I, Napoleon

Coming up at 10:15am (Sask time) — Meghan Murphy on John Gormley Live.

We interviewed Meghan Murphy last Monday when protesters, activist groups, and event Toronto Mayor John Tory were working to cancel her speaking event on gender at the Toronto Public Library. Murphy’s argument that recognizing gender based on self-identification can harm women has led to accusations of transphobia, and hundreds turned up to protest the event Tuesday evening. After the event, attendees were mobbed and jeered by a crowd of protesters, and police had to escort them out for their safety. Murphy joins Drew now to talk about the event, the protests, and the importance of free speech – especially when that speech is unpopular.

  1. And people wonder why Toronto voted Liberal. I have been calling for years here in rural Ontario, to build a wall around Toronto.

    1. “…I have been calling for years here in rural Ontario, to build a wall around Toronto…:

Your “Trawna Boy” Premier has other ideas. See my comment in Reader Tips at 10:28. More like Toronto will take over Rural Ontario.

      1. If the government would only confiscate farmer Johns’ varmint rifle things like this wouldn’t happen.
A line from an old WWII song comes to mind “Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition and we’ll all stay free”

    2. If Quebec ever votes to leave Canada, (unlikely), there must be the condition that they must take Toronto with them.

        1. Set off a hydrogen bomb on Parliament Hill and be done with it. Nothing of value will be lost.

Just give me notice so I can be a safe distance away when it goes off.

          1. nah, we just need a modern day Guy Fawkes.
            no collateral damage then.
*then* we collect up all the LIEberals, take them out onto the tundra and do a ‘Tsar Bomba’ on them.

    3. I can’t help but think of the British Remoaners who dream of LONDON seceding from the UK and becoming its own city-state (and EU member), leaving the rest of England to rot. A colder and duller version of Singapore.

Of course, Singapore is independent today because Malaysia’s parliament voted unanimously to expel Singapore, due to a percieved plot by Singapore’s Chinese elite, who considered Singaporean Malays subhuman and treated them like beasts of burden, to take over the country.

John Tory. If you ever need a stock photo for slimy politician…

  3. Wild hare here.

Isn’t trans men in women’s athletics, somewhat like male privilege? It’s biological, so it’s going to be hard to change that.

    1. I did not think she was defending — I thought she was being sarcastic about the offensive drag queen story hour which pretty much promotes perversion and ridicules women. It would not surprise me if there were some pictures of our own PM as a drag queen floating around somewhere.

      1. no, not Ms Shepherd, but the comments added to her tweet after, by a host of folks.
again, not one of *them* defended the abomination.

    2. Linda is right. It’s sarcasm. They’re a couple weirdos who probably need to wear adult diapers. (Backdoor actions have consequences.)

  5. See, this is proof that vehicle emissions and cell phone radiation does affect our hormones and mental states.

The more there are, the more weirder the people are…

  6. “Opponents to the library’s decision include Toronto Mayor John Tory.”
From 2004 to 2009 John Tory served as the leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario.
