      1. I’d put a carbon tax question on the income tax form.

Do you think climate change action is required? If you reply yes, then no tax refund, plus you pay an additional 10% tax on your income.

Any tax paid would be rebated to those who answer No.

      2. Paying ‘carbon’ tax is like buying a lottery ticket.
There is almost a 100% chance that you will lose your payment.
And about one chance in 15 million that you will win the big prize.

  1. The Dangers of Muslim population growth

    By Cheri Berens – Feb 3, 2017

Most Americans falsely believe that Muslims will never be a threat to their freedoms. This is because Muslims follow a distinct Islamic Doctrine that instructs them to remain “peaceful” and to lie quietly in the background and un-noticed until they build up their numbers. Then they begin their strategies of violence and takeover.

As long as the Muslim population remains around or under 2% in a country, Muslims will predominantly behave as a “peace-loving” minority, and not as a threat to other citizens. This is the case in:

    United States — Muslim 1.8 – 2.11 %
    Australia — Muslim 1.5%
    Canada — Muslim 1.9%
    China — Muslim 1.8%
    Italy — Muslim 1.5%
    Norway — Muslim 1.8%

BUT, it must be noted that Australia, Italy and Norway have already begun experiencing problems at 1.5%; 1.5%; and 1.8%

Additionally, in some countries, with populations between 2% and 5%, the minority Muslim populations live in neighborhoods which are 100% Muslim and they live by Islamic Law. The police do not enter these neighborhoods. There are no national courts, public schools, or non-Muslim religious institutions. In these communities, Muslims refuse to integrate into the native community, and they keep the natives out of the Muslim communities.

So we gather the whole lot and deport them all.

    Problem solved

  2. The Canadian Government Is Now a Dangerous Big Brother
    Michael Brown | May 04, 2019 12:01 AM

This important story has been out for some days now, but I waited before writing. Why? It’s because I did not want to write yet another article on transanity. Another article on extreme transgender activism. Another article on the world being turned upside down.

But this is too urgent. Too disturbing.

In a totalitarian regime, it’s a parents’ worst nightmare.

I’m talking about government intervention. About hostile, outside forces coming right into your home and usurping your authority. About the courts forbidding you from parenting your child. And, worse still, threatening to punish you if you dare try.

Big Brother is flexing his muscles, and no one is standing in his way.

    America, are you watching?

    Parents, are you listening?

  3. Peddling shabby patriotism to middle-class white people seems harmless, but it inevitably it leads the patriotic into supporting people, who have no intention of actually representing their interests. North was more than happy to subvert the venerable gun group so he could haul away some of its cash. The terrible decisions by the group of late in terms of cucking to the gun grabbers all seem to lead to North. His interest was to stuff his pockets with money, not advance the interests of gun owner and gun rights.

It is a good example of how the con works in politics. North has spent a lifetime flattering the sorts of people willing to give money to the NRA. He is very good at flattering these sorts of people, which is how he made a TV career telling other people’s war stories. He is very good at flattering middle-class white people. The National Rifle Association naturally assumed he would be a good face for them, as he appeals to the sorts of people they represent. They made the mistake of trusting someone who flattered them.

This is the fourth time someone in or was a part of the liberal government said someone would be shot!

What is Trudeau’s slimy government planning?

    The fourth time!

Why do the liberals keep repeating this?

  5. It’s snowing in Calgary tonight. Why would I want to stop global warming? I’d love more of it.

Meanwhile our wonderful Alberta windmills are operating at 6% of capacity. Premier Kenney please have all power companies indicate how much carbon tax we are paying on each electric bill. Also indicate the amount of renewable subsidies we are paying.

Whilst in Eco BC, Victoria is still dumping it’s raw sewage into the ocean, the port of Vancouver is exporting more coal than any port in North America, and John Horgan wants Alberta to build more refineries so Bancouver can get cheaper gasoline.

In Ottawa Justin and Climate Barbie are planning more virtue signalling trips.

And to all a good night.

    1. Isn’t Alberta supposed to adopt an energy policy that will reward electricity companies for their capacity to generate electricity and not just for what they have generated? The ghost of Notley still haunts you.

  6. ‘Jihad Is the Best Part of Worship’: Taliban, Islamic State Gear Up for Ramadan

Terrorist groups such as the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL) and the Taliban in recent days made their annual call to arms as Ramadan approaches, claiming Allah exceptionally rewards martyrdom during the holy month.

This year, the holiest month for Muslims is expected to run from the evening of May 5 to June 5, depending on the phases of the moon.

On April 29, days after ISIS claimed to have carried out the wave of suicide bombings primarily targeting Christians in Sri Lanka, the group’s elusive leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, resurfaced in his first video in five years. He urged Muslims to carry out more attacks and pledged to continue the crusade.

“Our battle today is one of attrition and stretching the enemy. They should know that jihad is ongoing until the day of judgment,” al-Baghdadi proclaimed.

Read the rest here where there is a lot more insanity.

    1. They ‘ve got to self reflect. In line with Climate change, these believers should replace murder with suicide, right after their fast.
Save the planet. It’s a new world.

      1. It might not be a good idea to visit Brooks, Alberta, either. Look up what happened there when the local packing plant (Lakeside Packers as it was known as when I lived in the area more than 30 years ago) started bringing in foreign workers, some of whom were from you-know-where.

Brooks was a typical Canadian prairie town in the mid-1980s with most of the people being of European background. From what I’ve heard, it isn’t any more.

  7. fractional reserve banking is why i hate money

all the money in our pockets was loaned at interest, but there is never enough money in circulation to pay the interest on the loan, so MORE MONEY MUST BE LOANED… Literally created out of thin air
Its designed to be a never ending merry go round to ensure bankers will always have a job… Because at any given time it is physically impossible for all debts to be ever be paid off

    1. So my observation that the world runs on debt could be considered 100% accurate.

      1. This is why we can’t return to the gold standard. Gold would have to be valued at some crazy amount ($30,000/oz) to match the amount of currency in circulation. It currently costs $1,000/oz to mine gold. Countries with gold reserves (and more importantly gold mines) would rule the world. We can’t have that.

        1. Still a big cover up on Canada’s 1000 Metric Tonnes of strategic gold reserves sold off by Chretien and Martin. Mostly for 250-500 per oz. The TO Star proclaimed them economic genius’s at the time. Then they stole 54B from the workers UI Fund. Canada was a world power in gold reserves and poof elect the crooked Liberals and it disappears. The money from the sale of this gold was never reported on the Bank of Canada books or the books of the Gov. of Canada. Does no one else find this unusual? After all these years I am beginning to think somebody called it in to settle Canadian Debt run up by the Liberals.

        2. The gold standard was a colossal failure. Gold is a commodity subject to manipulation. Currency is also subject to manipulation but the chief manipulator, central banks, are supposed to have the good of the economy in mind. In practice, in western democracies, the record is impressive. In Zimbabwe, not so much, because that was a case of theft of existing currency value by printing money – quantitative easing on steroids. Obama only stole a little money from citizens owning currency while Mugabe stole it all.

A currency, partially backed by gold, will be constantly tested by market forces running counter to good economic policy. In the 1960s our old friend, Charles de Gaulle started exchanging US dollars for gold and the pot quickly run dry, ending gold backing for the US dollar. As Steve said, a fully gold backed currency is not possible as a few countries would control the world economy.

Back to the credit boogeyman. I am not sure how a banking system could operate that would not automatically create money. If the banks were not allowed to loan out money they took on deposit, there is no reason for a banking system to exist. If they are allowed to loan out deposits, money is automatically created.

I thought these old Social Creditors were all dead. I guess just wishful thinking.

          1. Well scar, the purchasing power of your current dollar vs say 1910 is about .04 cents. In 1920 1 oz of gold would buy you a new hand made wool suit. Today 1 oz of gold will buy you a decent hand made wool suit. Your 20 fiat dollars from 1920 might buy you a couple of beers and a cheap cigar. Gold is a store of wealth fiat currency not so much. No need to tie it to currency, but it should be allowed to float in value to what at least it’s purchasing power truly is, .04 cents vs ? maybe 20,000/oz. Not sure but very stable store of wealth.
So what did governments really do to your wealth? They taxed it away through inflation. You do know that there are major lawsuits going on because central banks have been suppressing the true value of gold.

          2. Fluctuation in gold price:
            2000 -6%
            2001 1%
            2002 24%
            2003 22%
            2004 4%
            2005 18%
            2006 24%
            2007 32%
            2008 4%
            2009 25%
            2010 30%
            2011 8%
            2012 9%
            2013 -28%
            2014 -1%
            2015 -12%
An economy with such swings in the value of currency would be difficult to manage. No coincidence that we have not had a depression in 90 years, none since the gold standard was abandoned.

          3. Scar I was only referencing purchasing power and a store of wealth. 1 oz of gold in 1920 was worth 20 us dollars. 1 oz of gold today over 1200 us dollars. what would your 20 dollars fiat buy you today. Not even gas for a riding lawnmower. The 1 oz gold from 1920 would buy a nice lawnmower.

    2. Fractional reserve banking IS BANKING. There is nothing wrong with it. Indeed government regulation is actually limiting the fractions-that’s what reserve requirements do. This strand of economics malarky is one of the libertarian movement’s worst features.

Contra Austrian economics, an increase in money supply is NOT inflation(ary). Inflation only occurs when the unit of account loses purchasing power. While printing too much money/increasing money supply can cause this, it doesn’t necessarily and isn’t required for such a devaluation. Bush devalued the USD with nothing but his words.

      1. Yea…tell that to the post WWI – late ’20’s Germans and lately, the Venezulans. I’m sure your post would have been of interest.

  8. -1°C in SW Calgary.
The snow is light and has accumulated on the lawn but melts as it hits the street. A good drink for Mother Earth.

This link features North American Hockey as a topic tonight. I used to like Ken Dryden in nets when he played for Montreal. I saw him and the team play at the Forum many times.

At 6’4″ he filled the space in front of the net with his magnificent size when he threw himself down and made a great save. Everyone knew his body language and moves. He saved the Canadiens from loss; he brought the Canadiens to victory. You know all the stats – they were something else.

The Stanley Cup was theirs because of this Goaltender’s swift moves. When he was waiting for action, bored and lonely, he rested his chin on top of his hockey stick. It was one of his still moments, it equally, was one of his signature moves.

He gave it his all and brought us to victory against the Russians too.
    We beat them.
It is our game not theirs.

And to all a good night.

    1. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/327863-the-nhls-top-10-goaltenders-of-all-time#slide5

Ken Dryden is a great sports fan who loves football and baseball World Series games. He was also a great tennis player. His dad had a large part of their backyard paved and in winter they put in a large skating rink. Ken’s brother Dave also played pro NHL hockey.

There are many neat YouTube’s on Ken Dryden including his thoughts about the Canada- USSR Hockey series. Check them out. The above link includes photos of some of the best goaltenders. Note Dryden’s pose, he’s leaning on his hockey stick.

      1. Ken Dryden did have an impressive hockey career. He had only played 6 regular season games when the 71 playoffs began. Boston who finished first with 57 wins in a 78 game schedule looked to easily repeat as Stanley Cup Champs when they faced 3rd place Montreal in the 1st round. Dryden played like he was possessed, shocking the Boston Bruins, my favorite team, and going on to win the Cup and be named playoff mvp.
His political career was less stellar. He ran in the safest Liberal seat in Toronto representing the riding until he was defeated in 2011 by 6000 votes. He ran as Liberal leader, finishing 5th and then threw his support to Doinky Dion.
In short, just another dime a dozen leftie Liberal.

        1. https://montrealgazette.com/news/local-news/comparing-current-nhl-salaries-with-past-ones-in-tableau

Don’t be so hard on the fella.

          About Hockey:
He was well paid for the times making $18 K a year which would be approximately $115K now. Not that bad considering what the cost of living was then. Remember, the players were hard done by with the Alan Eagleson larceny. This theft became a big threat to the future of Hockey. Something had to be done fast in order to save the NHL. The solution was to pay the players bigger salaries. It started in 1978-9 with Bobby Hull. By 2018 players made $2.96 million.

Poor Dryden left hockey behind in 1979. He fell through the cracks. That was why Dryden pursued a law degree. It was for his life after hockey.
( A little story: my cousin lived near a famous Montreal Canadien’s Hockey player back in the day and regularly said hello and waved to him. Both guys lived in deplexes on a busy boulevard, not in the suburbs in mansions with swimming pools)

So what did life after hockey mean for Dryden? As said, a law degree. Canadians are not a litigious society. So poĺitics followed practicing law.

          About Politics:
“Just another dime a dozen leftie Liberal” Com’ on don’t be so hard on the fella. You can’t possibly believe he was a Liberal. He had two children and fled the Commies in Réné Levesqueland in the great diaspora of the late 1970s. If anything, he was like a Conservative. He was parsimonious. His own brother was taken out for hamburgers instead of a steak dinner, in the city where restaurants are renouned for good food. What else could a hockey playing lawyer do? Not many places offered big bucks and a pension. If anything, Paul Martin took him in because he liked him.

          Life after Politics:
I read that he is a grandfather now.
He teaches at McGill University in Montreal. A fella has gotta make a living.

He sounds like a kind man to me, unlike the vicious Commies in Ottawa today.

Dryden still has a lot of fans and he must have many good memories of days gone by. In the spirit of being a good Canadian, “Eee wuz one helluva Canadien!”

  9. It’s almost trite now, but “those who make peaceful revolution inpossible will make violent revolution inevitable.”

    Talk is cheap.

    So is rope.

    Suspend a politician today.

Vox nails it again. The issue is empire vs nationalism.

I’ve been a republican all of my life and have very strong opinions about matters like the welfare state, abortion, and gun rights. And not that this is the case (or likely ever will be), but if I were to infer that the Democratic Party was ever serious about closing the borders to immigration and supporting the real American people, then I would reverse my ballot in a heart beat. Any other voting criteria on “principles” is a war of attrition. Sooner or later we will be outnumbered and they will balloon the welfare state, kill all of the newborns, and try to take away our guns anyway. We must have national sovereignty or it’s all toast.

It appears our that friends across the pond are thinking the same way.

It’s almost like that’s their whole intention – oh wait, it is. They literally are transforming this country into a 3rd world state that they can then rule as the new aristocracy. That’s the plan. White people are in the way because white people don’t make 3rd world countries and don’t generally put up with unaccountable aristocracies that do nothing but line their own pockets. So it’s all bread and circuses until we’re a small enough/powerless enough group that can’t stop their plans.

Above was a sampling of comments.

Precisely the Cdn Liberals Plan – open Border – pay the migrants for doing nothing but destroying the hotels they are shacked up in as Trudeau gives them voting rights. Add Open season for anyone in this country to bring their parents and Grandparents here as well…it appears we dont have enough of a DRAIN on our Social Services – Health Services networks.

And by gosh, “hadnt you better give up your guns.??” Eith every Liberal False Flag shooting..?? the rhetoric climbs up a Notch.

If things dont change in Canada – I may claim refugee status in the US. A white persecuted male..to make it easier.?, I’ll identify as something – give me time and I’ll think of it.

    1. He also didn’t interview Julian Assange, who could tell him if the Russians were involved.

The Environics Institute for Survey Research was established by Michael Adams in 2006

Michael Adams is so ingrained into the political cabal in Canada he has the order of Canada and meet with the senate and received a standing ovation.

As a no one speacial aka regular joe Canadian I’m supposed to trust his polls?

Our media, governments institutions and private welfare companies are so corrupt with revolving doors and they have the same goals of killing the Canada we knew into this shit show it has become and again I blame the federal Globalist LibCons for allowing all of this to happen.

And as for the Environics Institute well this what they do

The Environics Institute for Survey Research was established by Michael Adams in 2006 to promote relevant and original public opinion and social research on important issues of public policy and social change. It is through such research that organizations and individuals can better understand Canada today, how it has been changing, and where it may be heading.

        Apathy is Boring
        Canadians for a New Partnership
        Think for Actions (Calgary)

        1. Ok so some of you think I’m paranoid so I looked up just one organization involved with the Environics Institute

So I picked Apathy is Boring and
Caro Loutfi is their Executive Director.

          Who is Caro Loutfi?

She currently sits on the Inspirit Foundation’s board who grants money for films and
Special consideration will be given to Indigenous or Muslim-led projects that seek to advance reconciliation or address Islamophobia in Canada. Selected projects will be awarded $25,000.

So I decided to check out one board member of Apathy is Boring she is Niamh Leonard and her Twitter Page and lo and behold look at this.

          WTF says Enough Said…

          1. Great job wtf

Why didn’t you pick the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation?

            To easy???

Just another reason to vote for Max.

          2. Well I could also have used the Tides Canada or the David Suzuki Foundation.

What’s scary is that Caro Loutfi is Apathy is Boring Executive Director but she sits on the board of Inspirit Foundation which is also a Foundation attached to the Environics Institute so you see how they all work for each other.

Someone with deep pockets or time on their hands could mine and map these corrupt business, governmental and media institutions and blow the cover of the leftist Globalist agenda attacking Canada and Canadians every day.

Just follow the money that supports them all would be a great start.

unme, sweetie… i thought you be embarrassed to show your face
after mounting a defense of canada’s biggest opioid dealer ever.

committing non-crime such as drug dealing and owning guns.”

    1. Interesting piece from John Batchelor and guest. Problem is there is too much money in tuition fees. A large number of Administration Personnel is the result.

How to get a degree and not go past high school?
      (Like a Ben Franklin)
      Invent something.

      http://www.drinkingcup.net/1737-benjamin-franklin-publishes-228-terms-for-being-drunk/

In Walter Isaacson biography of Ben Franklin, he describes how Franklin never went to university and hated the thought of it. He also didn’t have the money to go.

Franklin was a success in life because he was self taught and ambitious. He was practical and created many inventions. He was a writer and a publisher. He did it his way.

Franklin loved being called Dr Franklin.
He loved wine, women and song.
      But we knew all that.

I noticed that at my university alma mater. When I was an undergrad there in the mid-1970s, getting things done was a relatively simple procedure. One just had to make a request, give the necessary details, and leave one’s name and number.

More than 20 years later, when I was a grad student, the bureaucracy had multiplied and things seemed to slow to a crawl. I remember having a row with the interlibrary loan department when it seemed to be taking its own sweet time in getting a certain publication for me. One day, I lost my patience, looked around on the Internet and found the book I had requested, which was located in the library of a major university. When I called ILL and mentioned that, all I got was waffle and bafflegab. I thought someone there would have been grateful for me helping them to do their job. Nah. Instead I got chewed out for expecting someone to get off their backside and do things in a timely manner.

Often, while I was teaching, certain students always alleged that there would be consequences if they didn’t get the marks they expected or demanded from me in my courses. “We pay your salary, you know,” was a common refrain.

Uh, no, kid. You never paid my salary directly. The government always saw to it that there was enough funding to keep the lights on and pay the staff. Where much of the tuition money went to was whatever harebrained scheme the administrators concocted (which ended up wasting staff time) or in ensuring that the senior admins always had fancy-schmancy office areas.

We were frequently told that we had to “do more with less”, but, for some mysterious reason, there was always money for a new alumni shrine or new carpeting in the administration offices each year.

        1. Further to that, while I was finishing my Ph. D., I paid a fair chunk of money just to keep my file open, even though all I did was thesis work. I was always mystified as to why that was.

It certainly wasn’t for my supervisor’s time. He turned out to be a lazy, useless twit, so I didn’t see him very often, not that he did much for me to begin with. My research consisted of computer simulations and I did those at home on my own machine, which I paid for out of my own pocket.

So far, nobody ever explained to me why I paid so much for so little in return from the university.

          1. Dr B A:
Didn’t mean for you to dredge up painful things.
Please accept my apology, with all due respect.
            I am tearful.

          2. No need for apologies. I simply stated what happened. The image that the general public has about academe (largely from trashy novels and cheesy Hollywood movies) is far from the truth.

BTW, there are numerous websites about that sort of thing. For example, take a look at:

            http://100rsns.blogspot.com/

Until the Internet, I had no idea that what I went through as a grad student and, later, as an educator was so widespread.

          3. @7:17 pm B A

I read through the first 6 pieces and bookmarked the link for later. There are probably a lot truths here.

My maternal grand parents had five children, 20 grandchildren, over 50 great grandchildren and I don’t know how many great- great grandchildren. Many I haven’t met. We are spread all over, mostly in North America. To my knowledge, many have become accomplished citizens. Of the ones that I know of, there are 3 who have PhDs.

Of the those who have PhDs, 2 reside in the USA. It would seem to me that it is the Americans who hire the most well educated people. The remuneration packages are the best in the world.

With the damage to this Country that the Liberals have created, i would tell young folks today to move to the USA. There seems to be little hope for Canada now.

    1. The NY Times cherry picked one year when maple syrup production in one province declined. Fortunately the article in WUWT shows all the data. Take a look for yourself to see just how wrong the NY Times article is.

Check out table 1.2 and then look at table 1.3. Amazing.

I’m surprised the NY Times didn’t contact Climate Barbie so she could get the Canadian maple syrup production figures adjusted before the Times published their fiction, er lies.

      1. As usual, NYT still flogging for Joe Stalin’s ideological grandchildren.

    2. So syrup production doubled and this is a climate change disaster. Reminds me of all the dying bees that seem to be working twice as hard.

    1. What idiots. Does anyone think that issuing a threat is a good way to get help from the US? Don’t they have any skilled diplomats working for our Global Affairs department? The threat even sounds abrasive to me. Anyway, Freeland and Trudeau have done plenty of dumping on Trump. I think they have destroyed any goodwill the US may have had towards us.

    1. “In other news, air traffic controllers report an increase in airborne swine appearing on their radar…..”

      That’s funny! Ha!

Secondly, so HRC. Ha! …and Biden.
