been formed to have a shake at Canada’s broken confederation. They do mention the Buffalo Declaration in their webpage, and appear to want a better deal with Old Canada before picking up stakes and heading for home.
    In speaking with many people that I work with and meet, there appears to be some local support for this, that is to at least formally ask for a change in the structure of Canadian federalism. (I’m not in Cowtown at the moment, but in Fort McMurray for a few more weeks of work).
    I’m doubtful the eastern welfare dependencies will ever give up their preferred status within confederation, or that central Canada will give up the current tax structure that pays for their welfare ways, in particular PEI who’s gov’t is dependent upon Alberta’s equalization for roughly 20% of their general revenue. Nor the eastern over representation within parliament, the Atlantic provinces having 70-80k citizens per MP (PEI has 40k citizens per MP) while Alberta-BC have more than 130k citizens per MP.

    I think a better plan would be to simply separate from Old Canada, but try to understand the idea of having to at least negotiate first, though I’m certain that will fail. I’m not interested in an incremental change to confederation. It’s broken, not “sick”.

So now he is falling back on his go-to themes that stood him well during the good times…..feminism, climate change, diversity.
