I, For One, Welcome Our New Self Driving Overlords

Fox News

A Tesla on autopilot rear-ended a Connecticut trooper’s vehicle early Saturday as the driver was checking on his dog in the back seat, state police said.

Police said they had responded to a disabled vehicle that was stopped in the middle of Interstate 95. While waiting for a tow, the self-driving Tesla came down the road.

After striking the trooper’s vehicle, the driver in the Tesla then rear-ended the disabled vehicle before stopping.

  1. I have no sympathy for anyone who got conned into buying a Tesla, or anyone who voted for anyone who ever supported electric car subsidies.

FYI, Tesla’s “autoplot”, is clearly coded by true believer Malthusian fanatic. You trust a zealot to drive your car, you get anti-human depopulate the planet results.

  2. Stupid is as stupid does. But in his favor, I have to admit there has been nothing but pro-Tesla propaganda published, and so this man may have missed those occasional and well suppressed accident reports of self driving car deaths.

  3. So as a safety feature,we are going to have to paint “Diverter” lines on our highways?
Sort of like those runway shutes for tractor trailers that experience brake failure, except we could use the high spots and sudden drop offs as they will remain functional longer, before requiring maintenance.
Remember 400 000 Teslas are out there,(A tesla number)so maybe 200 000 are functional and being used in autopilot.
    Definitely as safety issue.

  4. Perfect. As I have said the only self driving car I will ever get in will run on a rail or rails.

  5. These are the very people who will buy auto-drive cars – those who are easily distracted, who don’t pay attention and who are poor drivers.

  6. I’m bullish on automative AI but it’s clearly not close to being safe to use on public roads yet and it’s beyond me how this is allowed to continue.

    1. “Artificial Intelligence”; the religious belief that human’s can create something greater than themselves, a computer based life form. This is the kind of thing you see when people abandon rational and sane beliefs, like Christianity, and just start making stuff up.

God gave us free will, and a hole in our souls; how we fill that hole, is up to us. I have see belief in aliens, atheism, communism, AI, chemtrails, Jim Jones (too many cult leaders to count), and lots of other attempts to fill the hole with something other than God.

  7. Better get a good lawyer with that Tesla because liability will be expensive….Could take all your life-time resources
