  1. “previously thought”

    ummmhmmm.
    ’tis a shpelling mishtake . . . . .
    s.b. ‘previously *taught*’.

after the dust settles, I do hope HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS MORE decide how untrustworthy the chirese potentates are . . . .

  2. Lookup the Imperial College of London with its VERY extensive world-wide medical research group, and you’ll find that the infections are way underestimated and the death rate is more like 1%. Basing a “death rate” on essentially Chinese statistics is a mug’s game.

  3. Stats from US CDC: 32 million in USA caught the flu last yr. 18,000 deaths = 0.05625%

Thus to be 100 times more lethal (5.625%), the Covid-19 producing virus would have to kill 1,800,000 or 1.8 Million in the USA alone.

We are not even close to that yet…

China has 100M under quarantine in Hubei province alone…so they will be messed up for quite a while.

(See video link below when you have more time)

Also the Chinese government numbers are complete garbage.

China’s Regime Requires Government Offices to Destroy Data on Coronavirus Pandemic

    https://www.theepochtimes.com/chinese-authorities-require-government-offices-to-destroy-data-related-to-coronavirus-outbreak_3257797.html

In recent weeks, the Chinese regime has reported fewer novel coronavirus diagnoses across the country, making it appear as if the outbreak was leveling off.

The Epoch Times previously obtained confidential internal documents showing that in the coastal province of Shandong, authorities were purposefully under-reporting the number of diagnostic kit test results that turned up positive.

Eyewitnesses in Hubei province, where the outbreak is most severe, also told the publication that many people were unable to be diagnosed and treated at hospitals due to over-capacity, but were exhibiting symptoms and self-quarantining at home.

Now it appears some local authorities have been required to destroy data they compiled relating to the virus outbreak.

The Epoch Times obtained a copy of a Feb. 23 document sent from the Chaoyang city health commission to its provincial counterpart, the Liaoning health commission. The city is located in the country’s northeastern region, thousands of miles away from the virus epicenter in Hubei.

In compliance with the provincial health commission’s instructions, the city has inquired and checked within its government departments and agencies that previously received “documents and data” related to the outbreak, and have duly destroyed them, the document stated.
Staff who had access to the data were also required to sign a “letter of commitment,” which stipulated that officials promise to delete relevant documents from their laptops, computers, smartphones, external drive, and so on.

Furthermore, the signee will delete any screenshots and photos he or she made of the documents, and will promise not to share the contents of said documents with any party.

This publication also received screenshots of the Chaoyang city health commission’s internal database. A document with the following title is listed as “deleted”: “information about the close contacts of people with novel coronavirus, supplied by China’s Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Information Center.” In parentheses, the document title explains that the provincial government’s newly set-up command center for combating the virus had required that such information be distributed to individual cities and the provincial police bureau.

The CDC Information Center is an internal database that is used to distribute information to provincial CDC’s, hospitals, and other related users.

According to the screenshots, 13 different departments within Chaoyang government also submitted and signed the “letter” of non-disclosure, including the civil affairs bureau and county government offices.

    Hiding the Truth
The Epoch Times has previously reported that the Shandong province CDC compiled internal data sets, including the daily number of new positive diagnostic results. In the month of February, those numbers ranged from 1.36 times to 52 times greater than the officially published data by the Shandong health commission.

Meanwhile, Chinese media Caixin reported on Feb. 26 that authorities in the city of Wuhan (located in Hubei), where the virus first emerged, knew of the outbreak before they reported it to the public.

Caixin interviewed medical staff at the Wuhan Xinhua Hospital, who said that the facility had received seven novel coronavirus patients by Dec. 29, 2019, and kept reporting them to Jianghan district CDC officials since Dec. 27.

The media outlet also spoke with Zhao Su, a doctor from Wuhan Central Hospital, who said the first coronavirus patient he received began exhibiting symptoms on Dec. 20.

The Wuhan health commission announced that 27 people contracted “an unknown viral pneumonia” on Dec. 31. Central government authorities only began describing the severity of the outbreak on Jan. 20, when they admitted that the virus was contagious.

The Caixin report was removed from its website soon after publication, but netizens copied the article onto a mirror site.

    1. a: well this posting negates another in yesterdays tips to the effect links to epoch times did not pass muster.
b: pretty dodgy in regime ‘x’ when the *experts in their field* are ordered to cover up ANYTHING
as pertinent to a world wide viral infection.

      crikey.
ps I am at present ignoring ANY claims out of chirer.

  4. While you are all pissing your pants over what is nothing more than a bad flu, there have been 180,000 hospitalizations for regular flu and 16,000 deaths in the US.
China has 3rd world hygiene and 3rd world hospitals. Duhhhhh.
Spring is around the corner and the whole thing will fizzle out in a couple months like every other cold and flu.
By then there will be antivirals widely available and the first trance of vaccines available for health workers and immediate family members and caregivers.

But go ahead and keep reading your panic porn.

    1. The Chicoms disagree with you but everyone hopes you’re right even though you seem to be a dink.

    2. I’m just curious … how many COVID-19 patients have been cured with ancient Chinese Eastern medicine … like acupuncture? Soooooo much better than Western medicine. I know because my sister-in-Law told me so!

    3. so twat……china has 1st world hygiene and hospitals, but a 3rd world government, and there in lies the problem. Ditto Iran, it’s the government and social structure what is the problem, and abject stupidity that you show doesn’t help one wit.

Now we just need to wait for Ooz to link to another China official disinformation site!

      1. You lie NME Garbage Man. I have never linked to a ChiCom disinformation site. You’re the one who passes on ChiCom propaganda.
The bat soup theory, which I still favor, came from tourist evidence before the ChiCom government could get out in front and lock down information.
        All information afterward is suspect.

    4. Pretty amazed at how a parrot moves the goal posts.
      Make up your mind.
They arent sure warmer temps kill the virus.
I’ll take the glass half full thanks.

    5. Sure, they can’t tell what the actual death rate is, was 2% yesterday is 3.5% today, but you sure know there is nothing to worry about. In the meantime the bitch has mutated into two strains, new one deadlier, older one milder, but you also know for sure that it will not mutate again. You’re about as bright as Iranians licking a statue of their moongod in defiance.

  5. Johns Hopkins has a regularly updated map of the virus spread. The Chinese numbers haven’t changed since Monday morning, when I first discovered the link. I wouldn’t trust anything they have to say anyway. On Monday the numbers of newly infected stood at 88,000+. Now it is at 95,120, all outside of China. South Korea has the highest numbers of infected outside of China, but the lowest mortality, about .6%. Iran seems to have the highest at about 3%. Where you live greatly determines mortality. If you live in a civilized country, you may get sick, but you are unlikely to die. Because of my age, I am more vulnerable, as are my parents, who are in their 90s.

    1. Yes, cutting thru the hype, anyone 60 and over needs to isolate and avoid crowds of any kind until this subsides.
Prime example, the deaths in Seattle area, all over 60, most with compromised health already.

Not that the media would avoid any chance at fearmongering and fact omissions.

    2. There are two strains now, one much more virulent than the other. Guess which one is in Iran? I’ll give you a hint. It matches their religious fervor.

  6. Giving the population-hating Global Warmists reason for great optimism? Esp. that part where ollllld people (OK Boomers) are most vulnerable …

  7. As I posted in Tips this morning, WTF is going on in Wuhan? Tomorrow will be 6 full weeks of quarantine. How much longer does that last?

    1. Buddy, they are now saying that it is possible that the virus lives for up to 9 days on some surfaces, and that could answer your question. The quarantines would not be as effective as they thought then

    2. Well, will we? China is still mum. Much of the hysteria can be ended by China coming clean. Figurateively that is.

  8. COVID struck all of the right places and is making the world a better place day by day.

      1. Real Italians, or third world migrant “Italians” that are overrunning every EU country except Hungary?

        1. The Italians in Italy who now have almost 3K infected.

They are not overrunning Poland either.

    1. the urban legend is that face masks primarily protect the wearer, not so, ya still gotta breathe and unless you traipse around in one of those cloth ‘space suits’ you are vulnerable. via many entry points on the body.
BUT the masks will do real good catching the coughs and particulate spittle loaded with ms corona.
thus protecting the uninfected *others*. so let basic humahn self interest work in favour of slowing the spread until some much more effective mass countermeasure shows up.

    2. Face masks. Spell check got me twice. Face marks sounds like a sign of the apocalypse. Heh. Although hypoxia, just sayin’ and Corona = crown. We have plague and locusts. Now all we need is a supernova. Come on Betelguese.

  9. On face masks:

First, let’s examine the official pronouncement about how panic buying is bad, because they don’t work, and we need them for medical staff. Well, if they don’t work, why do you need them?

Then there is the confusion between surgical and N-95 masks. Surgical masks are the cloth ones worn to prevent contamination when working on people undergoing surgery. They stop droplets from the surgical staff being exhaled and infecting the open wound. These will not really do much to prevent you getting an air born infection (although they may actually help if we are considering someone sneezing/coughing in the same room).

The N-95 masks are rigid and filter much smaller particles. They certainly do help (if correctly fitted) with filtering out a lot (most) of the particles that could be carrying infection. They only help with breathing in infection. They don’t do a thing if you have picked up something on your hand and you wipe your eye or pick your nose. They do help to make it more obvious when you unconsciously go to touch your face. Because they are filtering out particles potentially carrying virus, that means that they might end up with a concentrated collection of virus, so should really be burned, or at least sealed in a plastic bag with bleach for disposal after use.

Air is *probably* the biggest transmission method, but picking it up from surfaces also appears to be a likely source, and not only from sneeze/cough droplets (which would be much reduced by surgical or N-95 masks) but also from fecal matter which has been found to contain viable virus. Wearing gloves could help (assuming that you dispose of them /disinfect them regularly).

My own take is that “officials” are trying to tamp down panic by lying to you.

      1. Of course, because they’re known to tell the truth, and nothing but the truth, so help them Chairman Mao.

  10. I’ve had enough of the bullshit hysterical media-know-nothings who encourage panic and fear. My wife is absolutely terrorized by this bullshit. Arguments about unknown number of cases and deaths and China’s real numbers etc. are failing to relieve her depression. Because the press reports the WHO who also know nothing. Where is the WHO investigation of what is happening in China?

    1. “Where is the WHO investigation of what is happening in China?”

It is where Chicoms allow it.

    2. Yes Robert, the mediots constantly reaffirm, that they wild exaggerators, inaccurate doomers, praying for REAL death and terror on citizens.
Shame that many think the media never lies……it’s their JOB.

  11. I don’t trust China or any government

    They all lie

From my neighbor when I gave the heads up that the medicine in Walmart Canada is disappearing

Oh for fuck sake relax I’m in bed and you keep waking me up and until.the gov says something wete fine Canada is prepared for the bug did ya not hear that report have a beer and a good sleep

    We’re fooked

  12. I am surprised by folks who think this outbrake is being overblown.
    A couple of points.
    1. Considering the U.S. alone, on Feb. 2nd there were 9 cases. Today there are a total of 9 listed recoveries. So, unlike the flu, this takes about a month to get over.
    2. If this was a simple flu you would not see the now established pattern of about 17 % of the cases hospitalized in “serious or critical” condition.
    3. The most prominant story I’ve seen regarding describing what it’s like to have Covid19 downplayed the seriousness and burried the fact that the subject was participating in a clinical trial. (https://www.drugtargetreview.com/news/56798/mechanism-of-action-revealed-for-remdesivir-potential-coronavirus-drug/)
    4. All disease takes a greater toll on the old and the infirm. There seems to be a dismissive trend, Trump included, regarding the vulnerable.
    5. Currently, the U.S. is at a 6% mortality rate including all unresolved cases.
    6. China, calculated properly, is running at a 5.4% mortality rate.
    7. The W.H.O.’s estimated mortality rate, is concerning enough, but there are indications that this revised % is still very low.
