  1. First of all. Happy Independence Day to our American friends. May you stay free.

Poor Betsy Ross. Now the left want to replace her with Alexandra Kollontai?

For decades climate alarmists have been making scary predictions they insist we must act on before waiting to see if they’re accurate. But in the first video in our “Crystal Ball Check” series, we examine Canadian government predictions from a 2001 “Canada Action Plan” mass mailing that should be happening by now if the science really is both “settled” and reliable. It’s not a pretty sight. So before believing the next set of warnings, ask them to explain why they got it so wrong last time.

          1. AHA……Nancy Ross is a distant relation to Betsy Ross…!

I knew this song came from somewhere!?!

            Danke! Nice song!
Betsy Ross was brave, if she would’ve been caught sewing that now famous flag, the British likely would’ve destroyed it, on the spot!
            ( I like to think we’re related… Ha!)

This following sounds similar to the song @ 1:24 – it is a beautiful song with subtitles, about brave men :

          3. Good idea. One wouldn’t want to be accused of cultural appropriation.

A book for students of the Revolutionary War is described in the following video. About 30,000 Hessians fought in the War, ~17,000 returned to Germany after the War, ~1200 died, ~6,500 became ill, ~5000 remained in North America or deserted. Some even came with their wives.

When I lived out in the Maritimes I was surprised how many people were of German descent. There were still many Clubs like the Daughters Of America that met on a regular basis. The local radio channels would announce the dates of the meetings etc.

I aim to find this book, it seems like an interesting read:

PS: excuse me, what is a good idea? Clothes from 1776?
            Ha!

          5. If I remember correctly, the original Tea Partiers dressed as Indians when they climbed on board the ships. Nowadays with anybody wearing anything that came from a different culture being considered offensive, there may be limits to how that event can be re-enacted at the Bow River.

          6. •@ 12:45
            Giggles and chuckling. Good one!
At 07:39 in the morning my brain was a little foggy yet, …was all over the place!

            Tks!

            You.

          1. Count me in – though would prefer “hard” tea or an equally appropriate beverage. Was down by the Bow during the flood of 2013 and there were a fair few cheering on the flood and hoping that particular bridge would go.

        1. And if you remember Woodstock, you were never there, as the saying goes.

I might have heard about it on the news, but it wasn’t until the documentary about it came out that I figured out what it was all about.

          1. The show was on TV all weekend – 24 hours. I do remember it because I wondered why that thing was still “on!” There was some appreciation of it but I didn’t really know ‘the music’ yet. THAT was a few years away.
I plan on watching my recording of the 3:48 hour show sometime. Hoping that a new 50 year anniversary show will be put together with a different take and maybe interviews of people who were there in person if not really ‘there’, there.

  2. If not for the revolution of 1776 I do not believe this world would ever have known individual liberty. Thank you America for nurturing, promoting and protecting freedom the world over for the past couple hundred years.
    GOD BLESS AMERICA!

  3. To all the Russian conspiracy theorists in the Democrat Party, they can have all the best from:

“Stars and Stripes Forever” march by John Philip Sousa

    Conductor – Mstislav Rostropovich
    (27/03/1927- 27/04/2007)
Grande of the Halls of Tchaikovsky Moscow Conservatory
    February 13, 1990

    From the comments:
    Jay McHue
In case anyone doesn’t know the story behind this performance (as I didn’t before today)…

This musician and conductor was persecuted by the Soviet Union for his views on democracy and freedoms of speech, art, and culture. He eventually fled the country to the U.S. in 1974 and was not welcomed back until 1990. This is the piece he proudly conducted with obvious relish in Moscow upon his return. And look how much the audience loves it!
    ………………………..
The Dems should be eating this up…!

    1. John Philip Sousa helped elect Trump? I guess the Mueller gang will have to resort to necromancy to get him to testify. However, considering how many dead people voted for the Democrats, using a ouija board to acquire impeachment evidence might not be so unusual.

  4. I would like to play a very, very un-pc song to celebrate our friends to the south Independence Day. Although she sang it to honour JFK following his death, I think it would absolutely send Democrats running to their safe spaces screaming about racism, Islamophobia, transphobia and what ever else upsets the poor dears so.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4Xz7WV_qJs

    1. “.. it would absolutely send Democrats running to their safe spaces”
You have that part right. What a stirring rendition c/w original lyrics!

“As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free,
      While God is marching on.”

  5. Deepest thanks to the USA for the continued freedom that we in the north enjoy.
To all the smug, ignorant Canadians who claim superiority to our protectors in the south, eat shit you neo-Marxist scumbags.

  6. A big, midwestern thank-you to all my Canadian friends here. We Americans couldn’t have better neighbors than you are, and I hope that you feel the same way about us.

  7. I post comments on the various Globe and Mail “comments sections”. The moribund newspaper is notoriously left-wing — the various writers and editors generally toe the Justin-Trudeau-Liberal line — and before the Canada-China fight the newspaper followed a pro-China policy. During the current Canada-China fight the newspaper naturally dropped its pro-China stance, toeing the Liberal government line.

What I am getting at is that the Globe and Mail, and other members of the pro-Liberal media cartel, while supporting Cansda’s side, haven’t really made concrete suggestions about how Canada should retaliate against China. This itself is not surprising, since the Rt. Hon. Trudeau hasn’t done anything against China, and our corporate media obediently follow Trudeau’s lead.

But the Globe and Mail’s comments section — save for a few Chinese trolls — is universally anti-China, and the various comments in the Globe are bubbling with concrete suggestions as to how Canada can strike back. My posts have been to suggest that Canadians stop buying Chinese-made consumer goods. And here I will add that Canada needs a grassroots conservative-led NGO to lead such a consumer boycott.

China is kicking sand in Canadians’ faces. What puzzles me is that there has been so little outrage — by the corporate media or by ordinary Canafians — against the China bullying. The spectacle of our timidity is breathtaking.

  8. From the WAPO via the NP.
“A black soldier fly larva can consume twice its weight in food each day. On its 14-day journey from hatchling to pupa, a single larva will grow nearly an inch long and increase its weight by a factor of 10,000. That’s akin to an eight-pound baby swelling to the size of a 40-ton humpback whale.”

  9. Happy 4th of July to our American friends ….celebrate your independence with joy .

  10. Thank you, Canadian conservatives, for your kind words on America’s Independence Day. That we’ve shared the longest unprotected border in the world for 243 years without conflict or crisis is unique in history….to the great benefit of each country. Hopefully today’s parade in Washington DC comes off OK. I believe Trump is trolling the left with this thing…..he’s forcing the Dems to condemn America and mock patriotism as well as showcase the Antifa brownshirts and their thuggery. Fun times. They say every time an elderly man with a MAGA hat gets beat down by Antifa thugs that Kamala Harris wins over another 100-200 Trump voters, right?? Guess we’ll see in Nov 2020.

    1. “That we’ve shared the longest unprotected border in the world for 243 years without conflict or crisis is unique in history…”

Er, make that 205 years – you’ve forgotten about that embarrassing War of 1812 business.

But never mind! Appreciate the sentiment and have a great Fourth of July!*

      * Never ones to miss the opportunity for a party, we are having a BBQ here this afternoon, featuring hot dogs, burgers, salsa and nachos and plenty of ice-cold American beer. I must say my favourite happy synchronicity occurs whenever Canada Day is on a Friday and Independence day follows on Monday. Two parties and a long weekend!

      1. A bit less than 205 years, given the Fenian Raids between April 1866 and October 1871 into what is now Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Manitoba.

        1. I had considered the Fenian Raids, but these actions weren’t conducted by the US government.

      2. I do like the fact our founding dates are so close.
still havent figured out the full significance, but I have found it a comforting thought.
        bravo, bravo America, BRAVO.

        1. I’m sure the fact that Confederation took place shortly after the American civil war was no coincidence. The latter conflict was taken quite seriously by Westminster and there may have been fears that the war might go beyond its borders, particularly since what is now Canada was a destination for the Underground Railroad. What would have happened if the Confederacy had won?

Keep in mind that the revolution had happened 3 or 4 generations earlier and the War of 1812 was likely still fresh in the memories of many people.

          1. “I’m sure the fact that Confederation took place shortly after the American civil war was no coincidence.”

It wasn’t. The Fathers of Confederation were well aware that the republic to the south had just emerged from its Civil War with a powerful, experienced army and navy.*

            * Though the US would soon disband most of it with almost unseemly haste.

          2. Similarly, the Revolutionary War (1775-1783) followed the French and Indian War (1754-1763) with only 12 years between the end of one and the beginning of the other.

George Washington was waiting in the wings…he said in 1775:
“It will be my humble duty to serve”…

      1. That’s been the New Brunswick way for years. Still remember being taken aback when – back in the day – happened to mention the re-election of an NB premier to a co-worker from there and got the response to the effect of “he’s got his so should be reasonably decent government”. Also heard tell that a lot of government contracts were cancelled and moved when there was a change of government there.

  11. Happy day, neighbours! I hope you enjoy in as big and loud of a celebration as you want. As free people can.

  12. 3 of my 4 grandparents came from the USA. My forebearers fought in the Indian Wars, the Revolution, War of 1812, Civil War, WW 1, and WW 2. To any who suggest that Americans are anything less than our greatest allies, grow up.
Not unlike Canada, the USA is under attack by communists being directed from abroad. Many of those people operate within the Democratic Party. Another McCarthy is long overdue.

If Americans want to see their future they should look north. A once proud country that fought far above its weight in WW II has been reduced to a majority of supplicants looking for the next handout. Government is the tit of choice here now, not individual initiative. Progressives here in Canada actually attack those with any form of independence.

So, my American friends, enjoy your Independence Day. I hope many of your citizens take time to reflect on the greatness of America and how blessed they are living there.

  13. May God bless and keep the United States of America forever, and their president Donald John Trump as long he shall live.

And woe to all who will them ill, from the Potomac to the Ottawa to the ends of the Earth, for in truth, the America of Donald Trump is the last hope of mankind. If they fail, so will western civilisation—and may the Lord have mercy on any who live to see what replaces it.

To America and all who love her and love freedom, I wish a Happy Independence Day.

To those who don’t, be sure of this: the God you think doesn’t exist has remembered America and her sister Israel. He will not forget your iniquity and ingratitude.

  14. Well. Just when I was done writing “God has remembered America and her sister Israel,” who decides to be the first to try to ruin the party but the Amalekite Justin Amash?

    https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/rep-justin-amash-announces-he-s-leaving-republican-party-n1026561

This morning the Michigan congressman published a laughable op-ed in the WaPo “declaring independence” from the GOP.

He begins by assuring us that the “Palestinian” Arab dog who sired him and the pig who gestated him were both Republicans—most likely because they thought (wrongly) that the Jews controlled the Democratic party.

Well, their Justin has concluded that the GOP is another Zionist front on the grounds that Trump’s son-in-law is Jewish, and is calling on Americans to reject both.

Few Americans worthy of the name will pay much attention, thank God. They will turn up at the polls to throw his stinking Arab arse out of office next November, though.

    1. I love how salty you losers are about this. Amash is irrelevant-that’s why you’re obsessed with him.

    1. Go get em Jason. Hope that you mean it and that there are some indictable results. It would be nice to see some of the traitors in jail.

And as a supplement to your article Joe, “Why did Prime Minister Justin Trudeau order his revenue minister to stop the Canada Revenue Agency from auditing politically active charities? Was it to protect his best friend and former principal secretary, Gerald Butts?”

Krause questions why Trudeau changed charity laws for activists (I think we here know why)

      https://calgarysun.com/news/local-news/corbella-krause-questions-why-trudeau-changed-charity-laws-for-activists/wcm/87295ccb-fd91-44d5-8d51-9aa164588eb1

      1. Good post Ken. I just saw that.

What’s amazing is that $600 million of American money has been spent to land lock Alberta oil and influence Canadian elections.

And the Greens, NDP, and Liberals are also recipients of the money/spending.

Hopefully the Alberta government will publicize this widely.

    2. What a waste of time and effort. Just like the Indigenous Missing Women probe, what do they think they’re gonna find?

Just cut the spending you dolt.

  15. I see California passed a law ,there will be no discrimination against people with natural hair styles. If there was any doubt that state Is beyond bat shit crazy this removes all doubt

  16. Happy Independence Day to all of you fortunate enough to be living in the United States, the greatest Country on earth. My American friends think it is corny when I tell them about the aura of freedom we feel every time we cross the border into the U.S. from Canada. God Bless America and President Trump for what he is doing for mankind across the Globe.

    1. “every time we cross the border into the U.S. from Canada”
“like going home” my uncle, may he RIP, would say when he’d cross over.
English measure & national pride were a couple of things he would notice that Canada once had before we changed to Trudopia.

    2. “My American friends think it is corny when I tell them about the aura of freedom we feel every time we cross the border into the U.S. from Canada. God Bless America and President Trump for what he is doing for mankind across the Globe.”

When I lived in Montreal and went across the border into the USA, I felt the same way as you’ve described. Though there is a strong Anglo community in that city, one occasionally met an ignorant person who tried to treat Anglos rudely. It seemed unfortunate at times. Life is too short for such nonsense.

    3. “the aura of freedom we feel every time we cross the border…”
I feel exactly the same way! And here I thought I was the only one. I know that the rolling hills and mountains of Montana are very similar to Alberta, but somehow the vistas in Canada are just a pretty sight, while the ones in the States seem to be calling my heart to open up to something bigger.
BTW, at one time, long ago, crossing back into Canada felt like coming home. Now it feels like returning to a job or relationship that is sucking my soul dry.
At least you Americans know you are in a culture war!

      1. Bring Alberta with you. Adding star 51 isn’t that hard. 3 groups of 17 stars (9 in one row and eight next to it). And convince Saskatchewan when you join us. 52 stars is not prime and therefore simpler.

  17. Little Justin this morning gave corrupt Montreal 1.3 billion dollars to upgrade their subway. Nothing to do with the election. And of course a speech or announcement can’t go by without him ranting about Hitler Harper. Now our little dictator burns jet fuel from Montreal to London Ont. where he is scheduled to give a brief speech at a festival. That has nothing to do with the election either.

  18. And may the citizens of both Nations return their countries to a better time when citizens ensured that the wishes of the ruling class remained subordinate to the liberty, and inalienable rights of the individual.

  19. p.s., I have many relatives stateside.
a great uncle did the family tree 60 yrs ago and I got a copy of the book.
‘Cartwright’, going back back back to the Pilgrims or whatever.
one of them fought for the North.
no wonder Im such a big fan and supporter of all you my neighbors and relatives and what you have done for the world.

  20. and another thing about the war of independence.
one needs go back back back all the way to the slave revolt in the roman empire for something of equal scale.
    shucking tyranny.
    the difference, Americans WON.
soon after that Fwance did the same thing, and a host of S American countries, then mehico, on and on.
but America was the very FIRST to say ‘enough!!! enough of your thievery king george III’
and, AND do it successfully thereby paving the way for numerous other peoples to watch and shuck THEIR royalist oppressors.
the lasting success or otherwise of the revolutions is a related but separate matter.

right from the start, the very beginning, the rough approximation is the correct pursuit of LIBERTY.

  21. Happy Independence Day everyone! I’m gonna order a pair of Betsy Ross running shoes if someone else other than Nike puts ’em out. Without the original thirteen colonies there’s no Declaration of Independence. There’s no American Revolution. There’s no U.S. Constitution. There’s no Emancipation Proclamation. There’s no Wright Brothers, Charles Lindberg or Amelia Earheart. There’s no Henry Ford and the automobile revolution. There’s no victory against the Nazi German’s or Imperialist Japanese. There’s no man on the moon, space shuttle or International Space Station. Our past would have looked much poorer and the future ahead will have been much more bleak. God Bless America!

    1. Well said Martin B, The past is results based proof to future progress… I am flying General George Patton’s ancestral (southern) Battle flag.. If some mentally challenged group finds it offensive…F**k them

    (15)  Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.
    (16)  And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering.
    (17)  All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.

  24. Bad news:
NRDC Equity Partners of NYC, the owners of The Hudson’s Bay stores may be shutting down some of its stores. Bet you the downtown Calgary one closes. The mayor must have pelted or rather bombarded them with a big time tax increase. No more info on this likely due to the holiday weekend in US. This is all I could find for now, other than the item on Canadian television.

( Oddly, the dinosaur at the Canadian CTV / BNN broadcaster never mentioned the American owners)

    ~ ~ ~New topic: Climate Emergency:
It is pouring “”””rain”””” in Calgary today and will be for another week if they aren’t faking it! Yikes, the garden will “”float”” -a-w-a-y! It will be a muddy Calgary Stampede, this yar!

The decorations are up, the flags are flying, the people are here, the traffic is flowing….

Heading north to Calgary from the Montana border there were huge rounds of hay, 10 in a row on the ground just outside of Okotoks with giant letters “Y” “A” and “H” spelling “YAH○○○○○○○○○○!”

    1. Nancy – if memory serves me right, have had other rainy Stampedes but – at least once – the local Indians were prevailed upon to do a “sun dance” which worked. Or it could have been the other way about; feeling slighted, they performed a “rain dance” and the Stampede promptly dissolved in mud.

      1. Frances- I can’t remember a wetter few weeks. This area is a green as Ireland in the Irish Spring. Usually by this time everything starts to turn brown, for, after all, it is a semi-desert climate. A pet peeve of mine is that most neighbours’ lawns turn brown way too early because they cut their lawns too short and don’t use the mulching technique! Then they fertilize unevenly and have yellow spots on the brown lawn. Oh welĺ. Some have caught on after awhile, it’s trial and error.

Maybe a Sun Dance would be a good idea though! YAH○○!

    2. NRDC Equity Partners of NYC, the owners of The Hudson’s Bay stores may be shutting down some of its stores. Bet you the downtown Calgary one closes. The mayor must have pelted or rather bombarded them with a big time tax increase.

It’ll be interesting to see how that might affect Edmonton. HBC is an anchor store at Southgate Shopping Centre and one of the last of the original tenants when the place opened nearly 50 years ago.

If it closes, it could mean the end of Southgate. The other anchor location was originally Woodward’s, then Eatons, followed by Sears, and, now, a furniture store that’s closing after only a few months of business.

      1. The Hudson’s Bay is our last real department store in Canada.
I have always shopped there, more so than Sears or Eaton’s and would be lost without it because I’ve never gotten into the habit of shopping online. I don’t plan on starting to do so either.

We’ll just have to wait for more news. And hope that the news is not too bad.

So much so that Clinton got 3 million more votes than Turmp, who is the most despised US president in many decades.

      1. Calling Trump the most despised President is very misleading, as he is also greatly loved by many. Have you seen those enthusiastic rallies with thousands attending? I believe Lincoln was also greatly despised by many when he was President. It was another very divisive time. It’s politics.

  26. Thank you, good people, from above the 49th Parallel. With any luck, you will be celebrating your own
Independence Day this year when you kick your current Prime Minister to the curb! MCGA.

    1. Just to add to your comment. My wife and I went for our evening bike ride in our small Saskatchewan prairie town of about 1,200 and stopped at the ice cream shop for a cone. We heard two different places that set off fireworks to celebrate your 4th of July. And, it wasn’t even dark yet. I expect that after dark there will be some more fireworks.
