    1. One thing we can be sure of is that left wing socialist policies will destroy not just a province but an entire country.

  1. Columnist?

    it’s one guys biased opinion.

“Jim Rutkowski was the principal secretary to former Alberta premier Rachel Notley.”

    1. 5th Columnist. Economic MORON. Socialist mathematician (answer ALWAYS has a – ahead of every number).
This is one guy who should be seen, and NOT heard.

  2. Holy Christ in heaven! Who got tossed out on their collectivist a$$e$? The media has sure played it like the glorious, peoples, workers, students party is still the government.

We elected the UCP for this very reason. We spend more than any other province (per capita), even Quebec!!! I hope Kenney goes at the budget with a Samurai sword!

The reason we are in this state is that both the dippers and the PC caved to the constant and excessive demands for more, more, more from the unions (their wages not for actual service enhancement) The greediest bastards on this planet are socialist who want to do absolutely nothing and get paid more than anyone else to do it. No surprise on the dipper part as the unions actually own it.

      1. “Alberta elected a red to core tory government”

Give them a chance. Kenney seems way different from Red Ed and Alison the Red.

  3. When anybody starts using ‘American style’ as a perjorative I stop listening right about there, they have nothing useful to say.

  4. “a cult-like belief in the power of free markets and small government”… yeah, that’s crazy talk, real cult material…

  5. He should have said;

“I’m with the NDP and we’d like Alberta to be like Greece…broke, pensions destroyed, and endless bureaucracy.”

“But, we’ll also ensure it’s colder, since the electricity will only work when the sun is shining and the wind is blowing.”

  6. I graduated high school in Edmonton. The Edmonton Journal is the Toronto Star here.

It’s the LibCons federal government’s not getting pipelines built to a coastline so we can export Canadian oil and the crazy insane environmentalist including a NDP government that sealed the current downtrend.

    From Max and the PPC

The oil and gas industry has been for decades a major source of employment, government revenues, and economic well-being for all of Canada. It should be allowed to grow, export its products, and bring prosperity to our country.

    1. The Edmonton Journal is the Toronto Star here.

There’s a reason we nickname it the Edmonton Urinal.

I used to read that fishwrap until a few years ago when it went all in for Red Rachel the Rotten.

    2. “The Edmonton Journal is the Toronto Star here.”

You say that like you just discovered SDA. You have no new information. Get the Feck Out Queerbecer. Real Albertans already know.

  7. “…the novice government quickly earned its place as one of Alberta’s great reforming and modernizing governments, rivalling that of Peter Lougheed’s in the 1970s.”

Lougheed’s task, as a “progressive conservative,” was to drag Alberta back to what central Canada considered Alberta’s rightful place, viz. under Ottawa’s and Bay Street’s thumb.

The last great modernizing and reforming government Alberta had was elected in 1935. Nobody in a position to do anything about it wanted a reformed, modernized financial system that would have made the Great Depression impossible—much less a national dividend to be paid out to the peoples of the western world as their birthright, or a world where everything technologically possible and morally right was financially possible.

What they wanted, and still want, is for all of us to live as debt-peons in vast urban warrens, unable to even dream of owning anything, until technology advances enough to make it feasible to empty the warrens and haul us off to gas chambers—all to ensure a life of wealth, idleness and depravity for a few thousand erstwhile citizens of nowhere become lords of all.

    1. Typical failed socialist, believing their own headlines, like sniffing ones own farts and thinking its perfume

  8. Cut, cut, cut. When you think you’ve cut way too much…cut some more Mr. Kenney. Send these commies back to BC, Ottawa, and whatever other holes Notley drug them out of to come and destroy Alberta. If you don’t, they will still be hanging around to vote when the next election time rolls around. Food for thought.

    1. My thoughts mirrored.

First, Fire the 81,000 trough feeders Notley hired. For the Rest, a minimum 10% cut in wages & benefits….Any Management hired by Rachel, adios MoFo’s.

Then Start talking with some seriousness about sending our product to Alaska. 2-3 42″ X80 pipelines to tie into their Trans Alaska Pipeline system …. Directly to Valdez. The only real alternative to BC, a year round open – deep water port that can handle ULCC tankers to wherever & whomever wants it….
I’m pretty sure NWT and the Yukon would have no issue with us putting some pipe through a bit of their land.

Fk the East, BC and the Communists.

      1. “NWT & Yukon would have no issue…”
You have an optimism that I find very curious and unsettling. The Territories are full of rent-seeking First-Nations who would be dying to hold any project hostage. You currently can’t get a medium-sized mine approved in any corner of Yukon, much less a 1000km-long pipeline.

  9. Tar meet feathers. What absolute crap journalism blowing sunshine up socialism’s arse but what would most Albertans not living in Edmonton expect?

  10. The really short answer to the posed question is … No.

I’ll also say this: except for the mind boggling decision of its leadership to kneecap the Wildrose, there is every chance that they would have become government in 2015 and there would be no NDP dweeb around to ask his question.

  11. “Changing” Alberta, huh?

I’m having trouble selling some of my late father’s machine tools because of the shenanigans of Rachel the Rotten and HRH Prinz Dummkopf von Schwarzesgesicht.

Cut away, Mr. Kenney and don’t stop until every last leftie civil servant has to draw pogey.

      1. Thanks.

Each time I go to the house I inherited, I pass by a Ritchie Brothers yard, whether it’s the one in Nisku as I take the bus to the airport or the one outside Grande Prairie if I drive. There’s always a lot of equipment up for auction. Some of it is from companies that have gone belly up.

It’s now so bad in Alberta that I’ve heard that a number of oil-related firms are no longer listed on the TSX. One drilling company I own shares in got hammered when the Dippers took over. Today, for unknown reasons, it really got clobbered.

        1. Maybe because its dawning on many people, with 3 weeks to go, that a minority Liberal propped up by Meethead, or by Lizard (less likely) will be the end of TM pipeline, and all pipelines for the foreseeable future, no matter the cost to our economy, lifestyle, taxes and deficits. The total collapse of the western economy is at hand, the resource economy of both BC (forestry) and Alberta, thanks to leftwing governments bent on destroying those Deplorables that destroy trees, rocks and icky stuff from the ground
Here’s to the crash and burn! (yes, I am sympathetic to my Alberta friends, but the damage, unfortunately, is done)

          1. Voting for Max will deliver 5 to 10 very close Cons-Lib battleground seats to the Liberals, thus denying any chance for a Conservative majority.

Think very carefully before voting day.

We in Alberta were sick of the Prentice/Redford Red Tories and were determined to send a protest vote. We got an accidental NDP government.

            Don’t play with fire.

  12. This NDP operative wasted little time in framing the political landscape so that anyone in favour of a mixed economy with the public sector responsible for or limited to less than 50% of the GDP is demonically right wing, American, Hitleresque, etc. The arrogant prick does know however that under the PCs, Alberta never needed an actual NDP government because in terms of spending and cronyism, they were already there, but they made it worse as only the NDP is thus qualified. So it will be interesting to see how much squealing comes from the non-institutionally leftist sectors, hopefully none and in its place, cheering. We need to see Edmonton’s real estate situation more like Calgary’s. Shrink Government everywhere.

  13. Regular Albertans had their say, it was clear and massive.
    The socialist extremists are out.
Depending on how the conservatives deal with the unions, global warming and other socialist nonsense, they maybe in for a long haul.
And then you have the media cartel that likes to masturbate the feeble minds with conservative cut this or that. Conservatives don’t pay attention to the LGBxyz, and other such nonsense.
It has already started, every day the Calgary paper brings a sob story of all these hard done by people that sounds as though its the whole population.

  14. All one needs to remember about the AB NDP ‘broadway flop’ is the driver examiner debacle based on a knee jerk reaction to Humbolt.
12 weeks booked solid in most offices. 30,000 tests behind where the NDP estimated. Govt employees who get paid to drive to and from Registry offices; so they don’t start testing til 10 a.m. = 5 tests per day maximum. Revenue plummets. And on and on and on.
Yes some 1,2,3 driver schools and examiners were breaking the law. And previous PC govts ignored the pleas of schools and examiners to investigate. It was an opportunity for the NDP to increase the public sector. And in retrospect, a big middle finger schmauz left for the UCP.
This is the perfect debacle for anybody to realize the NDP is all about every service being govt run. And H E double hockey sticks with logic and business acumen.
So…..no thanks to anything this twat thinks the NDP did that was good. When you don’t feed your family by working in the real world your opinion is tainted and worth very little.

    1. This is a subject I could rant incomprehensibly for DAYS about. Anyone who thinks that where the examiners paycheques come from was the big problem or that everything was sunshine, rainbows and golden on the roads back in the good old days is an idiot.

    2. The NDP had a good point about driver examiners. Back in the day most people passed the 1st time and almost all by the 2nd. Some small town examiners forced people to pay for 4, 5, or even 6 exams. Flunking kids was money in their pocket and greed took over.

      1. I hope you have evidence of this accusation. I know it did not happen in my town. Sadly it was like dealing with parents in sports or school. The one beautiful thing to come from this debacle are the tablets which record the tests. It’s putting a sock in the complaints…..because the complaints are mostly hooey.
There are bad apples in every industry. If previous govts had implemented suggestions from private examiners it would have made a big difference to the nefarious actions of a few. Inaction by govt is no justification for govt seizure of an industry.

        1. Seizure of an industry? Driver examiners is a bullshit industry. All privatization did was give people an opportunity to milk the cow. Alberta tests are 5 times what other provinces charged. There is simply nothing to be gained by privatization. And I believe government should never be in business but this is not a business. Businesses compete.

          1. The fact that our town’s private examiner charged less than than the big town and city to our north is not competition?
It sounds like you base your opinion on hearsay. Maybe not….but your words are ones I hear from the public who don’t know or understand.
Other provinces charge less for testing but make it up in govt insurance. Or registration/license fees. Assuming you have the whole story doesn’t help the industry or those (many family run) who run Registry offices.

  15. Anytime someone says “…race-to-the bottom economic and social policy…” they’re revealed as a Communist thug aching to stomp on some faces. It’s not like this kind of parasite can be debated or reasoned with, they’re fanatics.

  16. The only reason they attained power was a split vote and voter apathy. They won with the support of about 20% of eligible voters. Unfortunately under our system you end up with a dictatorship for 4 years. It’s a mistake I doubt will be forgotten that soon. Should Trudeau maintain power (likely) within 2 years seperation may be on the table. The anger in the West is being grossly underestimated.

    1. ” Should Trudeau maintain power (likely) within 2 years seperation may be on the table. The anger in the West is being grossly underestimated.”

It does not matter how angry people get. If they don’t have a leader to channel that anger nothing political happens.
You just get individuals here and there committing crimes out of anger and these actions lead nowhere.
For the last couple of years crime is up in Alberta and that is just normal human behavior when people have no hope.
Jason Kenney is doing nothing to give people hope.

  17. My comment is unprintable in polite company. WAFT. Yet another example of how disconnected they are from reality. Red Ed, Redfraud, Red Rachel, and this guy…birds of a feather.

    1. Goofs like that are Bernie Bros, etc. They are busy fighting mythical beings, “THE RICH” as they are their sworn enemy and responsible for everything wrong with the world. Problem is, eat the rich, what are they going to eat when the rich are gone? They still havent figured that out, despite the example of Venezuela staring them in the face

  18. Like a dog that has just lost a fight, we hear little whimpers and snarls from under the deck. The silliest piece I’ve read in a long time.

  19. Yes, this article is garbage special pleading by an NDP partisan. What’s important about it, however, is that is part of a pattern – the NDP is now holding “budgetary hearings” across Alberta (something I never saw while they held power) in preparation for the first Kenny budget. That budget is to be “informed” by the MacKinnon Report, but that report is itself a trap for the UCP in that it recommends a range of politically stupid and fiscally counter- productive “cuts” and actions.

More than week ago now I sent Kate an email asking her to discuss this report on SDA – now answer, but maybe now?

  20. “It’s less the heir of Peter Lougheed’s than it is of Barry Goldwater’s”

What they really meant to say was Adolf Hitler but even lunatic leftists, other than the US House Democrats, are beginning to see that going overboard turns voters off.

  21. ummm actually no ms notley fan club president.
there are NOT a plethora of flavours of conservatism, unlike leftoidism.
