40 Replies to “It’s Probably Nothing”

  1. Italy just shut down whole regions with the military. Austria found two people fleeing the quarantine on a train coming in with symptoms. They have responded by sealing their border with Italy. We have an apparently out of control outbreak on South Korea and Japan. The Chinese have just announced the incubation period may be as long as 27 days not fourteen. We have a pandemic on our hands and Canada…well… we can’t assume we are safe. This one case from Iran in Canada is likely to be the tip of the iceberg. Think of all the back and forthing that went in after the plane was downed by Iran. I am worried.

  2. I don’t think this can be contained at all….slowed down maybe

can the US and Canada lockup entire cities like China….no
…it’s going to get in Africa, India, etc…they don’t have the medical infrastructure

When it gets in Mexico and Central America…..millions will try to get out and come here

    1. It already is in Africa, India, Mexico and every other major shithole in the world. They just don’t record it or outright hide it. See India where they have reported three cases all recovered. Sure.

    2. How about third world health systems vs our modern health care (best medicine/drugs available?
Chinese medicine…….is holistic. Explains why so many dead over there, but despite low number of cases, no dead here. It’s also been said that the Chinese environment is not healthy, dirty air, and the majority smoke.
Let’s relax a bit……over 33,000 die of the flu each flu season, in the US. Not much noise about that.

      1. What is a death to recovery ratio Dan? Without checking, do you think it is higher or lower than for corona?

        1. The numbers so far are interesting, but there is caution in interpreting small sample sizes.
Nonetheless, there are differences in Chinas health care, vs ours, at the basics level. Not talking about how lousy the NDP runs the system, rather, our generally superior sanitary standards, easy availability of good medications, vs China, and our generally better quality of life.
As well, their living conditions has to be accounted for. They live like sardines, so it’s no surprise how this has spread. Our cities of similar population, are far less dense, disease is much more difficult to spread as it has in China.
Having said all that, I’m with anyone who decides to cease all flights direct and indirect from China, Taiwan, or Southeast Asia. That’s just good old jurisprudence. Why take any risk?

          1. Yes, turd world countries with turd world healthcare, sanitary conditions and standards of personal hygiene will suffer proportionally much more. But South Korea and Italy are not turd world shitholes. And it is spreading there too. Rapidly. The pattern appears to be a handful of deaths followed by a discovery of a large infected cluster. This isn’t good and there does not appear to be any method of preventing it regardless of location.

  3. Speaking of probably nothings:
New presumptive case of novel coronavirus in Toronto, health officials say
    https://nationalpost.com/pmn/news-pmn/canada-news-pmn/new-presumptive-case-of-novel-coronavirus-in-toronto-health-officials-say
“Because of all the proper protocols and procedures that are in place to contain this virus and exposure to others was limited, I want to assure the public that the risk to Ontarians remains low,”

    Translation:

How I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb.

    1. They are still using that one…….. so they haven’t really been checking from the start, and all was well.
What the heck are they going to say if indeed the incubation period is much longer, then first thought.
Well I hope people remember how much PC culture , burecratic BS, and blind tolerance fueled the fire when its Canada’s turn.
Have a feeling we aren’t going to sneak by this one.

  4. They only informed passengers seated within three rows of the innocuous, totally nothing to worry about, no worse than the flu coronavirus victim. The passengers are not quarantined and are being told to self monitor for 14 days. It’s going to spread like wild fire in this country now folks.

    1. Thats assuming this person never used the washroom, used dishes to eat.. touched walls, overhead baggage containers..8 DAYS AGO..,Just read an article where a well respected Doctor expected 40/50% of the planet will get this..

      1. More people die of knife attacks than trip on their shoe laces and die therefore there’s nothing to worry about.

      2. Are they checking the stewardesses too? How about the people who were served by the stewardesses? On this flight, one the next, and those after that? Few things are more dangerous than a government bureaucracy pretending to be doing something.

        1. How about everyone that walked by the gate the person was waiting at in Trudeau airport and every gate between the gates where the flight landed to the time she changed planes. Basically everyone at Pearson airport and Vancouver airport and possibly there after on Valentines day is kinda fudged. Where did the plane go after? Who sat in the same seat and used the same lavatory? Iranians aren’t noted for sparkling hygiene.

          1. Yep the possibilities are endless and it may talk up to three weeks for them to manifest. Fasten on your seat belts, this one will be rough.

No doubt surviving members of our oh so independent media will praise our PM Aladdin for his valiant efforts to keep Canadians safe.

  5. so incubation period maybe 21 days, throw in that this whole thing started earlier than the Chinese reported. One has to wonder how far and wide the “spread” might actually be?

Oh, and Ooz, tell us one more time how this goes back to the “wet market”, you are, if nothing else, a usefull idiot for the chicoms

      1. well JB, I was in Guangzhou in the beginning of last Dec. and now that is a hot spot for this thing, and that village of 15 million is shut down. Glad I didn’t stay any longer

    1. ” you are, if nothing else, a usefull idiot for the chicoms”

Said the plastic recycling Gang Green sycophant, NME Garbage Man, who didn’t know China was the destination of recycled plastic..

  6. I’m sure she shops at the superstore where I shop… Her kid goes to the school dist. here… Here we go..

  7. Don’t panic, but definitely get informed, best source of information will NOT be your governments. Best source so far is Whats Up With That blog, a well-informed near-immunologist has written two articles (already somewhat out of date, but still pertinent)
    https://wattsupwiththat.com/2020/02/14/wuhan-coronavirus-wuwt-update/
    https://wattsupwiththat.com/2020/02/10/wuhan-coronavirus-a-wuwt-scientific-commentary/
bottom line stay away from crowds, especially public transport. Older people with compromised lung function are especially susceptible.
Canaduh government will definitely screw up.

  8. What is the government doing to prevent this from destroying Canadian banks? What is their exposure to Chinese borrowers through mortgage lending? And what will be the spillover in real estate if defaults really get going? Justin needs to call in some adults for advice. Butts, the collective wisdom of Laurentia, and the usual cabal who run Canada will not do.

  9. It’s not an epidemic, it’s a massive embracing of cultural diversity. Only racists refuse to get sick.

  10. I just noticed that Canadian guns stores run low on the most popular calibers of ammunition. Grab yours while you can.

  11. Get a grip. For most people it’s just a case of the sniffles. Never seen so much panic about nothing.

    1. Minimum 2% death rate. If everyone gets it that’s a one in 50 chance you’ll be dead by Hallowe’en.
Or its 150 million people out of 7.5 billion. So what who cares. Typical sociopath.
      And who is panicking?

    2. Right, you must know something that chicom authorities do not. Care to share that nugget of wisdom? Oh and remember to share it also with those chicoms doctors that have been dropping like flies lately.

  12. Assume you will catch it.
    Quarantine is didn’t/doesn’t work
    Mitigation will do SFA.
The government will downplay and lie till the last minute.
So What says its the sniffles.
Look on the bright side: spring in the northern hemisphere is 4 weeks away.

  13. 1919 Flu reached every corner of the planet including isolated Aleutian Islands, the plague killed indiscriminately, body collectors would make a “bring out your dead” call – to the living obviously, which was the majority of people even though many perished.

Fatalists might conclude that their are strains of virus out there that will kill every fifth person when it’s let loose, or tenth person, or third person, and there’s sweet F#@& all we can do about it.
