If Trudeau dares to come down on anyone else for similar allegations, he needs to be called on it. They are quiet for now, but undoubtedly there will be another opportunity. I am especially curious about his dismissal as a drama teacher which (intimations suggest) was also related to sexually inappropriate behaviour. That is more serious as it would have involved a teacher/student relationship. Now standards have changed and people have grown up (sometimes), but much of that is being ignored when other, lesser personages are involved. The double standard is not acceptable, but there is little that can be done, without honest journalism in the country.

Further to my comment below, I also heard rumours about certain people at my institution whose relationships with some of their students was less than arm’s-length. Because of who they were in the system, and, possibly, of who they knew, there wasn’t much done about it.

I’m reminded of something I heard while I was teaching at a certain post-secondary institution.
There were rumours about a certain department head who wasn’t, shall we say, a gentleman. But, because of where he was born, nothing was done. If anybody filed a complaint, all he had to do was pull out the race card and he was let off the hook. In addition, he knew the “right” people at the institution and, so, probably had immunity anyway.
