Tell Prime Minister Trudeau I send my kind regards. Maybe we can work things out over some maple syrup, smoked salmon and legal cannabis from Marc Emery? Also, sorry for the U.S. government putting Marc Emery in prison over pot seeds.

President Trump might be an idiot, but don’t worry, America loves you Canada!

An Alaskan Democrat writing a letter to editor in a St. John’s NL commie newspaper. WTF???

    1. Good article. It is unfortunate that Quiggen is not regularly interviewed by the media about the terrorist threat. Of course it is because they will not like what he has to say– yet he is exceptionally well informed. Check out his videos.

      1. Tom Quiggin is a former military intelligence officer (I know him).

That gives him the advantage of having been somewhat more removed from the day-to-day government politicking that CSIS analysts routinely have to work through (I know them too).

(Our national intelligence system is a disaster of course, built on legacy organizational silos jealous of their own perqs and privileges. It’s sometimes a wonder we get anything done at all. And don’t get me started about CSEC!)

  2. I’m still trying to get my head around the story of the poor German tourist who was shot in the head as he drove his rented car 55 km west of Calgary. The man who allegedly shot him has been released without charges in what police say may have been a case of mistaken identity.

    http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/german-tourist-shot-calgary-life-changing-injuries-1.4784648

Mistaken identity? Was the man released planning on shooting someone else in the head but made a mistake or did he think the car was a moose on the highway?

    1. “Mistaken identity?”

If his grandparents went to a residential school he was as good as innocent regardless.

      1. I have to believe that the Cochrane man originally arrested has been released because it became clear that he did not commit this crime.
Either that or the Mounties are engaged in some spy novel style sting where the guy won’t disappear and will eventually slip up and give them incontrovertible evidence.

Did the CBC even ask if the car the Mounties grabbed is the correct vehicle? Did they give it back when they released the Cochrane man? Does the Cochrane man own a firearm?
A disgusting crime and shoddy reporting of it.

  3. The CBC is defending the Liberal government over the Saudi Arabia debacle. Seems it was John Baird’s fault all along and Trump had better be careful (if you believe the comments section). The article disputes the diplomacy by Twitter arguing substantial behind the scenes discussions during both Harper’s and Trudeau’s terms. Of course, because Harper was involved, nobody can criticize Trudeau.

    http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/badawi-saudi-trudeau-freeland-1.4785075

No comment (or criticism) of the fact the Trudeau government went from behind the scenes to Twitter and that was when the poop hit the fan. But when you’re goal is to defend Trudeau such facts are irrelevant. This is quite common of CBC, to bring in the Harper government to justify the actions of the current government when it has been criticized.

    1. Does not really matter what Harper’s government and Baird did in the past. Maybe it is the criticism from a female that is insulting to them. Regardless, the Trudeau government is now responsible for fixing the problem. An apology from Freeland (or firing) would go a long way towards making amends.

      1. Putting aside my dislike for our Dear Leader and his silly children’s crusade of a government, why should Canada be apologizing to Saudi Arabia?

They’re the ones having the tantrum here. Screw ’em. And if I had the chance, I’d tell Baird where he could go too.

        1. We should apologize because we are the ones getting screwed by the Saudis. We need that to stop. Since they are governed by Sharia and the tweet was insensitive to that, a case can be made that we insulted them. Now if your only measure is western values, you can stand against the Saudis, but it would be a pyrrhic victory. We cannot change their views, so best to just solve the practical issues here — like losing all those interns. Apologize and have done with it.

      2. I agree,Linda. Have thought all along if some Syrian or Pakistani in the government had done the insulting, it would have been brushed off, but a WOMAN and in PUBLIC – good grief not acceptable.

    2. There was criticism, from the family. The Calgary Herald covered it under National news written by Corbella.
I linked to it in reader’s tips as did others on other blogs like cat fur. the article / interview seems to be gone.

Freeland compels the whip, a full 1000.

“Would they use Twitter if it was their father?” she asked wisely.
“No, they would not. They would talk quietly, but for my father they make a big problem.”
      https://calgaryherald.com/news/national/corbella-family-of-jailed-saudi-blogger-angry-over-trudeau-government-tweets

      Freeland must volunteer herself.

        1. Fexelent! Did you have to enter the PressReader site to see it? Or were you able to find it first on a search engine and then enter PressReader? If from a search engine, which one, and does your computer think its Canadian or American? (that part can be toggled in google)
First time on pressReader for me.
          Thanks BJG!

  4. MAGA.

    …-

“July Retail Sales Rock, Productivity Soars Above Expectations, Manufacturing Businesses Booming

Buoyant consumer sentiment boosted retail sales more than expected in July, while bigger than expected productivity gains point toward lower inflation and possible wage gains.

Retail sales, which are the total receipts at stores that sell merchandise and related services to final consumers, rose 0.5 percent in July, according to data released by the Commerce Department Wednesday. Economists had expected sales to rise by just 0.1 percent.

The sales numbers were so strong that they exceeded the top range of expectations of economists surveyed by Bloomberg.

Outside of auto and gas sales, retail sales grew an even stronger 0.6 percent.”

  5. Kate or someone needs to run a ” Most In The Tank For The Liberal Party Canadian Journalist Of The Year”!
Can you imagine the huge number of contestants?
    The close,fiery competition?
    The dirty dealings?
    I’ll even supply the name:

    The Groovy Groper Groupee Award!

    And the first nominee:

Toronto Red Star star and CBC filler extraordinaire Chantel Hebert!!!

    Her latest Liberal paean:
    https://www.thestar.com/opinion/star-columnists/2018/08/13/heres-why-canadians-deserve-a-federal-election-this-fall.html

Joined by several of her colleagues in excusing a snap election.

Canadian “journalists” have surely set a world record these past 3 years for columns supporting and/or excusing a Government.

    Such world-class shame deserves illumination.

    1. Canadian “journalists” have surely set a world record these past 3 years for columns supporting and/or excusing a Government.

Hardly. The American mass media, with the possible exception of Fox, for eight years were nothing more than apologists for Obama. Just that one outlet stuck in Obama’s craws so much that he called it out as much as Trump does CNN. He expected nothing less than universal obsequiousness.

And Trudeau can only dream of matching the litany of mistakes under Obama: the billions for “stimulus package” that vanished without any visible effect, the horror of a healthcare package that did not let you keep your doctor or carrier, the tons of enriched uranium given to a Russia that the mass media now declares an enemy, the billions of dollars given to Iran for an unverifiable agreement, initiating the policy of separating illegal alien that the mass media now calls fascist, the apology tour which included bowing to the waist to the king of KSA … and those are only the most egregious ones I can think of off the top of my head. (I don’t really think that illegal alien policy is all that egregious, but the mass media thinks so, so they should at least agree on that.) And hardly anything but adulation from the mass media.

      1. Old Bruin:

        Boy are you lucky!
You’ve obviously never seen the Star, the Globe, the CBC, CTV, Global, City, the Herald, the Chronicle Herald, anything ever written or shown in the Maritimes or Quebec……….

So much fake news to look forward to!
        Enjoy.

  6. According to Julie Lalonde, an educator who has provided anti-harassment training to Liberal and NDP MPs: “… the victim … accepted his apology and she’s over it…” (This is a lie.)
Conservative MP Michelle Rempel: “I’ve watched Trudeau turf caucus members over sexual harassment allegations, even when the alleged victims didn’t want him to take action… Trudeau… didn’t apply the same criteria he used for everyone else to himself.”
The e-petition remains open for signatures until Nov. 29.

  7. Let’s blame “climate change!”
Catherine McKenna says the government isn’t specifically looking at ways to improve reporting rates of municipalities Doing Nothing!
Swim Drink Fish Canada, says only 159 of the 269 municipal systems that are required to report actually did in 2017.
Data provided to The Canadian Press recently showed over one trillion litres of raw sewage leaked into Canadian waterways between 2013 and 2017, including 215 billion litres in 2017 alone. (Of course this doesn’t include the 110 municipal systems that file no reports.)
Most cities only report calculated data based on computer models of how much sewage is expected to leak when a certain amount of rain falls https://www.nationalnewswatch.com/2018/08/15/climate-change-likely-to-cause-more-sewage-leaks-mckenna-says/#.W3RmysIna01
And, of course, Victoria just straight pipes 130 million litres of raw effluent daily into the Juan de Fuca Strait. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/british-columbia/victoria-sewer-dispute-hits-the-fan-as-washington-state-urges-bc-intervene/article19131685/
    And that’s a whole can a poop.

  8. We are winning:

    https://www.redstate.com/brandon_morse/2018/08/13/sjws-flip-doom-eternal-mocks-leftist-political-correctness-immigration/

“While this AI only appears several times throughout the gory video, when she does she spouts things that sound an awful lot like what a politically correct, sterilized, social justice figure would say. Apparently, her job is to encourage humans to greet the monstrous demons that have found their way into our realm with kindness and acceptance.

Within the video she can be heard rattling off phrases such as “my brothers and sisters, let’s help top make our friends transition into our world a comfortable one,” or “remember: ‘Demon’ can be an offensive term, refer to them as ‘mortally challenged.’””

    Politics is downstream from culture.

    1. Not really. We need to stop judging our ancestors by today’s standards. We also need to stop trying to undo history.
