  13. You know how each era has a word or motto that defines it. The single, perfect word that encapsulates this era is:

    Superficial

    Social media, photoshopped selfies, movies, fads and fashion, virtue signalling, political correctness, intersectionality studies …all superficial. Even a superficial understanding of biological sex.

    You can also see it the political, celebrity, media, celebrity and academic chattering classes’ climate change reactions. A superficial understanding of the science, a superficial understanding of energy systems, a superficial understanding of of the importance of reliable and affordable energy, superficial virtue signalling including gross hypocrisy. The shallowness of the intellectual depth of our chattering class is shocking.

    An example, the BBC finally admitted that the RCP 8.5 scenario isn’t, and never was, based on reality let alone the business as usual case for climate change . Yet since the creation of RCP8.5, almost every apocalyptic climate scenario masquerading as “serious” research and breathlessly reported by the media had RCP8.5 as it’s basis. And those apocalyptic scenario research then formed the foundation of the increasingly authoritarian and expensive political plans. Had the media and politicians not had only a superficial understanding of the science, much of this could gave been avoided.

He’s showing a brave and rational response to the students tantrum…and that won’t be tolerated by liberal progressives in academia so I’m sure he’ll soon be fired:

    1. More effort and emphasis should be on forcing the chattering class to walk the talk on climate change. Not offloading it on blue collar energy workers from the Prairies or promoting taxes for heating and transportation that hits most heavily on working families. Heavily tax or even ban luxury products (yachts, mansions, private airplanes), stop corporate and most political travel, lower the heating and cooling settings in Parliament and universities.

      I’d advocate making the chattering class and students aware of the unreliability of wind and solar by a phone app that sends out alerts when green energy power drops 50% below rated capacity (which is pretty much always) which then turns off their phone for a few minutes.
