I Want A New Country (Bumped)

I’ve often said that I wished I owned all the oil companies in the world.

I guess they were listening.

What now, Mr. Kenney? Surely you have more than a tweet in response.

    1. WEXIT sounds better with each passing day. As I understand it the provincial registrations for Alberta and Saskatchewan are looking like a reality in the near future. Could be a quick propulsion to prominence if this bull shite gets any worse.

  1. He’s being quite Shakespearean: “full of sound and fury, signifying nothing”.

    (Macbeth, Act V, Scene 5)

    1. Now that Prinz Dummkopf’s clearly demonstrated that he’s quite capable of screwing up his own country, will the UN please give him his well-deserved Security Council seat so that he can inflict even more devastation elsewhere? (Hello, Nobel committee? Are you watching this?)

      (sarcasm = off)

        1. Much of my portfolio is blue-chip stock. Those companies survived Black Monday ’87, they endured the 2008 instability, and they will withstand what happens in the coming days.

But I know that there will be investors who will hear the two most dreaded words: “margin call”.

          P. S., it’s a good thing I sold my Teck stock years ago.

          1. B A, I wish I had sold mine years ago. I’m not sure what you Westerners are waiting for. If this isn’t the straw that breaks the camel’s back, I don’t know what is. I’m in Ontario and I want to leave this Confederation. Would love to move out West myself.

          2. Unfortunately, the majority of the population out here is Canadian. Typically, whenever I bring up the issue, the response is either “I don’t follow politics” or “Oh, well, what can you do about it?”

Not only can’t one fix stupid, one can’t repair passivity, either.

          3. “…Unfortunately, the majority of the population out here is Canadian. Typically, whenever I bring up the issue, the response is either “I don’t follow politics” or “Oh, well, what can you do about it?”

OBLIVIOUS … “Now where did I put my iPhone”..??
I’m reminded of the drones in THX1138 – drug induced compliance.

New law coming soon in this country: Drug Evasion will be punishable for up to 10 years hard labour

    1. Aid package?

Justin will say the company canceled for “commercial” reasons. No aid is necessary.

PS but I suspect we both agree Justin’s an asshole.

    2. Exactly!

      I read: “ … opposition to resource development …”

And scratch my head. Every single BIT of every single “opponent to resource development’s” LIFE exists BECAUSE of resource development. Everything. Has come from resources. Everything. This is simply what happens after a few generations of “green education” brainwashes shallow-thinking people into believing they can have something for nothing. And worse … that “renewable” energy is … well … renewable.

Let them all shiver, starve … and worse … get disconnected from the internet.

  2. Alberta is being robbed by Quebec. There’s no other way to put it. This is highway robbery. Stop paying equalization to these scumbags.

  3. Paragraphs 4&9 are the money quotes,in Tecks letter to the federal government.
Nobody is going to invest in Venezuela North, especially not billions of $$ with the return dependent on future pipelines to access the critical market.
Letter politely states we cannot risk investing until you ,Can ahh Duh, get your shit together, when you decide who rules,”Don’t call us we will call you..maybe”.
While the Fabulous Five Hereditary Chiefs Rule all,no ones property is safe.

    1. If the Eastern elites didn’t know it, they will this week. The unity crisis is now full on. Two years till the Buffalo Republic separates. Soon after, much of B.C. and Manitoba will too.

    2. Why did Teck pull out?

There is currently no carbon tax on coal production. It’s only when you burn it that a carbon tax is paid.

Could it be that Trudeau threatened an export carbon tax on coal? Teck is a big coal miner.

      1. TRUDEAU bought them out.

What’s a few Hundred Million to him eh..? if that is what it takes to keep him firmly seated as PM.?? With the Bloc and most if not all of his cabinet revolting….think about it. That POS will do whatever it takes to retain power – just like any other despot.

  4. Kinsella can’t differentiate the difference between business and politics.

A business CEO who answers to shareholders doesnt go around tweaking the government’s nose. Tomorrow you might need a favor and deliberately picking a fight has no upside.

Politicians and journalists go for a kill shot or gotcha moment. A smart CEO plays their cards close to their vest.

    1. abtrapper, you got it. Business plays both sides of any political issue, and all the time! When they pick sides, it always costs them big time.

    2. likewise agreed ab. youve done your homework.
decades ago I used to wonder why business would make campaign contributions to both sides of the fence.
I since found out long ago.
after that eureka moment, everything else fit.

  5. The Chinese will swoop in and clean the carcass of the Canadian oil industry for pennies on the dollar.

They will get the pipelines built, pay off the Native bands and make them offers they wont be able to refuse.

  6. See?

The blockades need to stay, like it or not! Trudeau will wear the damage of his aloofness and irresponsible behaviour! The premiers cannot take the bait to remove the blockades. It’s a national issue, railways are Federal jurisdiction, just like pipelines.

This is gonna hurt for awhile, but the payoff may be Trudeau’s ruination!

And yes, that sucks for Alberta, but the CEO poked Trudeau between the eyes!

    1. One of my fondest dreams is that Prinz Dummkopf will go down in history as the prime minister responsible for the dissolution of Confederation.

        1. I remember them, too, but not fondly. But things are different now. Junior is much worse than Daddy.

          1. precisely B A.
where in fcuk is the upside with pm spawn?
pot legalized? whooopdidoooo. they screwed THAT up as well anyways.
now its just[in the TURDoo 2.0] platitudes, sloganeering, evasiveness and erm, ummm, erm, uhhhh, uhhh . . . .
furhtermore there was a thingy on TVO recently, all the old LIEberals patting themselves on the back regarding events in ’68 and the War Measures etc.

    2. Dan and you watch the cons screw this up as they ,always do . Scheep is still the figurative leader, and he’s stupider than the spawn

  7. Are there any nice easy federal targets in Alberta for a protest blockade? Canada place in Edmonton perhaps?

    1. There sure is, Skippy. Set up your protest camps on the intersection of the runways of your favourite international airport.

I recommend Ottawa, Toronto Pearson and Vancouver for starters – but if you want to keep it in Alberta, definitely Edmonton International. Only, don’t forget to blockade Namao too.

      WEXIT.

  8. So the Teck project would produce as much CO2 in 40 years as the heavily subsidized Bombardier / Beaudoin family cement plant in Quebec produces in two and a half years.
    https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/mcinnis-cement-plant-in-gasp%C3%A9-proceeds-without-environmental-hearing-1.2964868
    https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/teck-frontier-1.5473370

No use getting mad at the Liberals or eastern Canada. If you want change, be the change and get independence for Alberta and Saskatchewan. WEXIT!

    1. Walter, while I understand the sentiment of your comment, the Teck mine would produce 4 million tonnes CO2 per year, the Quebec cement plant produces approx 2 million tonnes per year.

        1. Walter,

For Trudeau Quebec CO2 is good, Alberta CO2 is bad.

Albertans we don’t want your oil but keep sending da money.

      1. Correcting these stats would be valuable if you truly thought CO2 was a pollutant. The most alarming thing about all this political push and shove is that it is based on the climate hoax. Have the globalists won? The rest of us can freeze in the dark.

        1. Marths, I don’t think CO2 is a problem. But if we want to make a successful separation case we should have our facts right.

      2. CO2 is plant food! The oceans take up plenty of it every day. The results of that are just west of me…the Front Ranges, made of Calcium Carbonate. All 40,000 feet of it in depth. They and their equivalent extend from Alaska to the tip of South America.
The planet is stressed at levels of 250 ppm CO2. We’re what, 410 ppm? Green houses run at 1000 ppm CO2. Plant food. You eat it. Higher CO2 greens the Sahara. That’s a problem for people?
        Greens are stupid, including Greta.

      3. And who in their right mind buys the CO2 SCAM Anyway..??

When Ice core samples from around the planet show unequivocably that CO2 levels FOLLOW warming by some 800 years on average.

In any new country, there had Goddamned well better be a DECLARATION that Climate Change while real is NOT Affected in any meaningful way by man and his/her/xir activities…..well maybe Xir’s

        1. But don’t forget that “climate change” as SFA to do with the environment but completely about wealth “distribution”.

In other words, the communist elites keep their wealth because they need to be rewarded for doing important work. You, you unwashed, unenlightened, unsophisiticated hillbilly, you surrender your wealth, and we’ll distribute it for you. If you don’t, we’ll confiscate it and, by the time we’re finished, you’ll be grateful if we leave you with a shirt on your back and that’s because we didn’t get around to taking that as well.

And we’ll do it for the sake of Mommy Gaia. No sacrifice on your part will be enough.

  9. Turn the Valves off.

Premier Kenney has to fight back by shutting the valves off. Anything less than that is weak kneed and ineffective. Welcome to Venezuelan, Nigerian and Saudi Oil.

Time to stand up and make a stand

The Aboriginals are the big losers here. But then Turdeau and Butts are going to offer them over a Billion dollars in welfare.

    that should work..

    1. over a Billion dollars in welfare

Correction: over a billion of our dollars in welfare; taxpayer dollars, dollars robbed from western Canadians by calling them “equalization payments”, dollars which should have been properly invested and producing even more dollars.

But, when one grows up financially loaded, why should spending someone else’s money bother them?

    1. Wanna bet that all those belugas that Quebec was whining about aren’t going to matter if there’s a promising strike in the Gulf of St. Lawrence?

Quebec oil good, Alberta oil bad.

  10. Don’t worry. Jason Kenney is drafting a strongly worded letter about this issue. It will be followed by a strongly worded press conference tomorrow. Then a wank and some re-runs of Alf before bedtime.

    1. There’s nothing that Ottawa fears more than a 50 megaton verbal rebuke from Alberta. Why, it might make the MPs there spit out their champagne when they start laughing.

      1. He should follow Climate Barbie’s advice and shout it, while poking holes in the air with his finger. After all, that’s how she convinces people about “climate change”, right?

        1. Anyone up for a tax revolt? If you owe anything? Don’t send it to CRA? or perhaps send it to the Provincial Treasurer in care of?

  11. Here’s another article where it is mentioned that the Quebec govt looks at whether an investment in developing it’s resources will cut down on its equalization payments or not.
If it does, they refuse to give out permits for it.

    https://www.iedm.org/sites/default/files/pub_files/note0712_en.pdf

The really interesting statement in here is the fact that an estimated 46 bil bbls of oil has possibly been discovered in the Anti Cost Island area and the St Lawrence area. (Amount sounds exaggerated to me).
So really, QUEBEC IS A HAVE-NOT PROVINCE BY CHOICE and should be kicked out of the program altogether. Obviously when this program was set up way back when, nobody thought that it would be scammed by liars and thieves, aka know as politicians.

OTOH, WEXIT solves the whole problem very nicely.

    1. RockyT

There is lots of oil on Anticosti Island, but it is in low permeability rock which requires hydraulic fracturing to get it out.

In 2017 Quebec banned all oil development work on Anticosti “to protect the Island and the St Lawrence”.

I note that royalties on oil production would reduce equalization payments from Albertans.

Protecting the St Lawrence does not seem to apply to tankers which go to Montreal and Quebec City.

      1. Nor does it apply to the City of Montreal, dumping Billions of litres of RAW Sewage into said river either on a regular basis.

        The hypocrisy is simply unreal.

    2. So really, QUEBEC IS A HAVE-NOT PROVINCE BY CHOICE and should be kicked out of the program altogether.

Ahem. Why buy the cow when one can get the milk for free?

  12. “more devastating news for the Canadian economy”

Who gives a shit about Canazuela’s economy, Mr. Kenney? You’re the Premier of Alberta, not Prime Minister of Canazuela.
You, Mr. Kenney, should be concerned only with Alberta where you’re doing a piss-poor job. 10 months of nothing, Mr. Kenney.

  13. Sent to Jason Kenney this morning.

Well Mr. Kenney, what are you going to do now? Teck is gone, along with the $20 billion and all the additional pluses.

Here is my take. Canada is over! I was in favour of separation when my wife’s company cut 2000 jobs (oil and gas related) a few years back… now I am in meltdown. Any more talk from you about working with Canada is nothing more than the ramblings of a damn fool. It’s over.

Watching that prick Justin Trudeau claim Teck backed out for economic reasons, and none of this is his responsibility will be hard to bear. The environmental wackos and radicals have won.

    Time to leave.

    #Wexit

    John
    Calgary

    1. Heres the thing, John of Calgary. You, steakman, and others think your mail will be read by Jason Kenney, and maybe it will IF you live in the Calgary-Lougheed riding where Kenney is MLA, then yes it’s right to write him. I urge you and they others to write the MLA in your riding and tell them they aren’t going to get your vote or your money because:
      a) You can’t see the difference between the UCP and the NDP.
      b) It looks like Jason Kenney cares more about being Prime Minister of Canada than Premier of Alberta.
      c) Jason Kenney is doing nothing to decouple Ottawa from Alberta’s money.
      d) All of the above.

If you tell the newly minted MLA they can kiss your vote goodbye maybe they’ll light a FIRE under Jason Kenney’s ASS.
Did you know that there is an annual Caucus confidence vote each spring? Yeah. Basically it’s about how happy the voter is about the job the Party has been doing and their MLA is doing, and what their MLA’s chances of reelection are.

  14. Help Canaduh reach it climate change carbon reduction goals !!!
    FREE SASKABERTA FINALLY!!!!!!

  15. The Sacred Wood Ticks on Alberta land have been saved! Now workers in Alberta can look forward to exciting new minimum wage jobs installing solar panels on federal buildings. Meanwhile Indians at the railway tracks in Ontario had a fireworks display last night to celebrate the blockades. And a court decision is expected today to force carbon taxes on Alberta. Welcome to the Canada of Big Chief Gay Eagle With No Balls.

  16. This will embolden the ecofascists even more.
And somebody tell the Indians that making whitey poor isn’t going to help their own situation.
Subsistence living in a cold land is cruel and harsh.

  17. I agree with Kinsella; the Liberal caucus IS revolting. Liberal voters, are revolting. Liberal prime ministers, are revolting. Liberal backroom people, are revolting. Liberal civil servants, are revolting.

Liberals, NDP, socialists is general, are RAF (Revolting As F**K).

In revolt is probably what he thought he was saying, but socialists are also DAF (Dumb As F**K).

  18. An independent Alberta with free market policies and open trade with the US would quickly be one of the wealthiest countries in the world. A Norway of the west and then some.

Canada is gone. Alberta should leave before it gets any worse and never look back.

  19. The Liberal Party’s CBC and CTV are giving little attention to the Teck announcement this morning. Most of the coverage is about the treatment of Canadians who have the virus in Japan. There is supposed to be a gathering of Indians, environmentalists, and other assorted loons at parliament hill in Ottawa today. They will be supporting blockades.

  20. And FYI; expecting anything outside of sternly worded tweets, letters to the editor, and speeches, don’t expect anything from Kenney. Oh, and more think tanks and other sinecures. Cannot forget those. The loyalists down at the Energy War Room are probably due a raise by now… Has Hunter Biden got his appointment to the board from Kenney from yet?

A million here, a billion there, sometime next decade you mat be talking about real money.

  21. The time to leave Canada is way past due! Industries that we don’t get back are crumbling before our eyes! Law of the LAND has become Law only for the WORKING Canadians! Anthropogenic Climate change is a Fraud pushing a miss guided globalist agenda!
FREE THE WEST—– I”LL work my butt off to accomplish this!!!!
In my opinion talking should be over !!!! Except for strategy to accomplish SEPARATION!!!

  22. I want out as I see it as the only practical way forward at this point. But, I believe the general populace will need to feel much, much more pain, terrible pain, probably past the point of mass bankruptcies and into mass starvation levels, before they’ll be willing to break off from the East, a geographic region with no actual commonalities. On this continent, regional similarities run North/South, not East/West.

  23. My recommendations to Kenney:

    a) have a referendum on equalization. Set the date for May or June. Simple question “do you wish to scrap equalization?”

Yes, I know the Feds won’t scrap equalization but the vitriolic comments coming out of Quebec and the Toronto media will help drive more Albertans to support separation.

    b) pull out of the Canada Pension Plan.

This would mean that CPP deductions would have to go up in the rest of Canada (outside Quebec). I think that number is about 10%.

Rachel Notley will go berserk over this. But let’s force her into denying Albertans rights that Quebec enjoys.

Note that the Quebec Pension Plan has about $325 billion in assets for 8 million people. The Canada Pension Plan has abou $405 billion for 29 million people.

I do not want a separation vote until we create winning conditions.

    1. The winning conditions?
It is the black gold– Texas Tea — oil, right under your feet, natural gas, the beauty of Alberta etc. We are stacked, even, well stocked. There’s more… but…what more do you need?

We’re the envy of the ROC. They WANT us to leave. In our shoes, they’d leave.

    2. Joe Kenney can end Equalization tomorrow with the stroke of a pen. Equalization is funded by the Federal Provincial Fiscal Arrangements Act. It funds all these programs and is not a part of the BNA or any Constitutional Document. It is completely voluntary. All Kenney’s talk is all Bullshit. Kenney is a federalist POS

      1. Watcher,

Actually Kenney can’t end equalization with a stroke of the pen. The money for equalization comes from the taxes that Ottawa collects.

The fiscal arrangements act governs how funds are allocated for distribution.

If Kenney pulls out Ottawa will simply find a different way to distribute the tax money it collects from Alberta.

But perhaps Kenney should pull out as you suggest, but just to gum up the works?

        1. I believe that Kenney aspires to the pension and perks of the Prime minister of Canada, not Alberta. If he was not a federalist, would he not be pulling out of the CPP already? Would he not be setting up the Alberta Revenue Agency so we can collect our own taxes as Quebec does?
If we are going to separate successfully, we need an inspired and inspiring leader.

          Any Volunteers?

  24. On the link provided by the Lovely Miss Kate re: Warren Kinsella’s Twitter obviously Liberal supporter is calling for Trudeau to bring in UN Troops and round us bastard Deplorables UP. All I can say is do and do it now. Right about now would be a good time to open the ball. And no we will never surrender our weapons. Everybody here is stocking up “For Hunting Season”

  25. Remember when no one from the Liberal caucus could bother meeting with the Alberta truckers? That was the writing on the wall, right there. Sadly, too many Easterners missed it. Now the country is poised for a break up.

  26. Well at least Blackie The Gay Pirate promised us all free camping and canoeing trips this summer. And everybody would get a family doctor.

  27. Albertans need to get out quickly while Trump is still in office. I am assuming he will be reelected in Nov. It will possible to negotiate trade deals with Trump — maybe even oil and gas investments. When Trump is replaced, might be harder to do.

  28. FYI, if you actually want change, never again support an incumbent. One term, any role, it becomes likely they catch Ottawa disease, Mayor’s office disease, whatever. Anyone from Alberta who lives in Ottawa, very quickly becomes just another eastern politician. Anyone who has been an MLA, very quickly has their gaze set on the double dipping pension for life thing. Mayor’s pension, MLA pension, MP pension, cabinet pension, Senator pension, … how many dips can you actually get? Just how easy is it, to become a millionaire in Canada simply by holding public office?

  29. Not surprisingly, but the TSX is getting clobbered today, but so is the Dow. The only stock that hasn’t been sold off is Akita Drilling and its share price now is next to nothing, thanks to Red Rachel and Prinz Dummkopf.

  30. Will the frog finally hop out of the pot?
The only way this thing ends well is if the normal people wake up and revolt against the political and environmental stupidity that dominates our society.

Forget about being nice to people.
When they spout their Marxist nonsense and preach their climate change bullshit call them on it full bore.
    Hop out of the pot.

  31. Call the provincial government MLAs and tell them that if the RCMP won’t enforce the laws against the illegal protests then they need to boot Blackie’s mall cops out and establish a provincial police force that the province controls.

    1. I have argued for provincial and municipal police with many politicians. They all say it is too expensive. Some say it is too complicated. What they all fear is loosing the ability to pass the buck.
      Real leaders are needed.

      I don’t see any.

    2. My MLA is Red Rachel. I’ll save myself the bother of calling her because I’m sure I know what her answer would be.

  32. “FYI, if you actually want change, never again support an incumbent.” ~Kevin the Insane

And THAT, my friends, was how the sovereign Nation of Texas, with the Lone Star flag, became just another star on the Stars and Stripes.
President Samuel Houston was out of office because the Texas constitution stated he could only serve 2 consecutive terms in a row and the next President of Texas joined the United States. Incumbency isn’t the problem. The problem is that ignorant people have a vote.

There should be a test to demonstrate a prospective voter’s engagement and awareness with the current political issues to qualify them to vote in the current cycle. We live in the 3rd Decade of the 21st Century. We have all manner of computers and com devises.
The test shouldn’t be a problem.

  33. “This decision is clearly the result of federal regulatory uncertainty & the”

and all this uncertainty? originated in the primitive adolescent brain of the TURDoo 2.0
but, butt, Butt, that’s what the leftoids want, so have at ‘er freebie seekers.

  34. Anti-pipeline lobbyist Tides Canada paid over $220,000.00 to the Wet’suwet’en.
Sarah Goodman, former VP Tides, is now Trudeau’s top climate guru.
Heritage Minister Guilbeault paid $100,000.00 by Tides for his foundation
    The fix is in.

  35. Since when is Kinsella the race baiter on our side? It’s his and his Liberal friends fault that our country is so screwed up.

    1. Sometimes the you may find that your interests and that the interests of someone you regard as an enemy intersect and seem to go in the same direction. Sometimes. What Kinsella’s interest is here, I have no idea. I don’t trust him at all.
