Climategate 2020: The Blacklist

Forbes;

A climate advocacy group called Skeptical Science hosts a list of academics that it has labeled “climate misinformers.” The list includes 17 academics and is intended as a blacklist. We know of this intent because one of the principals of Skeptical Science, a blogger named Dana Nuccitelli, said so last Friday, writing of one academic on their list, “if you look at the statements we cataloged and debunked on her [Skeptical Science] page, it should make her unhirable in academia.”

That so-called “unhirable” academic is Professor Judy Curry, formerly the chair of the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Georgia Tech, and a Fellow of both the American Geophysical Union and American Meteorological Society. By any conventional academic metric, Curry has compiled an impressive record over many decades. The idea that she would be unhirable would seem laughable.

But there is nothing funny about Skeptical Science. Today, Curry should be a senior statesperson in the atmospheric sciences community. Instead, she is out of academia. She attributes that, at least in part, to being placed on the Skeptical Science blacklist and its use, as expressed by Nuccitelli, to make her “unhirable.”

I asked Professor Curry about this situation. She explained, “In 2012 I was informed by my Dean that the administration wanted me to step down as Chair. While there were several reasons for this, one obvious reason was extreme displeasure by several activist climate scientists who had a very direct pipeline to the Dean.”

So Curry stepped down and started looking for administrative positions at other universities, “At the time, I was getting numerous inquiries from academic headhunters encouraging me to apply for major administration positions, ranging from Dean to Vice Chancellor for Research. I applied for several of these, and actually interviewed for two of them. I did not make it to the final short list.”

Closer to home: The City of Regina is axing self-described “sensible environmentalist” Patrick Moore from its sustainability conference this spring.

Not an innocent mistake. Did you think they’d stop at gender “science”?

  1. There was a time when employers kept blacklists of communists, anarcho-socialists and other anti-capitalist troublemakers. It was a practice which would be an excellent idea even today. Funny how that was a problem and this isn’t.

  2. Climate alarmists are eco-marxist garbage. Useless cockroaches. It’ll get to the point where it’s either them rounding us up for the gulags or us doing it to them. This won’t end well.

  3. As Dr. Patrick Moore said last week–“-Science should never be about consensus ! It should be about questioning hypothesis”! The anthropogenic gang are not about science , they are about re-distribution of the world’s wealth! At the same time destroying an important industry in Western Canada–our oil! They are the BROWN SHIRTS of our time!

    1. No, it is about control.
Re-distribution is but a small piece of the puzzle.
Self-reliant people cannot be controlled or bullied. Take away peoples’ ability to take care of themselves they go under the control of the dictator. Anyone stepping out of line is cut off.
Climate change and its exploitation is nothing new. Virgins were tossed into volcanoes to control the climate. Aztecs cut peoples’ hearts out and sacrificed them to the sun god. The goal was controlling people with climate as an excuse.

      1. The Brown shirts in Germany 1939 were control , brutal power, and in many ways dealt in mind control of the ordinary German Citizen ; so Mike you are correct! I used re distribution because that’s what Otto Oberhoffer said on his retirement from leading working Group 3 IPCC)! ” My 25 years at the IPCC has had nothing to do with climate but the re-distribution of the World’s wealth!”

  4. There’s Canadian content here of the disgraceful kind. That Dana Nuccitelli is a cockroach is no surprise and has been so for two decades. What he does as a slime-blogger is made possible by desmogblog, run by a Canadian PR firm in Vancouver headed by Jim Hoggan. Meet the frauds:

    1. “Lefebvre admitted to laundering billions of dollars in illegal gambling proceeds through his company, NETeller – a British online money transfer company that also traded in carbon dioxide emission credits.”

      This is my shocked face.

  5. Dr. Patrick Moore said it well: “The whole climate crisis is not only Fake News, it’s fake Science. There is no climate climate crisis, there’s weather and climate all around the world, and in fact carbon dioxide is the main building block of all life. Professor Emeritus Michael Hart of Carleton University also put it well: “Politicians are throwing money they do not have, at a problem that does not exist, in order to finance solutions that make no difference.” Dr. Hart wrote a book about climate change entitled “Hubris” of almost 600 pages. I have it and read it. It is excellent!

  6. I am glad this is published in Forbes. It needs to be republished in one of the Canadian news courses. A line has been crossed and I believe most people would be very offended by this if they knew it was happening.

    1. Sorry to say not likely many Canadians would take much notice; after all, so many voted Liberal, or even worse. That being said, even the CPC sold out with the Paris Climate accord.

  7. “Skeptical Science”, the website brought to you by John Cook, the guy who made-up the “97% Consensus”.

What more need be said? (-_-)

  8. “Climate Science is the art of designing climate models that use fake data & false assumptions to predict catastrophes that will never happen.” – Paraphrased from commenter Gwyn ap Nudd on Real Climate Science.

“Climate model projections aren’t real, they’re fantasies that ‘climate scientists’ wish were happening in the real world. They’re climate porn.” – Paraphrased from commenter RAH on Real Climate Science

“God would not design the earth to work in such a way that humans could destroy it by doing such ordinary things like breathing and farting…” – Paraphrased from theologian Wayne Grudem

“Nearly every day, the planet fluctuates between -125F and +135F. Who in their right mind cares about a 1 degree change?” – Commenter Latitude on Real Climate Science

“Believing that CO2 controls the climate is like believing in magic.” – Richard Lindzen, Atmospheric Physicist, MIT Professor Emeritus

    1. Yea, the SCIENCE is SETTL$D all right
      Dollar sign inserted on purpose.

      As I’ve noted before;
It was settled Before Copernicus day
It was settled Before Galileo’s day
It was settled Before Columbus’ day
And it was fully settled as Voyageur 1 & 2 lifted off.

It should be obvious to anyone with an inkling of critical thinking that Science is never settled. When it is..?? It’s no longer Science, it’s Relgious Fanatacism as witnessed throughout History.

Funny that no one seems to care or note what 2 of the UN’s IPCC top Execs have said Point BLANK. “Its about changing the Economic Engine of the past 150 yrs. (Christina Figueres). “its about using Climate Policy to re-distribute the worlds wealth (Otmar Edenhoffer).

We are under ATTACK 24/7 by COMMUNISTS. That is the issue.

      1. I heard similar crapola in Sunday sermons 40 years ago. If the minister didn’t whine about South Africa or Central America, it was that the wrong people had too much money. Of course the “wrong” people always turned out to be deplorables like me.

          1. As far as that congregation, and its minister, were concerned, any deplorable, regardless of net worth, had too much money.

They regarded all conservative Albertans has being rich as oil sheiks who were to be disparaged at every opportunity.

        1. church sermons.
out of some dozen churches Ive attended, 5 of them treated me like dirt.
3 of *them* no longer exist.
2 of *them* gone since 2015

I asked a preacher to tell the congregation my gf had passed away the previous Monday. I was crushed with guilt, saw the medical signs but complied with her insistence to just carry on with the day.

it would have taken him some 20 seconds to so so but he refused. “she didnt attend” was the ‘reason’.
curiously enough, about 4 yrs after that, he was gone as well.

          not lOOkin’ good from the pulpit . . . . . . . . .

  9. Unshocking. Government spends a lot of money on activist academics who offer scientific proof that every change in the weather requires more carbon taxes. It’s modern science.

  10. The blacklist is necessary because dissenting scientists keep pointing out the flaws in the data and models. The non-conformist scientists then notice that each new epicycle created to fix “problematic” data to maintain the theory of human centered, catastrophic climate change weakens the integrity of the science and scientists. Climate change lukewarmers and those skeptical of the official catastrophic climate change models and how those flawed models skew political policies must be silenced for exposing the flaws behind the human-centric climate theory.

I suspect that someday the human-centric climate theory will join the earth-centered solar system theory in the trash bin of science history. Both as examples of theories that were enforced for political and religious reasons instead of scientific reasons.

  11. I think society has a mistaken view of the history of science and scientists. We think that scientists and science in history as geniuses and brave vanguards. In reality, there were only a few such people. They fought against great odds and risked their reputations (even lives) to promote non-conformist, non-establishment ideas. Most scientists and scientific organizations, past and present, promote and enforce conformity. They were/are extremely susceptible to peer pressure and groupthink. They bow to pressure from whoever holds power. I think of them as Simon Says scientists and scientific organizations. The great scientists battled against scientific consensus and entrenched interests of their era.

    1. Actually, many scientists are like this. The discordance lies in insulting them all by calling research-grant advocates and climate shills for big government “scientists”.

      1. The majority of scientists are no better or worse than the rest of us. Most people rarely have an independent thought between dawn and dusk.. Most people go with the flow. Most people avoid conflict. It’s what allows peaceful coexistence. A product of human evolution. It’s also why we admire those scientists that have had the ability to (correctly) break free of conformity and dogma , but generally this will not be in that scientists lifetime- it is posthumous admiration. Often the gatekeepers of scientific conformity must also pass on before new ideas can even be openly discussed. This accounts for the rather macabre quote “science advances one funeral at a time”.

    2. I believe that many of our government scientists fall into the Simon Says category. These would be all the ones whining about Harper “muzzling” scientists. Now what is odd is that no one spoken out when the Liberal government had them destroy all that temperature data. That happened not that long ago and nary a peep from the MSM. AGW is a deliberately constructed narrative if ever there was one.

  12. They forgot to mention, what snappy dressers the S.S Children are.
They look so dashing in their little uniforms.

  13. Climate, WOW, adapt or die for all you morons who think you can control it. We are entering a cooling period that will last for several thousand years and we will all be dead, with a few exceptions, 100 years from now. Get your heads out of your nether regions and adapt. Why? Because that is what man has had to do for thousands of years. Enjoy what we now have while you can, you will be dead and your great, great grandchildren will be coping with the comin g ice age. The next ice age is thousands of years away but it is cyclical and will happen. The 100 year death reference applies to 99.9% of all humans currently alive on the planet. There must be someone out there as smart as me?

  14. mmmwha ha ha ha !!!!!!!!!
    mcarthyism strikes agin !!!!!!!!
see how it works? its primal psychology, NO ONE wants to be the one who calls out the emperor has no clothes.
fear factor ramped up to 58 on the dial with only 10 notches.

p.s., this is why ya always needs a backup plan.
if you dont ‘get’ the meaning of THAT comment you need to ‘do your homework’ (pun intended)

  15. So Curry stepped down …

Major mistake. Never surrender. Make them fire you. And then start shooting back.
