Trump To Designate Mexican Drug Cartels As Terrorist Groups

BBC;

The US will legally designate Mexican drug cartels as terrorist groups, President Donald Trump says.

The move would enable a wider scope of US action. Mr Trump also said he had told Mexico the US was ready to “go in and clear out” the cartels.

In response Mexico’s foreign minister said his country would not allow any “violation of national sovereignty”.

Maybe Mexico should build a wall.

  1. A violation of national security?? You have to be kidding. The cartels have more firepower than the Mexican government!!

How can a nation sit back and not take that offer??

Easy to figure out! Mexico is the drug cartel!

  2. A couple well placed cruise missiles and drone strikes on the cartel bosses should shut things down pretty quick.

  3. That’s exactly what AMLO should have said.

I think he’s going to be a stealth Trump guy.

Hard to say this about an unreconstructed Socialist, but I think that he and Trump, working together, could do good things for the continent.

(ETA: And, yes, this essentially means “f**K Canada.” Sorry. Your election sucked.)

  4. The best the chattering classes have to say about this is, “The cartels don’t have a cause like REAL terrorists; all they want is money.”

Needless to say, the “cause” is usually an excuse to expropriate and murder anything resembling a bourgeois—and giving the leadership a healthy piece of the action.

But—I submit to you—cartel bosses are sophisticated businessmen, and if all they wanted was money, they probably had other ways to earn it at some point.

For them, as for our own globalist mafia, money is a means to an end. They want to be exempt from any human law, and to have power of life and death over their fellow men—amd the ability to destroy anybody who opposes them—for no better reason than to satisfy their own vanity.

Islamic or Marxist terrorists are no worse—and a cartel boss doesn’t have to pretend to care about the proletariat or the wretched of the earth.

  5. Designating the MexiDrug Cartels “terrorist groups” makes it a question of national security, whereas before it was merely viewed as a law enforcement issue.
Now, if the Mexican government doesn’t curb it’s Cartel corruption and collaboration the U.S. can treat Mexico as a rogue state.
This is a big deal. Economic sanctions, at least, are in the offing.

According to Kenji, Mexico is already building and paying for a wall. Of course Kenji’s a Californian so reality is… Oh Look! A squirrel.

  6. There is a wall for about a third of the way now. The Americans have been building for years. Even Obama completed some of it. Who knew?

I’ve been on the border a few times. It goes through some rugged terrain. When you get into the mountains of AZ the fence is not much more than a cattle fence.

  7. Looks like the democrats biggist voters and supporters with be designated as Terrorists too bad democrats now cry me a river democrats

  8. Does this mean Trump will clean out all the cartel pot farms scattered everywhere across CA? It’s dangerous to take a hike anywhere in the woods these days.

  9. A good step, shut off banking might help a bit but I doubt much of their currency is banked. Treating Mexico as a rogue really is the difference maker. Also shutting off or at least restricting the supply of firearms is a huge move.
A few key liquidations and maybe the government in Mexico will be free to act, as it is now however they are totally compromised.
I’m waiting for the movie to come out with (insert name of lead actor) kicking ass across the line, cleaning up Jalisco one body bag at a time.
