The auto-tuned wailing of child climate puppets drowns out a valid oil patch question: have we forgotten that necessity is the mother of invention?

We can’t do anything about the climate change fear train when activists control the media and the governments. We can however switch from a scarcity mindset, where we we see lack of market access being the main delimiter to success, to an abundance mindset, where we recognize the potential of Canada’s incredible resource base. A rallying cry to refocus our energy and develop our resources in new ways that critics will hate but that we can win at. Read on…

  1. I quit this article as soon as they started hyping the permanently dead hydrogen economy.

Hydrogen takes 7 times the storage space as gasoline for equivalent energy. How are you going to pipe and store that.

Hydrogen embrittlement of metal is a huge problem

Hydrogen is barely even an atom. It is 1 proton and one electron. It can seep through anything.

We are separating and we are building the damn pipeline.

That is immensely easier than fighting hydrogen quantum mechanics and hydrogen physics.

    1. Precisely – People who hype Hydrogen as some kind of gasoline replacement don’t do physics.

    2. But, but, but … Nuclear Fusion
      Just around the corner.

“Mr. Fusion” powered Marty McFly’s DeLorean … and it ran on trash and banana peels! You mean that wasn’t “real”?

  2. As I’ve said over and over, this whole business of “Climate Change” (and the Abortion Industry and the Eugenics Society) has its origins in Thomas R. Malthus’ essay on human population growth vs. limited resources.

What Malthus NEVER considered was the creativity and innovation of humans in the face of challenging resources (e.g., a growing population).

And, ironically, Malthus was an Anglican theologian who clearly did not read his Bible because that Bible of his says, in essence, to put one’s trust in God for ALL circumstances, even what seems to be limited resources like the few fish and some bread that Jesus’ disciples had just before he fed 5,000 people.

    1. God (of the bible, the creator) gave us many resources, including oil and gas, and the ability to figure out how to use them. Sadly, no one is grateful for this anymore. President Lincoln in his day saw that the people had forgotten God.

See Romans 1:25, Romans 1:18-32, Oh, just read the book of Romans.

      1. The book of Romans is heavy reading on all manner of things. Each time I grapple with it, I find deep wisdom and good, true, and beautiful things.

      2. Exactly right.

Even the whole Bible is a picture of how much God has supplied to us – e.g., starting with the events in Genesis 1 and 2 – and the ability to figure out how to use it.

All he wants from us is our trust in him.

      3. For from the creation of the world the invisible things of Him are clearly seen, being understood through the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuses

        Indeed. Look around you.

      4. precisely and exactly folks.
how’s THIS for a certain irony:
having a form of autism led me to be ostracized a lot during the formative years and since.
which induced me to do a lot of improvising and figuring out stuff and huge reliance on provable factual science and logic based investigations and learning and more learning.
aka I rely heavily on empirical evidence and provable factual phenomenon.

put that beside the ‘just belliiiiiiiieve beliiiiiiiiiiiive’ stuff xians are famous for.
well, *not good enough for me*.
so then came that fateful day when the Q is:
‘well God, if You are real, now’s your chance to prove it, because I am going to read Your Book cover to cover and see for myself what lessons and wisdom it contains’.
fast forward about 10 reads of the NT, the HARD EVIDENCE clearly visible in the world, dovetailing so beautifully with The Word.
all I had to do was step back, take an objective look at the situation and evaluate the evidence of a Living God Who designed and created the physical realm we are in. and left His fingerprints ALL OVER THE PLACE.
from the astounding way quantum mechanics explains EVERYTHING to the incomprehensible staggering distances involved in measuring the size of the universe.
did you get that? *it is my scientific lilt the very thing which convinces me there is an Almighty God and Creator etc etc*

        have a good weekend y’all !!!
tq again and again dear Kate, for this exceptional venue !!!!

    2. What is really ironic is all the concern over human overpopulation and never any criticism of China or India, the two most highly populated countries in the world.

  3. A good definition of a lunatic is … someone who is against using fossil fuels … taking the subway downtown and climbing up onto the roof of the subway cars to prevent other people from taking the subway … because they are against the use of fossil fuels.

A good definition of a hypocrite is Leonardo DiCaprio.

  4. Maybe Climate Barbie can send some retarded teenagers to shovel my lane today so I can get into town.

  5. HOW DARE YOU!
(sorry I have a raging case of Gretourettes).

    Seriously you make great sense.

You should put this on one side of a business card with the single word FACTS on the other side.

“Building a pipeline is hard (if not impossible). Convincing the world that they can’t live without hydrocarbons is hard (if not impossible). Getting the federal government to treat resource development in the country more seriously than climate change is hard (if not impossible)“.

  6. What ever happened to big blow bag Al Gore? Is he writing a sequel to inconvenient truth?
Someone needs to do a counter story on inconvenient facts, it’s long overdue.

  7. The green movement screwed up 40 years ago by making a strategic error in stalling nuclear power development in the US and parts of Europe. They ultimately pitted themselves against prosperity. The reality today is that regardless of the noise level of the CAGW hysteria pimps, petroleum and coal is the only alternative to massive de-industrialization and poverty on a global scale. When the greens or their apologists claim that the issue of economy or “environment” is not mutually exclusive they lie. Ignoring the very real issue of the invalidity of the anti-CO2 argument, their definition of a “better environment” presupposes the abandonment of fossil fuels which, given the lack of any realistic alternative, leaves nothing to take its place but death and economic destruction on a massive global scale. The Gerald Butts’ of the world know this and thus slink around in the background engineering and manipulating their mindless or deep believing flunkies to implement the disasters that follow. The backlash will, once the reality sets in, be significant in the west as the big global players (India and China) are ignoring it, burning fossils like never before, and going nuclear.

    1. At one point the Sierra Club were advocates of Nuclear energy. Then the Malthusian mental cases took over. Gerald Butts is definitely an enemy of 99% of mankind.

  8. One of the things that pisses me off is that We are constantly told We have to do something as if We weren’t, that everything was static. “We have to do something.”
It’s absolutely false that nothing has or is being done to curb real pollution and reduce waste.
    We all know:
People used to primarily heat their homes with wood and coal. Me thinks the efficiencies gained since those were the norm are enormous, but no credit. My old gas furnace was only about 75% efficient. My current one is in the high nineties. How about combustion engine efficiencies? Nobody below the age of 20 even knows what a catalytic converter is. How about construction technological improvements. Building envelope improvements?
Its never enough for these Chicken Littles because they are ignorant beyond the pale.

  9. No oil, no gas , no coal, no life. They can die if they wish, I will not follow any of them down the rabbit hole.

    1. They’re dragging me, kicking and screaming, with them … here in CA. Goodbye Natural gas in new homes (soon to be banned in existing homes).

      I’m looking a Montana property

        1. Too close to my SEC securities fraud convicted brother in law. Although his death may precede my moving.

  10. The piece is wrong.
Forget appeasing these fools and bandits will never work, the new state religion has all the intolerance and arrogance of the ones that failed before it.
    Statism is a failed charade.
The useless and clueless are attracted to the Cult of Calamitous Climate, because it allows them to ignore their inadequacies and lets them feel that they are better than the average human.
With a failed education,no useful skills and an inability to use any kind of tool, where else can they go?
    Oh right; Government.
Reality will only occur, for it cannot return wench it has never been, when they are starving in the cold dark basements after their parasitic existence kills off their parents.
“People it is said go mad in crowds, but return to reality one at a time”
Well that is great. But what if they have never seen reality before?
Protecting the useless and clueless until you have to cull them in huge numbers, has always been a consequence of “being kind”.
The demanding brats, who currently rule, have never heard “No”,they believe that all resistance can be overcome with ,whining, snivelling and temper tantrums.
    Banishment is our only hope.
Hence we need a new country.
One where non contributing citizens are not rewarded just for breathing.

    1. Unfortunately, the governments and their useless followers will have the growers, makers and doers of society rounded up and culled first. Only then will they discover that they are all cold and hungry, but they will still not understand that the thingy on the coffee table that magicly brings every want and need to their front door, is useless without the growers, makers, and doers.

  11. “They’re dragging me, kicking and screaming, with them … here in CA. Goodbye Natural gas in new homes (soon to be banned in existing homes).

    I’m looking a Montana property”
Im surprised your not already there. I watched a video the other day of a guy who moved to Las Vegas from Cali.and his mortgage was paid for by the reduction in his taxes he paid in Cali.

    1. The ‘numbers’ favor my wife remaining employed for a couple more years … probably retiring right when the Warren/AOC Green New Deal economy crashes EVERYTHING.

      1. kenji: you need to somewhat factor in the possibility that the pension due will fall before some
        leftist Demoncrap edict-from-on-high.
given enough time, anything can happen.
but, for sure, go for the best choice at this time.

the good news for californicate is all that barren burned out former forested areas now present
the possibility of lots and lots and lots of greenhouse agriculture.
and since everything has been burned up, the water can be used for irrigation . . . . . . .

  12. The climate fraud is real, nothing but feel good nonsense that fuels free stuff for simple morons…. The Oil & Coal fuel replacement is not Windmills or Sun mirrors……Yes! before I heave this planet (78 years old) energy will become simple and leave those invested high in BS crap… Want to eat those rubber Pucks…Welcome Fools… Science has moved on and the results are not beneficial to existing economic policies….Suck it Up
