Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

“but U.S. District Judge Vanessa Gilmore said, “Everything I read about you makes you seem like a scary person,” reports the station.”
Feeeelings, nothing more than feeeeelings….

9,000 rounds of ammo.
How many have that much in .22LR alone?
He goes to prison because the judge said he was a very scary person???
Says who and why? He owned a bunch of guns and a grenade launcher and 9000 rounds of ammo. There has to be more to that story. Story reads like it was written by a reporter in sixth grade.
“Story reads like it was written by a reporter in sixth grade.”
Or with an MA in journalism. Pretty much the same thing really.
It’s also datelined 2014.
Nine years between arrest and sentencing? So much for the Sixth Amendment to the Constitution, eh?
I understand both the legitimate and questionable reasons why lawyers advise putting as much time between arrest, trial, and sentencing. However, that tactic apparently didn’t work out so well for Señor Morales.
Hard to convince a judge that the 1,000 marijuana plants were for personal consumption. Harder to justify the grenade launcher. heh heh. However, 27 firearms and 9,000 rounds of ammunition seems to be reasonable for personal protection – considering the direction our country is going…
Three years, not nine. Dated 2014: “GALVESTON, Texas – John Morales, the actor who played the crime-fighting cartoon character McGruff the Crime Dog, was sentenced to 16 years in prison stemming from a 2011 arrest in which police seized 1,000 marijuana plants, 27 weapons – including a grenade launcher – and 9,000 rounds of ammunition from his home, reports CBS Houston.”
It was the evil weed, probably only added on a year for the guns. If the Judge thought he was scary,I wonder what she thinks of MS-13 and other immigrant groups such as the Muslim compounds in New York,New Mexico, Alabama and other States, where I’m sure they have a lot more than 9000 of ammo.
Grenage launchers are routinely owned by thousands, if not millions of people on both sides of the border.
9000 rounds of ammunition is only 18 bricks of 22LR or 6 crates of 7.62×39.
What is your point?
Haven’t heard of any local crimes with a grenade launcher, or a 50 BMG for that matter.
Knives, machetes and acid attacks however……………….
Maybe it’s the who, not the what.
I didn’t notice the 2014 dateline, and have no idea why it popped up now. Still, pretty funny.
A close personal acquaintance who asked to remain anonymous was heard to comment “Ruh roh.”
Very interesting, reading all the comments by people who clearly draw no connections between anything.
“oh, he had 9000 rounds of ammo, please Sweet Lord Daddy Big Government, protect us”
“the RCMP is not doing their job, why are those protesters still blocking the tracks”
“I am enraged government screws anything up”
“government did such good job jailing the guy whom I do not like”
My first guess, is the guy is a registered Republican, or something, and the judge is a registered Democrat and Obama appointee. Cause we all know, Democrats don’t go to jail for nuffin, evah. Maybe it is the sister of the judge in the Stone case.
We also know, that Obama released a bunch of drug dealers from prison. Was this guy one of them? If he was, then Democrat. If he wasn’t, then Republican.
I guess you could project any meaning you want onto that post.
The “news” report was real light on details.
There is something messed up with that article. The actor was 41 in 2014, yet played the low gravelly voiced role in an early ‘80s cartoon?
It must have been alarming for his mother when her nine-year-old son was demanding more juice in the voice of a crime hardened man.
