Y2Kyoto: Google Summer Camp

Rex Murphy;

The hypocrisy of politicians is as a bead of sand, a pimple in the shadow of Everest compared to the hollow, fake piety of the mega rich and famous gospellers of global warming.

Those howling loudest at people to use public transport — “for the planet’s sake” — should not, per exemplum, own $400-million yachts, travel themselves by private jet, have a dozen vast mansions in a dozen countries, and hold suppers that cost $100,000 in ancient Greek temples. But they do.

  1. IMAGINE-Truth or fiction – someone actually elects a wannabe to be Prime Ministerand 60% of the people can’t see it.

  2. Rex Murphy quotes Matthew 23 in the King James Version. I like Stern’s Complete Jewish Bible better. Jesus’ words come across as they should be, i.e., blunt and to the point:

“Woe to you hypocritical Torah-teachers and P’rushim! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look fine on the outside but inside are full of dead people’s bones and all kinds of rottenness. Likewise, you appear to people from the outside to be good and honest, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and far from Torah.”
    – Matthew 23 (CJB)

Second, if Leo DiCaprio and Prince Harry gave a rat’s behind that they’re coming across as hypocritical, I’d be surprised.

    1. Jesus repeats that point again and again in the passage.
His fate from that insult illustrates what happens to anyone challenging establishment doctrine and privilege nowadays.
The Pharisees were the politically correct of their time, living off the avails of the poor, again as now.
Rex’s most cogent point is that the beautiful people are jet setting around to convince poor people to reduce their footprint.
That is the essence of the effect: middle incomers absorb two or three cent increases in fuel into their massive consumption.
The working poor or those evil self-employed trades are having to alter their lifestyles to please the neo regents.
Of course the beauteous are immune from the catastrophic results of their abject ignorance of mathematics and science.
Unfortunately the peasants have noticed and the middle incomers have stopped hugging trees to again grab their wallets.
In the real world any politician who repudiates the “Paris Accords” would be honoured with a hero’s parade.
That person would save our country from an economic insult and crushing of productivity and our standard of living.
It’s all BS, the voters know it to some extent, but think all politicians are “the same” so cynicism is high.
They’ll probably take the easy way out and re-elect cabin boy and his band of pirates, to save jobs of course.

    2. I used to have respect for Prince Harry because he flew helicopters in Afghanistan. Then he married that SJW what’s-her-name and it seems like his brains have taken a permanent vacation.

  3. “The hypocrisy of politicians is as a bead of sand, a pimple in the shadow of Everest compared to the hollow, fake piety of the mega rich and famous gospellers of global warming.”

Rex is truly an artisan of the English language who’s creations often remind me of one of the more memorable lines from Blazing Saddles…

“You use your tongue prettier than a 20 dollar whore!”

  4. If the hypocrites wanted to make the world a better place, they could start by liquidating their assets and donating the net worth as a gift to pay down the debts of national governments—debts mostly racked up to pay for their sins in the first place.

There is no point insisting that they then go serve Jesus Christ. I’ll settle for their blowing their own brains out, reducing their carbon footprint to zero if that really means anything to them.

  5. They don’t think they’re hypocrites. They truly believe they are special and that the “rules” don’t apply to them. So many stupid proles fawn over these assholes, who can blame them? Millions adore or admire or follow or contribute to these f**khole’s fame and fortune. As one example, I use google at work, so I contribute as well.
I don’t even think the Karma Police can touch them.

Look at PM Dickspank Trudeau. He takes 10 flights a week on average X 175 weeks plus or minus of being in power. Millions of unsatisfied, fat-assed, urban women and nutless, weakling, urban “men” will vote for him and swear that Juthtin’s ‘footprint’ is for OUR future. Its delusional.

    1. This is a new Gilded Age. These people actually believe that shows like Downton Abbey and Upstairs, Downstairs aren’t fiction and should be used as guides for them to live by.

As an aside, I thought that DA was a dreadful series, particularly after Shirley Maclaine–another fruitloop, but that’s another story–appeared in some episodes. I stopped watching after that.

As for UD, it’s supposed follow-up series was complete rubbish. Someone tried to cash in on the name and, thankfully, it didn’t last long. The original, however, was a work of genius, a masterpiece of TV drama.

  6. You mean Groper and Climate Barbie haven’t flown there in his government jet? I guess he is to busy on his Ford is Hitler tour.

  7. DiCaprio has very big Carbon Footprint claims by rejecting Global Warming /Climate Change were rejecting the Truth and from some Hollywood hasbeen who’s career its playing big game of LETS PRETEND and flying in aboard their Private Jets to set up for the New World Order then John Travolta owns a 707 and Robert Redford have done ads for Eco-wacko Groups while doing ads for United Airlines Their Hypocricy stands out like Polar Bear in a grassy Meadow

  8. “Never underestimate man’s ability to explain away… anything.”
    Chuck Colson

  9. Unsurprising hypocrisy ostentatiously displayed by the special humans. I am disappointed even more to notice the promotion in the readers tips below of the new Tarantino flick starring that smug puke DiCaprio. And don’t get me going on the Martin guitar. I will play a sad song on my D16 today.

  10. I don’t know why the NP employs this guy. Rex is uninsightful even when he’s right. He’s just another ‘yelling at clouds’ columnist that must have gotten lost on his way to The Sun.

    1. “I don’t know why the NP employs this guy”

People read his columns. Looks like you did too.

But perhaps you prefer the drivel that comes out praising our Dear Leader in Katie Telford’s op-eds?

Or is Margaret Atwood your style?

    2. That’s high praise if it comes from you. Thanks for more no-content criticism.
NP employs him for the same reason they don’t employ you, depth of knowledge, real life experience and common sense.

        1. It’s your responsibility to deal with your ignorance and poor comprehension. Others shouldn’t have to do it for you.
Could someone read the column to you, very slowly? Did you know insight is knowledge? No, for obvious reasons?

    3. It sounds to me like you’re saying you can’t disagree even a little bit with Rex’s opinion expressed in this column, but you just can’t not criticize him for something, anything. You really are rather pathetic.

  11. Hypocrisy amongst the elite is one thing. Governments, however, have used the Climate Change siren song from elites to increase taxes.

As I’ve written before, BC has a 128% carbon tax on domestic natural gas.

Those monies come out of the pockets of less wealthy people, go into the coffers of the BC government, and pop out as “incentives” for more wealthy people – like Andrew Weaver, MLA and the leader of the BC Green Party – to buy an electric vehicle.

The current BC government is a minority government and only holds onto power because of Andrew Weaver.

    1. Crazy part is, Weaver is actually hold the government back from doing its worst. He’s apparently the reason Horgan hasn’t scuttled secret ballots for unionization.

  12. The “gliterati” have only one concern that THEIR lives may be impacted by the hoi poloi’s consumption of carbon based energy sources. The hoi poloi should have less, while the “gliterati” should have more; is their only concern.

    @Rex:
What pray tell is the point of quoting the gospel to these “climate gliterati”?

If indeed, “ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones” then like their rented Temple to Hera, ironically the goddess of childbirth, they will accompany Charon the ferryman across the river Styx into their eternal abode of Hades.

Shake the dust from your feet, and make haste in the opposite direction; no one is going to save the already dead.

The only thing these climate clods have forgotten is the burnt sacrifice of children to the god Molech; which the abortionists are working on feverishly.

And so what if the CO2 concentration goes up 25 times present levels, then the gliterati will just have to run faster than the returning dinosaurs?

    http://www.biocab.org/carbon_dioxide_geological_timescale.html

“Allow me to clarify that most of the claims regarding catastrophic climate change filling the newspapers are overblown and based on data that is being arbitrarily exaggerated to blame humanity for climatic changes which are absolutely natural.”

Thus we can say with some considerable certainty that the climate “gliterati” are for all their conspicuous wealth and affluence, scientific illiterates.

    Cheers

  13. Why blame the Carney Barkers, the people that believe that WE humans can/have control of Natures shear Power are delusional…What power of Nature do we claim to control…Morons

The silly folks that want a New Global Order need to look behind the curtain… There is only ONE Country that is capable of World domination, and its not Russia or China… Stupid is a stupid does… My kids will enjoy their earned privilege…..

  14. To be fair the pm is buying CO2 credits. The problem is that he wants to use our money to do it. As we used to be a prosperous country that pays for a lot of flying around doing nothing except being egotistical.

  15. You’d think these guys, who hire world class PR firms and personal publicists, would understand the awful optics of these gatherings. They must know this so the only rational explanation is that they don’t care that they looks like hypocritical aristocrats with a “do as I say, not as I do” arrogance

Next time at least yacht-pool or plane-share. I doubt any of their solutions will include massive, escalating taxes on mega yachts and mansions or banning private airplanes. Probably no comments about the importance of themselves being a role model and personal sacrificing by decreasing their carbon footprint down to the size of the average citizen.

I wonder how many of them are taking this opportunity to do some brainstorming and idea-sharing about how to move themselves and their assets to non-extradition countries because of the Epstein arrest.

  16. The ego feels really good when it thinks it is important.

The majority of these rich socialites do not care about the concept of global warming.

Their egos get stroked when they see themselves as fully-qualified members of the world’s elite. Although they are indifferent to the idea of global warming, they find it infinitely rewarding to take the Lear or the Gulfstream or even the 737 around the world for fraternization with the other Masters of the Universe.

Today it is global warming. Tomorrow the pretext might be admission to an exclusive, fancy nightclub that restricts who it lets in.

The “global warming” PR campaign simply gives them justification to affirm that they are in with the in-crowd.

You realize that these socialites basically live for being invited to high-society parties. They don’t need money, so they calculate their worth by what parties some heiress has invited them to. This is why we are all so puzzled when we see them contradicting their own contentions as they fly in private planes jetting to some paradise where they can hang out and affirm in the moment how wonderful they are.

    1. Since they’re in Greece, someone should convince them that hemlock goes great with souvlaki. A rare, exclusive A-list delicacy. It’s to die for, daaaahling 🙂

The world would be a better place with less authoritarian scolds and pretentious peacocks. I’m sure most of them advocate for population control.

  17. The Apocalyptic Climate Change narrative needs two things:
    (a) Parasites, whose survival depends on
    (b) fools

  18. C.S. Lewis presaged the woke mindset perfectly when in 1949 he wrote:
“Of all the tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely
exercised for the good of its victims may be
the most oppressive. It may be better to live
under robber barons than under the
    omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber
baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his
cupidity may at some point be satiated; but
those who torment us for our own good will
torment us without end, for they do so with
the approval of their own conscience.”
