    – Who controls the gun controllers? –

    In the wake of another round of gun incidents and mass shootings both in Canada and the United States, the issue of gun control and prohibition has inevitably raised its irrational refrain.

    For decades, statistics from numerous jurisdictions have repeatedly revealed that gun crimes are highest in ‘gun controlled’ jurisdictions. When the controls are ended or reduced, gun crime rates are reduced. Yet these facts are not considered by those who see some form of ‘gun control’ or prohibition as a preventative solution to mass shootings or gang violence.

    Instead, those gunning for guns have chosen to attack our fundamental freedoms as the means to solving the problem of gun violence. From attacks on free speech to blaming video games, mental illness, and the guns themselves, the futility of pursuing such measures should be self-evident in light of the evidence.

    Sadly, the realities of gun ownership in a free society are rarely discussed or raised in the gun debate. Myths abound, such as the false belief that the United States ranks highest in gun crimes and violence. Few are aware that guns in the United States have been used to prevent far more crimes than are committed. And gun control advocates routinely ignore the reality that banning guns only punishes and controls law abiding citizens, while empowering the criminals who themselves ignore all gun prohibitions and restrictions.

    In the process of banning guns, it is forgotten that guns are required to accomplish this very goal. It is also forgotten that government itself is a ‘gun’ and must resort to using the same weapons that are being objected to. So in the final analysis, the question is not about banning guns per se, but about ‘who’ gets to control the guns.

    The belief that legally prohibiting the use and possession of guns will reduce gun violence is illusory. On the contrary, it has been consistently demonstrated that state gun controls unleash more violence, not less. It’s time for politicians to stop catering to ignorance and fear, and make gun law decisions that are Just Right for the safety, security, and freedom of all.

  7. It appears the only way Boris Johnson can prevent English Remoaner and Scottish separatists from sabotaging Brexit is to prorogue Parliament until after October 31.

    Needless to say, the Remoaners and seoaratists consider this an affront to what they believe democracy to be, viz. force people to vote until they agree to give the globalists what they want.

    The United Kingdom is leaving the EU on October 31, as was demanded by the overwhelming majority of the British people, whether the globalists like it or not.

    Nothing will be resolved before Oct. 21st, and as more details emerge the import economic/political issues will continue to gain traction in Western countries.   13. We recently bought a block beater in Florida in probably one of the last true laid-back beach towns left in the country. We’ve only managed to spend less than three weeks here trying to get things presentable due to obligations at home and with the parents on the west coast. Neighbors stroll over whenever we’re spotted to the extent we know more people here in a few days than we know at home in 25 years. Invited to “happy hour” at one neighbor’s last night, I was braced to be on good behavior since these folks are east coastals from the DC area. I was stunned when the Republican governor was praised for his environmental action in the state. Then, and I’m usually the hothead in this relationship, imagine my surprise when an extended shouting match takes place between my husband and the wife about gun control. By the time I had extricated myself from the bathroom, they had already moved onto different topics, and all was calm. I decided to cool everyone’s jets anyway and preserve the friendship by heading home while we were all copacetic. The couple persuaded us to stay. I guess there’s still room for competing views without permanent acrimony at least on a limited basis.

Maybe they can also discuss the growing scandal of a female Quebec Liberal MP being dumped by Justin. It seems Groper has a pattern of trashing his women MPs.

    3. I noticed that the dumped MP, Eva Nassif, immigrated with her family in the 1980s.
      I wonder if she is a Christian, (many who came over when her family did, were Christians, due to the sectarian warfare at the time.)
      The CPC candidate in the riding is Rima El-Helou, a more recent immigrant from Lebanon, she belongs to a group called the Maronite Circle, a Christian organization.
      The NDP candidate is Vassif Aliyev, “Vassif is a member of the Canadian Armed Forces and belongs to the 4th Battalion, Royal 22e Régiment. ” per the candidate’s website.

      Is the new LPC candidate going to be someone to challenge Aliyev based on religious/ethnic background? (The NDP candidate ran 2nd in the last election.)
      Or is it an age issue, Eva Nassif is considerably older than the other two candidates.
      Or is Trudeau going to insert a friend in the riding. Just because he can.

  17. Just watched the Unifor journalists on CBC’s political scrum. Themes were Trump is CRAZY. He is destroying the world economy and picking on poor peace loving China. But Justin is doing a wonderful job on the world stage. Then it was the foreign affairs speech Justin gave. Justin is wonderful, Harper is evil. Then of course a discussion on how Hitler Scheer is homophobic and only Justin can save us. The CBC reminds everyone not to be a Trump, homophobic, Harper loving, Nazi Scheer. Join Team Trudeau.
