Several patients of the deadly coronavirus in China who were discharged from care are testing positive for COVID-19 again, according to Chinese state media.
Beijing-owned newspaper People’s Daily reported Friday a former patient in Szechuan Province in southwest China tested positive for the killer virus behind more than 2,200 deaths in the country.

The reinfection case in Chengdu is not unique, according to physician Zhao Jianping, a respiratory and critical care specialist at Tongji Hospital in Wuhan. Zhao said one his patients tested positive for the virus after being discharged.
Zhao told Chinese state media a discharge judgment should be “made carefully.”

The main question now is, have we not over-delayed downing all incoming planes and torpedoing all incoming ships?
“Downing all incoming planes” is a bad idea because you can’t control where they fall. Unless your air defense has the reach to ensure everything falls far enough out to sea. (Which, ours doesn’t.) If it is desperate enough to justify what you suggest, the better method would be to entice them to land at quarantined airstrips and destroy them on the ground. Worst case, someone might escape but at least you’d know about it where and when it happened.
But the reality we face is that this is too big and the freedom of people to move is too great, it’s going to spread. We should make great efforts to quarantine, to contain, and to detect and tract carriers, etc. but we are going to have to deal with failures of these measures, and we will lose people. Everybody dies of something or other eventually so for some of us it’s going to be this, and sooner than we’d like.
I think we can safely assume the virus is loose in Iran and uncontained. Given the number of Iranians in Canada I think the news from Vancouver and Toronto is going to get very alarming very fast. On the bright side, our illustrious leader just finished a visit where he was shaking hands with the grand poppas in Iran so we can hope he’s been exposed.
Apart for Chicoms and Iran I am waiting for news from the world’s largest open toilet called India, I am sure that their reported three cases (all recovered btw) are all. Suuuuure.
In other news, Wuhan syndrome is rampant in Chinese prisons. 500 cases in three provinces, and that’s just the ones Beijing will admit to.

Testing and treatment was reserved for those they thought they might save. Also found an interview in Statnews from Jan 24 (!) with much interesting things to say. Including hey we’ve been looking at complete genomes from China since Jan 10 (face plant). Just one month after the “first case” and wow we can’t believe how crazy fast we got the complete genome. The interview goes on to say essentially we won the lottery with some infected unicorn infecting one person and the entire epidemic has transpired from human to human transmission from some singular event some time in November. Not from some reservoir of infectie unicorns infecting multiple people, but a singular event. Anyone keeping track of all the low probability co-incidents?

Its just Iran “spreading the love” it received from China. This may remove a lot of unhappy Millennials from the voting rolls in our bigger cities, my brother jokingly said he was heading North and blowing up all the bridges out of Toronto behind him. I heard a supposed Canadian expert on the radio saying that quarantine is bullshit in reference to the latest batch of carriers flying in. He said mitigation makes more sense because its loose and its not going away.
I figure to stock up on onions and just tie a new one on my belt after the old one turns black.
Just checked those dates. Trudeau met with a bunch of Iranians in Kuwait Feb 14th. He may well have been exposed to the Corona virus from those contacts and he should be self quarantining now.

It seems that the lung infection that turns into pneumonia is caused by the virus attaching to ACE2 receptors in the lungs. Asians have a LOT more of these than other races, so it is seemingly much worse for them.
