Hockey Night In Wokestan

Number Four;

The Hockey Hall of Famer tells the Toronto Sun that “enough is enough” of smearing and picking on his old coach.

“To throw him under the bus like this is wrong,” said the former Boston Bruins great.

“And for his partner to do it as well. Shame on him.”

Like Cherry, Orr is disappointed Coach’s Corner co-host Ron MacLean buckled to corporate pressures to issue an apology that included saying, “Don made comments that were hurtful and prejudiced.”

This came after MacLean offered a thumbs-up on air and said “That’s why we love you.”

Orr is of the view that Cherry’s awkward wording was taken out of context and turned against him to destroy him.

“I know what he was saying. We all know what he was saying. He was saying we should buy a poppy. All of us,” said the pride of Parry Sound, now a player representative.

    1. I had considered asking my family for a subscription to SN so I could watch the games of a certain team that had a good October run after a baker’s dozen of years where they were out of the playoffs by Remembrance Day. If SN backtracks and the team doesn’t slip into it’s old ways I could change my mind. I wonder if the Rebel would consider setting up Rebel Sports?

      1. Excellent idea — I already sent a comment to Ezra that he should hire Don and set up a “Hockey Night in Rebel Land” — and Menzoid could be the sidekick. It would get more viewers than the tv show.

        1. I was with you until you mentioned Menzies. He’s a clown and I avoid Rebel mostly because of him.

    2. When I was a kid, young enough to play hockey (i.e. before the age when we start getting squeezed out because we aren’t good enough,) I loved playing and was interested enough in NHL competition to have a favourite team and a favourite player. The latter was Bobby Orr. I am very glad I can still think well of him now.

  1. Well spoken Mr. Orr. It’s time for more of the hockey greats to come out of the pc jungle and support this man who has been such a supporter of their game.
While Don Cherry’s always been bold and a little gruff and willing to shoot from the hip before thinking, the charitable work he’s done more then makes up for one slip of the tongue and it wasn’t much of a slip, why shouldn’t every one in Canada wear a poppy to show respect for those who served and died giving us our freedom.

    1. EXACTLY Rob. KUDOS to Bobby Orr.
      Stand up be COUNTED..!!
      Show some BALLS…Some TOXIC Masculinity..even.

As to the “I Support Don Cherry Sign” Being confiscated at the Canucks game…? Illustrates PERFECTLY Why we in the WEST NEED to leave….and ensure that the Latte Sipping – Eco-Fascist – SoyBoy – Man Bunned wankers on the Left Coast are left behind.

May the Big one OBLITERATE you all.

    2. God forbidd we don’t have scrippted, mealymouth boring platitudes, run by lawyers, soyboys, LBGT, Imans, woke censors.
As if mass TV, mass advertising isn’t mind numbing boring enough. Processed enough. Audience targeted enough.

  2. Oooooofff! Fredo MacLean took one on the chin from the “Great One”.
    That’ll leave a mark.
Orr is from a different era but don’t expect MacLean to understand that.

  3. Another of Canada’s great Woke activists contributes to the discussion on twitter: “It’s because hockey is the most intense location where we form the white supremacy and misogyny on which Canada’s entire system is built and maintained.”
This woman, Nora Loreto, can’t begin to count all the benefits and privileges she has from living in this country but her perception is that Canada is entirely based on white supremacy and misogyny.

      1. Thanks for that link, Buddy. Always love reading some Rex Murphy….

“How fine it is, so very fine, to read of one of the gentleman heroes of the Canadian game, Bobby Orr, being so clear and straight and direct when talking of his one-time coach and forever-friend, Mr. Cherry. How fine to see a man standing up against the supercilious sneering and precious denunciations of an 85-year-old Canadian patriot, and declaring without qualification, that he — Mr. Cherry — is NOT a bigot, NOT a racist — the witchcraft accusations of our time — and to those who know him and have had the gift of his acquaintance, the actual opposite and antithesis of both of these scandalous libels.”

      2. Ya gotta LOVE Rex…

**As between The Social and Don Cherry, it’s chickadees sneering at an eagle**

Rex and Don. There’s a weekly half hour show I’d love to see. Let them talk about everything and watch heads explode as the ratings go UP.

  4. Keep on paying attention to the SJW’s, their level of idiocy will indeed destroy us and them. Cherry was and is right and it is time to take Canada back from the multi culti vibrant idiots who want to destroy us. Poppies are just one symptom of the rot that has infested Canada. Quebec has been an infestation since the British thought it would be good thing to allow one’s enemy to retain the ground they lost. The Brits are still doing it in their own country. America is allowing islam to continue their infestation since 911. As has been said many times, there is no cure for stupid.

  5. ‘White boys’ playing hockey?

“For a list of former Native players, please see our Past Legends page.

    1. Yeah, but George Armstrong and all those other Native hockey players still look kinda white in their home jerseys.
Any SJW with half a brain (the 95th percentile for SJW’s) can tell just by looking at any NHL hockey team’s roster that the league must be discriminating against black players that spent every childhood winter refining their hockey skills on the ice-covered ponds of Jamaica and Somalia.

      1. Agreed. I was surprised at a fair few of the names on that list. But then I remember – back in the day – watching lacrosse at the local arena and noticing that quite a few of the players did look rather native (the uniforms featured a native – I think the team was the “Redmen” – and some of the team looked like the uniform). It was just an observation; they and their families were part of the community and no distinction was made. But there are undoubtedly a fair few who came West from Quebec who brought with them serious Quebec Cree heritage. Out west, it didn’t matter.

    1. And don’t forget to contact the Toronto Blue Jays and tell them you’re dropping Spurtznutz from your Rogers or Bell package as well.

    2. Too late. I was planning to, but we already did drop it after the Liberals were re-elected and we realized that the tax burden was only going to get worse (so we needed to cut some expenses). Otherwise I would drop them now.

  6. This never gets old:

“In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, not to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better. When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is…in some small way to become evil oneself. One’s standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control. I think if you examine political correctness, it has the same effect and is intended to.”

  7. a copy of my email to the geniuses running the Rogers Media/Sportsnet enterprise…

“Don Cherry Firing from Sportsnet a subsidiary of Rogers Media

    Dear Joe Natale, Sportsnet,

I am shocked and surprised to learn of Don Cherry’s firing and the ensuing firestorm over his allegedly ‘racist’ comments.

Well, I took the time to view the clip:

Don Cherry’s Full Poppy Rant with Special Poppy Feature
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d44QlwurFbQ

There is nothing racist about the entire clip. The firing of Don Cherry is simply cultural political Marxism run amok.

Furthermore, Don Cherry said no “racist” thing. What he did say was “you people” who weren’t wearing poppies.

The people propagating the shaming of Don Cherry are full of crap.

Geez, I wear a poppy and my forebears were on the “other side”. In fact, my father was commandeered to fighting with the 12th SS Panzer Division as a 15 year old. Half his class mates never made it home, as the “leaders of the day” were asking young adolescents to accomplish what grown men could not.

Later when my father came to Canada circa 1958, a retired brigadier general who was doing job placements out of the Salvation Army at the time and opposite my father during WWII, found him his first job in Canada. Ironically, it was to blow up some more stuff; namely the navigation hazard called Ripple Rock just out of Campbell River.

Don Cherry has done yeoman’s service to Sportsnet and hockey in general; not to mention his lengthy commitment to remembering those who gave their all.

If the Sportsnet media organization had any sense they would offer Don Cherry an apology and ask him to come back.

WARMINGTON: Fired and betrayed, Don Cherry stands firm

On the other hand maybe Sportsnet has forgotten everything and remembered nothing…

    Yours sincerely,

Hans Rupprecht (descendent of your formerly worst enemies, the dreaded “HUNS”!)”

    ….

Delighted to hear Bobby Orr piped up; I was beginning to wonder if Don Cherry had any friends who hadn’t deserted him! Of course you know who your real friends are, (as opposed to ‘frenemies’) when you are so deep in the sh*t it makes your head spin, but they roll up their sleeves and help out anyway.

    Cheers

  8. Well now we will find out if English Canada stands up for Hockey… The NHL learned that the French would not allow Hockey in the Forum during the (Rocket) Richard Riots…… Don Cherry deserves the same support…Shut them Down….NHL cancel the Rights, or eat them

  9. As for Ron McLean, he did himself in nicely, he gets the weasel award. There can be no replacement for Coach’s Corner, the network cornered themselves . It will be interesting to see who fills that slot but be sure it will not have the audience Coach’s Corner had.

    1. The weasel award. Hmm, there’s a meme there to be made. Photoshop weasel faces on stills of Ron McLean from Hockey Night in Canada broadcasts and post them. Print them out and mail them in asking him to autograph them.

  10. The only people offended by Cherry were/are the people that sneer at our culture and our values like the Poppy. The media as usual spear headed the witch hunt and now they suddenly realize that the unwashed masses are disgusted by the corrupt media they attempt to deflect and blame anonymous sources.

  11. Can anyone name a sports writer or talker in Canada that took the side of Don Cherry because I haven’t heard one yet. Many years ago I heard it said that there’s no one quite so liberal than an Anglo speaking sports writer. Not sure who or why or the context but I’ll never forget it because in my listening experience it’s true. From the sports guy that comes on qr77 in Calgary to the hockey guys in Montreal that I used to listen to they ALL share the same opinion when sports and politics intersect. They all agree the kneeling in the NFL is ok. Agree with Colin Kaepernick. Agree when players refuse to go to the Trump Whitehouse but all were outraged when it was done during Obama’s time. And they all agree with the Don Cherry firing. Odd really. Now Bobby Orr gets involved and gives Grapes his 100% support and stress levels go up in the anti Cherry world because up till then #Hate Cherry was safe. Bruce Arthur from the TO Star though took it to another level. He was devastated and offended when Cherry went on Tucker’s show and made mention that Bobby was watching because it’s a favorite show of his. Why was Arthur outraged? Because Tucker is a “white supremacist” doncha know on the evil FOX channel therefore anyone that watches THAT guy…. well, you know what they think of you. So yes there’s now twitter heads calling Bobby Orr a “white supremacist”. That’s what it’s come to folks. Fascinating where the mind can go when HATE consumes you.

  12. I love Brent. I have the privilege to work in an office next door to him. He told me this story about his Don Cherry sign this morning, then I surf to SDA and there’s the link! He says Global was interested in his story but he says they’re irrelevant and no one watches them anymore.

There are freedom fighters out there. He’s one.
