We Don’t Need No Giant Leaky Mirrors

Subsidy Fraud Boy has you covered.

Nobody wants a leaky roof. The consequences from water damage can be really expensive.

So Tesla needs to convince homeowners that its Solarglass roof, which hasn’t shown outside of a laboratory that it can withstand the test of time, is just as reliable as a regular roof. This at a time when Tesla is facing lawsuits from customers whose conventional rooftop solar arrays have caught fire.

  1. Why doesn’t Musk install them on his home? He can also do Al Gore, Leo DiCaprio, David Suzuki, etc.

    1. Climate Barbie, Gerald Butts, Stephan Dion, Little Greta, AOC, Bernie Sanders, Pete Buttigieg and the Democrats running for President of the USA in 2020.

    2. These luxurious, electric, virtue-signaling vehicles are still in a very long experimental stage. They are dangerous and rather stupid if one considers the price for what you are actually getting. EVs are very limited in range. They are useless in any climate other than what Californian’s enjoy. Only rich guilty Liberals can afford them or even want them.

Check the vanity license plate on this Tesla. Says it all …

  2. the other issue that may or may not have been addressed yet is that the tiles get hot, degrading performance of the cells. One of the reasons that usually the panels have stand offs.

Also, the previous attempt, couldn’t be made to work before tesla got involved.

      1. Kenji that is a good analogy for the constant incompetent interfering of government, “perpetual motion machine”.

        1. A perpetual printing press that just churns out $$ money!! Uh … and that perpetual money is always worth the same in buying power … no matter how much is printed. Everybody gets Everything they want.

  3. PT Barnum gets into the roofing business, and the patrons line up for blocks and blocks. Every single one of my last 10 clients have signed up on the Tesla Solar Roof waiting list … and they’re still waiting. And I am still waiting for Tesla to publish a single detailed drawing of the installation of their roof. Zip. Nada.

But the subsidies roll in … as fast as a “high speed” CA train. Oops!

It’s soooooo easy to CON woke politicians into giving-away taxpayer $$$$

  4. It will be a red-letter day in the history of American capitalism when Elon Musk is deported to South Africa with nothing but the clothes on his back after serving his time in an American prison.

By all accounts, Mandelastan is a truly awful place for an old white man with no money to wait for death. It would suit Elon to a T.

    1. There will have to be thousands of enabling crooks that go with him, many from the US government.

  5. I don’t care how efficient solar panels become, that can’t alter the fact that most, or in some cases, all of the available roof area is too poorly oriented to get maximum use of the available sunshine. And, given that solar panels are extremely expensive, putting them anyplace other than the most favorable sites is just damned stupid. It’d be like paying $3000 for a gold-plated crab trap, and then throwing it in a farm pond, instead of in the ocean.

    1. Agreed, but if one were to put a nice proposal together to conduct research into a solar panel that works under a layer of snow, Catherine and Justin would probably give you money.

I think it was Pierre Trudeau who gave $75,000 to some profs in Ontario to research ways to improve the spreadablity of butter. Their conclusion? Heat it.

      1. Meh…In Calgary, here just recently, the CITY in its infinite arrogance (aka wisDOOM), put up ads for the following positions:

        Walking Co-ordinator
        Cycling Co-ordinator

Both had salary ranges from $ 85,000 to 135,000 Annually..!!
I don’t quite understand the spread, what those 2 would actually do nor let alone what tin foiled hatted socialist Dolt came up with that shit…? But Clearly goes to show, when it aint YOUR $$$, Govt can find ways to spend it in the most insane way…. Nenshi and gang Emulating the Trudeau liberals

        Have a great Tuesday y’all..!!
Time to crawl under the blankets

        1. Obviously a walking coordinator who made $135,000 would have more walking experience than one earning just $85,000.

My electricity bills are lowest at night and during the summer. They design solar panels in warm climates and sell them in cold ones.

        2. Maybe the walking coordinator will be able to agitate for the tens of thousands of people walking downtown every day in contrast to the thousand or so cyclists (a few hundred in the winter). And then the sidewalks can finally get cleared of snow before the damn bike paths. That might make the position worthwhile.

        3. Dang! I consider myself an “expert” in both walking and cycling. Pay me $six figures to help coordinate the uncoordinated walkers! My first tip is for FREE! … “Wear sensible shoes”

But in all seriousness … here’s what walking and cycling coordinators REALLY do … they attack automobiles. They work to eliminate your car. Work to eliminate your “trips”. Work to eliminate … parking. The current zoning codes in San Francisco RESTRICT the number of parking stalls a building can provide. RESTRICT PARKING!!! It used to be JUST the OPPOSITE. It used to be that cities MADE Developers provide adequate parking for their residents or customers … now they restrict it. Stupid, doesn’t even come close to describe it.

It’s the same “theory” used by Jerry Brown when he sued Cal Trans constantly (via his buddies at the Sierra Club, et.al.) to STOP maintenance, repairs, and widening of freeways in CA. Jerry (and all the “eco”-leftists) believe if you simply ignore and restrict accommodations for automobiles, that people will “get out of their automobiles”. It is such a laughable, sophomoric, “belief” that has NOT come close to happening. In fact, all it has done is create massive traffic jams on CA freeways that INCREASES air pollution and misery.

  6. Steakman, I wonder could a walking co-ordinator organize a long walk off a very high cliff for those who come up with such idiocy?

    1. OWG
      One could only hope..
This from the same city council that wishes to mandate 30 km/hr speed limits across the city. Why.?? Beats the hell outa me, seems rush hour would be extended till 9PM, Daycare costs would double and (even though “emissions” are utter BS), it would triple them.

That Fat islamic Fk Nenshi and his Fascist Virtue signaling Cabal are in for a rude awakening next election..

Oh, gee that , musta been my “inner voice”….

  7. I don’t get it. Why so negative? I’ll grant that solar power isn’t very practical above 40 degrees north latitude (where you folks are) but there is huge section of the US and Mexico where it is eminently so. And putting it on the roof or as the roof is a great idea.

Can Musk deliver? Don’t know. But I support his efforts.

Just moved to Arizona……..360 days of sun per year.

    1. Because there is the everlasting promise and no delivery of product, most of the development paid for through taxes. Like many schemes “entrepreneurs” put forward to the government types who are technology idiots. Such as cucumber growing greenhouses in eastern Canada that had “sprung” up all over the place and never delivered any cucumbers. Or electric trucks… or $30,000 electric vehicles… or organic dog food (that was more local to my area – and why does a private company need government money to develop organic dog food anyway).

  8. field testing?
    field testing?
well. speaking as a representative of Tesla, I can assert our field test consisted of hosing down all
the cow pies that landed on our field sample and noting it didnt catch fire.
    so there.
