Does it really make sense to divert police resources away from taking guns away from criminals to taking guns away from honest people? Sounds like it would make the situation worse.
They only thing that makes sense to the Liberals is to distract the electorate from the facts by provoking a big game of uproar and getting re-elected. Of course they know that any more “gun control” can only affect the guns that are already under control, not being used for crime, and they know that trying to address the real causes of the criminal violence that is committed with guns (so long as they are available but would be still be committed with other weapons if the government could ever stop the supply of guns to criminals – which they can’t,) would alienate the voters to whom they have promised ease and self-indulgence at the expense of someone, anyone, else.
Unfortunately, at present the only thing that makes sense to the Conservative Party is try to present a different version of the same scam to get elected, and kid themselves that once they are in power, then they will be able to turn conservative and change things. (To a few, like Max Bernier, it seems desperate enough to try to present conservative policies to the voters before the election, really convince them before hand, in hope that will make a difference and save the country. The only reason to hope that could work is that it hasn’t been tried yet.)
It’s a distraction, really. Because while everyone is fumbling around over this, other things are not being noticed.
Yes, this is an unnecessary witch-hunt that will do little (if anything) for public safety and will be another Liberal, billion-dollar (probably much worse) boondoggle, but it also distracts both sides from things like the incompetence, ineptitude, and likely malfeasance of the country’s CEO.

Look at any justice proceedings and see the remands, delays, rescheduling followed by months of trial with puny sentences for the most part. What happened to Bissonnette and Boyle? The billions wasted on lawyers and the courts is just sickening. I was called to jury duty for a man who stabbed and murdered another of our diversity brothers. All the court has to prove is that they have the right guy, estimated time to do this 1-2 months. Thousands more from Nigeria, Somalia, Haiti and every other shit hole are pouring over our border and we think we have shootings and murders now, just wait.
