Coulda Had Max

John Robson nails it.

As Canada’s worst election ever staggers toward the finish line, a theme has finally emerged. Despite the best efforts of the party leaders to say nothing coherent or true at any point, we know what it’s about. Everyone is running against the Tories. Including the Tories. Makes you wonder what they’re so afraid of.

[…]

Bernier may be an imperfect human being and a flawed politician. It happens. But whatever his blemishes, his party exists because the Tories abandoned their beliefs and their base long before 2017 on every important conservative issue from free markets to traditional social values to strong national defence. Which brings me to the Tories, if I can catch them as they flee over the horizon.

  1. All Canadians have to vote for is varying shades of Communism. The CPC has become the old PC party of Joe Clark and Kim McTwit,

    1. Thanks, you beat me to it.
Commie, commie, commie, and commie. Some “choice”. Then you get this tossed at you: https://www.blazingcatfur.ca/2019/10/16/watch-canadian-islamic-cleric-calls-all-candidates-evil-for-supporting-homosexuality-and-zionism/

The goblin in the room, you friggin’ “diversity clowns”. All hail the Diversity Wars. It’s coming.

I’m buying popcorn and bullets, in that order. Then I’m sitting back and watching things unfold in Kanaduh, while decisions made for those living in the REAL Kanaduh (north of 49, not like in Tronna, situated just north of the Oregon/Cali border in relative terms) become “difficult” ’cause reducing carbon. Keep smoking that bong Tronna.

    2. Been saying that for decades. I now no longer care. Canadians and Canada can destroy themselves to their heart’s content. My kids and grandkids will be unhappy eventually, too freaking bad.

  2. Well the most disgraceful Canadian Media Liberal Lackey Party has certainly picked sides in a big way, as usual:

      1. It obviously aint going well for the Twerp.

Canadian Media presents scary good old favourite……Quebec Separation!!

Canadian Media presents Tory Rebellion, bring on the Scheerslayer, old Pete!!

Canadian Media presents our next PM is a MAGA citizen!!!

Canadian Media presents The Bestest President Ever(and biracial too) has kind words for our often racist PM!!!!

        The Desperation drips.

        The Fakeness is futile.

        The lies are laughable.

It’s like watching the Democrats and their Media on Trumps election.

Liberals and their Lying Media wailing!!

        That’s entertainment baby!

    1. May we, who aren’t a part of the GTA in Ontario, join the West?

      Please!! PLEASE!!

      We are attached to Manatoba.

We’re all not Commies in Ontario.

  3. Article is more liberal b.s. As far as Max goes he can say anything and can promise the moon as he has less than 0 chance of forming government.Conservatives will win this election

        1. And should be considered for that reason in CPC “safe” ridings. In others it should be compared with the importance of defeating the Liberals by voting for whoever has the best chance of taking or keeping that seat out of their hands. Think about that, then do what you think best with your vote.

        2. some of us have been telling the stupid cons ever since Joke clark McScheep became leader to dump him. Ever time they asked me for $$$$ I so, and got ignored just like the liberals ignore their constituents

    1. Exactly. Max is running against the Conservatives spouting far right issues no Conservative could ever get elected on.

Judging by the numbers voting in early polls change is coming IMO.

      1. Some of those issues are “far” right because the far left has pulled the centre a long way in their direction. While the Conservative are not getting elected on those issues, conservatives should be working to claw back what has been lost. Or just throw in the towel, join the left in plundering what past generations built and handed down and enjoy the ride to the collapse, hoping we die in relative comfort before we see it.

        1. “Or just throw in the towel, join the left in plundering what past generations built and handed down and enjoy the ride to the collapse, hoping we die in relative comfort before we see it.”

          That’s Scheer’s platform in a nutshell.

      2. liz, cons barking abou abortion issuse, and against rite to choose assissted suicide, and anti marajauna is what drives many people away from the cons. And max is the only one who advocates to not wip the party. You are ignorant of what the PPC stnads for. You are as STUPID as Ooz

  4. This federal election was the campaign we needed an Wexit Party.
    1) To turn the screws on the federal leaders, particularly Scheer.
    2) To align with the rising popularity of the Block, the shakeup Confederation either by separation, or a new deal for the west.

  5. Canada, means TRUDEAUS FOREVER (you know there will be a third, a fourth, … a 345th, …).
Canada, means Prime Minster Jessica Yaniv (eventually, you know it’s coming).
    Post national, is post rational.
    Canada, is a failed state.

There is only one way forward; unilateral declaration of independence, and the end of equalization, the charter, the CWB (you KNOW they want that one back), the CBC, …

  6. It’s certainly true that we coulda had Max. No one was more disappointed about that than me: all in my household voted for Max, down the line, and I believe the CPC missed a historic opportunity in not electing him leader.

But we don’t have Max, and, personally, I think it’s time to move on. IMO, this election is about harm reduction: are we a serious country, or are we one run by Gerald Butts? The damage in Ontario is manifest, as Mr. Robson points out, and Jagmeet Singh put his foot exactly where it belongs, which I correctly predicted he would, in this space, based on his voting record as an Ontario MPP, wherein he voted consistently to keep the McGuinty-Wynne (read Gerald Butts) Liberals in office.

As it happens, we know folks in the U.K. who are Tories, through-and-through, but who think that Nigel Farage is a complete fraud. Nigel’s at 12% and more in the polls. Max is at, oh, I don’t know, 2% average, maybe.

Andrew’s not exciting me, but he ain’t killing me either (technically, I think he will make a very good PM). Besides which, we’ll have the opportunity to throw him in four years if we don’t like him, just as we have the opportunity — right now — to put paid to Gerald Butts.

    1. “are we a serious country, or are we one run by Gerald Butts?”

I’m not sure if Canada has been a serious country since the days of the world wars. This election will change precisely bupkis about that depressing fact.

    2. David You are correct. While I would prefer Max for a number of his policies, the issue for those of us on the right, is getting Trudeau out first. As you say, we can always fire Scheer in another four years, if we get Trudeau out now, his goose is cooked. Even Steven Harper had to leave once he could not retain the PM office. If we get him out now, we’ll never have to deal with his crap again, and I’ll be dead long before his kids try to run for PM. I’m voting Conservative not because I like Scheer, but because I detest Mr Dress up and his policies. I detest what he is doing to this country. He gotta go now!

      1. HA HA HA ha ha ha ha ha ha h ah ah aha so funny.

“If we get him out now, we’ll never have to deal with his crap again” you will be seeing Trudeau three very shortly.

And I will laugh when it happens, because I told you so, and you still voted for Scheer and tried to save Canada anyway.

    3. David scheep has NO leadership skills, and has never had an every day job that would allow him to resinate with us common folk. Why vote stupid as as box of dead rox when we already have that. If andy 2% fails, and he is trying hard to do just that, why prolong the agony ???

  7. I honestly believe Scheer is running a platform that is simply based on We are no different from the liberals, except we have not be caught in improper actions like the PM.
He doesn’t want to offend anyone with any type of Conserve policy.

The problem is the media has so turned on Max, that none of his policies make the regular news broadcasts or articles. His message is not getting out of his campaign.

  8. “…trading ferocious rhetorical barbs over trivial differences.” — John Robson

I LOVE that line; it is just so cuttingly concise and accurate. It may be the quote of the century.

  9. Why are the Conservatives not calling Trudeau out on his old promise to help the middle class and those wishing to join it?
What has he done aside from taxing everything we need to survive that comes close to keeping that promise he made four years ago?

  10. Also, it is pretty obvious why Scheer doesn’t want to win; this is the last election Canada has before it all hits the fan. They know it. Unifor knows it. CBC knows it.

Whomever wins this time around, is the one holding the bag.

    1. “We are pretending to know about things we don’t know about, and we are pretending to not know about things we all knew til yesterday.”

  11. “I’m a nationalist. Well, maybe I’m an eternal optimist but I don’t believe we’d be any better off separating,” said Lowe. “I think the way we work things out is nationally and we just have to pull together and do that.”

That was me until 2 years ago. I realized that Alberta and Saskatchewan would never really get a fair deal in Canada because of voter realities and regional hierarchies but I still believed in Canada. Not anymore. I don’t believe in Canada at all.

This will be the 1st federal election in my adult life that I won’t vote in because my allegiance has shifted away from Canada and towards my province and Alberta. When 4 out of 5 Canadian federal parties are proposing to destroy the economy of two provinces, loyalty to that country is impossible.

What’s happening in Canada today isn’t just policy differences, as the central Canadian media and politicians like to refer to the the energy and agricultural attacks in Alberta and Saskatchewan from Ottawa. For Alberta and Saskatchewan it’s like your neighbors and home owners association voting to burn down your house and home business…with you and your family still inside the building.

    1. This will be the last election that I vote for a national party (PPC). From October 22 onwards I will be supporting western or Albertan separation.

To remain in confederation is to assure the destruction of Alberta and any remaining chance we have for liberty and prosperity. (No matter who is elected…it is the nature of canada)

      1. This will be the last election that I vote for a national party (PPC). From October 22 onwards I will be supporting western or Albertan separation.

        That makes two of us.

          1. I would as well – in a positive way – if I could, sitting in middle of Ottawa. Guilt by association?
I would also vote for K-bec separation if I could. What normal person wouldn’t? They’re bastards.

        1. More than just vote Gentlemen, they need your brain and your moral guidance. Be strong and bold. Step up and help birth the new Republic of Alberta. Freedom does not come cheap, come out of the shadows and do what is right for our future. It is almost time to spit on your hands and wring a few necks. My dream of almost 40 years is that my fellow Albertan’s eventually quit being emotional about Canada and think of their children and grandchildren. And give them a true gift of Liberty and Freedom. Hopefully Albertans choose my favourite the Swiss model of government. Where the citizen makes all the big choices and the Greasy Politicians are nobody’s. Go UDI Alberta Go UDI

      2. The rest of Canada remains willfully blind about what’s happening in Alberta. Since Trudeau has marshalled the full power of the federal government in Ottawa to hurt the prairie energy industry – suicides, bankruptcies, home foreclosures and marriage breakdowns have all gone up. Due to environmental policies proposed an implemented by people like Team Trudeau and Greta’s handlers, many childhoods have been destroyed in Alberta. Yet no one cares about those kids because they’re prairie kids with parents in the energy industry. And the Liberal Party. And the NDP. And the Green Party. And the Bloc.

Meanwhile the effect on the global climate by destroying the prairie energy industry is minuscule, somewhere around. 001C or less by 2100, I’d guess. All those livelihoods and Alberta’s economy damaged for what? Nothing. All I see is cruelty and callousness towards blue collar prairie families from Canada and Canadians.

        1. Remember, those 4 federal Canadian parties that want to destroy Alberta and Saskatchewan’s energy industry have all but said they will join together to form government and then continue, if not accelerate, the attacks on PrairieWest even if the Conservatives win the most seats. We all know that Conservatives will dominate in Alberta and Saskatchewan. So a coalition of second, third and possibly 4th place parties will agree to sabotage an industry and wipe out thousands and thousands of jobs, wreck two provincial economies with no representation from the affected region. Has anyone considered how this will play out, even if it is constitutionally acceptable?

If that scenario does happens, I think at a point in the near future, someone will write a book about Canada 2019 titled “How to Win an Election but Lose a Country”

  12. The accurate article points out that the left will win this election because it will result in the CPC getting the most votes but in minority territory and since all other parties are an untenable “partner” to form a coalition or to offer support, the “others” will form government and if they stay true to their dogma, Alberta and friends will have to leave or perish in Butts’ green dystoptian hell. Scheer’s gamble of pissing on the base while wooing the mindless mushy middle looks like failure. Max’s voters are rubbing salt in that wound but accomplishing little else.

  13. Scheep clearly doesn’t want to win. With all the material that Prinz Dummkopf gave him, Namby Andy should have escalated the Conservative election campaign to an electoral equivalent of Defcon 1 and annihilated the Liberals as a party simply by using the truth. Instead, Mr. Marshmallow Spine sits in the corner and sucks his thumb.

To paraphrase a part of the film noir Out of the Past (Robert Mitchum, Jane Greer, and Kirk Douglas), this country will be in trouble if Scheer doesn’t win, but it also will be if he does.

  14. As a British Columbian ( read disenfranchised Canadian ) I feel I need to put my 2 cents in. I look at the field of politicians and all I see are Progressive Green Scammers, with the exception of CCP or is that PPC of which all I see is a Quebec potitician maybe it should be PRC. I tire of voting none of the above. Time to leave.

    1. – Please remember that the CPC alone did not vote to support the Liberal declaration of a “Climate Crisis”.

  15. MSM.ca via drive by smear jobs controls the narrative and therefore the vote. E.g. Max & the PPC are alt-right re. on immigration.
The narrative is total BS. It’s not about Max. It’s about having an honest public debate about the issues. But the plantation owners wouldn’t want that. We can go along with their dirty game, which would encourage more of the same, or we can send a message.

  16. We have been shamed and silenced from saying anything on the immigration file. E.g.
    https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/pakistani-canadian-senator-maxime-bernier-tweet-1.4786506

Max says we don’t want these sectarian hostilities imported into Canada and a Harper appointed Muslim Senator of Pakistani birth calls him out for being “divisive”.

The same senator advocates for Sikh separatists in India & calls attention to the plight of Sikhs in India while the Muslims are displacing the Sikhs by the 10’s of thousands in Pakistan.

Here’s what a lefty Brownie had to say in the tweet exchange (Tarek Fatah):

“After decades living in Canada and benefiting from the True North @asmaAmahmood3, it is a shame to see that loyalty of Pakistani Canadians is for Pakistan first and towards a mass murderer JINNAH rather than Canada.”

Also: “I respect the diversity of Canada but I want to celebrate what unites us, not what divides us into tiny tribes that can be manipulated by leaders who sell us to the highest bidder.”

It takes a Brownie to say what a Whitey can’t say without getting tagged as a divisive Islamophobe.

  17. Douglas Bader: “I think the greatest of all human virtues is loyalty. It embraces all the best of the human character: courage, faith, love and charity.”

Ms.McMillan, ask your beautiful little dogs to explain this to you.

    1. No one – animal, human or a province – should be expected to remain loyal to someone who is neglecting or abusing them.

    2. Or find a survivor of the WWII German Wehrmacht and ask them about that motto “My Honor is Loyalty” that kept them fighting to the more complete destruction of their country.

  18. It’ll be a Venezuelan scenario for the corrupt Easterners when the Western part of their post national country declares separation.

It will serve them right. That’s what they are cruising for, but oh, they’ll be green alright.

    Green with envy.

  19. Found this tweet on Manny’s feed. In large part it came from Faith Goldy. Thought it was apropos.
Scheer is a spineless, visionless, potato who is unable to secure a solid W amid ethics breeches, sex and race based scandals, open borders, and rising taxes. Forget progressive Ontario. Scheer is the problem.

BTW I wouldn’t vote for Mad Max either. Sadly this ‘crawl across broken glass to vote conservative’ conservative can’t find a conservative to vote for.

  20. Liberals must really be getting desperate,,,, B. Hussain Obama has tweeted his support for Justin this morning, and hopes/asks Canadians re-elect him as PM.
FFS, talk about external interference in our political democracy !

    1. “B. Hussain Obama has tweeted his support for Justin”

So blackface is okay and not an unforgivable sin? Good to know.

      1. “I was proud to work with Justin Trudeau as President,” Obama wrote on Twitter. “He’s a hard-working, effective leader who takes on big issues like climate change. The world needs his progressive leadership now, and I hope our neighbors to the north support him for another term.”
Butts probably blew a load when he read that. There’s nothing more validating than approval from Uncle Barack (BBC) to make Canadian urban quims come alive.

    2. I hope it works as well as the stern talking-to Obama gave the U.K. just before the Brexit vote!

  21. The gutless wonder Scheer will lose the most winnable election in Canadian history.
    Maybe in all history.

    Is that being too harsh?
If it is too harsh I could apologize and denounce myself and turn myself in to the Gestapo or something.
    Maybe self exile and banishment…

    1. You think he can beat Kim Campbell? I think he can, I BELIEVE IN SCHEER!

Has anyone ever gone from official opposition, to zero seats?

  22. Already voted in the advance poll, but there wasn’t any Reform Party alternative…
My local candidate is pro life; so I thought ok I won’t have to vote for a ‘baby killer’!

Perhaps the only achievable objective in this election is to rid the nation of the Prime Doofus.

In any case, if you don’t vote for anyone of the 101 flavours of communism on the left; yer a raving Nazi according to our taxpayer grifted journalists. $600 Million buys a lot of favourable press to re-elect a certified clown.

Good luck Canada, yer gonna need it in spades!

    Cheers

Hans Rupprecht – Commander in Chief
    Army Group “True North”
    1st Saint Nicolaas Army

  23. You all know where I stand!

I will be voting for the PPC for many reasons:

    Lower Taxes
    Less Immigration
    Smaller Government
    Fix Equalization
    End Supply Management
    End Official Multicultural Act
    End Capital Gains Tax
    Defund CBC
    Pull out of UN
    End Corporate Welfare
    Canadian Values
    No Political Correctness
    Free Speech
    Lib/Con cycle
    Common Sense
    #PPC2019

But to be honest I am voting PPC for a very selfish and very personal reason for I can finally vote again for a Political Party that are willing to have an open and honest discussions about abortions in our House of Parliament.

At least for now I can vote without the guilt of the insane madness that has been decreed by our governments to be descend from the principalities of hatred and death upon all mankind and to help stop Satan’s further destruction of my soul.

I remember my youth “Thou shalt not kill”

    1. The debate about balancing rights goes beyond abortion.

In Winnipeg Child & Family Services (Northwest Area) v. G . (D.F.), [I997], courts determined that a pregnant woman addicted to solvents could not be civilly committed for treatment to protect the unborn child from harm cuz her rights would be violated. The children are born with whatever developmental issues and you get to pick-up the tab.

The country needs to have this debate. But again, the politicians, on this issue as on so many others, would rather appease the Marxist rabble.

  24. We went through the same thing here in America. For 40 years, the Democrats held Congress, and
the Senate was in Democrat hands with the exception of 4 or 6 years in the same period. I don’t
know who is leading the polls in Canada or enough about the political system up North to opine.
Even if you end up with a Justin light, it would be preferable to the clown now infesting the office.

The Canadian people deserve better than Justin Trudeau (AKA Al Jolsen!) Good luck be with you.

  25. Let’s remember how evenly split the Conservative leadership vote was between Bernier and Scheer. Who knows how this still effects the Party. I’d hope a vote for the PPC would push the CPC to be more conservative but now it looks like Andy is keeping silent for fear of upsetting voters are not party members but still willing to vote out Justin. I don’t believe the claims made by the media or candidates that “it’s close” so stay away from ‘fringe’ parties. I bet there are enough young voters to elect Greta even if she’s not a citizen or member of a political party because “we’ve only got 12 years left”.

    1. Burgess, the CPC leadership election was only “close” in the points they awarded each candidate from each riding. Recall that CPC leadership elections aren’t one-person-one-vote; they’re by points from electoral districts. To date, the CPC has not released the actual vote totals of any of the candidates. I suspect that Bernier actually beat Scheer in votes but lost in points. Funny how leftists embrace one-person-one-vote when it profits them, then lurch to regional balancing to offset population densities when the profit shifts. If only we could get consistency here…

  26. My dear mom well up in her 80s confessed today that she is fed up with Scheer and is voting Max. This after defending Scheer since his elevation. When you start pissing off little old ladies you know that even if you win you will be fighting a rearguard battle your whole term in office.
