  1. The Bang (not a Whimper) of Settled Science
“In death of dinosaurs, it was all about the asteroid—not volcanoes”
    1. “Volcanic activity in the late Cretaceous caused a gradual global warming event of about two degrees, but not mass extinction,” said former Yale researcher Michael Henehan… “A number of species moved toward the North and South poles but moved back well before the asteroid impact.” – Note: Two degrees didn’t cause a mass extinction then, and it won’t when/if it happens again…

    2. Added Hull, “A lot of people have speculated that volcanoes mattered to K-Pg, and we’re saying, ‘No, they didn’t.'”
Note: Scientists can’t even agree on what happened in the past, but 90% know what is going to happen in the future.

    1. Funny how this SETTLED $CIENCE thing has gone throughout the Ages.
And its always been defended with religious like Fanaticism.

your average loon standing on the corner downtown anywhere screeching the end is nigh.

But today is different of course… as we are told there is a CRISIS</iB and by God & the UN, you must PAY..!!

(don’t.?? and the Beheadings start at noon – interestingly enough, every Western nation on the planet has those more than willing to wield a sword)

      1. I heard on a CBC talk show today that the “unprecedented” blizzard in Newfoundland this week was predicted by the prophets of climate doom. The caller said the storm was driven by a hurricane (it didn’t originate in the tropics so that makes no sense). I turned it off when the next guest was a top climatologist. I’m sure he was going to note that in 2001, St. Johns buried a 119 year snowfall record with 599.8 cm accumulated for the season. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/st-john-s-buries-119-year-snowfall-record-1.262216 Global warming.

    1. Just wait. The families of the Air India bombing are going to demand their “fair share”.
How stupid can that (starts with c and rhymes with hunt) in Ottawa get?

  2. U.S. Court rejects Omar Khadr’s War Crimes Appeal:

TORONTO — An American civilian court has refused to order a military court to decide an appeal from former Guantanamo Bay prisoner Omar Khadr.

In a brief decision this week, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit denied Khadr’s request to force the issue.

“At this time, (Khadr) has not demonstrated a ‘clear and indisputable right’ to the extraordinary remedy,” the court said.

    1. EXCELLENT…another bit of National SOCIALIST garbage that was foisted on Americans obliterated. TRUMP doing what he can to re-introuce FREEDOM in America. ‘Cause thats what this was about. An in yer face decree by de-facto NAZI’s in the White House…just like the NAZI’s in the PMO and Cabinet up here.

      Call them what they are.

  3. National Post reports that Blackie has his Governor General campaigning among foreign diplomats, to get that UN security seat.

    1. And when she starts talking it should pretty well kill any chance of getting that seat.
Not that getting actually meant anything.

    2. As the Queen’s representative that is completely out of line. Doubt that Ms Julie would know or care if she does.

    3. Turdeau needs a straw hat and cane to go with his black face to do his soft shoe to impress the African members to gain their support.

  4. And now Blackie’s Saturday Toronto Star. Editorial that Justin is perfect. We are so blessed to have him, and he rightly blamed Hitler Trump for the Iran tragedy. Tony Burman explains now that Trump is being thrown out of office, we need to turn to the wise teachings of Pierre Trudeau to get us through the times ahead. Unifor journalist explains that we don’t need parliament or question period, because Justin is doing such a great job as dictator. Democracy is not needed in Canada. Story that resource projects need to be turned over to indians. Indians are wonderful. Numerous Doug Ford is Hitler stories. Carefully selected letters to the editor from downtown Toronto, that nuclear energy is evil and we need to turn down the thermostats and concentrate on green energy scams. Latest reviews in the entertainment section of gay/feminist books and plays. More Justin is wonderful stories, the Liberal Party is wonderful, Canadians are racist bastards.

  5. The UN Is A Joke
    https://nationalpost.com/news/first-nations-chief-blasts-condescending-un-anti-racism-directive-that-called-for-pipeline-to-be-shut-down
“But in an interview with Reuters published Thursday, CERD chair Noureddine Amir admitted that the committee did not study First Nations views toward the project, saying he “did not know” that most communities supported it.
“I did not know that most First Nations agree on that,” he told Reuters. “This is something new that comes to my understanding.” He further said he did not seek out further information on the project because the role of the committee does not involve investigative work.”

Sound like Blackie’s kind of people.

    1. Why DJT even allows it to exit in NYCIty remains a wonder to me.
I think I’d be telling them your funding is Gone kiddies…and we are taking back your building too.

Move to Africa to be closer to your people – fund the thing yourselves.
Aaaahh, that I’d live to see the day…

    1. They have gotten it WRONG since the day they came out with this BS Flu Shot.

I tried it one time bout 7 yrs ago. Didn’ get Sick per se, but felt shitty for 3-4 months thereafter. When I told our Family Dr about that – she lost her shit.!! No Joke: “..well, I dont see any reason why we are even doing annual exams then..” QUOTE END QUOTE. I was floored..!! suffice to say, i’ve changed Drs. HAd had enough of that old Bat.

The Flu can NEVER Be vaccined…its a RETRO Virus that evolves faster than you can say boo…all the time, just like the Cold. Voodoo BS Science…IMO.

      1. It was earlier than that for me, 20 – 25 years ago perhaps. I was so sick for months that I thought that I would have to retire.

    1. Over at the Citizen Free Press they are suggestion the Vancouver shack is $27 million!

Maybe Megs Sparkle thinks Trump is in the another 4. May as well hunker down in Vancouver and wait him out in comfortable digs.

  6. Our intellectual and moral betters — in this case the Ottawa Citizen — have, come up with the description: two teen men, after a diversity encounter with an innocent man in his 50s::
    https://ottawacitizen.com/news/two-teen-men-on-trial-over-beating-of-senior-in-vanier

Does anybody know of any two teen men. Good expression that. Some serve in our military. A better description would be quote two disadvantaged, equality-seeking youths unquote. Poor youths! The were aggrieved, coming up to a white man in his 50s coming from a bank machine. (sarc)

  7. A just released editorial addressing an analysis of the CBC by a Canadian independent business journal, appears to have been written in support of the upcoming CBC’s licence renewal pitch to the CRTC.
I have no doubt that the opinions of many SDA commenters re the Mother Corp will remain unchanged; indeed, in some quarters this piece could incite clamor for immediate dissolution.

    The premise:
“If we want Canadian culture to exist, we have no greater asset than the CBC.”

The editorial is bolstered by stats and facts, such as:
“Splitting out the English and French appropriation of the funds and adjusting for population, for every $1 the CBC spends on French services, it spends just 35 cents on English—that’s down 21 per cent, from 44 cents in 2010.”

And acknowledgment of the need for change:
“For the CBC to serve all Canadians and thrive in the next decade, it needs major governance reform, the banishment of all advertising and a commitment to reform from within.”

In my view these changes would fall well short of a remedy for the excessive (in terms of value for a dollar spent) government funding and the biases, propaganda and distorted (at best) information generated by the CBC.
After reading the complete editorial I am more convinced than ever that the CBC must go.

Write the CRTC giving your opinion of renewing the CBC broadcast licence.

  8. RE: Long distance telephone. – That has got to be the most useless documentary I have ever seen; and I have seen some bad ones. The only explanation on how long distance worked that I heard was that there were hundreds of “magic houses” that somehow accomplished it.

  9. Why do all the women in the video have the identical hair style? Was it company policy that required the operators to all have the same haircut?

    1. They had similar styles because of these, likely:
      https://www.1900s.org.uk/1940s-curling-overnight.htm
As a 70’s girl it was utter freedom not to have to put on those tortuous hair pulling things! By the 70s long straight hair was in. I’m sure you remember, yes?

      BTW —
Enjoyed your Henry VIII (written) discussion with Old Bruin the other day!

      1. As a 70’s girl it was utter freedom not to have to put on those tortuous hair pulling things!

        They’re baaaaaaaaack!

The other day, I was in the gym when a couple young enough to be my grandchildren came in. She had her hair in curlers and thought those were pretty neat. I mentioned to her that women of my generation discarded them, likening them to medieval instruments of torture, only to proceed to singe their hair with curling irons (at least some of the ones I knew in my younger days).

          1. That song is so beautiful. Thanks NR.

Sitting by the wood stove. Got a hot rum going. Blues show on the box. I interrupted it to watch the Richard Galliano vid – whata player.

          2. “Padam, Padam” is very sophisticated playing. A complicated arrangement.

Under Paris Skies makes you think of France – in another time. Very nice duet.

          3. Saw Lucky Peterson once in Edmonton 30 years ago. He was this skinny little guy who came out on stage dressed in a grey taxi drivers suit. Red stripe down the leg, peaked cap.

      2. “By the 70s long straight hair was in”
I guess that’s right Nancy, people looking back at our old year books will say the same thing:
‘Why does everyone have the same style haircut?’

        1. “Why does everyone have the same haircut?”

Or lack of a haircut…like these guys, remember them in video below?

Actually, by the 70s the hair got even longer for the guys, some of my friends wore it shoulder length. Right guys? So cool, so cheap….so cute:

  10. Its time once again to play how stupid are Canadians. New poll show that Blackie’s popularity is rising. Guess women really like his new beard and carefully ruffled hair.

    1. It must be the new symbol of soyboy socialism. If I recall correctly, I think the commie mayor here in Edmonton sprouted some whiskers as well.

  11. From Neuroscience News
Alzheimer’s memory loss reversed by new head device using electromagnetic waves.
    https://neurosciencenews.com/alzheimers-memory-electromagnetic-waves-14920/
It appears legitimate: The study is being published in the new issue of the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease.

“Perhaps the best indication that the two months of treatment was having a clinically-important effect on the AD patients in this study is that none of the patients wanted to return their head device to the University of South Florida/Byrd Alzheimer’s Institute after the study was completed”…

One patient even exclaimed “I’ve come back.”

      1. Robert of Ottawa: Yahoo Finance has a longer article:
        https://finance.yahoo.com/news/alzheimers-memory-loss-reversed-easy-172700449.html

It links to the medical trial at the US National Library of Medicine:
Safety and Efficacy of Transcranial Electromagnetic Treatment Against Alzheimer’s Disease
        https://finance.yahoo.com/news/alzheimers-memory-loss-reversed-easy-172700449.html

The Yahoo article notes: “These results provide preliminary evidence that the neuromodulary approach we assessed in this very small, uncontrolled study may have the capacity to enhance cognitive performance in patients with mild to moderate disease and seems to be relatively safe and well-tolerated.”
One small headset for a man, one giant leap for mankind? It could be bigger than the EV auto revolution.

  12. Bill De Blasio is a POS
    https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/newspolitics/ice-issues-list-of-fugitive-illegal-immigrants-freed-by-new-york-citys-sanctuary-city-policies/ar-BBZ5t4t?ocid=spartandhp
“But Albence cited statistics saying that last year ICE lodged 7,526 detainers via its New York field office. Those individuals accounted for 17,873 criminal convictions and 6,500 criminal charges. He went on to say that those charges and convictions include over 200 homicides, over 500 robberies, over 1,000 sexual offenses, over 1,000 weapons offenses, and over 3,500 assaults.
However, only about 10 detainers were honored by the city, officials said.”
De Blasio has accused the Trump administration of using “scare tactics” and accused officials of “spreading lies about the good work of the NYPD.”

  13. Well its cold and has been snowing here all day in rural Ontario. I’ve had to plow the lane to the barn out back twice. The cat is having great fun watching me from the window. All I keep thinking is that I’m sure glad Blackie and his 36 cabinet ministers have burned jet fuel to Manitoba to discuss global warming.

  14. “He put the fat in fatwa!”
    —————-
A morbidly obese ISIS fanatic dubbed “Jabba the Jihadi” has been captured by Iraqi forces — who loaded him onto a flatbed truck because he couldn’t fit in a police car.

The 560-pound mufti Abu Abdul Bari, also known as Shifa al-Nima, was nabbed Thursday by an elite SWAT team of the Nineveh regiment in the city of Mosul, according to Stars and Stripes.

The jumbo jihadist was known for “provocative speeches against the security forces” and is considered one of the top leaders of “ISIS gangs,” Iraqi security officials said in a statement.

      1. You might like them better now that they are dropping the titles and government money. I doubt if it will be for long. They’ll spend their money and learn what being taxed really means. They’ll end up back in Britain one day after they declare bankruptcy. Fergie tried it on her own and had a hard time and went back to Andrew after the divorce.
