This Is Not Your Grandma’s Humane Society

Asian influenza, asian distemper and now Asian brucellosis;

In March, six Wisconsin animal shelters and rescue organizations, including the Washington County Humane Society, Humane Animal Welfare Society in Waukesha, Humane Society of Sheboygan County, Elmbrook Humane Society and Underdog Pet Rescue, received 26 dogs transported from South Korea by Humane Society International.

None of the dogs transported from South Korea to Wisconsin show signs of illness, but diagnostic testing revealed two dogs to be positive for B. canis. Wisconsin law requires that positive canine brucellosis tests be reported to the state. Public health authorities with the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection were immediately notified and have led the response.

Each dog, even those that tested negative for canine brucellosis, will be quarantined until they are no longer considered at risk. In addition, shelter dogs that were potentially exposed to the dogs from South Korea will also be quarantined. In total, approximately 100 dogs are expected to require quarantine.

These dogs aren’t legitimate rescues — they’re profit generators for the “flip-that-rescue” scam.

Some dogs were placed into adoptive homes prior to the positive test results. In those cases, state public health officials are contacting adopters to instruct them to place the dogs in quarantine in the home.

“Quarantine”? The only “treatment” for breeding dogs with canine brucellosis is euthanasia.

  1. Do gooder Bleeding Ass Liberals. Why are their asses bleeding? Use your imagination.

  2. Rescue groups are the new puppy mills but worse because they operate under a cover of righteous indignation.

  4. The virtue signaling social justice warriors who ‘save’ these dogs equate themselves to what Oskar Schindler was doing in WW11.

The rescue dog ‘industry ‘ should be shut down immediately for deliberate importation of an invasive species.

  5. in commenting on this, I defer to Kates vastly greater knowledge…as to the Slime that imports these dogs for profit while putting the North American “herd” at risk..? I agree, euthansia seems eminently just.

    Dog Lover.
1 yr old PB Pitt Bull – “Murphy” who’d lick you to death..
9 yr Rotweiller – German Shepard cross “Bentley” who’d do the same..

  6. “You say you nice (Canadian /American)will pay me for a starved street dog?” asks the enterprising person in Korea or Egypt or wherever, fine ! I will make you many! Then in his own language ” What idiots- this is going to be great!”

  7. 1) These are not dogs for breeding. These are dogs imported by naive, soft-hearted people who would rather not see the dogs being eaten…

    2) Importing these dogs just increases the market and encourages the breeders in Asia to breed more.
The solution is to discourage eating dogs.

Unfortunately, it’s easier to import them than to change asian diets…

    1. Earl Wertheimer: Canadians and Americans could be eating dogs soon if BEEF starts to sky rocket in price which it could!! Or lots could return to eating Bambi too many choices. But I really believe importing these dogs is going to cause health risks of ALL kinds!

  8. I still see this as “FRESH dogmeat Imports”
Look deeper, diversity is our strength, every new Asian Migrant is entitled to the meat of their choosing.
As I have said,if you wanted to legitimately import fresh asian dogmeat, you would be crucified and denied every permit.
    But “rescue dog”….? A OK.

  9. If you were to ban dog-eating, Obama would die of starvation.

Eating dog is a horrible sin, isn’t it? we really should ban it.

  10. I put the blame squarely at the feet of spoiled, lazy would-be “dog mommies” who refuse to pay a reputable breeder a good price for a good dog.

Their sugar daddies are equally horrified by the thought of paying a Canadian an honest day’s pay for an honest day’s work when a “refugee” will take cash under the table.

Needless to say the “refugees” are plague-ridden as well.

Not all dogs are good for anything but putting to sleep as soon as animal control can catch them. Neither are all humans.

  11. Canine brucellosis is infectious during the entire life of the dog, because the disease causes genital discharge that is full of infection. If a dog licks or sniffs an infected dog, he or she will almost certainly get infected. If an infected dog licks himself, his mouth can spread the disease.

And although it is rare, the disease can spread to humans who pet or groom the dog with bare hands. An infected dog is a danger to everyone, and cannot live a normal life.

  12. No onehas been able to explain to me (in any rational way) why we have a need to import dogs into North America from anywhere. Put a male and female dog into a space and they’re usually quite happy to provide you with a replacement dog. Importation of these overseas rescue dogs should never have been allowed.

  13. today’s skill testing Q:

who do I take an iron pipe to if my boy gets sick form this or a host of invasive pathogens?
