  1. “I just want enlisted guys.” Because after 8 years of Barry Soetoro most of the brass is made up of Obama sycophants and before that they were George W. Bush sycophants. So that double filter has removed almost all the brass having integrity and good ideas.

    1. Those PC Generals are petrified that if the WAR in Afghanistan were to end … they’d be back to managing the military motorpool. With no more ribbons for their chests.

Well, since the Democraps like to keep comparing Trump to Nixon … Nixon got US OUT of the VietNam quagmire … and it seems Trump will get US OUT of the Afghanistan quagmire. The parallels are shockingly similar

      1. ” The parallels are shockingly similar”

There are parallels. However Nixon campaigned specifically on getting the U.S. out of Vietnam, “With Honor”, meaning somehow doing it without making it look like the U.S. cut and ran. Instead, Vietnam has gone down in History as “the War the U.S. lost”.
The U.S. did not achieve their war goals, nor did it clearly defeat the enemy to bring about an acceptable withdrawal.
The ramifications were very bad for the U.S. and it had a deleterious affect on America for decades.

I do think that President Trump can withdraw from Afghanistan, despite having made a widely reported public announcement that
the U.S. would *”WIN” in Afghanistan. I think that the American people are war weary and that President Trump’s wonderous economic recovery will make the act of withdrawal a largely forgivable policy despite it being another clear example of a broken promise.

*whatever “Win” was supposed to mean

        1. Neither WAR was “winnable” under the rules of engagement … both ON the field of battle, and in the Press. Honor – schmoner … there was NEVER going to be any “honor” in either conflict. When that happens … the only “honorable” thing to do is to get the hell OUT.

The VC were never going away, nor is the Taliban. I’m man-enough to never consider the necessity of pulling-out … emasculating.

          1. President Nixon promised to end the Vietnam War “with Honor” as his election campaign slogan.
As Commander in Chief, he could have determined his own ROE. He did not do so.
In actual fact President Nixon’s Operation Linebacker and Linebacker II, the bombing of North Vietnam with B52s, could have won the Vietnam War all by itself. With B52s he could have bombed Hanoi into rubble and then dropped so many mines into Haiphong Harbor that the Russian supply ships couldn’t have helped rebuild or continued to fuel the Communist war effort.

As to Honor, I do believe that President Nixon meant to honor the American killed and wounded by making the whole Vietnam War enterprise having been worth something for the blood and treasure it cost.

That said, I turn to Afghanistan. As long as Pakistan stands as host for Taliban training camps, Taliban hospitals, and a Taliban sanctuary; the war in Afghanistan could go on forever. Afghanistan is landlocked. In order to win, and winning Is Possible(it just takes the WILL to do so), Pakistan must be offered a Deal that they can’t Refuse. A “you stop supporting and hosting the Taliban or the U.S. will tell India that they have U.S. support to STOMP Pakistan the next time Pakistan hosts a terrorist attack against India” sort of Deal. I feel confident that Pakistan will see the wisdom of accepting such a YUGE Trump deal.

          2. The only thing making the wars unwinnable is the decision not to win them. Russia killed maybe 1 or 2 million in Afghanistan and didn’t win. Perhaps the magic number was 5 million. Wars are always winnable. In a limited war, only the strong power limits themselves, the weak do not. They want to win.

          3. Afghanistan is winnable if you force everyone to convert from islam and kill the rest who don’t.

          4. agreed kenji.
the old rationale used by countless national ‘leaders’ aka jeepers, we cant just CANT let the current body count mean nothing, wese gots to hang in there and watch it balloon to some 58 THOUSAND in a futile attempt to ‘win’ the ‘hearts and minds’ of the locals by . . by . . . . oh ferinstance burning their straw houses to the ground as ‘suspected’ commie sympathizers (and in the process hardening their resolve).
so many clusterfcuks in that conflict.
google ‘operation pheonix’ where suspected viet cong supporters in the south were selectively assassinated.
naturally when the communists got wind of the secret CIA program they promptly planted evidence on the ones they KNEW were loyal to the south.

and then washington and congress imposing all manner of ‘rules’ what was allowed ion the battlefield like it was governed by the geneva convention.
and letting that godd&^^#mnedable ho chi minh trail function for years and years cause it wuz in cambodeya.
ya, ya, thats it, wese cants goes dere and blow it to smithereens and all their eqpt cause
            it bese on da wrong side a da . . . . . border?
and all the lies about enemy casualties to the point they eventually added up to more than their entire number.
lies lies lies and mass naivete.

        2. Ooz, again you show ho uniformed you are the ground war in Nam was won, the aftermath politics was lost, the dims refused to finance the on going need for the n S Nam government, so it collapsed. this ism well documented. And one of my customers, when I had my own business, was from south Nam, and he told me as much. He also said he was disappointed because the Commies lost, he was a commy supporter, till they took over, and then he fled, realizing how wrong he had been

          1. “the ground war in Nam was won”

So you say. There has never been any evidence that it was, though. Just your fevered imagination.
I guess I missed the part where American troops staged their victory march through the streets of Hanoi.

    2. Sigh…. I look at what Trump is doing in the US and just have to sigh at what is happening in our frozen dominion. We seem to be perpetually led by the Barry Soetoro types in Canada. If we were attacked, a possibility that seems more likely every day, (We probably are already being attacked by anyone who wants to steal our technology and resources?) what, as a post-nation godless entity would we fight for?

What federal institution has not been ruined? Did any of you depend on the Post Office for a letter or delivery this xmas? If the feds can’t deliver the mail can they defend us against anything?

      1. Canadians keep voting for intellectual inferiors and socialism. There is no cure for their level of stupid. I have been screaming this for decades.

  2. Hey, more of that ‘non-communist’ central planning…

    Jeremiah 17:5-6 KJV
    (5)  Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.
    (6)  For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.

    1. “Hey, more of that ‘non-communist’ central planning…”

Did you know that the President of the United states is also the Commander in Chief of the U.S. Armed Forces?
Yeah, it’s true. This title dates back all the way to America’s first President, George Washington, who was Commander in Chief
      of the 1st Continental Army.
As for “central planning”, it’s called “governing”. Yup! It’s seems that there are so many low IQ wack-a-doos running around this planet, and have been for millennium, that people actually need governing despite large numbers of people not much liking government itself.

      1. Deuteronomy 4:7-8 KJV
        (7)  For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for?
        (8)  And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?

        1. Oh you mean command economy, not central planning? I thought we were talking about central planning.
Pray tell, OWG, which government in history has never had any central planning whatsoever. Go ahead, name one.

  3. Trump has always wanted to get out of Afghanistan.
He knows there is no reason to be there.

Let the Chinese and Russians deal with it.

    1. Precisely. It will always be a quagmire for any country.
I was just talking to a friend last night how Trump can relate to the regular Joe/Jill even though they know he doesn’t swim in their pond. It’s why he won.

    2. IDNF, the Russians will never go back there they lost more than enough men and material when they lost to the tribal warlords.

      1. I’m ok with the Chinese taking over Afghanistan. There are some rare earth mines they can enslave the locals to mine and they can export opium to their hearts content.
It’s not worth one American life not one American dollar to protect.
Lots of rare earth mines starting up in North America now.

  4. …and the Taliban ramped up attacks every time because they don’t want peace
peace means compromise…..they want it all

  5. I have news for you. This has been Donald Trump’s m.o. since forever. His father taught him how to mingle with and even work with the people who did the actual hands-on work.

He favours them over the managers.

He even worked as a hotel maid and a bell hop in one of his hotels: “Trump Cleans Bathrooms and Works as a Waiter and Bell Hop at his Hotel” youtube

  6. Trump is a person of the people. He isn’t above, he leads by getting under people and lifting them up, serving the servants.

The Afghanistan war was/is not a war. It has been a money pit and it cost many men and women their lives and robbed the inheritance of the American people. The rules of engagement were drawn up so there were never any “winning” strategies.

I am reading a Christmas present book right now, all about one of the “missions”. 17 members of Seal Team Six, the ones who killed Osama Bin Laden, along with 13 other Americans (30 in total) were ordered on a mission, 90 days after killing Osama, and were executed and blown out of the sky while in their transport helicopter. Who and why were they ordered to their deaths?

The book is “Call Sign Extortion 17” by Don Brown.

Call Sign Extortion 17: The Shoot-Down of SEAL Team Six https://www.amazon.ca/dp/1493007467/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_pa5bEbSY38WA5

This is exactly why Trump is shaking up the swamp. Murdered heroes and soldiers, ordered by commanders who hate America.

    Treason is thy name.

  7. No one outside the green movement has the stomach or desire for the level of imperialism required to civilize the Islamic wastelands. That would require a multi-generational garrisoning and control over all levels of governance and culture, essentially driving the Islam out of the wastelands. Getting feedback from noncoms makes sense as it avoids the politics of the Officer Corps. Afghanistan was a mistake from the beginning.

With the whole middle east strategy of sacrificing blood and treasure in attempting to make it more difficult to practice Jihad within the Islamic wastelands (siding with others and messing them up in the process) while doing less than nothing to discourage it in the west (including paying Muslims to colonize the west), is it any wonder that the “immigration crisis” is now a major issue in the west.

  8. Another reason trump terrifies the “Swamp”.
Power lies in surrounding the CEO with information blockers, this is Bureaucracy 101.
Control the information flow, control the man.
Trump has known this for years,in construction,if you want to know how the project is going,go talk to the tradesmen.
Which is also why,on corrupt construction projects, information needed to do the job, never makes its way to the worker.

  9. Good commanders always visit the front line troops and talk directly to them and listen to them. Good officers know they should do this themselves and expect and want their superiors to do it, too. There is such a thing as too much, but none is worse. If they are going to be listened to and not bullsh*tted, soldiers like senior commanders coming to the front to see for themselves.

  10. When I was a young corporal, during an O-group, our Captain kicked out all the Senior NCOs because he sensed some discontent and wanted to get to the bottom of it, with the guys on the ground.

I carried that idea with me into my career when I was commissioned. It’s great to know what the guys are thinking.

The best part is you just have to listen. You don’t have be concerned they’ll have a temper tantrum and run off to Schiff if you don’t do what they think. The corporals should never be allowed to run the place, but their input is nonetheless invaluable.

So good on Trump for taking that opportunity to find out what young soldiers think. They can provide excellent insights.

Another good move in a good month for Trump, slaying impeachment dragons, reducing Nancy and Dems to huff and puff.

    1. He used to do this on his construction projects as well. He found it informative to talk to the people actually doing the work. Trump is an interesting person, and he is WAY more intelligent than the media pundits and political establishment give him credit for.

  11. It is good to see that Trump gets down to business with those that know things first hand.

The generals and congress are mutual admiration society where generals push for more money and congress gets kickbacks from the military suppliers. Both sides are doing it. There are millions to by collected from lobbyists.
The length of a war and the dead are completely beside the point.
It’s too bad that in a free society, this is happening and no one is held to account.

The only danger here is that some of the comments are so bad that will make Trump to fall in love with hisself. Like Nicholson said in 1994 past 6 minutes here, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIopcyACbqE

Though never fear, military&congress&industrial complex murky swamp does not sleep, that’s why they come with nonsense every week to distract the attention from themselves.
If he loses the everyday worker, that maybe the end of him.
