  1. Well, I don’t even give them the satisfaction of a click now.

BTW, looks like that “dead cat bounce” thing earlier this week is over:

    TORSTAR CORPORATION Common Stock
    0.43 CAD −0.0100 (2.27%)

    1. CJ, as in worthless without Trudeau’s money, that being taxpayers money. Why the hell is my name and email being dumped and I am asked for a valid email at every post???????

  2. if it were not for the taxpayer, the Brown Star would be out of business long ago.
All the correct evidence is right in front of them but leftist propaganda must prevail.
Houses built too close to forested areas with no buffer- don’t report
Brush and trashy shrubbery not removed – don’t report
Arsonists and careless smokers – don’t report
    Lightning strikes – don’t report
Past weather patterns of typical dry conditions – don’t report
We must become vegan socialist serfs to save mother Gaia – report
Dog urinating on trees – report as irrefutable evidence of man-made climate change

Too many people – even supposedly intelligent – fall for this crap.

  3. Climate Arses hate the arson word.
So if climate change causes fires, floods and hurricanes and tornadoes, etc. what causes the nice weather?

    1. When conservatives kill a some puppies … we get a few nice weather days. That’s what the left would like you to believe.

  4. The misinformation in the Star is deliberate. Here’s an unpublished letter to the editor dated January 7.

“Agenda-driven Star reporters simply can’t resist blaming each and every calamity on climate change. Australian bushfires are a good example.

Clearly the current weather makes fires more difficult to control but dry hot conditions in Australia are not unprecedented. What gets lost in the biased reporting is the cause of the fires. According to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation “About 85 per cent are related to human activity, 13 per cent confirmed arson and 37 per cent suspected arson,” he said.

Furthermore, Australia’s misguided forestry practices banning small controlled burns have created ample fuel for the inevitable larger fires that occur periodically.

If climate change were the true cause wildfires would be on the increase – they are not. The observed decline is actually a cause for concern. NASA reports: “Globally, the total acreage burned by fires declined 24 percent between 1998 and 2015, according to a new paper published in Science. Scientists determined that the decline in burned area was greatest in savannas and grasslands, where fires are essential for maintaining healthy ecosystems and habitat conservation.”

  5. I guess the 183 arrested did nothing because it does not fit the “narrative ” as they say.

  6. Not only is the Star thoroughly dishonest, it has the totally unquestioning backing of the toothless National NewsMedia Council (NNC). They published an article by Nate Laurie claiming that climate change has made the world nearly five times as dangerous as it was in the 1970’s. In fact, deaths from climate related causes have declined significantly in spite of a doubled global population. This is an easily verified indisputable fact. The Star falsely claimed to have conflicting evidence but refused to produce it – it doesn’t exist.
The NNC refused to hear a complaint ridiculously claiming that they had “verified” the Star’s imaginary evidence.

This note was circulated to all leading news organizations – none of them found it newsworthy!

“In the NNC’s considered opinion the Star has an absolute right to knowingly publish outrageously erroneous content on a topic with significant public policy implications and to use fictional sources to support their claim!

“There is no breach of journalism standards” – National NewsMedia Council

    1. Toronto Star article gets facts spectacularly wrong, by 719% to 4500%.
    2. Reader files complaint with irrefutable evidence of Star errors.
    3. Star rejects complaint, falsely claiming relevant contrary evidence.
    4. National NewsMedia Council unreservedly supports Star – claiming to have “confirmed” evidence that doesn’t exist!
    5. Source for the Star’s erroneous ‘facts’ – a reporter’s mistake.
    6. NNC’s reasons for refusing to hear complaint provide a graphic explanation for why media can’t be trusted.

    See attached.

  7. A good summary of the facts by Dr. Roy Spencer’s excellent blog:

    1) Global wildfire activity has decreased in recent decades, making any localized increase (or decrease) in wildfire activity difficult to attribute to ‘global climate change’.
    2) Like California, Australia is prone to bushfires every year during the dry season. Ample fuel and dry weather exists for devastating fires each year, even without excessive heat or drought, as illustrated by the record number of hectares burned (over 100 million) during 1974-75 when above-average precipitation and below-average temperatures existed.
    3) Australian average temperatures in 2019 were well above what global warming theory can explain, illustrating the importance of natural year-to-year variability in weather patterns (e.g. drought and excessively high temperatures).
    4) Australia precipitation was at a record low in 2019, but climate models predict no long-term trend in Australia precipitation, while the observed trend has been upward, not downward. This again highlights the importance of natural climate variability to fire weather conditions, as opposed to human-induced climate change.
    5) While reductions in prescribed burning have probably contributed to the irregular increase in the number of years with large bush fires, a five-fold increase in population in the last 100 years has greatly increased potential ignition sources, both accidental and purposeful.

  8. Blackie’s Toronto Star is so left wing, that Shree today is accusing the CBC of being racist bastards just like the rest of Canadians. She is upset that Blackie the Pirate’s CBC had a story on anchor babies in Canada. Apparently its racist to be upset that people come here to have babies in order for them to get citizenship.

    1. Now Heather Mallick at the Star has joined Shree in defending foreigners coming here and birthing their babies, to gain Canadian citizenship. Blackie’s Toronto Star insists that its ok for foreigners to scam the system.

  9. Zero because It’s “Fake News”.
They have probably never printed “forest jihad ” either.

  10. Without the bogus climate change charge, the left has nothing else to beat us with. Everything is going swimmingly for the most part.

Climate change means global warming or global cooling. Ask a leftist which it is and you will draw a blank. They can’t say it’s cooling because if warming is bad, then cooling might just be good. But it’s not. Cooling would be much worse.

So why don’t they just say Global Warming? Because it isn’t happening … so the try to cover their bullshit with the generic ‘climate change’.

CC happens all the time it’s the norm. …. we call it weather.

If you want global warming to go away … simply stop talking about it. It doesn’t exist so it’s easy to ignore.

  11. A false claim that a big wave of arson is driving Australia’s raging bushfires has gone viral this week on social media, particularly among climate skeptics grasping for a counter-narrative about the wildfire disaster.
    […]
In many instances, the people promoting the arson narrative are doing so to refute climate change as a driver of the fires, with some conspiracy theorists going as far as to blame environmentalists for deliberately starting fires.
To be clear: Climate change is definitely a factor in the growing severity of Australia’s fire risks. And there is no arson emergency in Australia; the number of arrests for arson being cited is wrong. In fact, the Fox article in Hannity’s tweet debunks his headline:
    https://www.vox.com/2020/1/9/21058332/australia-fires-arson-lightning-explained

    1. Dr Paul Read, co-director of the National Centre for Research in Bushfire and Arson, said the great majority of bushfires are deliberately lit by “cunning, furtive and versatile criminals”.
“About 85 per cent are related to human activity, 13 per cent confirmed arson and 37 per cent suspected arson,” he said.

      https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-09-22/bushfire-arson-warning-ahead-of-school-holidays/11528192

Two of the most recent studies say there are between 52,000 and 54,000 bushfires in Australia every year.
Dr Paul Read, co-director of Australia’s National Centre for Research in Bushfire and Arson, puts the figure higher, at “62,000 and increasing”.
Of those, 13% are started deliberately, and 37% are suspicious. That means 31,000 Australian bushfires are either arson, or suspected arson, every year.
That figure does not include recklessness or accidents. So a bushfire caused by a barbecue, or a spark from a chainsaw, would be classed as “accidental”.
In short, up to 85 bushfires begin every day because someone leaves their house and decides to start one.

  12. I apologize if you’ve heard this before: A couple of days ago I paused to actually watch TWC because Cantore came on camera in front of a screen blazing with Australian bush fire. Like everyone else, I’m (was) a big fan. All of a sudden it appears he starts to descend into full climate change meltdown but then collects himself and proceeds as if nothing occurred. HTG, his body language, the first few words uttered in a strangled exclamation then abruptly cut off. It was the strangest live television behavior I’ve seen for some time. I really expected better from Cantore unlike the rest of that bunch but climate scripture is rampant among the media.
