Hockey Night In Wokestan

Just in case you thought there was nothing they could do to make you hate the Multi-Cult more.

That would be a “yes”: Sportsnet is fine with Communist China-controlled Huawei sponsoring Hockey Night in Canada, yet fires Don Cherry? What a disgrace.

    1. “you people”

Yeah … that’s “racist”. Guess what? I refer to “my people” all the time. For example: “my people, are not gang-banging, drug using and selling, murderers”. What do I mean by “my people”? Ask me and I will tell you. But it isn’t “racial”. Nope. It’s all about BEHAVIOR. You know … “the content of your character”. “My people” don’t BEHAVE like thugs. “My People” enthusiastically embrace our traditional culture and would be thrilled to buy a poppy … or a dozen poppies. “My people” are of any color, background, ethnic origin.

Who are the racists? Isn’t it OBVIOUS? but it isn’t Don Cherry … he’s one of “My people”

      1. Well then … I suppose I am one of your people as well.

I am amazed at how much Canadian media hates traditional Canada.

        Who are “those people?”

      2. And may I add to your argument, sir, that “our people” don’t shoot up innocent teenage girls on the streets of Toronto (from Jane Creba — Boxing Day, 2005 — to the victims of the Danforth murders a year ago last August) with already-illegal handguns.

I think I was number 7,823 who signed Ezra’s petition, about 7 hours ago. At last check, it’s about 40,000. Hopefully, it will get into the hundreds of thousands and more.

        Reinstate, now!

As it happens, the average deviation from the mean (actual result on election night) for all 9 opinion polls published on 19 and 20 October 2019 (the two days before the 21 October 2019 general election) was -2.76% for the Conservatives. Not one poll over-estimated Conservative support, which, technically, is not supposed to happen in inferential statistics (it should have been 4 or 5 on each side of the actual result). This clearly implies that there is hidden Conservative support that the “pollsters” couldn’t get at.

“Out of the closet and into the streets”, I say!

Kate’s story is linked @ http://www.instapundit.com (Glenn Reynolds).

      3. @ Kenji: “You people” That’s a very loaded phrase. Has been for a while and even more so now. If he hadn’t used it, he probably would have gotten off. Many years ago in my younger frisker days, I was at a strip club in my small NB town and was being chatted up by a couple of out of town black strippers. So I asked this innocent question being that we had very few blacks in my town “Where did you people come from, Montreal?”. Well I got ‘the look’ and a ‘ you people’?” disdainfully uttered back at me. I had no intention of being impolite, just poor phrasing on my part which I immediately recognized. Classic foot in mouth. It seems Don Cherry was born with his foot in his mouth. In saying all this, I still agree with Cherry’s stance.

    1. Many more than four. It is now set up where the Liberals will be in power forever. Conservatives cannot win because all the seats are in the East and they are all bought off or bamboozled Liberal voters. Many can’t even speak English, but they know who to vote for.

Canada is over …. The USA may be over as well. They are moving toward a civil war …. and it will spill over …

      Glad to be a septuagenarian … y’all.

  1. Silly old fart. Don shoulda been doing Coach’s Corner in blackface. That stuff is bulletproof.

    1. Of all the things he’s done and said over the years, *this* is the one that generates the outrage to the point that they fire him *on Remembrance Day* for speaking about wearing poppies. Only in effing Canada.

    2. Yeah, they powers that B have been looking for an excuse to rid Don without a lawsuit for years. Maybe he just gave them an obvious out so he can quietly retire.

  2. Can someone please provide a link to the full clip of that episode of Coach’s Corner? I’ve been googling it for 10 minutes and all I can find are reactions (Singh’s feelings were hurt). I’d like to listen for myself to what Don actually said. All I know is that he said “you people “ in reference to immigrants. Given that Don says “you people” to everyone with regard to everything, I’m a bit perplexed.

      1. People getting upset to the vitriol-spewing, spittle-spraying level (or the converse of “please don’t whip me, daddy”) about what he said there are deranged. I can’t even.

      2. Nope not offensive at all. Unless of course the truth is offensive to you or western culture is offensive to you or the sacrifice our veterans made fighting evil in the word is offensive to you. And if they are offensive to you then why are you here?

  3. I have been going for a walk around the University of Waterloo for the past 2 years.

During the last 2 weeks, I have seen less than 5% of other people (and 5% is generous) walking around wearing Poppies and from what Grapes said I would agree with him 100%.

There is no doubt that he is correct and it also proves that the forced multi-culti that has been thrust down the throats of Canadians is not working whatsoever.

    1. Frank

Had I been in Waterloo, I might have been one you saw without a poppy, but not for lack of wanting to wear one. I am probably certifiably incompetent, as I cannot get one of those things to stay in place. I buy one, pin it on, and soon find it gone.

      1. You should try sitting in a foxhole while under a artillery barrage or charging head long into a machine gun nest and I’ll bet buying a poppy and keeping it in place would seem quite easy.

      2. I use a safety pin to hold the one on my jacket and a pin base to hold the one on my pocketed work shirts. I used to have a Canadian Flag pin at the heart of the poppy, but after visiting a military museum I got a proper black poppy centre pin.

I still buy about 4 a year for another jacket, but it’s not hard to find ways to keep them on.

    2. Very true. I think the media could have handled this much better — possibly looking into why many immigrants do not wear poppies. I suspect they to not understand the tradition. Hopefully this blow up makes them more aware.

      1. ” possibly looking into why many immigrants do not wear poppies.”

I’ll answer that. They couldn’t give less of a shit if it was possible. They’re here for the free gibs.

  4. Well then, it’s all good now isn’t it? The SJW’s got their pound of flesh.
Way to stick by your pal Maclean, you POS. Who the F would want to be on the front lines with you, ya Bucktoothed coward? And on this day of all days. Good, a nice reminder of your abject cowardice.
    Too harsh?

    1. Not harsh enough. That f**ker and his puns and run-on sentences and allusions to nobody knows what can eat a sack of “You People’s” shit.

    2. McLean would be on local TV in Moosenee ONT. if it were not for his fortunate association with Don Cherry! What a cowardly swine he turned out to be,lets see how long he will be around if Cherry isn t there to make his 5 minute show interesting. Also where in Hell is the support of the Royal Canadian Legion for Don Cherry, its their banner that Don is promoting in a sense.

  5. Cancel Sportsnet and buy a Legion Membership. Show Sportsnet that the MultiCultists don’t watch their show anyway. Let them hold camel races if they want Mohamed’s support.

    1. The Legion piled on also. Not saying their members support what their communication guy says but….

**The Royal Canadian Legion statement: ‘Mr. Cherry’s personal opinion was hurtful, divisive and in no way condoned by the Legion. We do remain appreciative of his passionate support for Veterans.’**

  6. The parrallels between this and Cherrys AHL career ending are astounding: he should have retired years earlier, forced to end not on his terms, well past his prime, and with barely a whimper.

Good riddance. The timing couldnt be more perfect.

    1. Seems all of a sudden all the ignorant Eastern Soyboy – Man Bunned – Liberal Pervert Loving – Trough Feeding shitferbrains – Basement Dwelling Wanking GOOFS got something to say…never to be seen again on SDA.

Don Cherry was 1000% bang on the buck.
Disagree..? Then YOU Are the ROOT problem in this country & Too colossally STUPID to realize it.

      #WEXIT NOW please……!!

      1. Right because there is nobody reasonable that wants him gone right?

Ive voted conservative for the past 20 years.

        1. alla Ass, a stupid lefty who voted conservative for 20 years, no wonder you think a bit of paper would stop Chinese steel from going over the border. Alley girl, I am in the process of installing a water heater in the persons house , the one who worked in the metal industry all his life, and thinks you are an idiot when you think paper work will stop such nonsense.

          1. Did your friend work in the logistics side of things? Cross border stuff?

I bet he was little more than a grunt.

      2. That’s a lot of butthurt. You know people like me and Allan are going to have far more power than people like you in an independent Alberta right? We’ve kinda already won that battle.

        1. LOL, I just realized, when Alberta separates you Albertans get to keep UnMe. You’re FUBAR.

    1. Ron MacLean didn’t flinch when Don said what he said. In fact he nodded and gave a thumbs up. Then in his apology he lied saying he didn’t really understand what Don said and would of corrected him if he did. Ron MacLean rode on Don’s coattails for 30 years then he stabbed him in the back. He’s a POS.

      1. Right. And I recall that MacLean himself was fired a few years back (for what I can’t remember, but I seem to recall it was something politically incorrect) and was only re-hired after massive public protest. He didn’t seem to be a necessary part of that show, but the injustice got people mad.

        1. Ron the turncoat would benefit having George the what’s his name Greek guy as a sidekick.
Or his Sunday sidekick chicky poo

          1. Yeah, it will be interesting to see who they get to replace Don Cherry. Cherry was spot on, too many who come here DO NOT appreciate the sacrifice of our soldiers to make the country they came to.

          1. Hodge was fired for the pen tossing incident. He dared question CBC brass over not going to another playoff game that went into overtime. TSN immediately scooped him up.

        2. This is not in defense of MacLean.
He left the place and was hanging around Calgary, basically he went on strike for more money.
It was reported that Cherry was getting $600K and MacLean was only getting $200K.
The numbers may not be exact though that was reported in Calgary Herald.
          Just a note.

          1. Could be. Lev. I seem to recall now that they didn’t think he contributed anything, so sayonara.

  7. A Toronto Star reporter was just speaking on CP24, where he explained that Don Cherry played for white people in small towns in Canada, and he was prejudiced to diverse cities. What an insult. I was at the Remembrance Day service in my small Ontario town and all those names on the cenotaph were young men who fought and died for our freedoms. Those freedoms included freedom of thought and opinions. What did my two uncles die for in World War Two, what did my father fight for in the war, and why did I spend most of my life as an officer in the army for. Meanwhile CTV had Tequila Sheila Copps on this Remembrance Day, ranting that Jason Kenney and Scheer are homophobic and will ban abortions. And of course she explained that Trudeau is wonderful. I guess telling people to wear poppies is a lot worse that Groper wearing blackface. The CBC did have wonderful pictures of Blackie mingling with the crowds, laughing and posing for selfies at the Ottawa service. Perhaps he was telling funny jokes about how his father refused to serve during World War Two.

  8. Ask these nuts to explain what was actually racist in what he said.
Which race was he talking about?
Is it racist to ask why immigrants don’t respect our culture and traditions?
Was Don being racist against English and Australian and Czechoslovakian etc immigrants that may not wear a poppy?
    What race was he insulting?

They can never explain why something is racist.
But they sure can parrot the party line and express their moral superiority by showcasing their outrage.

The freaks on the Green Zone were appalled at what he said but they never quite explained why.

    1. Don could come out as gay and vow to fight the NRA, that seems to be the ‘go to’ remedy these days…

  9. When the sheep in canada are lamenting their undoing you will hear me…laughing.

    Drip, drip, drip. 😉

  10. I don’t like Don Cherry but I will say this. My son went to a Leafs game as a kid and Don Cherry and Ron McLean hung around after the game to say hello to all the kids who were hanging around the Leafs dressing room for autographs. The only Leaf to show was Grant Fuhr (he was probably in the dog house).

I lived in Toronto part time from 2010 – 2016. We were there a few times over Remembrance Day. Very few people wore poppies (which was Cherry’s point). There is also a strong ethnic mix in the downtown core – hard not to recognize. So technically Cherry had a point. Hi ethnic mix, low poppy-wearing. FWIW I believe the issue is more city versus country than ethnic versus white. Very few white people wore poppies in downtown Toronto when I lived there.

Obviously SportsNet is more interested in their audience than the truth. It could have been a teaching moment for all. Walk downtown near the Air Canada Centre and pan the camera on people walking by. Lots of poppies or no poppies. As I had noticed, not many poppies, unless you were in the business district.

I don’t watch sports and I haven’t seen Cherry on TV for maybe 20 years. But he had a point.

  11. Trying to figure out how to get TSN without Sportsnet on Bell in Toronto. I assume it is impossible. I may have to cancel both.

    1. Was on hold with our Sat provider for 115 min. Couldn’t get rid of Sportsnet without losing TSN as well. Did it anyway.

      1. I figured it out for Bell fibe. Just uncheck sportsnet from the Sports package. Only save $3. It might do TSN online and dump the rest of the cable.

  12. Why the outrage so that Cherry had to be fired? Canadians have been trained to be ultrasensitive about race. In fact, it turns into a witch hunt whenever a person who is deemed insufficiently woke opens their mouth on a topic that could be even slightly construed to be about race. Don did not mention race. It was about the recent immigrants and whether they have any gratitude for what the sacrifice of Canada’s war dead preserves for us.
Go to a Remembrance Day service. Canada has changed so much but the service I went to day looked like it would have 50 years ago (if I choose the pre PET era). Meanwhile, Costco down the road looks like the United Nations. Virtue signallers like John Tory will opportunistically rush to open his fatuous gob to spout off that people of all backgrounds demonstrate their love for Canada on Remembrance Day. Truth is felt as hate and lies comfort us in our progressive simplemindedness.

    1. You bring up a good point: When did racism become the ultimate crime?
Sure, it’s bad, but is it the worst thing in the world?
Worse than murder, slavery, rape, child abuse, etc etc?

And if you want to produce a ‘cow looking at a train’ expression on a liberal’s face just ask them to explain why something is racist. They haven’t a clue, they just parrot out their NPC lines.

  13. I walked away from the NHL about a decade ago because of the annual rules change and inconsistent application of the rules. I haven’t missed it, I get my annual fix from junior hockey, and the best show of all is coming up (starting Boxing Day).

Another reason to not follow Sportsnet. I had been keeping them for the MLS coverage (which they screw up royally by using it to train hockey cameramen). That’s not a strong enough reason anymore.

  14. I told SN to shove their Paid NHL Streaming Online service. $ 188.95/Yearly.
It’s FREE on Kodi. Every game – Every Team.

Bart Yabsley, SN & CBC can kiss my (_i_).

  15. John Groves, who I follow religiously had it absolutely right – We (Canadians and Americans) are being bullied by a very, very small minority of people who’ve got it going their way for far too long.
    Way too long.

  16. So you boomercons have finally noticed that immigrants hate Canada’s traditions and old stock Canadians. You boomercons voted for this crap and turned a blind eye when traitors Harper and Kenney kept pushing the TFW program in the name of “muh free markets” and called people of my generation lazy when we are unemployed because the job market is flooded with these “new Canadians”.

Well, the “muh free market” has spoken and now Don Cherry, has lost his job. I’m not the kind of guy to say I told you so, but I told you so.

      1. The problem and cultural rot started many years ago, well before I was born.

The irony here is that the war that the “Greatest Generation” fought for, it were hoodwinked into, was one done in the name of multiculturalism. I think the boomercons mean well, but they cling to the values they were raised on (freedom, diversity) but as a result, they lack the dialectical tools to really argue against the Satanic leftists. The boomercon only argues from the vantage point of “liberals are the real racists”. We saw that happen with Trudeau and the blackface scandal, for example.

You have a point—the political choices that we are given are a shitty mess.

Liberals—argue for more immigration in the name of human rights (so they can get more votes)

Conservatives—argue for more immigration in the name of free markets (to get the cheap labour their donors want).

It’s heads they win, tails they lose.

Next time boomercons, when you hear of your grandchildren or nephews struggling to find work In a shitty job market, maybe you shouldn’t tell them it’s their fault instead of talking about pulling themselves by their bootstraps. Acknowledge the fact that the job market that they inherited is not nearly as good as they one the boomers had growing up.

I find a lot of boomercons to be blue pilled schmucks who cling to their beliefs. They need to become red pilled.

        1. Gen McStupid con, if a young person wants to work they can, maybe not as CEO or president to start. But at some thing . There are a few in my circle who create their own work space ,and make a living 2 even bought new cars doing so. An other one did work and paid for the materials, just to teach himself how to do, and now works steady because he has skills to offer, BECAUSE he taught himself, at his own expense, to do these skills, Now go FO with your BS, and quit making excesses for the lazy and stupid.

          1. Are you a TFW advocate?

You sound like one with your “muh bootstraps” talk, and all that.

The irony here is that your kind imports third worlders who then vote for the liberals that you claim you despise.

You get the government that you deserve.

    1. I had the pleasure of having your kind “working” for me. Yeah, I’m a BOOMER. Your kind don’t know how to spell “work”, too busy with your entitlements to “work”. Then you want to be paid. Take a long, hard suck.

        1. Never had the pleasure of TFW’s, all thirty years I was in business. All my hires were me, myself, and not guys like you, or TFW’s. No employees. Owner/Operator. No overhead or trouble with employees. I ran my own corp, spud. I wore all the hats, too. CEO, employee, accountant. Try it sometime. After a while you’ll see what I mean. Guarantee it’s more than 9 to 5, more like 24/7/365.

          1. I run my own business too, but I do the books for other owners who haven’t the time nor the energy to do the accounting properly. This way, there’s a second set of eyes checking out what they’ve done, as well as someone who will not hesitate keep them on the straight and narrow while minimizing taxes. No way am I giving CRA any low-hanging fruit to pluck.

        2. look you god damn fool. I am an immigrant, and yes I’v hired new immigrants, as they do actually work, were as idiots like you need a kick in the nuts to get you started. I’v had one to many jerkoffs like you fold up when they needed to actually work, my young friend not so much

  17. On behalf of all Turdholelanders, Blackface enablers, crotch stuffing bigots, Indians that need a place to store their canoes, Queerbekers who are better than other Canadians and everyone else Constitutionally divided by tribe, ethnicity, french language etc.etc.etc. and who regularly experiences things differently I say good riddance to a Canadian icon… No one has a right to express their opinion on immigrants and the Poppy, not in the cult of Turdholeland they don’t… because expressing differing opinion on immigrants is “racist”, even when its not, and pointing out the truth is like you know, a “hate crime” and should NOT be tolerated… truth is bad… I sure hope our glorious blackfaced racist PM can further heal the wounds of this authoritarian ethnic nationalist socialist sunny ways country and save us from old white guys speaking the truth… Turdholeland and the Peoples Republic of China thank you for your co-operation.

  18. I remember the Montreal Riots……Sportsnet is not about Sports & they all need to GO…Maybe their Fan Base will enjoy Marbles more than HNC….

  19. The Wiki entry for “SportsNet” mention that Rogers paid $5.2-billion for the rights to HNIC, a12-year contract lasting until 2026. Some business discussion on BNN-Bloomberg news has said that Rogers is not doing all that well, missing profit estimates, a declining stock price — and all of this was before the Don Cherry firing. Many people (including me) think Rogers overpaid for HNIC, and since many people will stop watching the games, Rogers could start losing money on HNIC big time. Lots of comments here and elsewhere say people will be boycotting SportsNet. I hope so.

Btw, firing Don Cherry on Remembrance Day? After all he has done for veterans? Extraordinary.

  20. Ron McLean’s apology included Trudeau’s phrase”diversity is our strength” , what has that got to do with it?
    Diversity can be very divisive.
Don Cherry has been fired, don’t expect him to apologize.

    1. Mealy mouth McLean uttered my favourite woke nonsense mantra. Back when the phrase first entered the lexicon I used to ask people how diversity improved the country other than offering better snacks at the food fair. It was obvious even then that some of the most successful nations were the least diverse, e.g. Japan and Sweden (before the latter went diverse.) Of course I never got a coherent answer, just disapproving stares and grumbling. But at least back then you could ask the question without being publically lynched.

  21. How long will MacLean last now? You’ve got to think he’s in for some serious flak. He’s come out of this looking like a back stabbing weasel.

    Bring back georgie girl

    1. Ron MacLean always looked like a weasel. He was a beta male standing next to a flamboyantly dressed alpha male. Maybe he is getting revenge for something. Wants out of Don’s shadow. However … The fan base is gone.

      1. Calling Ron McLean a beta male, is an insult to beta males. He is a cowardly traitor. He would be nothing without Don Cherry, and he throws the man under the bus.

You would think that he would have saved enough money to be able to tell his employer “Piss off. If Don has to go, then I go.”

  22. Haven’t read the above comments yet, but just watched Don Martin and that Sikh CAF clown spout off on Cherry, on CTV. I’m an observant guy, have been all my life. Not sure where Sajan was city wise. The folks roaming about, oriental, white, tourists?…don’t care in the back ground, aren’t wearing poppies. Not a one.
I don’t care if they’re tourists or fresh off the boat, give ’em a poppy and tell them to wear it and the reason to wear it out of respect. Send the bill to all those anti Canadian Quebecers in the BLOC and CAQ. Another to SFB Trudork. He can pay via his “Foundation”.
There’s gonna be s&#@ to pay over this. Mark my words.

    1. You can thank Jason Kenney who imported the TFWs who then become liberal voters for this mess.

Keep talking about “muh bootstraps” as the foreign hordes overrun you.

Maybe by then, you will begin to understand.

PS: don’t blame me—I voted for Bernier.

  23. Congrats, woketards. I will never watch hockey or buy an NHL ticket again until Don Cherry is rehired. Veteran here; do not doubt my resolve. And all of you cancel assholes can go fuck yourselves.

    1. I was planning on canceling my SportsNet subscription. Does that make me a cancel asshole? I just want to know in case I need to take further action.

  24. Just checked the SportsNet web page, and the comments section accompanying the announcement has been suspended. I’ll check Rogers stock price tomorrow, but one would think it will fall sharply.

  25. “…divisive remarks that do not represent our values or what we stand for.”

And what, pray, are those values? What does Sportsnet stand for?

    Islam?

    Chinese supremacy?

Or good old-fashioned Bay Street globalism, which values nothing but money?

What’s the joke here? Sportsnet want to make hockey fans out of Pakistanis and Chinamen and Don made them look like fools by suggesting that Pakis and Chinamen might not care that whitey went to war so THEY could enjoy a comfortable middle-class Western lifestyle even whitey (never mind their own tribesmen back home) could only dream of, while whitey himself came back crippled, insane, or both, and is reduced to begging in the country he was fool enough to fight for—if he came back at all?

Look. The job of the media has always been to sell people garbage no sane person ought to want—be it trinkets made in China or the latest mad social engineering scheme dreamt up by the globalists.

Tell the truth? Honestly, the miracle is that Don has lasted forty years in broadcasting telling it like it is, in his inimitable style. Jesus was crucified after three.

Maybe it’s just as well. Don is 85. He has nothing left to prove and has earned his retirement.

Sportsnet, for their part, have earned the right to be the next example of the adage of 21st century capitalism: “Get Woke, Go Broke.”

Let’s see which one lives to spit on the grave of the other. No prizes for guessing which one my money’s on.

  26. Sucks to be you, CanaDUH.

Don’t want to suck anymore? Grow some testicles and send President Trump a message that you are ready to secede and join the Union.

    1. I have a much better suggestion. America sends its liberal left to Canada. Canada sends conservatives to America. Canada becomes Venezuela North that much quicker. America gets better. Sounds like a win/win to me.

  27. I was in Toronto for the weekend. I could count the poppies in the downtown and at the airport on one hand. Diversity is not our strength–assimilation is. Ron Maclean will soon find himself refereeing minor hockey games again–he really had nothing until Coaches Corner and will have nothing going forward. He will end up with little I think. He has made millions with Cherry and he should have stood by Don and told Sportsnet to suck wind.

  28. What? You all think the media is your friend? Have you not yet learned? They hate you. And that’s why they hated Cherry because he was in their way of hating you. I killed off cable 10 years ago. They can all KMA. Commie Huawei traitorous bastids.

  29. I quit watching HNIC years back. No CBC on my TV. Therefore, Sportsnet being affiliated with CBC does not appear either.

I do commend Cherry for his comments and his support of everything Canadian. He is one of a kind. Always has been. Not many Don Cherrys left in this country, unfortunately. Only snowflakes.
That’s probably why there is no hitting in today’s hockey. Don’t miss it much either.

  30. It’s bs that Don Cherry gets canned for the free speech our veterans fought and died for, and on Remembrance Day, what absolute horseshit from those assholes at Rogers, and Ron McLean is a POS. Pleeease TSN buy the rest of the hockey contract from sports shitnet, if enough people cancel their subscription maybe get a helluva deal

  31. SportsNet does not own Hockey… They are the Piss-ants that pretend to understand the sport… The On-Air over the Hill Players have nothing but clap-trap… Don Cherry is Hockey (Boston Bruins) and fans can like or Hate his Opinions….He has done more for Canada than most…

SportsNET OWNS Nothing … GET RID of those Contract bastards, or Break their heads

  32. It seems the real story was overlooked by the Media. Don Cherry’s comments inadvertently revealed the poor state of Canadian Health Care. Injured feelings flooded the Emerge and now we know how lacking we are in Long Term Cares facilities. A Canadian Tragedy

  33. Cherry is a spokesman for the Kidney Can Foundation. Wonder if all the woke radio stations that run his ads will now take them down?

I’m betting the wokesters at CHQR 770 Calgary have already spiked the ad. Christ they fired Rutherford (a 25 year employee) 2 weeks before he was scheduled to retire. Watch Chorus radio and see how they handle this. They have the same jelly fish spine Rogers (SN) has. Cowards.

      1. I suspect he would have received a settlement that he would otherwise not have been entitled to. They may have done him a solid.

        1. Rutherford was fired for standing up to the bosses.
There was a major flood in Calgary and Shaw building got flooded so it could not broadcast from the building.
Rutherford was really angry that they stopped broadcasting for a number of days, being a news station. They could put up a shack on any street somewhere to broadcast.
The idiot bosses on a news station did not want to do news.
They fired him for telling his beef in public on the first day back.
Today, if Smith did not make money for them they could shut down. Got to give her credit for being strong with her characterization and destruction of the so called “liberal” agenda. She does have some soft spots for the “social justice” nonsense.
The on air staff is going from bad to worse.
          Just a note.

  34. BTW, Ron MacLean? You are dead to me. Strike the ‘Mac’ from your name, you shiftless backstabbing weasel, you’ve no more right to a highlander’s patronymic than a dog turd. Not kidding; I live 3 km from an NHL franchise and will open a vein before I ever darken their woketard doorstep again. War to the knife, you postmodern neomarxist fascists.

  35. Just like Trump, it is clear that his slacks are inadequately creased.

And so the mob howls: “Destroy him!”

  36. The neo-Marxists are winning on Every front because far too many Canadians are just like Ron MacLean, cowards and censors, confiscators and traitors.
Nutless manginas, fat urban quims, liars and cheats and phoneys and weaklings grow in numbers like a plague.

  37. Corporations are bastions of moral cowardice. When you work for one this visibly in the public eye you should know that by editorializing, even when you are correct as Cherry was, the spin-driven cowards will fold at the first sign of controversy and excise you like a boil. Media is not “media” per se but that part of the institutional left that masquerades as such. Anyone gratuitously voicing conservative values in their cultural domain is seen as the enemy.

Ezra has a petition going but the Rebel doesn’t seem to carry that much weight. I would boycott them but I already have as I don’t watch it.

    1. My point exactly.

Toronto’s Pakistani and Chinese communities have disposable income to spend on whatever advertisers are trying to sell. Canadian veterans who came home from Afghanistan crippled or insane are lucky if they aren’t destitute, homeless and begging on street corners.

No prizes whose side corporate Canada will take, every time.

  38. Pretty hard to take Remembrance Day seriously, when this kind of crap is going down, when a draft dodgers spoilt brat is our Prime Minister and the entire official ceremony consists of parasites wrapping themselves in the Flag and stolen valour of those who went before.
I need a new country, one were we can run the woke over the border,in their magnificent new clothing of Tar and Feathers.
Can-Ahh-Duh is proof madness, especially idiotic madness, is contagious.
As for Hockey..Meh.I confess to have not been interested since some strike 10 or 20 years ago.

  39. Judging by my failbook feed it looks like the elites are way out of step with Canadian opinion again. Nevertheless message received loud and clear. It’s ok to fire people you disagree with. All liberals better keep their head down.

  40. New SportsNet features. man bun tying, 5 K sashay, 6 loads of laundry, cooking for the women and filing for bankruptcy

  41. Cherry getting canned makes me sooooo happy. I always thought that he should’ve been fired years ago, but then the fact that he finally got the boot on Remembrance Day is just delicious and perfect.

He of course has every right to continue to believe in and espouse whatever fossilized, small-minded, and lily-livered ideas he wants. Happily, he no longer has HNIC as a national media platform upon which to do so. Perhaps Rebel Media has an opening. If not, there’s always guest-blogging on SDA.

    1. Did you actually hear what he said? Or, did you get it from your favourite loser at CBC? Don said “people”; you left-tards changed it to immigrants. He was referencing everyone that was enjoying freedom but couldn’t give a damn about it or being disrespectful to those who gave their all to secure it.
His comments reminded me to get off my ass and get a poppy.
You and your ilk will turn this country into the NAZI Germany we were fighting against.
Don’t pull your groin during goose-step practise.

      1. “You and your ilk will turn this country into the NAZI Germany we were fighting against.”

Too late. We are almost there.

      2. “Did you actually hear what he said? Or, did you get it from your favourite loser at CBC? Don said “people”…”

I did hear, and no, he didn’t say “people”, he said “YOU people…” We all know that’s code for ‘not my people’, i.e., ‘them’ vs ‘us’.

He also said, “They COME here, whatever it is…”—not ‘born’, or ‘from’, or ‘who live’ here, not ‘those of you’ or ‘those of us’. Just specifically those who “come here”, to Canada, from somewhere else.

“…You love OUR way of life, you love OUR milk and honey, the least you could do…yadda yadda yadda.” “Our” this, “our” that — all just more of the same old dog-whistling.

Contrasting Mississauga (57% visible minorities) and Toronto (52% visible minorities) with “small cities” — same thing. Wink, wink, right?

So no, in fact not “EVERYONE that [sic] was enjoying freedom but couldn’t give a damn about it…” He had in mind a group rather more specific than that.

“His comments reminded me to get off my ass and get a poppy.“

Cherry’s segment aired Saturday night, which would mean you only bothered to pick up a poppy on Sunday, one day before Remembrance Day. Had he not spouted off, one can only surmise that you wouldn’t have been prompted at all to “get off your ass” at all. So, I guess his contract-terminating rant wasn’t all for nought.

    2. What small minded ideas did Don Cherry espouse?
That Canadians should be grateful to those who gave their lives to fight for freedom and democracy?
Perhaps it is your mind that is small.

      1. “What small minded ideas did Don Cherry espouse?”

That there’s such a thing as “you people”.

        1. “…One of those people in Canada”… quit crying you sniveling turd… you clearly don’t watch Don Cherry and its also clear you don’t understand how he talks… Don uses the term “you people” all the time… if you watched or listened to Dons show you’d know that… you’re just projecting your own racist bigoted nature onto someone else… go eff yourself you racist turd and quit pretending your “offended”.

        2. Well, I suppose there is that. I mean, it’s not like he called them hitler or anything, smashed their windows, or hit them over the head with a crowbar, or painted his face black, or any of a multitude of evil things that the left considers normal business these days.

But, you people, we should be lynching him as well, along with family and friends. Nuke them from orbit, it’s the only way to be sure.

  42. I was watching the episode Saturday. As soon as he said what he said I knew it would be trouble for him. Perhaps he did it on purpose to go out in a blaze of glory. I hope so.

I’ll be sure to stop drinking Bud Light and all other A-B products as they’ve piled on. That will be my little part to show my support for Don. Scotiabank I don’t deal with nor Rogers.

I’ll still watch hockey because I like to do so, but I can see Rogers taking a hit on this via cell phones & cable. They may lose the hockey deal in a few years.
