Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Found him to be a cool guy.
Once Lesley Stahl came on in the morning, among the chatter it came about that she, he or they tried to figure something out and Imus said, paraphrasing, “you should know something about that”, not paraphrasing, “you are something like 100 years old”.
Heh.
There is a video roasting certain Clinton, Imus really nailed him, the whole place hushed up.
Don Imus in 1996 at Radio & TV Correspondents Dinner

This Clinton character then repaid with Imus getting fired for saying “hoes” about some junior basketball girls.
Imus not apologizing.

Those on-air antics might not be all that new.
Many years ago, I was an active shortwave listener. I was listening to an Australian station one night during the early 1970s and the announcers carried on in much the same way that Imus and his buddies did in that video.
I was startled to hear that, particularly since I thought it was a signal from Radio Australia. I sent in a reception report and didn’t hear anything for a long time. Eventually, I did get a confirmation and it turned out that I had been listening to an internal domestic Australian station. Propagation conditions were so good that its signal reached northern B. C.
The fact that it was a station internal to the country explained, at least to me, how the announcers got away with that kind of behaviour. Back then, I’m sure the Austrialian Broadcasting Corporation was considerably more refined and didn’t allow that sort of thing lest it tarnish the country’s image abroad.
The first 60 seconds of that is nearly incomprehensible yelling and name calling. Then I quit watching.
“Best of Imus”? I take it that we’re supposed to believe he was nothing more than a blowhard.
Anyway, Imus, rest in peace.
I’m with ya JDN. I knew of Imus but never listened to him. I hope this isn’t the “Best of…”
Listened too him every day for about 15 years before and after the Ho comment. He should have handled it better, it was a fucking joke. You apologize to the rabble, your dead in the water. In radio, Nobody was better than Imus. Sadly, his glory days were past. He differently didn’t deserve the pillaging the Al Sharpton crew piled on should have told them all to pound sand right up their ass. They did nothing for anyone. Imus did. His telethons raising money for oncology was always a good thing. No one will ever talk about it now.
I-Man was great, he pulled no punches he dished it out and he could take it. He rightly pilloried Clinton when no one else did. They hated him for it. He said what he said, daily.
When you listened to him, he was to the core exactly as you heard him. He pilloried the pompous jackasses of media and politics.
I always thought he was great, still do.
I named my financial investment club “NHH” after Imus got fired from his job. Only a bunch of dimwits would fire guys as funny as Imus and his crew. Luckily no one asked what the club initials stood for. Up 48% in the last 3 years BTW. Thank you Mr. Trump!
