Because It’s Friday

Assorted oddments for the weekend, including some notable snow clearance; what every window-seat passenger wants to see; an archive of vintage pulp magazines; an unobvious way to make popcorn; a suboptimal delivery service; and a time-saving measure that isn’t entirely successful.

All this and more.

  1. Trump spoke about the level of capital investment in the American steel industry, billions of $. What does not get talked about in Canada under Nafta 2.0 is how Canada will stay competitive? Under Trump the USA corporate tax structure is more than competitive with Canada and the EU. If you were an investor in North America where would you build your plant? I think that is obvious and it is going on in the USA right now. Of course that is not being reported by the MSM as it verifies the TRUMP MAGA platform.

Trump will be re-elected because Americans are working and they see investment at the street level. Sanders and Warren don’t live at street level and never have. If they cannot sell division they are doomed. Biden is incoherent.

    1. You pretend that the vote “count” in elections in the US are honest. Whatever gave you THAT delusion???

In the immortal words of their Messiahs – “It doesn’t matter who votes. It only matter who COUNTS the votes!”

      1. Mark Matis:
Commenters on SDA typically offer insightful, rational and reasoned observations on domestic and international issues, interspersed with humour and often not inconsiderable wit.
Your inane, unsupported assertions do not fit any of these categories. Perhaps you could find another blog to visit?

        1. Mark’s comment is in line with SDA past practice.
Unfortunately, he is more than likely correct in his summation.

    2. Tom Steyer, the California billionaire eco-Communist is intent on buying the Democrat nomination. This is the same guy who bankrolls the “Tar Sands” campaign. He’s spent millions already, but that’s only a fraction of what he will be spending. I expect he will outspend all other candidates combined.

    1. The airport greeters are funny! They have been waiting millions of years.

      For International Readers:

In the comments someone wrote that they recognized the Victoria British Columbia Airport. There is a museum in Drumheller Alberta dedicated to dinosaurs. The museum is known as the Royal Tyrrell Museum.

From Calgary Alberta it is about 1.5 hours’ drive. The Badlands there offer some interesting landscapes that make your trip worthwhile. See info.

      1. That Airport Greeting was pretty good…lol.!

For those that plan on coming out west, and in particular if Stampede is on the menu, take a day and head out to Drumheller… go see the Tyrell Museum. WELL worth the trip.!! Real easy to get to…Hwy 2 North and follow the signs.

        1. Make sure you take a side trip from Drumheller down Hwy 10 to the Hoodoos Trail, and the Atlas Coal Mine National Historic Site. Horsethief Canyon may still have helicopter tours, excellent.

      2. For those who are a bit more ambitious, there’s the Phil Currie museum a few minutes drive outside of Grande Prairie, which is about 5 hours drive from Edmonton. It also specializes in dinosaurs as there are formations north of town with all sorts of fossils and artifacts.

I’ve driven past it numerous times but I’ve never stopped there.

        1. I went to Drumheller as part of a school trip in Grade 12 and I think that beastie was on display somewhere. Back then, as I remember, there were 2 museums in town, both fairly low-key. (The Tyrrell was several years in the future.) I went to the smaller one and, before I left, I bought a dinosaur license, which gave me permission to hunt any of the critters that may have been roaming about in the area.

I think I may still have it somewhere at the house I inherited.
