American universities are morphing into Orwellian dystopias — tracking students’ movements, regulating faculty thought and actions to the totem of political correctness and molding young citizens to be comfortable with authoritarian state control.
The more self-important among my colleagues dream of students who never miss a single word of their wisdom and absorb it as gospel. By encouraging specific behavior — 100 percent attendance and extensive library time with email warnings for laziness and arbitrary adjustments to grades — faculty and administrators can use these tools to create Stepford Students.
We really need to start talking about Marxism in the same terms as flat earthers, then the logical question of why we are funding marxist “education” will arise. Universities will only change when it is a matter of survival. They have shut down the possibility of internal change through draconian gatekeeping that tolerates no dissent. They need to face an existential threat to the institutions.
One of the worst is Bias Response Teams. If a student says something that sounds bigoted to anther student, they may well be investigated and written up. The good news in the U.S. is that in a public institutions this is a violation of the student’s 1st amendment rights, and some universities are beginning to retract their claws.
There is some good news. Due to demographics, student enrollment is expected to fall over the next decade or so. This means there will be fierce competition for students. This is especially so in the humanities, where the value of such degrees has been called into question.
Those universities that have garnered a reputation for indoctrination rather than education are going to find it tough sledding. The marketplace might well cull some of these centers of Marxism.
Naw…what they’ll do is up the tuition for visa students…to make up the shortfall.
They dont give a rats (_i_) that they’re educating the next Gen of Chinese Military / Scientists…..it’s ALWAYS about the $$$ with universities. (had a friend who worked in Admissiions at the U of Calgaty – take it as VERBATIM.)
Time to defund the Lot.

Governments my have mixed feelings about doing anything about this nightmare. The prospect of a compliant slavery-prone populace is appealing, especially for liberal governments who love the idea of total control over the ‘people’.
I can’t think of any other reason why, in a free democratic capitalist country, this sort of horse shit would not be curtailed in short order.

Remove the government guarantee for student loans.
Remove the accreditation of government from offending institutions. If wearing Yale like a skin suit no longer gets you respect, …
Stop grants to “scientists”. Demand repayments with usurious interest.
When the money dries up, it ends. As long as the money is there, it continues.
These institutions seek out ‘International’ students with such urgency that it just might be a loss in enrolment is the problem. Teaching indoctrination doesn’t get students a job. Big debts and no jobs, such is their reward.

As an institution, the modern university and particularly the liberal arts faculties are beyond reform. Direct politically inspired reform would only come from conservatives and only a small percentage of them have the backbone to attempt such a mission where you would be up against 90% of the population including most “conservatives”. They will continue to indoctrinate and cost a fortune until bankrupt welfare states can no longer afford something that could so easily be replaced with online alternatives or other low cost innovative replacements for the medieval lecture theatre. The alternatives will have to come from the private or non-government sector. Initially, vouchers equivalent to the current student per capita taxpayer cost could be a catalyst to such reform but would need to be phased out to avoid reversion to the present.
Strange stuff eh, teaching people to be stupid and charging them hundreds of thousands to do it. YAHOO.

And now you can print your own “Credentials” online and these documents are almost as valuable as those issued by the institutions.
Obama demonstrated what university records are worth.
And there is a wave of pain coming for credentialed experts,the fallout from the mass hysteria and scientific malfeasance that is “Climate Change”.
Here we are seeing the wheels come off of a massive scam,created and promoted by our “Intellectual superiors”.
Institutional rot this systemic and widespread is going to embitter the actual taxpayers,who can see exactly what we are getting for our pains.

Surprising that persons as smart as yourselves, dear academics, had not worked this out for yourselves.
A good start would be to get rid of institutions like OISE (Ontario Institute for Studies in Education). That is where teachers are trained in Marxism and social justice indoctrination for use at primary and secondary schools. Humanities departments at universities have just become finishing schools.
