As a retired Professional Geologist of some 30 plus years experience, both in mining and oil and gas exploration across this country, north and south, sea to sea to sea, I’ve now resorted to not arguing with the Warmists, or explaining “sciency stuff” to them. I mean, I only have a BSc in Geology. TSK.

    Mostly now, I just ask people how much CO2 in our atmosphere they “feel is enough”. That includes the “sciency” types, too. It’s a good start point and it lays it right out how much they know about the subject. Which is generally abysmally little.

    We’re supposedly at 400 ppm CO2, which to some “experts” on the subject is still too low, being that certain plants (C4 types) become stressed below 250 ppm, whereas simple grasses can exist down to almost zero CO2. Most people zone out on “sciency stuff” so, I use this to get folks excited about CO2 levels:

    Below 250 ppm CO2 pot plants don’t do so well (a lot of plants don’t, it seems). They do well above 250 ppm but best at around 1200 ppm.

Tell your daughter Co2 is a digit away from Co3 which is far, far, more dangerous than Co2, however, if she counts backwards twice, performs a double pirouette like Dorothee out of the Wizard of Oz and washes the dishes tomorrow night, Co2 will just vaporize into thin air and all will be well and not to worry.

    Since the very young and teenagers don’t know anything bout life, despite their confidence that they know absolutely everything, its very easy to officially, through the media cartel and the schools to inject into their brains with a lot of room for nonsense.
    I know, been there, done that.

    Life is a struggle, its as constant as the climate change, as they will eventually discover.
    Perhaps they will handle it just as well as previous generations that thought that they were going to change the world.

    The difference is that the earlier generations had to deal with the real world as opposed to today.

  21. The sad part is that there are people like her and her family all over. I suspect that the high school student who led the Saskatoon high school walkout and demonstration of about 100 high school students for “Climate Action Now” sort of thing would be in this “brainwashed nuts” category.

  22. There’s a few things concerning here and it’s about the adults behavior, not the child’s.

    The first is that adults shouldn’t be trying to scare children about climate change*. It’s not only innappropiately manipulative but it’s also a form of child abuse that can push troubled children into crisis. Secondly, the parents should not have indulged their daughter’s fears. I get that Greta is a difficult child with a number of mental problems but surely calming her fears and explaining how her emotions were being manipulated would be the rational course of action*. Finally, why are adults toying with this girl’s delicate mental state by putting her in the limelight like she’s some kind of prophet. Both the cult like adoration and backlash of resentment towards her are not helping her at all. It’s a sick, twisted game climate change activists are playing.

    * I live in very Christian town but I’m atheist so we don’t go to church. During recess at school two of my kids were told that they’d go to hell if they didn’t go to church/believe in God. After a rational and humorous discussion, their fears were alleviated. There’s no difference in my book between scaring kids about everlasting torment in hell in the afterlife or climate change induced hell on earth.

    In fact, it is remarkable how similar climate change is to a fundamentalist religion sect. Personally, I think climate change has become a refuge for failed atheists who cannot shed the religious impulse and the authoritarianism based moral righteousness that often comes with religious fanaticism.

  34. +1 on child abuse becoming the norm. That was one of the hallmarks of Roman decline – kids were used as sex slaves and in general brutally abused by their elders. Thomas Wictor predicted that pedophilia would eventually be normalized in the ongoing wave of degeneracy masquerading as normal or even victimhood/nobility, and I’ll go further and say “within my son’s lifetime certainly if not mine.”
