    1. It is funny watching and listening to people who actually believe the electric car is a new thing. They been continuously available since 1832; always been there, always been for sale, always been available in most countries of the world, never been many takers.

And I don’t see it changing.

Cars displaced horses; electrics did not. “In 1880, New York City removed 15,000 dead horses from its streets.” https://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/06/09/when-horses-posed-a-public-health-hazard/

Internal Combustion Engine cars are safer, easier, and better all around that horses were. Funny how the electric car been around longer, and has just never been able to gain the market acceptance…

      Yeah, the “future”, … riiiiggghhht.

  1. I’ll take my VW TDI Diesel over that death trap of an electrical car everyday of the week…

        1. for sure the old ones rode like a lumber wagon, but can be overcome. With some upgrades etc. From an era when they made real 4×4 not the electronic garbage we have now. 6×6 would work as well.

L- Could the Fed. Liberal gov’t and the Quebec gov’t. please explain again; why they believe buying oil from Saudi Arabia is more “ethical” than oil from Western Canada ?

Who has been bought off might be an interesting inquiry, but who could we trust to do that?
    Don’t all speak at once.

    1. CBC reports that the NDP government in B.C. will offer tax credits for LNG projects. Gee an NDP government offers taxpayer money for gas projects but opposes a pipeline from Alberta. That is so “progressive”.

    2. Kenney says he is going to turn off oil going to BC. Oh dear not those Tankers Full of Oil again. The hilarious part, US oil Tankers are up and down the BC coast constantly from Alaska.
The US ships 100M barrels a year down the coast to the lower 48 by tanker. BC can buy their oil at full world price per barrel from the Yanks. Soon they will be back to Rickshaws. Hopefully Kenney shuts down the BC pipeline crossing Alberta at the same time.

    1. Yep – Human Rights Commissions should investigate and present the case to a judge under normal rules of evidence. And their investigations should be limited to government, landlords, employers, and commercial establishments with which the complainant has calculable financial interest. No ordering of rights to make queerness more important than Christianity. And no payments to snowflakes with hurt feelings.

  8. America’s 233-Year-Old Shock at Jihad
    By Raymond Ibrahim

Exactly 233 years ago this week, two of America’s founding fathers documented their first exposure to Islamic jihad in a letter to Congress; like many Americans today, they too were shocked at what they learned.

Context: in 1785, Muslim pirates from North Africa, or “Barbary,” had captured two American ships, the Maria and Dauphin, and enslaved their crews. In an effort to ransom the enslaved Americans and establish peaceful relations, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams — then ambassadors to France and England respectively — met with Tripoli’s ambassador to Britain, Abdul Rahman Adja. Following this diplomatic exchange, they laid out the source of the Barbary States’ hitherto inexplicable animosity to American vessels in a letter to Congress dated March 28, 1786:

We took the liberty to make some inquiries concerning the grounds of their [Barbary’s] pretentions to make war upon nations who had done them no injury, and observed that we considered all mankind as our friends who had done us no wrong, nor had given us any provocation. The ambassador answered us that it was founded on the laws of their Prophet, that it was written in their Koran, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as prisoners, and that every Musselman who should be slain in battle was sure to go to Paradise

  10. On Physiognomy

Chickens will literally peck to death any chicken that fails to meet a certain standard within the flock and that cattle will socially ostracize an unfit calf or cow regardless of how long it remains with the herd. Farmers and ranchers have long known of this phenomenon and often rely on their flocks and herds to help them cull out those that fail to make the fit.

Of course human beings are not farm animals and this is by no means a tract on how we should treat those examples of our own species that fail to meet the standards, although our society has numerous avenues for doing just that, like the justice system and the media. Currently we are experiencing a period where both of those organs of the State ae working at precisely the opposite of their intent, searching out the most fit, the healthiest, the beautiful and the talented in order to promote the weakest, the most corrupted and unhealthy examples at the expense of the rest.

  11. Cuthand: We must stand against white supremacy

The recent terrorist attack in New Zealand is another example of the growing terrorism movement based on white supremacy.

    DOUG CUTHAND, SASKATOON STARPHOENIX
    Updated: March 23, 2019

The recent terrorist attack in New Zealand is another example of the growing terrorism movement based on white supremacy. It’s getting worse and steps must be taken to confront it.

The fact that U.S. President Donald Trump refuses to call it out and even mention it speaks volumes for the movement’s growth and acceptance worldwide. The U.S. has ceased to be a moral global leader, if in fact it ever was one.

So how does one define white supremacy?

White supremacy is the belief that white people are superior to all other races of people and should be dominant over them. It’s difficult to speculate when it began. The medieval crusades were the Europeans’ attempt to conquer the Holy Land in the name of White Christendom. When Columbus washed up on the shores of a Caribbean Island, he took several of the local inhabitants back to Spain to have them examined to see if they were human. The church declared them human but inferior.

White supremacy is a part of our history, our government institutions, our school curriculum and even the Christian religion. If you look up on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, you will see God depicted as an old white man. Over the years, pictures of Jesus Christ have been that of a blue-eyed white man instead of the dark-skinned reality of people living in the Middle East.

White supremacy has always been with us and change is slow to come. It’s based on fear and ignorance with right-wing politicians all too happy to throw more fuel on the fire.

We have already felt the sting of white supremacy in Canada with the mosque killing in Quebec and the fallout over the acquittal of Gerald Stanley in the killing of Colten Boushie. We must be vigilant against hatred and racism that lead to genocidal acts of violence.

To do anything less is not fair to our Muslim brothers and sisters. We must support them because they have come to our country in search of peace. We can’t forget that when it comes to the scourge of white supremacy, what happens to one applies to us all.

    https://leaderpost.com/opinion/columnists/cuthand-we-must-stand-against-white-supremacy/wcm/f7cbe868-0563-4335-bd8a-c6bfb7ba48ff

    1. The scare mongering around white supremacists is unwarranted. Many things that are not in fact white supremicism are being labeled that, and the stats around killings related to white supremacism are deliberately misleading. Someone has agenda to exaggerate the issue. What is unfortunate is that many people who are concerned about racial strife and the immigration process get dismissed as “white supremacists.” The author does it when he deliberately slurs Conservative politicians by suggesting they are contributing to the problem. This just contributes to divisiveness.

    2. “growing terrorism movement based on white supremacy.”

One loon in the world and it’s a growing trend?? Seriously? Tens of thousands of Christians are butchered in this world in the last few years and no-one gives a flying fig.

  12. Federal funding helps increase security at Muslim places of worship

With hate-motivated crimes on the rise at religious centres around the world, the federal government has allocated funding to enhance security around places of worship.

The funding will support two projects in Ottawa. One will fund the installation of a security camera system inside and outside the Ottawa Muslim Association on Northwestern Avenue. The other will fund the same camera system at the association’s Hall of Peace. The funding — $46,000 — covers the security assessment and training on the use of security equipment and falls under the Communities at Risk: Security Infrastructure Program (SIP).

Catherine McKenna, minister of environment and climate change and MP for Ottawa Centre, made the announcement Monday on behalf of Ralph Goodale, minister of public safety and emergency preparedness.

“Recent incidents are a jarring reminder that the inclusive and generous Canada we all want is now, and ever will be, a precious and delicate work-in-progress that we dare not take for granted,” Goodale said in a written statement. “The Security Infrastructure Program is an important initiative to help protect all Canadians’ right to be free to practice their faith and culture without fear. There is no social license for hate, not in Canada.”

The funds received from Government of Canada will help the Association increase security around its properties, which protect worshippers and visitors to the mosque and provide a safe environment to offer prayers and perform religious practice.”

When combined with existing funding, SIP will invest up to $10 million over the next five years. Each year, $2 million will be available to help support not-for-profit organizations make needed security improvements.

  13. Hanes: Anjou councillor’s anti-Muslim comments are downright dangerous

Lynne Shand’s hateful social media post over the weekend should be a reminder that words matter in these troubling times.

    ALLISON HANES, MONTREAL GAZETTE
    Updated: March 26, 2019

But a week later, it’s back to business as usual when it comes to Muslim bashing, casual hate and unrepentant ignorance.

An Anjou borough councillor vented her frustration over the weekend about being treated by an ophthalmologist wearing a hijab. In a now-deleted Facebook post and thread of comments, Lynne Shand wrote: “I am raging because this is really the Islamization of our country, we must accept everything, give them reasonable accommodations, take down our crucifix (and I’m not a believer) etc etc.”

Never mind that the care she received was “excellent”; Shand said she would have refused to be seen by the veiled physician if it hadn’t been an emergency. Though she declared herself “far from being a racist,” Shand called wearing a headscarf “extremist just like white supremacists.”

She went on to say that Muslims are trying to take over the world through immigration and procreation, noting whenever she encounters a woman in hijab, she is usually pushing a baby stroller.

There is so much that’s wrong with Shand’s words, it’s hard to know where to begin unpacking them.

There’s the hypocrisy of calling yourself a feminist while judging a doctor on her appearance. There’s the slapping of the “not racist” disclaimer on her post, which is usually a surefire sign that the comment about to be made is racist. There’s the double standard of decrying the religious dress of minorities while justifying the dominance of Christian symbols and claiming to be secular. There is the extremely insensitive timing of her outburst, coming on the heels of a mass murder by a gunman who published an anti-Muslim, anti-immigration manifesto. There’s the fear-mongering about Islamization and the dehumanization of trafficking in stereotypes. Irresponsible words. Hateful words.

Then there is Shand’s response to the backlash from Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante, Anjou borough mayor Luis Miranda, the Muslim community and the general public.

Shand spoke to various media simultaneously claiming her words were misinterpreted and doubling down on her statements. If she is Islamophobic, then Plante is “Christianophobic” for last week announcing the removal of the crucifix from the Montreal council chamber. On Sunday Shand changed the cover photo on her public Facebook page to a meme (in French) reading: “Fake people have an image to maintain. Authentic people don’t care.” Then on Monday she offered a “profound” apology to “all those my words might have hurt or offended” while claiming she was just standing up for feminism and state neutrality. Sorry/not sorry.

But worst of all, Shand’s words are downright dangerous. As an elected official with a public platform, her pronouncements contribute to the legitimization of resentment toward Muslims, especially in a city as diverse as Montreal or a borough as multicultural as Anjou. A person doesn’t have to be an extremist themselves for their words to fuel extremism. If there were any ambiguity after Quebec City about what horrors can come from poisoning the public discourse, there can be no doubt after Christchurch.

    Unfortunately, talk is cheap.

Shand’s views echo those of Quebec’s minister for the status of women. In February, in her first comments in her new portfolio, Isabelle Charest called the hijab a form of oppression and said it doesn’t correspond to her values. Divisive words.

  15. The Making of a Monster: We’re All Lab Rats in the Government’s Secret Experiments

To the architects of the American police state, we are not worthy or vested with inherent rights. This is how the government can justify treating us like economic units to be bought and sold and traded, or caged rats to be experimented upon and discarded when we’ve outgrown our usefulness.

To those who call the shots in the halls of government, “we the people” are merely the means to an end.

“We the people”—who think, who reason, who take a stand, who resist, who demand to be treated with dignity and care, who believe in freedom and justice for all—have become obsolete, undervalued citizens of a totalitarian state that, in the words of Rod Serling, “has patterned itself after every dictator who has ever planted the ripping imprint of a boot on the pages of history since the beginning of time. It has refinements, technological advances, and a more sophisticated approach to the destruction of human freedom.”

In this sense, we are all Romney Wordsworth, the condemned man in Serling’s Twilight Zone episode “The Obsolete Man.”

“The Obsolete Man” speaks to the dangers of a government that views people as expendable once they have outgrown their usefulness to the State. Yet—and here’s the kicker—this is where the government through its monstrous inhumanity also becomes obsolete. As Serling noted in his original script for “The Obsolete Man,” “Any state, any entity, any ideology which fails to recognize the worth, the dignity, the rights of Man…that state is obsolete.”

How do you defeat a monster? You start by recognizing the monster for what it is.

Glad to learn that FNC has come to its senses. The Judge’s show is one of the best on this channel. The above link is the opening statement that got her removed from the Saturday evening lineup albeit for only two weekends. Her statement is truthful and powerful – not unusual for her and very much her usual refreshing style.

In the link provided by the ‘Gateway Pundit’ there are some interesting comments- only less than 50 so far, as I read it, and I agree with the ones that have said that when Judge Jeanine returns on Saturday she :
      (1) should come back swinging and
      (2) with no apologies

I will cancel FNC from my cable subscription if they ever go far left like CNN or MSNBC. There will be no need of it.
