  1. Report Everyone of the SJW Bullies for everything. Clog the system with minutia. Cloward Piven the California University System and hopefully the entire State.

  2. Telling joke is not Christian or civil, so why should people doing so not be punished?

    1. I’ll give you the jokes for prosecution when you agree the following should also be prosecuted:
      1) killing babies
      2) knocking off old or sick people
      3) not just legalising drugs, but telling them it’s ok
      4) stealing my stuff just because the majority think it’s OK (i.e. socialism)
      5) perverting children by telling them life is about sex, only about sex
      6) abusing children by telling them their confusion means they should go under the knife and take drugs
      7) have a multi class justice, medical, social system that first looks at your victim class before any other fact
      8) corrupt politicans and bureaucrats
      9) mafia corporations (like google, facebook, etc)
      10) people who take offense and want to persecute someone for telling a joke

In other words, in a sane world we’d solve real problems and leave the damn jokes alone.

      1. FF77, I will add one more. Character assassination of a President. Libel and slander laws should apply.

    2. Here in the United States, we have an amendment to our constitution that states, among other things, that “Congress shall make no law . . . abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press”. Over the years, the U.S. Supreme Court has held that this prohibition applies to the states, including public universities. As a side note, thanks to a bill passed by the California legislature a few decades ago (usually referred to as the Leonard law, probably because it was sponsored by somebody whose surname is or was “Leonard”), this applies to private universities, as well (there may be an exception for strongly religiously-affiliated universities). It may be “wrong” in some metaphysical sense, but it isn’t wrong in a legal sense.

    3. So where does this offending end and who determines the level of offense? Do you want a nation where people are afraid to even confide in their spouse? As that where this will end. Some of us have been there or have had families that have been there. It does not end well.

      1. The Bolsheviks are here.

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?… The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If…if…We didn’t love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation…. We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”

    1. The San Andres fault system represents two continental plates sliding past each other. Due to friction, pressure builds up in the plates over time until the friction is overcome and plates slide, to a maximum distance of about 7 m. Such a distance would represent a magnitude 8 earth quake – very rare in this region (1 in 100 year events).

A magnitude 8 earthquake would release about 30 times more energy than the 7.1 recorded a few days ago. Luckily there is little infrastructure directly nearby the San Andres so it likely won’t make “the big one”.

Earthquakes larger than magnitude 8 are limited to subduction zones where one plate is sliding under another. These are catastrophic. Quite a distance offshore from California is the Cascadia subduction zone where the Juan de Fuca plate is sliding under the North American continental plate. This fault zone has been very quite for hundreds of years and is located far offshore. Any earthquake under California would be quite deep and not destructive.

It is far more likely that California cities will die a slow death piled deep in human waste and hypodermic needles than a catastrophic earthquake. Still, it’s fun to pray.

      1. “But the quake is only the beginning.

Hundreds of fires start, and with roads blocked and the water system damaged, emergency personnel aren’t be able to put them all out. Smaller fires merge into larger ones, taking out whole sections of Los Angeles.”

“Overall, such a quake would cause some $200 billion in damage, 50,000 injuries and 2,000 deaths, the researchers estimated. But “it’s not so much about dying in the earthquake. It’s about being miserable after the earthquake and people giving up on Southern California,” says Jones. Everything a city relies on to function—water, electricity, sewage systems, telecommunications, roads—would be damaged and possibly not repaired for more than a year. Without functioning infrastructure, the local economy could easily collapse, and people would abandon Los Angeles.”

        1. What is really funny is the fact that 60% of Californians heat their homes, heat their water & cook with natural gas. This will be the cause of the hundreds of fires. Then there are the several refineries along the coast that produce gasoline and diesel. They could catch fire. California could eliminate this threat by making fossil fuels illegal and switching to renewable energy like wind and solar. I wonder why they haven’t bothered when fossil fuels pose so much danger?

          1. Natural gas lines are designed to shutdown in an emergency. The natural gas safety systems seemed to work in San Bernadino. But, yes, it would likely be a fiery inferno in LA or other large city from other ignition sources. Very difficult to control fire when roads are impassable to fire and rescue crews. It will be a huge tragedy.

      2. A Crack in the Edge of the World by Simon Winchester is a good read on the 1906 San Fran earthquake. If I recall correctly, he wrote that there IS serious trouble for Cali cities due to the build-up of pressure between plates.

    2. As far as Kate’s question of “too soon?” is concerned … NO. It’s not too soon for a complete implosion of the nutjobs running all of CA’s Institutions. If God needs to intervene … tectonically … so be it. My home is up to current eq codes, and sits well above sea level … so I am ready for the risk.

  3. Zealots don’t have a sense of humor.

Does anyone still remember when liberals were cool, edgy and fun loving. They are now way worse than an old fashioned church lady. Liberals are the morality police roaming the workplace, schools and internet searching high and low for transgressions:

You can’t say that. You can’t wear that. You can’t write that book. You can’t make that art. You can’t tell that joke. You can’t make and sell that food. You can’t have that opinion. You shouldn’t eat that. You can’t listen to that speaker. You shouldn’t drink that. You can’t associate with those people. Races should be segregated. Your house is too big. You earn too much. You have the wrong type of vehicle. Your plastic cutlery and straws are destroying life on this planet. On and on they go.

You can’t have unapproved, untaxed, unregulated and increasingly unpunished fun with liberal or progressive squares around. Maybe it’s a disease. ABS Disorder – Always Be Scolding.

  4. The SCOTUS has ruled that students in a public university have the full protection of the 1st amendment, and yes this applies to student residence rules. Further, there is a California statute that protectes freedom of speech even in private universities.

There are limits. They may not interfere with the normal functioning of the university, and all other legal strictures apply regarding fraud, defamation, perjury, and so on. But insulting someone, so long as it is not so ornerous and persistent that it rises to harassement, is protected speech.

    1. So does this mean it is illegal to make sexual jokes about Donald Trump on some US campuses now?

      1. No, that still falls under “the normal functioning of the university”.

  5. Not to promote bullies and assholes, but when weaklings are protected the gene pool is weakened.

  6. So what?

People complain about socialism, then they say things like “Alberta should setup it’s own pension plan, Alberta should setup it’s own old age security plan”.

Government never has and never will care for you.
Government never has and never will care about you.
Government 3000 miles away is the same as government down the block.
Government is about one thing, and one thing only; GOVERNMENT.

The only thing that matters to government is growing, and protecting itself from you.
The only thing that matters is gathering power, and holding onto it.
The only thing that matters is making mindless slaves of the citizens through dependency pogroms.

University helps governerment, so tough luck.

  7. Isn’t it interesting how morality goes around?
In earlier times, people behaved quite decent. It can also be said that depravity was not broadcast, so to say, and offensive talk and behaviour were looked down upon.
Then came the late 60’s of the past century and the “in” crowd thought that they needed to break down the morality and go free for all sex, booze and rock & roll.
Perhaps not unexpected during certain events, the bacchanalia and other such happenings.

There was a movie, don’t remember which, it apparently forgettable, where the grown ups were nihilistically telling and teaching the under teens that swearing was cool.
For a long time things in this sense went down hill, so to say.
The feminazis insisted that they were ignored and got the media cartel to help them with some publicity, They wanted to have sex, booze and rock&roll on their terms.
    OK.
Then in the new century they found out that they went overboard. They still wanted the three though begun to feel uncomfortable with what they had done.
As it is with all the ‘ists, they could not admit their style was not conductive to real life.
They got rid of God and insisted that everyone else does the same.
They got lost in the wilderness and had no idea what the hell to do.
So, they got into the institutions and government to stop what they started in earlier times.
In this way they can just leave their meme alone and shift the burden of acceptable behavior to the big brother.
Talking stupid, while not the optimum, is not a criminal activity.
However stupid this may sound, everyone has a definite right to be stupid.
Being stupid to one, is something else alltogether to another.
Just watch the popular culture, its practically the way of life there.

  8. No fun for anyone! Fun is strictly prohibited except during the hour of 4PM where it will be strictly regulated and monitored in a Fun Zone by proctors and everyone will be required to ask permission to joke and give affirmations of funniness and enjoyment. Safe spaces and councelors will be standing by.

Has anyone checked to see if Steely Dan is playing at Annandale?

  9. It’s amazing how colleges and universities have gone from the bastions of free speech and thought to some of the most Orwellian despotic organizations in the west. And in such a short period of time. The Quickening?

    1. In any club, political, religious or activists organization the authoritarians will eventually take over. The only exceptions are groups that explicitly promote classic libertarian and/or humanist principles. Even then we see groups like ACLU parrot the anti-free speech and anti-individual freedom of liberals and progressives. Now STEM has been forced into compliance creating huge areas of forbidden and censored research. The zeitgeist of our age, I suppose.

Given the financial , cultural and academic dysfunctional and oppressive environment in the area controlled almost completely by liberals and progressives -universities- who in their right mind would want the rest of society to emulate that path. It’s like inviting in The Inquisition after you’ve seen their handiwork.

      1. That is called the Iron Law of Bureaucracy.

        https://www.jerrypournelle.com/reports/jerryp/iron.html

“Pournelle’s Iron Law of Bureaucracy states that in any bureaucratic organization there will be two kinds of people”:

First, there will be those who are devoted to the goals of the organization. Examples are dedicated classroom teachers in an educational bureaucracy, many of the engineers and launch technicians and scientists at NASA, even some agricultural scientists and advisors in the former Soviet Union collective farming administration.

Secondly, there will be those dedicated to the organization itself. Examples are many of the administrators in the education system, many professors of education, many teachers union officials, much of the NASA headquarters staff, etc.

The Iron Law states that in every case the second group will gain and keep control of the organization. It will write the rules, and control promotions within the organization.”

  10. From the comments and so apt. “A Feminist, an Antifa Activist, and a journalist walk into a Trump rally. . .”

The left wants a nation of whisperers.

    1. “The fascists of the future will call themselves anti-fascists”
                 – Winston Churchill

  11. When you have eliminated critical thinking from a so-called institution of higher learning, you are developing a client base of drones incapable of dealing with discovery and controversy. The humorless left run these institutions and they are becoming prep schools for future authoritarian looters and thugs.
