  1. At least 6 feet I guess although that dates back to the Black Death of 1665 in London and is no longer followed. In New York the top of the coffin has to be at least 3 feet below ground and in Pennsylvania it only has to be 2 feet….

  2. Yes, but they have eliminated most of their income disparity. Other than the rulers and their friends and cronies, everyone has achieved “equality of condition” which is the goal of the institutional left. For them it’s “mission accomplished”. Socialism is the “suicidal” voting for what leads to the “murder” of communism. We spend huge fortunes on institutions that teach that this is the correct and inevitable path forward.

  3. Great opportunity for Canader here, what with our B.C. softwood lumber business in the dumps. We should send Venezuela thousands of spruce, pine, or fir coffins in which to bury dead Venezuelans, or even troublesome live ones for that matter.

Inside every dark cloud, there IS a silver lining! Cue “Always look on the bright side of life”.

  4. “Trudeau just can’t wait for Canada to be just like Venezuela.”

Along with at least 64 percent of the electorate.

  5. They still bury their dead in Venezuela?

I was sure by now that Venezuelan corpses would be regularly exported to China for use in cheap dumplings.

  6. L-Eliminating income disparity with economic chaos and the imposition of abject poverty=Marxist economics rule # 1.

#1.(b) Extra points awarded if rich oil producing resource areas are shuttered to protect Mother Gaia, thus creating unemployment & destitution.

Sacrificing human lives to placate pagan deities resurfaces. It predates the rise of the Judeo/Christianity that condemned such practices.
There is nothing new in the depths of depravity, except the wrapping paper.

  7. I’m guessing that the majority of the people pictured supported Chavez in at least a couple of elections. You can’t fix stupid.

  8. Almost the entire Houston Chronicles article linked above focuses on what is and has happened to the sick and diseased people.
Not the cause of the economic crash.

What caused the economic crash? The socialist gov’t caused this by spending much more than they had, and controlling currency exchange, and punishing people who were still able to “build something” until the foreign exchange choked them all…

The gov’t froze exchange rates more than a decade ago, then spent their “Bolivars” currency like there was no tomorrow on gov’t pet projects that have largely failed, and sold the oil exports to primarily China in exchange for China covering some bond losses, and knowing that bond payments would continue long after the short term relief from China.

The oil servicing companies from Houston (the “brains” behind the operation) have long since left once they were owed +$1 billion US for services rendered, oil production has fallen in the past decade from +3.4 million barrels per day, to less than 1. million per day. The gov’t and PDVSA had planned for +5 million barrels per day by now.

and they’ve already spent those earnings they never received.

and the currency has been debased, and has fallen in value by having 3 zeros dropped from the figures TWICE. So that’s a fall of more than 1,000,000 in a decade.

4.5 million people that were contributors to the economy have left.
The gov’t no longer sprays for malaria, instead, they rely on foreign NGO’s to buy the nets for sleeping under at night, and in 2018 spent less than $1./person on malaria, which is less than Ghana or the bullshit country of Haiti currently spends on this.
The hospitals have no medicines. You can walk to Cucuta Colombia for medicine if you know a family member with cash to buy it in Colombia.

Seniors from Venezuela with pensions of all types have found it impossible to cash these in neighboring countries, and are fed by family members, or soup kitchens…

and the likes of Bernie Sanders, has no idea why this is so:

  9. “I’m guessing that the majority of the people pictured supported Chavez…… You can’t fix stupid”
Not just stupidity; the sad truth is ‘misery loves company’ and ‘the people’ want misery because if nothing else everyone will share equally in the misery that socialism provides in unrelenting quantity.

    1. And don’t forget that socialism is all about equality. Of course, some are more equal than others.
