HB, In the Jan 24 article, the geneticist was actually making a biblical reference, the way anthropologists and geneticists use to make Eve references in the past and maybe still do with respect to population bottle necks and “mitochondrial eve” for example. His point was that there was a single event of transmission to patient zero and all other infections were human to human per the genetic map. Apparently SJWs don’t read STATnews in order to object and destroy this fellow’s career for referencing a once common reference in western civilization.

        It seems to me that this super contagious virus can really lay you low for a long time. 2% death rate is 98% survival, presumably.   3. Iran can’t have a death toll of 16 while having an infection tally of only 95 because that’s an almost 17% mortality rate … and that’s only when you assume the 79 will ALL recover.
    If that IS true then the Chicoms are going to wipe out 1.25 billion people with their Bat Soup Kung Flu.
    The alternative is that they have thousands of cases that are just undocumented which is pretty much everywhere now or very f’n soon.

      1. The calculations of death rate are entirely meaningless at this stage.

        Formula 1: death rate =# of deaths / # of cases
        Is entirely useless since most cases haven’t concluded one way or another.

        Formula 2: death rate = # of deaths / (# of deaths + # of recoveries)
        Is useful only if (i) detection rates between cases ending in deaths and cases ending in recoveries are the same and (ii) the average time from infection to conclusion is the same for cases that end in death and cases that end recovery. We have no reason to belive that either (i) or (ii) are the case.

        And then of course is the simple fact that every turd world shithole either genuinely has no clue how many of its citizens are infected or they outright lie about it. Chicoms outright lie. Tehran Turbans both lie and have no clue. None knows what is going on in for example: Indonesia, India, Bangladesh, Ceylon. Or take my current favorite Vietnam: 16 cases all recovered. Vietnam clearly has the best health care system in the world!

  4. The real truth to this story isn’t that a new virus emerged from East Asia.

    The story is clearly how ham-fisted the Chinese have handled it. The core to this story is their inability to tell the truth and suppressIon of anything resembling reasonable discourse or reporting from those most affected.

    These indecent tyrants are simply incapable of telling the truth. Their virus numbers are shit and their treatment of their own people (and at least two of ours) shittier.

    Everyone on this board knows the virus is coming. That’s the other side of the story. Governments around the world are so bent on not causing us a panic, they are treating the CCP as honest actors.

    But, hey! we need them, they make stuff, cheap stuff, including masks, gloves, meds, fentanyl, and ohh boy can they slap-up “hospitals” (leaning palliative internment dance camps).

  5. I heard (or read somewhere) that Chinese researchers, after they’re finished whatever tests they’re carrying-out on their animals, sell the animals to street vendors.

    Did anybody else see that? It sounds like a particularly nasty smear attempt; but to be honest, I wouldn’t put it past them – and if true, that would explain how an engineered bioweapon made it out of a biolab.

    1. Y.K. Yes, I did see that reference. The proper process, after the animal has served its purpose is to kill and incinerate it. But there has been some speculation that some have, instead, been sold into the live market for human consumption. What significantly compounds the problem is that the animal is sold live and is slaughtered and skinned while the “consumer” closely watches the process. The customer insists on this to ensure he is getting the animal he bought. Sorry, I know you can’t “unread” that, but that’s how it is.

      Far as I can see,we lack the data to be anywhere near that precise.
      Life kills 100% of all who contract it.
      Being a sexually transmitted terminal disease amongst mammals..We are all gonn’a die.
      I doubt we will know for some months yet whether the corona virus is a true pandemic or cover for something rather different.
      Outside the cities we might get a ringside seat while the entrapped urbanites figure it out.

      Based on what data dipshit? The numbers officially released by chicoms? Same chicoms that quarantine hundreds of millions? That try to disinfect entire cities and build instant pop up prison hospitals?
