        Capitalism in the cause of altruism is the road to socialism. It becomes the funding mechanism for the greater good of the collective (we are becoming the PRC). The culture is altruistic, stemming largely from Christianity which has now been widely replaced with environmental pantheism. In this culture the “welfare state” is the standard of value so it is logical to believe that much more of it is for the good. Individual acts of altruism involve free will and can be seen as a virtue. State altruism (socialism) involves coercion and therefore anything virtuous about it is nullified by the underlying pointed gun, theft, and enforcement by the state. You ignore that premise and socialism is seen as virtuous. Hence the Institutional left and their self righteous moral high ground. Practical arguments are all that remains but if you’ve lost the moral argument, good luck appealing to the young.
