Lest We Forget

Further to Kate’s earlier post, I wanted to share two photos captured on my camera on June 6, 2019 at Juno Beach, Normandy, France.

The real culprits behind the lack of poppy wearing are the ungrateful zealots on the Far Left. They’ve spun a narrative that wearing a poppy is pro-war and, as these photos show, would force them to admit that white men actually have made positive contributions in the world. That’s a leap they’re unwilling to make.

  1. RD should be phased out. As more and more time passes and there’s less and less connection to WW2, keeping it alive is just reanimating a corpse. It is best to let go.

    1. That’s what all leftists want…..for history to be forgotten and re-written. That way, the leftists can try again.

        1. You know you are on target when you start seeing flak from leftists. Leftists are so ignorant of history…..they don’t like being exposed for the scum they are.

      1. “Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past.” — ‘1984’

    2. 60,000 Canadians died during World War I, and the ultimate result was Bolshevist rule over the largest country in the world. 40,000 Canadians died during the war for Stalin in which Eastern Europe — and 4 years later the most populous country in the world — ended up under Communist rule. This is the lesson of the 2 world wars and this is what should be remembered on Remembrance Day.

    3. Right.

What should be phased out is ungrateful snowflakes.

Would you like to phase out how Japan was defeated? Those that ignore history are doomed to repeat it.

    4. You do understand most of us have pegged you as a gamma soyboy living in its progenitors’ basement, right, UnMork? Here’s some advice. Crawl into sunlight, go to the gym and do some weights. Stop believing you’re smarter than everyone else because you’re not. We can see your mid-wittery from orbit. Perhaps you can work your way out of being a useless gamma if you shut up, listen and try to improve both body and mind. Otherwise, you will remain a thoroughly unhappy specimen with no chance of success in this life.

  2. Remembrance day shall never be phased out…..If you don’t remember the past you will have no Future…..Only the Mentality ill have no need to have a past Memory…..Canada imported the BS Color problems from the Caribbean Islands…..Why are they in Canada if they don’t like Canadian History! It is the White Europeans who built a civilized Canada…The good, bad, and Ugly…Knowing the difference is IQ

.Get over yourself UnMe… you may belong in Russia, not likely they will soon want to forget

    1. “If you don’t remember the past you will have no Future”

Not all of us need a dedicated day to remember the past or any aspect thereof.

“Canada imported the BS Color problems from the Caribbean Islands”

These problems are ‘bs’ in that they don’t exist.

      1. Tell that to the families whose members have been regularly gunned down in the streets of Toronto as the Liberal Party facilitated the Jamaican Justice System’s criminal purge via a plane ticket to Toronto.

And I have no doubt that the very same Liberal Party encouragement helped find a place for many criminal Asian elements in BC.

Not of all you deserve to be here at all, and you are their posterchild.

You are a shining example why the Quebec-Toronto Party needs to be obliterated.

        And the earth salted.

        1. And yet there’s been no increase in crime with increased immigration. You’ve been saying this stuff for literally a half century. You’re wrong get over it.

          1. look you fucking idiot, when I sponsored my friend from Jamaica,. to Canada, he warned about letting the wrong types in from there, as have other Jamaican friends since then. My landlord also agrees with that. So until you learn from those who come here from there shut your ignorant effing pie hole

  3. Those that forget history (or are so eager to cover it over and distort it) are doomed to repeat it.

Perhaps the left is so anxious to erase the noble sacrifice of these incredible people is because they wish to put in place the very system these brave men fought so bravely against.

    1. That’s part of the reason they’re doing this, Chris. They’re bigots who think it will work “properly” this time because they’re in charge, and they’re superior to those who have tried it before.

Don’t bother them with history, because it can’t apply to people as smart, beautiful, and woke as they are. That they will be among the first up against the wall and shot is a nonsensical thought to them. That’s why they don’t want to know history.

    2. We are told they fought against fascism, and they did. Unfortunately, due to the unrelenting narrative pushed by academia and media, most today believe that fascism is “right-wing”, as opposed to socialism, which is “left-wing”.
      2 quotes on fascism…
Italian fascist Benito Mussolini said “Everything within the state, nothing outside the state, nothing against the state”. …
      Or….
“The first fascist regime was established by Benito Mussolini in Italy in 1925. The word fascism comes from “fasci ,” an Italian term for “bundle of sticks” that was a symbol for strength in unity. Fascists believe in one-party, totalitarian control of a nation and its economy.”

      Takes a whole village, right?

Government involvement, and eventual control of an economy – sound familiar?
Or the second fascist regime to gain notoriety….what was the moniker of that party?
Oh, right – the National SOCIALIST Party.

The myth that fascism is the opposite of socialism has served the left well.
Sure, Hitler and Stalin hated each other, and eventually went to war.
That is not because they were opposites, but rather because they were the same – think of a turf war between rival street gangs.
The fascism that our men fought against…it is in our streets with every Antifa demonstration, every green protest and call for government control/intervention, every call for more welfare, every assumption that the Group is more important than the individual or any moral principle held by that individual, and every call to silence those who oppose the expansion of the State into our economy, our schools, and our moral standards.
It is NOT just a label to throw at anybody you are unable to debate.
A more realistic continuum would be no government control on one extreme, (anarchy) and total government control on the other extreme (socialism and fascism, which yield the same results, albeit with slightly different jargon).

  4. Juno Beach museum eye-opener to what life like leading to WW2.
My dad lost part of left leg sweeping for land mines. Saw the detector rig on display.
His twin brother laid to rest in cdn cemetery at Benny-Sur-Mer, KIA June 6, 1944, two days after his 25th birthday.
Solemn place to pay respect. Not forgotten.

    1. Arthur, my son was a member of the Burlington Teen Tour Band. They traveled to France for the D-Day ceremonies this past June. As part of the trip they visited Beny-Sur-Mer. Each band member was given a “dog tag” with information about a fallen Canadian soldier. They were required to research their soldier and post information to a website. They visited the cemetary the day before the D-Day ceremonies. Each band member payed a visit to their soldier’s grave. Here’s a video blog the kids made of that day. God bless your father and uncle. Cheers.

  5. Freedom isn’t free, it has a cost.
The poppy is our reminder of that cost.

And that still holds today, freedom has a cost.
all it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing!

  6. Canada has obviously welcomed a very ungrateful, disruptive, just not ready class of immigrants.
The absolute dregs of the world.
    Unme being a perfect example.

But what do you expect when your immigration policies are predicated on Liberal Party electoral needs.
To be dumb enough to want to bring with them the failing governments they escaped.

The kind of stupid reasoning that epitomizes Liberalism.

For the first time, I’ve come to believe Canada will not survive.
20 years max and we’ll be Yankee doodle dandering.

And the Liberals and their Corrupt Canadian Media will be the cause.

    1. I love how you’re flipping out over some people not wearing poppies and calling them snowflakes/triggered at the same time. So little self-awareness.

  7. I think the push against the poppy is less about the stated anti-war, anti-colonial, pro-my-cause-du-jour.

Remembrance is a simple, powerful message and this is an attempt to erase that powerful 20th century meme. They want us to forget.

Forget that there were people, our people, who were strong, brave, and willing to sacrifice so much to stand against tyrants.

We now face a tyranny of the masses and they want us to forget that in fact, we did, and could still, stand to.

  8. There’s a bit on the video of the D-Day celebration at Arromanches. A young British singer named Emma Brown sings “We’ll Meet Again” to the assembled vets. At a point she drops to her knees to sing a duet with one of the vets. I’m the lucky guy who got to see it live on the BBC, do my military service after Korea and before Vietnam really heated up. And got to fly to Paris in 1994 with a bunch of the WW2 guys on their way to D-Day plus 50. 11 hours I won’t forget.

  9. My grandfather fought in the first world war, my Dad fought in the second world war, and I lost two uncles in that war. I served in Canada’s army most of my life until I retired as a major ten years ago. I will stand at the Remembrance Day ceremonies tomorrow in my small rural Ontario town, and remember the greatest generation who built and defended this country.

    1. Thanks for your service.
My son is currently serving. He deploys overseas next spring for a 6 month tour.

    2. Ontario John: Bravo zulu.
One of my forebears (a Campbell) served with Wolfe on the Plains of Abraham. Both my grandfathers served overseas with the Canadian Army in WWI. My dad was an RCAF sergeant air gunner in the England in WWII. I wore the light blue for over twenty years. One of my uncles, lost a leg in Holland.

I attended the Remembrance Day service in my town yesterday. They hold one ceremony on Sunday to capture the youth and will have another today. It was very well attended. Large crowd. The air, army and sea cadets were on parade with the Legion members veterans. There were a few WII and Korean war vets in attendance. I also noted several younger men wearing the Afghanistan war gong. Bless them.

      Per ardua ad astra,
      John the Mad CD

    3. Thank you for your service, sir. How clear it is, reading this page, which posters should be admired and which should be given the distain they deserve.

  10. In answer to the question at the bottom, “have Canadians lost the will to fight for their freedoms”…

Unequivocally, without question, yes. Canada is post national, post rational, post liberty, post honor, post sanity…

    1. Billy Mike,
UnMe needs to explain how a count of the “Undocumented” is calculated.. Nonsense needs no supporting data.. I guess you could say they are not ALL Human.. Aliens mixed in…. A trivial task for fake Stats…..

  11. Excellent article at the link and so true. While we might be suffering economically at the hands of our nearly communist masters, at least I can say I live on the prairies and we didn’t help to elect any of them.

  12. unme, if you we were to meet face with me, you would cease to exist. I have given others the ability to see me face to face all across North America, no one single asshole ever took the challenge. I do not threaten, I act. You are so stupid that you could only exist on the internet. A ball less coward.
