Here’s an idea! Change your parents’ bad voting habits by refusing to breed.
You see, those “right wing, centrist, or politically complacent parents” – the parents you love, presumably – must be purged of their “ill-informed allegiances,” and made to conform politically, with the threat of never seeing grandchildren.
Which is how well-adjusted adult offspring behave, of course.
Meanwhile we have the young, fertile staff at The Weather Network – babble ominously about climate change, and then take maternity leave.
I think it’s great they’re having kids, but maybe they could stop sounding so apocalyptic when they obviously don’t believe it.
As for the Salon writer, i wonder if the progressive moment could even survive without an army of really damaged, vicious people.
Is it the philosophy or the sheer joy of validating their severe problems?

As Mark Steyn once said “The future belongs to those who show up for it.” It is my understanding that Muslim immigrant families in the UK and Europe are having 4-5 children per family – they are definitely showing up for the future.
On the other hand, I support more education for women and girl children. With more education, women are able to limit their family size to 2-3 children.
On another note, I actually believed David Suzuki back in the 1970’s when he was advocating for zero population growth because the world was going to run out of food and resources by the mid-1980’s. ZPG advocated only one child per person – which I did. My sister had no children, one brother had 2 sons and the other only 1 daughter. David Suzuki has had 5 children with 3 different wives. I no longer believe anything which David Suzuki says.

Such people just don’t think things through. Not reproducing simply creates space for those who will. Multiculturalism and diversity policies presently favour immigration from cultures hostile to ours. Immigrants more interested in maintaining their traditional medieval customs could outbreed and over a short time displace the occupants of the land that adopted them. Because they haven’t been fooled or brainwashed into thinking humans are responsible for “climate change” the environmental impact of a greatly increased population who couldn’t care less about greenhouse gasses etc will outstrip that of the self absorbed adults that still act like children and that only procreate late in life and at most have only one or two offspring.
I checked the FaceBook page for the ‘Canadian parents concerned about climate change’. Big deal. 331 people following in a country of 38 million.
Anybody making decisions based on the advice of their children is an idiot.
Having children is a terrible idea anyway. There’s just no upside to it, so this is moot.
Not everyone experiences parenthood the way your parents did.
