  1. Signed it too, it is a symbolic gesture really. The more people sign it the more excited the libranos will be to stick it to them. Petty thugs they are.

    Elections have consequences.

  2. Any governing body that would legislate away a basic human right, that of self defence, under any supposed good of humanity, is nothing more than a grasping power hungry mob, led by a new embodiment of Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot and the rest.

    1. I am grateful that assault weapons will be banned. In a way, we have Harper and Kenney to thank for because they brought in more TFW immigrants (who were needed to help the economy) who tend to vote liberal or NDP.

TFW immigrants are simply doing the jobs that Canadian Millenial Snowflakes are too lazy and too stupid to do. Plus, Canadian Millenial snowflakes tend to read 4chan and are more racist than average.

Immigration is a win-win for Canada: less labor shortages, better economy and more progressive voters!

      1. “TFW immigrants (who were needed to help the economy) who tend to vote liberal or NDP.”

        Stop lying.

  3. And they will pay absolutely no attention to it . They won’t quit until every legal firearm is destroyed. It is just one more step in a 50year long escalation . I remember when they promised no registration . Allan Rock anyone ?

      1. “Do you have any clue about Canadian gun laws that are on the books already?”

        – And do you know how many gun laws criminals obey? – Err, sorry; yeah, that was a pretty obvious question…

    1. They already know you have them, by signing the petition you reveal nothing.

For those who don’t know how it works. Most* semi auto riffles are classified as restricted firearms. All restricted firearms are registered. You need to have a restricted possession and acquisition licence (PAL) to own them legally at the moment. All restricted firearms can only be fired at a range you are a member off. Yes, even range membership is a condition for restricted PAL. Apart for range membership you have to undergo an extensive background check and pass an exam. Of course to become a range member there is another exam. You are also required by law to comply with a plethora of often ridiculous regulations regarding storage and transportation of restricted firearms. Legal detachable magazine capacity restriction for all riffles is 5 rounds.

*Most not all, some common exceptions include SKS, some versions of VZ58, some M1 Carbines, some versions of AR180, M14 clones, Garand, some version of Type 81, Browning BAR (the hunting version not the LMG of course), Remington semi auto riffle (forgot the model number) and IIRC some versions of Mini 14. That pretty much is it. ARs, Tavors, shorter barrel version of the above unrestricted guns, are restricted. All things AKs, all things HK (G3, MP5, UMP based semi autos) or FAL etc are already prohibited. Also, all handguns that are not prohibited are restricted.

      1. I think it’s a bridge too far to say that the majority of semi automatic rifles in Canada are restricted. There is an absolute plethora of semi autos that are non restricted, way more than those that are. The ‘scary’ AR is restricted, while the ruger mini 14 ( the dreaded Ecolé Polytechnique killer) is not. Also, saying the legal limit for a rifle is 5 is also a bit misleading. In Canada, the magazine is what drives the capacity of the rifle. Believe it or not, they make “pistol” mags in some rifle calibers (.223 for instance, the scary AR again,) that fit into rifles. As long as the magazine fits the rifle and the magazine is labeled “Pistol” (It MUST be so) it can be used in the rifle it fits into. Since the maximum capacity in Canada for a pistol is 10, you can now have that full amount legally loaded. It gets even crazier, when some magazines, such as the .50 Beowulf, designed for another caliber entirely, could hold 15 rounds of .223 and was a legal configuration when loaded, thus. Those magazines have since been made prohibited.
Canadian gun laws are a hot mess, with some seemingly arbitrary rules and restrictions for one gun, when another that is almost the same in function, have none!

          1. Trying to keep the post lengths manageable, but .22lr is another story! There are NO limitations on rimfire rifles (except the ruger 10/22) which allows things like 100+ round drum mags.
There exists a pistol, called the Charger, made by Ruger, which basically a shortened version of the 10/22 rifle.. It utilizes the same magazines, which can be up to the 100round drums in size. Because of this the RCMP CFO has determined that to be an illegal combination, but instead of making that pistol and magazine combination illegal, they “banned” any magazine that is over 10 rounds that is designed for the 10/22, even though all other .22’s are unaffected. This is a contentious issue for all 10/22 owners, as those who have the over 10 round magazines designed for the 10/22 are now, in effect, paper criminals. No matter the fact that the high capacity magazines came out BEFORE the charger pistol, of which there are only around 400 in Canada (legally, we know because they are pistols and therefore, registered firearms).
This move by the RCMP, was in the form of a memo, which stated if you have the hi capacity ones, do not use, sell or transport for fear of reprisal, (confiscation etc.) so if they were really prohibited, they would be calling for them to be turned in or destroyed. Basically no ruling has been made in court to date, so owners affected are still in limbo.
To circumvent this silly “ruling” (I didn’t know the RCMP could MAKE laws) an enterprising canadian (From edmonton no less) came up with a 3D printed adapter that fits in the 10/22 magazine well and utilizes Remington 597 magazines, of which there are high capacity, greater than 10 rounds available and this was declared by the RCMP as a legal combination! (Refer to my previous post about magazine sizes)
            Hot Mess!

        1. So these people writing gun laws really don’t get that a mag/clip is essentially a box with a spring in it? Those have been 3D printable for years, in whatever size you want.

        2. You don’t think majority of semi autos riffles are restricted? Perhaps you’re right, the great thing about unrestricted guns is that they are not registered so we don’t know that. I hope you’re right. A lot of great guns are prohibited and it is probably not a stretch to argue that most types of semi auto riffles are either restricted or prohibited.

In any case I have only summarized basic rules to deflect the stupid idea above that by signing the petition one reveals something. That is obviously nonsense.

But yes, whenever government adds stupid regulations people think of ways to circumvent them. So yes, you can have the 10 round (pistol) AR mags that fit the riffle. Or people use their 10 round .40 S&W mags in their 9 mm pistols thus having 13 round capacity.

          1. All weapon sales are registered. The retailers have to keep a register of every weapon sale thanks to the Corrupt Liberals.

          2. Yes but, (i) what happens when you then sell an unrestricted riffle you bought from a retailer to a buddy at the range? (ii) you have acquired your firearm before the retailer was forced to keep records?

          3. No, I do not, there are only a few “military style” Semi autos that are restricted, the rest are not. They have semi auto shotguns, also in military style and some for hunting, skeet, etc. There are center fire semi-autos in all flavours from hunting to sporting to old military all non restricted.. A lot of great guns may be restricted, but there are a lot that are not.
As long as the magazine is legal, what you put into it and what you put it into is, for the most part, legal. And yes, those magazines that are pinned to only 5, can carry their full capacity if the small pop rivet (in most cases that’s all that limits the capacity) is drilled out, but the fine for getting caught with one is large!
There are a huge amount of guns that are traded privately, you bet! You can call in with the PAL licence number of the buyer and verify it’s validity, I guess they can track those calls to build up profiles of owners activities, but for the most part, it’s people exercising their privileges of being licensed to do so.
Yes, I am a licenced gun owner, I took the course and passed the tests and exercise mine!

          4. “No, I do not, there are only a few “military style” Semi autos that are restricted, the rest are not. ”

The rest a prohibited. I don’t know where you’re getting your information from. Very few in fact are left unrestricted.

    2. I signed and I don’t have any guns.
I’m tired of the Lieberals’ war on farmers and duck hunters. They won’t crack down on Asian gangs because criminals vote Liberal. Farmers and duck hunters usually vote for the opposition.
And, with all tyrants, it is easier to bully law abiding citizens than go after hard-core criminals.

      1. Uhh, the Russian SKS IS a military rifle, made of wood and steel and is also limited to 5 rounds of its 10 round integral magazine capacity. There are detachable magazines that fit the SKS, but none are of the “pistol” variety, so are pinned to 5 rounds.. Another actual military rifle, the M1 Garand (Canadian designer) has an integral 8 round en-block magazine, that is not limited to 5 (it carries 8 30.06 rounds.)
There is no rhyme or reason for some gun laws in Canada!
One can take the firearms, restricted firearms and hunters courses from some excellent and informative instructors and the apply for said licences, after passing a practical and written exam. Some instructors are very detailed in their legal aspects section of the course and is worth it, just to gain some knowledge in that regard!

    1. It means whatever Humpty-Liberal wants it to mean.
E.g. in infantry doctine in my time (1980s) there were three phases to an attack: Approach, Assault, Fight Through.) Most British Empire and Commonwealth infantrymen in the World Wars and Korean War used Lee Enfield service rifles, the No.4 or the No.1Mk.III, which were bolt-action, long and heavy with full-length wooden stocks, and had ten round magazines. Those were their weapons when they were assaulting a position. Millions of them were sold surplus and they were commonly converted to hunting rifles by cutting the stocks shorter to look more like hunting rifles and reduce weight (you can even get black plastic stocks that fit,) and by having mounts fitted for telescopic sights

So soon Grandpa’s old service rifle, converted to a hunting rifle that has been handed down through a couple generations will be described as an military-grade, high-capacity, high-powered assault/sniper weapon. (Probably not in this round of bans and confiscation, but the next. Because when they have banned semi-auto sporting rifles like the AR-15 for looking scary, they’ll need a scapegoat for the next round of “Look everybody, we are doing something about all the drug dealing gangs shooting up Toronto with there pistols smuggled in from the U.S.A. Vote for us.”)

    2. 1. Looks extra scary to a Librano voter.
      2. A typical import from Africa or Middle East can strip it down with their eyes closed.

    3. “Still not sure what “military style” means.”

      – Interestingly, I can answer that; it means “exactly what the government decide they want it to mean”.

  4. Filthy corrupt Liberals and their Joke Justice system can’t stand to punish criminals, especially those who are “racialized” so they go after law-abiding citizens.
“Evidence-based” decisions? Yeah. The evidence is that the majority of gun owners don’t vote for corrupt Liberals. As they make these laws they’re actually jerking off while they turn a couple hundred thousand Canadian conservatives into criminals overnight. Double bliss.
The irony is that they’ll use their Joke Justice system to make pre-dawn raids with fascist cops holding AR’s without 5 round mag rivets just itching to shoot your dog or shoot you like a dog.
Another irony: when there was a shooting in downtown Ottawa a couple weeks ago the Parliamentary Protective Services on Parliament Hill had their AR’s out 60 seconds later. Protection for me, but not for thee.
    Think Blackie’s Boyz don’t have any weapons…

    1. Thanks to the LIeberals we don’t have a justice system. We have a legal system for Lieberal lawyers to exploit as a money making game.

  5. Won’t have any effect. The vast majority of gun crime is in the large urban areas, carried out with illegally owned hand guns.

The vast majority of left leaning voters is also in the large urban areas. They’re frightened every time there’s a shooting. Gun control measures are not intended to reduce gun crime or violence, they’re to placate the urban voters, to appear to be doing something. This is a proven tactic to win urban votes. They already don’t get any votes from the pro-gun citizens, so the petition will be laughed off and ignored.

  6. A 100,000 signature petition submitted to the Sask. Party government in Saskatchewan and to the Conservative government in Alberta, demanding a vote on Wexit, that would actually be noticed in Ottawa.

P.M. Justin Trudeau thinks that men working in construction of oil pipelines in rural areas would be a danger to rural women. Therefore, he must think the same of the men who work on farms, ranches and in mines, too.

Prairie governments too weak to defend the economic and political interests of their residents will soon find their provinces reduced to the level of a territory. This as we were before the first Riel Rebellion succeed and with their Bill of Rights of 1869. It demanded that their farm producers have a connection to the nearest available railway to get their produce to market. The nearest railway then was in North Dakota. Getting the message, Sir John A. MacDonald managed the first trans-Canada railway. Canada, from sea to sea, was not a viable economic reality, before that.

To create a pacified, demoralized citizenry civilian, disarmament changes us from freemen to serfs.

The Trudeau Liberals target is the destruction of Canada as a self-governing nation of free people.

Alberta and Saskatchewan won’t recover economically without pipelines to tidewater. A looming recession will lead to those capable of earning a living leaving for someplace with genuine economic growth, someplace to raise a family. An economic collapse will result in a political collapse, too.

Making Canada into “the first post-nation state” is Justin Trudeau’s biggest dream.

Presently, there are only two Premiers, who can stop him, but only if they understand the archetype within the meme of the patron saint of England, St. George slaying the dragon and saving the maiden. It they are willing to lead from the front, risking all, to rally the citizenry. Then and only then, can a true north, strong and free, survive, in part or hopefully in full again, someday.

Strong male role models of masculinity and leadership, have been banished from our popular culture and censored from our history for a reason, by the Cult. Marxists. Civilian disarmament serves the post-modern meme of toxic masculinity. We’re being indoctrinated away from the founding principles, one of sovereign and free individuals delegating their authourity to elected representatives, but not giving it up, to the totalitarian one of only privileges granted or not, by a totalitarian state.

A proper British classical liberal education included tales of heroism, the archetype rang true. This excerpt from The Lays of Ancient Rome is one of them, one that Winston Churchill recalled fondly during WW2’s darkest days. Recited by this 12 year old British schoolgirl, if it echos to something inside of you. It qualifies as an archetype. Never give up, no matter what the odds.

I present this stirring, classic tale of masculinity “Horatio at the bridge” by Emily Steinbach.

  7. I have a Ruger 10/22that has a conversion kit installed on it. It now looks like a “scary assault rifle”
I’m eager to see how that will be categorized.

  8. If you have a “military-style assault weapon” would it be OK if you paint it pink and add rainbow and unicorn decals and rename it a “nurturing rifle”? Just asking for a friend.

  9. the simplistic, naive, child-like thinking on gun laws, for me, is the time I was a member of the Hamilton target shooting club,
the notion was put forth that target shooters were to
    leave
    their
    firearms
    at
    the
    club.

    ?
    ooooooo kay.
in other words, the gun runners now know exactly where to hit to get lots of them and make it worthwhile?

the word does not exist in English to fully convey the STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPIDITY of such ‘whatever it is’.
I think it was back in the days of paul martinet jr.

  10. “A government is the most dangerous threat to man’s rights; it holds a legal monopoly on the use of physical force against legally disarmed victims.” – Ayn Rand

I always wondered why Pierre updated the Emergency Planning Order to include ‘security of energy supplies’ when Peter Lougheed was cutting oil production in Alberta in his scrap over the NEP in the 1980s.

  11. I do not own a gun, nor know how to use one, but defend the principle that those of you who do should not have your legal right abolished in a quest to reduce gun crime, which we all know involves mostly imported, illegal weapons.

Usually, when communities ban stuff, it is a simplistic overreaction, and erodes individual freedom.
