  1. “Who made this law?”

Stupid liberal voters that vote for stupid liberal politicians made that law.
Not that any liberal could ever make the connection between voting for idiots and getting idiotic laws imposed on them.

    “Cause and effec…..Oh look! A bunny!…”

    1. I am going to start a business of selling water offset credits from the homeless in California. You see it works like this. The homeless, who don’t shower, water lawns, fill swimming pools or flush toilets (they just crap in the street) can sell their unused water rations to the rest of the state for a mere $10.00 per gallon. The processing fee for my company will be $9.99 per gallon with the rest going to the homeless. Minus, of course, overhead cost such as rent, staff wages and utilities.

Hey it worked for Al Gore and his carbon offset scheme.

    1. If you could get about 10,000 people together, and you went to Newsom’s neighborhood everyday and did that, you are going to get some quick results.

If you don’t do that, or do it in your own neighborhood,…

  2. There is a recall mechanism in California. Few things would make me happier than to see smug Gavin Newsom hoisted on his own petard!

  3. sooooooo californicate is *yet again* facing severe water shortages?
I think this dates back to the time period of the film ‘Chinatown’.
p.s., it’s gonna get worse, a LOT worse.

    1. Quite right. Idiotic environmentalists in conjunction with virtue-signalling judges have destroyed California’s well planned and progressive water delivery system designed back in the ’50’s. By progressive I mean it was designed to anticipate future needs with planned reservoirs and to capture the rainfall in the Sierra Nevada for use in times of drought. Now Regressive Lefties are actually tearing down dams. Victor David Hanson has written extensively about it.

(Off Topic but related) Funny thing, when I went to search for VDH articles, for some unknown reason (Hello Facebook!) my search engine went to Yahoo and the first articles it shows are all negative about VDH. Left Wing Regressive crap. My preferred search engine is DuckDuckGo as unlike Yahoo, Google, Bing it isn’t designed to give politically correct propaganda.
Back in 2016 I googled two words ; “Hillary Lies”. Rather hilariously, Google responded with page after page of supposed lies about Hillary including Snopes fact-checks proving that any negative statement about Bill’s Wife was a lie. Had to go to something like page 35 to find an article claiming HRC lied about Benghazi.

  4. This isn’t actually news. The laws in question were signed by Jerry Brown in 2018.

It seems local water companies are charged with finding ways to limit water use by forcing per-head indoor water consumption below 55 gallons a day—and not, say, by forcing wealthy Democrats to stop watering lawns or filling swimming pools at their mansions so farmers can irrigate crops. (Most water usage in much if California is outdoors, not indoors.)

Fortunately for California homeowners, it is not especially difficult to stay below 55 gallons a day. Manufacturers of household fixtures and appliances have figured out that people don’t like throwing money away on wasted water, and have made their products more water-efficient without waiting for directives from Sacramento. My own water consumption amounts to more like 40 gallons on a typical day.

    1. For our own good.
Yeah, screw off. I am fine with using as much like after as needed. Charge me for my use but no, other than that.
Low flow washers, dishwashers, showers and toilets increase use by not working the first time.
All the “efficient” machines that break early and need repairs or get replaced because they suck. 5 year old dishwashers, dryers, washers, fridges that repeatedly break. If I wasn’t handy and replaced parts myself I would have purchased all new machines.

  5. Go mostly off grid for water, but I am sure good ideas would have to be illegal. Just buy water for cooking and drinking.

The stupidity of rationing water is that virtually all of it ends up back in the river. Mother nature doesn’t care. Even watering lawn means more runoff next rainstorm.

      1. No shit eh..??

Who knew….problem is that it don’t rain all that often on a yearly basis.

As for Kalifornica..? You all get exactly what you voted for…just like Eastern KANADA.

    1. Ironically, the current CEO of Apple, instead of holding the values of freedom of speech/inquiry that Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. Now advocates censorship, vowing allegiance to the Big Brother of 1984. Instead of seeking truth through rigorous research, tested by free and open debate. He’s adopted the Cult. Marxist doctrine of “hate” speech, of blasphemy laws.

Institutions, no matter the high ideals of their founder(s) have a tendency to intellectual/political corruption by the 3rd or so generation later. The light of Liberty illuminated the way to prosperity and peaceful co-existence, but maybe reduced to only a point of light in the distance.

What began as a company appealing to the creative, the most open to new ideas, can later be replaced by open source systems. Few corporations survive into a 3rd generation in a free enterprise economy. The others ossify in the face of challenges to innovate.

The dominant personality trait of the totalitarians is neurosis, which brings them into conflict with everyone who does not believe/share in their fearful existence. Thus everything is over-regulated. The walls they build are without gates, without doors, and eventually without even windows.

That 1984 Apple commercial bursting the icon of totalitarianism, Big Brother, would be labelled “hate speech” today. Find any public school syllabus including 1984 and the works of George Orwell ?

      1. You gotta’ sell Mac’s and Dumbphones in China to stay in business – what’cha gonna do? SMH…

    1. Yup. More made-up numbers. “40 to 50 gallons of water to do a load of washing.” Yeah, right. More like five or ten gallons, maybe 15 max in the old top-loaders, and maybe five or seven in a front-loader. Try running your shower into a five-gallon bucket and see how long it takes to fill it. A water-saver shower nozzle would take about two showers’ worth of time to fill that bucket.

  6. Apparently, my wife’s luxurious hot baths after a long day of teaching natty-headed basket cases in the inner city school district are going to be a thing of the past. Oh well … CA gleefully imports an extra 10M illegals from the 3rd world … and now WE … have to live like 3rd worlders.

I used to just HATE the increased traffic that has made the Bay Area a living hell. Now, that’s the least of my worries …

Can’t. Get. Out. Of. Here. Fast. Enough.

Before the supermajority Leftist Legislature devalues everyone’s property by half.

    1. We have been conversing with you for some time now, what are you waiting for? I am going to have to move next year and my choices are many, too many, but it maybe a radical move.

      1. Full retirement. Full benefits.

In multiple articles, I am reading that CA cannot afford their defined benefit pensions … and will be cutting them. So it is imperative that we boost my wife’s pension to its maximum … which is triggered in 2 MORE YEARS … ugggh. Staying employed longer than that delivers minimal increases. This is primarily due to the STRIKE she went on a year ago, which is phased in over several years … and … the formula used to calculate retirement.

As for my own SEP IRA retirement … ? Thank you, President Trump!!

Oh … and BTW … I just checked my water bill last month and we used 142gal./day. So we would have been fined $1,000. I was working on a tile project which took extra water to clean up multiple days of buckets and fresh water for my sponge work, and cleaning my wet tile saw daily. So what provision is made for remodel projects?

        1. Provision for remodel projects: Monitor your water usage, make sure any day you don’t use your full allowance you draw the unused portion and store in jerry cans until you have no more storage space.

We aren’t rationed here but I have 200 litres in jerry cans in the basement.

        2. Kenji, for the water I would suggest a very large cistern. I would be very concerned about the state being able to pay future pension obligations. Tooner a cistern would eliminate the need for jerry cans.

    2. “CA gleefully imports an extra 10M illegals from the 3rd world … and now WE … have to live like 3rd worlders.”

It is a feature not a bug, my friend.

    3. Kenji,
For most tubs, a hot bath does not use more water than a shower. It holds 35 to 50 gallons of water.
California limits shower head flow rates to 1.8 gallons per minute. Nationally it is 2.5 gallons per minute. Before the madness began, it was typically 5 gallons per minute.
The KTLA telecast makes it sound like a violation for any day you exceed the limit, rather than exceeding the limit per billing cycle, which for me is every two months (LA DWP). I don’t know that they can know on a daily basis, unless they install new water meters. So before they do that, they can only use the latter option.
I just checked my latest bill. Between the two of us, we use an average of 77 gallons per day, which is within the limits but not comfortably. Funny thing, it isn’t even half of the allotted first tier usage, meaning that we are really at the low end.
The most ironic thing about this law is we just had the wettest season in a long time. At the end of last winter, the reservoirs were as full as they dared make it. The Sierra snow packs were twice the normal amount, and the snow had very high water content. And we had unseasonal rain starting the past November. There is no drought. There is no lack of water. They do this out of sheer spite. I cannot see another reason for it. Not to mention they fill the Sacramento River to almost overflow, rather than diverting the water to fields in the San Jaoquin valley. This is to guarantee the survival of the snail darters, or whatever other small fish they worry about.

  7. Gee, don’t they have an ocean on their left they could just, ya know, tap and desalinate? Maybe they could use all that wind energy they love so much and that sunshine they brag about to power the plants. I wouldn’t bother with nuclear as its too reliable and clean.
As long as I keep getting cheap vegetables in the winter, I could care less if every asshole out there is beshitted 6 days out of 7.

    1. And remember, Californica is often the ‘leader’ for many of these types of changes. Just wait till your local elected ecofascists institute rationing, and not just with water. Don’t kid yourself, its coming.

  8. Yes, easily foreseeable.

If you accept the premise that government can regulate whom you hire, whom you serve in your business, what you drive, what you eat, …

Then they can tell you to start composting your own feces.

Council flats in London have a coin slot on the water heater. Same would work for toilets.

  9. Just as stupid, Vancouver, BC outlawed using natural gas for heating in new buildings. There must be some mind numbing chemical coming out of the ocean on the Left Coast.

    1. When I lived in Vancouver (1990’s), all the windows were single pane (apts and houses) and no AC in the downtown bldgs I worked in.

  10. When I say that I will take what others have taken from me I mean it. Don’t be standing my way when I do. Don’t be a PM or a Premier or any form of bureaucrat left wing idiot.

  11. The mushy mindless middle of the electorate votes for green theocracy and then complains when they get it. Mexifornia will eventually be a coastal gated Weimar republic and a rural Mad max.

  12. I’m betting they’ll all pick at least one of the standard Canadian responses:

    (a) Oh well, what can you do….
    (b) Somebody should do something about this…
    (c) Oh well, I guess it’s for the better…

  13. The stupid liberals in Southern California voted to protect Mountain Lions and Chickens the same state witha jerk of a liberal Govenor (Newsom)who replaced and even more Stupid Govenor(Moonbeam Brown)who wants to pour millions into a High Speed Railroad Yes we have idiots

  14. This Newsom guy is just as shallow and twice as glib as Justin. He is the epitome of the selfish Left. I can’t even stand to look at his face.

  15. When they recycle their own Urine for drinking we can congratulate California for their dedication….anything else is just fake Dancing with the environmental devils….
