  1. Well, Liberals gonna Liberal, what can I say.

I haven’t seen any journalists pledging to Shiela Copps (sorry, I mean “quit”) if their organization takes the Liberal money. I have not seen any media bosses pledging to refuse to take any of the payoff. Rebel doesn’t have to, because we all know that ipso facto, they have been excluded from the beginning. Possibly the Sun group too.

The only question left for the G&M, Torstar, Global, NP, CTV, CBC, … “are you Isvestia, or Pravda”?

  2. Anyone involved in this sordid affair needs to be severely punished. Unifor for example, should have the entirety of their assets nationalized by the next government.

When that doesn’t happen, you will know who you voted for.

  3. Good well-researched article by Chris Selley at the NP. All SDA’ers should read it, about how Justin Trudeau’s Liberals are rigging media coverage for the fall election.

A couple of days ago I channel-surfed onto Don Martin’s Politics show, on the CTV news channel, when the “journalists” panel was on. (I cannot watch the dreadful “Mr. Establishment” Martin for very long, but can give him five minutes of my time). Anyways, Mr. Establishment posed a lazily-phrased question to Susan Delacourt, of the pro-Liberal Toronto Star — about how she felt about the wonderful new $600-million fund to be handed out to designated media. Ms. Delecourt thought for a second, but then intoned that “since newspapers serve a social function in communities, they are entirely privileged in receiving the federal money — to make sure they fulfill their wondrous “social function”. Needless to say Mr. Martin did not rebut her argument, nor did the other reporter do so.

I will not bore readers with an arcane economics theorem (“marginal value of product” theory) that states the common-sense notion that the more money a firm gets, the more money is then paid out as wages to labour. Hence, some of the federal dough going to the pro-Liberal Toronto Star will find its way to journalists’ pockets.

One can wait with excitement at Mr. Delacourt’s writings during this fall’s election.

    1. Rigging the media for the fall election, there is freaking understatement if there ever was one. This nonsense has been going on for decades.

  4. Let the CBC share the 600 million with the other toadies and cancel the 1.3 billion they are getting now. We know what they are the only question is the price like the union cathouse that ran on seniority.

  5. We are witnessing something important:

-Canadian journalism shedding its last shred of credibility
-Canadian journalists shedding their last shred of dignity

They’ve given away press freedom and independence for a government paycheck and government control. If they don’t already feel like losers and sellouts…they should. Everything they report will now be seen as official Government News.

    1. It’s been gone since the 2015 election imho. I haven’t watched a minute of any of their so-called news garbage since.

  6. Ask Trudeau if the PMO will direct the commission to cut funding to any news outlet that becomes critical of him.
We already know from the SNC Liberal farce that he has no problem with political interference and meddling.
The idea that his government would act with honesty and integrity is clearly ridiculous.
Why would this time be any different?

  7. I am the only politician in Ottawa who has been raising this issue of the negative effects on Canadian consumers of protecting industries.

And also the only one who is not beholden to cartels, lobbies and interest groups.

    Coincidence?

Protected industries: Why more than a third of the Canadian economy is walled from competition
Special to Financial Post Nicholas Sokic

From maple syrup to milk producers, telcos to taxi companies, Canadian firms “are walled from competition” that has led to stunted trade, investment and innovation in the country and left consumers with fewer choices, according to a new report.

    1. So, you going to fire every federal government employee who let this happen? Strip them of their pensions? Call them out as Liberal party operatives, and classify everything they’ve done for the last 50 years as political spending?

      Didn’t think so.

      1. The leftist lawyers and judges would repeal most of it Kevin since they take care of their own.

Remember it’s the government that never leaves when elections are lost that control the entire system.

It will take a while to dismantle it all.

        1. And this is the problem with most western governments today. They have become almost completely infested with parasites that serve no purpose other than to enrich themselves off of our labour and swell their ranks with like minded parasites.

Andrew Scheer has given no indication that he will make the slightest move to change any of this. At least Max has tipped his hat in the direction of less government.

          1. Max outed himself. The system is too powerful. The bureaucracy is entrenched like a World War I front and they have ALL the poison gas.
No one can change the system from without. You can only overthrow it. Anyone who is up for revolution will be in jail on charges of sedition in a very short time, especially with the increasingly totalitarian Liberals backed by the zealotry of the group-think left.

      2. Kevin, sure would be a good idea. I have watched the stupid unfold for more than fifty years.

    2. Max,
The Canadian economist doesn’t understand competition & marketing, that is why the CBC has such a moronic view of the China/USA trade dispute… More than 50 years ago the Business model for pricing was COST plus Profit, that is past history.. The Japan, Korea, China pricing model is driven by Marketing… If they want 50B USA dollars for their economy they drive the Cost backwards & set the price to the Market….The end result is maintained by market results… Pricing is set by “Market Results”

When China has to add 25% to their price their Market share will decrease… The Walmart’s face the same problem of trying to pass through price increases… Loss of Market share will be picked up by others

The USA consumer has the option of paying the price increase, or NOT buying….Some will look for other suppliers……China will lose Market share that is not recoverable

      JMHO

  8. Hopefully the PPC gets in and is able to start draining the Canadian swamp (muskeg?).

    Go Max!

Just ordered a couple PPC mugs.

  9. The institutional left is uniting by bringing together the organized crime of big unions, conflicted leftist journalists and rent seeking corporate whores to conspire via the already thinly disguised media to ensure leftist political outcomes. The Spawn and his electorate are ratcheting up the authoritarianism in measures not seen since his Father was in power.

      1. The suppression of Free Speech on social media platforms … and the government-media-Leftist-Complex are attempting to STOP any Trump-like candidate from EVER taking government office EVER AGAIN!!

They are soooooo FEARful of open debate. So FEARful of defending their positions. So FEARful that the rubes might start to see the men and women behind the curtain. So they are PROJECTING a FAKE image of themselves and their policies.

  10. If the journalist has nothing on the credit side, it won’t matter a damn what they publish.
    So here’s the rub.
The polls inevitably will, come election day, start to reflect favorably one way. The public will pay no attention and vote in a way that defies the expert opinions.
This has been recognized by those willing to see since the election of Trump.

  11. For every piece of pro liberal content once the election starts, file a complaint with elections canada, as these would be in kind contributions to the liberal party, using government funds.

  12. any union in a closed shop should not be allowed to engage in politics, nor contribute to any political party or politicians. Unions are one huge problem for any democracy when they get into politics

    1. Big labour, big government and big business. The trinity of trouble for Canadians, who will always get their bill.
And be told they’re intolerant racists if they don’t agree. Look how big oil has surrendered to the trinity.

  13. “Andrew Scheer has given no indication that he will make the slightest move to change any of this.”

    Precisely, Johnboy.

And THAT, is “the” story here.

It constitutes the true and entire picture about the current state of affairs in this democracy, and even more troubling, a panoramic view of our future. In this case Scheer’s silence is not simple cowardice (which he has in abundance), but rather, proof that the two contenders for the throne are equally comfortable with the notion of a bought-and-paid-for press.

  14. The Corrupt Liberals amass more power daily.
Justin Trudeau believes himself fated to his position.
He cannot conceive of anyone other than himself standing as Prime Minister of Canada.
In the future he may see a selected successor but that is a very long way away.
    He is a megalomaniac.
The Corrupt Liberal Party are shutting down the free press, shutting down dissent, cutting property rights, redistributing stolen wealth and suppressing wealth-making that does not empower them further. They are rearranging power structures to undermine any effort to stop them, making deals to transform the post nation into something they label Righteous.
Their zealotry will be seen in their attacks on any who dare to oppose them.
The federal government backs them with unlimited amounts of advertising money.
    Elections Canada is corrupted.
    The Justice system is corrupted.
The Bureaucracy is a powerful hammer.
PSAC a knife in the back.
    CRA is an attack dog.
    The RCMP a truncheon.
    The Armed Forces is neutered.
And the Security Institutions will do what needs to be done to maintain their existence no matter what form the post nation takes.

Best to keep your head down and smile meekly because 70% of Canadians are all for it.

  15. The three most relevant issues for the PPC to focus on in the election:

    ** avoiding climate hysteria and irrational economic planning based on overhyped fears of a largely non-existent threat;

    ** strengthening freedom of speech laws in Canada rather than succumbing to globalist groupthink snowflake anxiety;

** solving the BC-Alberta impasse, build the pipelines, but recognize that costs must be shared if risks turn into spills — and also rethink our national strategy of heavy dependence on China as a trading partner.

Immigration reform is also overdue, we need an intelligent balance between economic security and cultural survival. We can see what Europe has done wrong (in most cases) so why copy any of that?

And while terminating the CBC is the feel good option, I would say restructure it so that its management was less political and its range of public affairs talking heads reflected the reality of Canadian politics rather than a shameless Liberal fan club. I know some NDPers who would agree with that. I don’t mind seeing liberals on TV so long as they are being held accountable for their statements. Other than Rex Murphy, who is there at the CBC to do that? Andrew Coyne is at best a centrist accommodationist. Almost everyone else there looks and feels like they lurched out of a dungeon below the LPC headquarters to get to their desks in time to spin spin spin for Justin.

  16. The establishment Media, or monopolized corporate State Media has been corrupted for at least as long as Peeair’s country has been imposed… further corruption of the Media who are nothing more than LIberal Party agents was inevitable… Just in time for the election the Turdhole Party corrupts an already corrupt Media while saying they’re doing the opposite, kinda like the bullshit narrative of a “just society”… a “just society” always see’s its citizens as enemies of the one party ethnic nationalist State, and should be treated accordingly… the totalitarian Turdhole Party continues the degradation of the “First Post National State” and unsurprisingly will be cheered on by those the corruption benefits the most… the Media and the Turdhole Party.

  17. How and why did Hitler control the Media…? How and why did Stalin control the Media… ? How and why does Uncle Fidel control the Media… ? How and why does Justines most admired dictatorship control the Media… ? How and why did Peeair control the Media…? I think it has something to do with being a “just society”… good to see the criminally expensive franco speaking industry over represented in the new Ministry of Thought and Media Corruption… The Franco talking Family of Queefbek are at the top of Peeairs Hierarchical ethnic nationalist identity list so their over representation in something this warped and totalitarian is expected… why are franco takers so special… ? cause Peeair said so, thats why… or Queerbek will separate, or some such horse-shit… Turdholeland sure is a “just society” now, especially if you belong to the right tribe… then its really “just”. Peeairs mentally deranged Fiefdom continues.

    1. Exactly. And any person not from K-Bec who votes for a party with a K-Becer as leader is a moral coward and a traitor.
With all due respect for Max, no f**king way, not ever will I vote for a K-becer.

  18. The control of the media——Nazi Germany ( Austria ) in 1937 to 1939! Unifor equals “The Brown Shirts”
Kitty Werthmann speaks about growing up in Nazi Austria —– worth the time!!! We have to get rid of these clowns!
    600 million?
