Cooking a roast dinner produces levels of dangerous airborne particles comparable to those found in the world’s most polluted cities, a study has found.
 
Roasting a turkey lifted the concentration of smog-like particulate pollution in a home well beyond levels recorded on streets in inner London or Beijing, the most comprehensive study so far of cooking emissions found.
 
With turkey dinners cooked on gas stoves, levels of PM2.5 particles, which can travel deep into the lungs, climbed above 200 micrograms per cubic metre.

      1. The article uses the term “smog-like particulate pollution”.
        Particulate made of what? Water vapor and vegetable oil?

        As others have noted, PM 2.5 pollution is junk science, but even if not, particulate made of water vapor and vegetable oil can’t be as bad as particulate made of ash or asbestos.

  3. There was a ‘study” done years ago at the U of Manitoba, may have been a joke,but the scientists claimed that vegetables were sentient and could “feel”. They claimed that they recorded carrots screaming when plunged into a pot of boiling water.

    Now,we know that lobsters,the main staple of us ordinary folk here in Canader, scream when plunged into boiling water ( and yes,I know it’s just air escaping from their shells, but that fact screws the narrative) ,so now every time I roast a turkey, a polar bear drowns?

    But, what about feelings? the study doesn’t take into account all-important feelings,and I LIKE roast turkey,chicken,beef, and barbecued steaks and ribs and the occasional dog in a moment of cultural appropriation, so what about MY goddamned feelings! As a gay,black, transgendered not-sure -what-the-hell-I-am, my feelings are important.

    So,to the anti-meat crowd, fuck you, my feelings are more PC than yours.

Amazing isn’t it the Population increase among the Very Polluted countries continue to grow and the Quodian Intelligence of overcrowded Asian & Indo Nations__ not North American allowed and paid to wander free from earning anything __ increases with every polluting protein rich piece of meat—especially cattle-based-except in the Religious areas which worship rats___ after non-religious dogma is added to the Curriculum of Children.

  6. But this only applies to those who cook their roast on the manifold of their vehicle’s engine. A 3 hour road trip and you don’t have to stop at a fast food place. For less money, than a fast food supper, you and your family can enjoy a pot roast.

  7. So those delicious smells in the house when my mother cooked meat were actually deadly pollution that shortened my life??? CHILD ABUSE!!!

    My mother died at age 98 and my father made it to 102. Imagine how long they would have lived if only they hadn’t cooked meat all those years!
