Einstein Quotes vs. The Modern Leftist Mind

Even though copious amounts of evidence have shown that there is absolutely no connection between the Tucson shooter and conservatives or the Tea Party or Sarah Palin or talk radio, masochistic leftists keep on trying to make them. It’s truly pathetic.
Whenever you read the misguided screeds of these loathsome trolls, remember these prescient quotations from Albert Einstein:

  • Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I’m not sure about the former.
  • A man should look for what is, and not for what he thinks should be. Information is not knowledge.
  • Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with important matters.

Or, to paraphrase something Charles Krauthammer recently said: “The origins of Loughner’s delusions are clear: mental illness. What are the origins of the Leftist delusions?”

  1. Exactly. ‘A man should look for what is and not for what he thinks should be’. This is the famous difference between IS and OUGHT.
The left live in a virtual world, a fictional world of utopian images. They reject the real world as it is now, and their agenda is to remould the world into ‘what it ought to be’.
    They live in the World-of-Ought.
The right live in the real world, an objective world of existent things, events, people. They are aware of the imaginary ideals but have the courage and the reasoning ability to know that fact and fiction, or is and ought, are two different realms.
    They live in the World-of-Is.
The problem with living in the World-of-Ought, that fictional utopia, is that those who busy themselves doing all this imaginary thinking, set themselves up as authorities and rulers. They insist that everyone accept their imagined mode of life. This requires FORCE.
So, the left has to censor people, prevent questions, silence debate and dissent, refuse arguments. They do this by rule, by peer pressure, by theocratic force and by military force. We’ve seen it again and again.
The problem with this mode of life is that reality intrudes; life is not and can never be a utopian perfection. Fascism, communism, socialism – they all consider that If Only All People do such and such…then utopia would exist. It won’t.
The people of OUGHT are arrogant in their certainty; the people of IS have the gift of humility. They know they are human and cannot transform the world of facts into the unreal world of fiction.

  2. We all knew this was coming. During the failed Christmas bomber. The hags at the View, & other Liberals even said they had hoped it was Right winger not an Islamic event. Now they manufacture a story from the mind of a nut, into some Politically driven mindless acolyte of the right.
This was the final squirt of Journalism. They have lost ALL credibility. Even among the denizens of their own deranged World.
Extinction has just closed in Marxist boys & girls of the ink well. Real dragons are coming to eat you.

  3. I just watched the memorial service. My first thought after was, they can’t let it go.They have given themselves an opportunity to advance their agenda, and even though they must know that it is immoral, they still latch on to the possibility that the ledger will show a plus.

An example of this behaviour shows up in addicts. Even though they are reaching for something that will hurt them, they live in the moment, going for the instant gratification. The remorse and guilt is for tomorrow, they will deal with it then.

We shouldn’t let that happen. They must be bludgeoned with reality today.

T-shirts at a memorial service,my god. Where were the glowsticks?

  4. Posted on the other thread:
There are, to be sure, genuine reasons to politically critique Sarah Palin – particularly in the area of her experience. However, on balance, this former Governor has shown that she has accomplished much with the limited experience that she has. She has consistently risen to all challenges thrown at her and has come out ahead.
I remember thinking that when she resigned from the Governorship that she would pay a hefty price and that maybe this one time her opponents would gain an advantage over her. It seems in retrospect that she now has a much larger political influence than she would have had, had she stayed in Alaska and battled those lawsuits. To whom does she owe thanks for helping (in an indirect way) her achieve a much larger national political voice?
To those who had done their homework on this amazing lady, there would be no surprise in expecting that she would soon provide a quality speech regarding the recent happenings in Arizona – a speech that any fair observer could describe as “Presidential”. She would not disappoint in at least equalling Obama’s best speechwriters in their best attempt to bring a Presidential tone to the matter. This undeclared contest would be watched by the nation because – despite her avoiding the question of Presidential aspirations – there is a contest even now between Obama and top Republican 2012 Presidential candidates, Palin being only one of them. Even though she was disadvantaged in that she was attacked much more than Obama was, I had full confidence that she would be able to take on his best speechwriters and come out on top. She did not disappoint. That her performance in this task was a pleasant surprise to some on the right speaks more of those on the right who had not done all their research than it does about Sarah Palin.
Some have focused on some of the most vicious attacks on the left; others have suggested the beginning of a paradigm shift. Well, I do not know about a paradigm shift – it seems much too early to tell at this point. However, I will give one anecdotal story that describes a shift for one couple. I read about it on another blog, the blog is by subscription so I cannot provide a link. One of the commenters describes his Louisianna neighbours as having voted for Obama and are liberal arts university professor types – both the husband and the wife.
This couple is rapidly turning away from the MSM and Obama; they simply cannot understand why the MSM is giving more airtime to Sarah Palin than they are to the family of a dead 9 year old girl. They are not so ridiculously leftist that they think Sarah Palin is responsible for the shooting, but they are reasonable enough to understand the logic that if there is a question about cause between a named Republican (Palin) and Giffords, then there must also be a question of cause between a Democrat and the conservative and life-long Republican Judge John Roll who died in the shooting.
Reasonable conservatives should not be disappointed that we will never sway the entire electorate our way. We should remember that not all who voted Democrat in 2008 were actually voting for Obama; there was an anti-Bush feeling that will not be present in 2012. If Governor Palin handles this as well as I expect her to handle it, then her popularity will go up with that 5%-9% of the electorate that needs to swing between 2008 and 2012 to the Republicans. I have always suspected that if Obama won the White House, we would never have to worry about a 2nd Obama term. It’s much too early at this point to say for sure, but Obama is on target to fulfilling my expectation of him; it seems the MSM is helping out in an unexpected way. This blame-Loughner-on-Palin idea will certainly backfire on the MSM with that 5%-9% of the electorate.
My condolences to the families and friends of the deceased and wounded.

  5. Could leftist behavior and cocaine consumption have some relativity? After all somebody must be “takin’ in all that blow besides jazz musicians and crack ‘hos.” “Sorry chief, I meant to say rec pharma”.

  6. That ABC news is reporting on the “blood libel” garbage, but saying she isn’t anti-semetic but too ignorant to understand the implications of such a term.. well it makes me angry and scared.
I have never in my life read such a steaming pile of pure garbage that’s actually trying to be passed off as unbiased journalism. That this passes for NEWS is beyond me. How can they expect people to keep tuning in or clicking on their sites? Don’t they notice the steep decline in ratings? Don’t they understand this BullS&|t is the reason? Don’t they care? Do they ACTUALLY believe that it IS unbiased reporting?
What is going on lately? The downfall of news organizations, the rise of global warming crap, the sheer idiocy of commentators on the news sites, the hippocracy of the left in regards to political rhetoric…..
When did I wake up to everyone being double-plus unsmart? Are people stupid or just too lazy to think anymore? You don’t even need to research to know this stuff is wrong, you just have to think – don’t you?
Is there something I’m not eating or drinking or smoking or snorting or injecting that could make me as blissfully ignorant as the general public – at least on the left – appear to be? What happened to sense (I won’t say commonsense ever again – there is no such thing.) What happened to respect?
Does anyone else find this kinda scary? Can it go back to the way it was?

  7. ET, I believe the world of ought/is symbolism is right on the mark, however the world of ought seems to be spreading like cancer, and the world of is seems to sit there and wait for the dreamers to wake up to reality.
It’s not gunna happen. So we better start making noise to wake them up. As long as government is buying votes by taking from those who live in reality to fund the non-productive careers and better lives of the virtual world, the virtual world will have a bigger, more tempting voice.
kate says it all the time, not showing up to protest is a failed conservative policy. It appears it’s equivalent to lying down and letting them walk all over us.

  8. Today I heard Dennis Prager & Michael Medved, both of the Jewish faith, talking about Palin’s use of the term “blood libel”. They both said that while they would have preferred she not use that particular term, it really wasn’t far off the mark. Prager suggested that “murder libel” would be spot on.
Just a guess, but I bet that Palin knew exactly what “blood libel” meant. Now everyone is focused on whether Leftist pundits have libeled conservatives. In point of fact, they have.
Remember when Palin used “death panels” and everyone on the Left condemned her for it? Numerous examples since then have proven her to be 100% correct.

  9. Not much of a bet Robert W. You can rest assured she knows exactly what she’s saying at all times. She’s smarter than this collective working against her, and she should be the next POTUS, however the left and the media might destroy her enough among the willing ignorant to get them riled up to vote – not for their side, but against ours.

  10. Pamela Geller had something to say regarding Sarah Palin’s use of the term “blood libel”… all supportive, and I think she knows a thing or two regarding that topic.

  11. ET, good points about the distinction between those people who live in imaginary worlds compared to those who ascribe to the concept of an objective reality. I would differ, however, with your “right/left” distinctions as what I’ve noticed is that city dwellers are insulated from objective reality whereas those who live in small towns/country are more likely to be in direct contact with external reality.
Even the mere fact of owning a house in contrast to renting means that the house owner has to deal with a myriad of events that a city renter calls the building manager about and the problems are magically fixed.
I’ve found a huge difference in how people think moving from downtown Vancouver to a much smaller center. People where I live now might vote for the NDP provincially but they’re far less likely to have the severe derangements of reality testing that I saw in many Vancouver residents. It’s possible to believe in impossibilities in Vancouver and not get killed as a result of these deranged beliefs.
What I’ve also noticed is that individuals who aren’t in contact with objective reality are also very ignorant of science. WUWT has had some recent posts on the abysmal state of science knowledge in university students; material which was expected to be known in high school 30-40 years ago. I’ve asked people in Vancouver simple questions like how their cell phones work and, for all practical purposes, it is magic since they haven’t a clue about radio transmitters, digitization of speech and keeping track of where peoples cell phones are. When much of everyday city reality is “magic”, it is simple to slip into magical thinking about other areas of life as there are no immediate penalties for doing so.
Perhaps the solution is to take city kids, dump them on a remote farm out of cell phone range and let them survive on their own for a few weeks. A good dose of unfiltered reality would probably change thinking patterns in a positive way.

I think they wrote a book about that called “Lord of the Flies”.

  13. Sorry loki, I guess I misunderstood this line:
dump them on a remote farm out of cell phone range and let them survive on their own for a few weeks
    I must be really tired.

  14. “What are the origins of the Leftist delusions?”
Historically it appears to be a matter of deep personality disorder. Leftist revisionism, clannish dogma and ideologic mythos allows the delusions of the psychotic to find a cause/political outlet.
When someone says the left are crazy, he’s not far off the mark.

  15. The progressive left are the offspring of the XY generation, like their parents they are self absorbed adults. However many from the ME generation will never grow up that’s why they need to control every aspect of societies’ lives. Self control, personal responsibility, morals and ethics do not appear to be normal dogma of the progressives. The progressive left blame society for the actions of the individual, it’s called the Human Condition. Progressive have many symptoms of being mentally ill or suffering from some kind of paraniod narcissistic psychosis.

  16. The other night I was watching Connect with Mark Kelley on CBC.
They pulled out the old Sarah Palin target map and talked about the heightened rhetoric…days after the shooting.
I thought it was too much so I e-mailed the show with my concerns…
To his credit he replied back to me directly…
    —-
Thanks for the email. Blaming us for politicising the shooting is rich.
Have you followed anything that has happened in Arizona in the past
year? I don’t blame anyone but Loughner for the shooting. And no one has
said he is a Tea Partier on our show. But the Republicans own candidate-
a Tea Partier- was abandoned by the GOP because of his views. There’s a
context worth mining in Arizona- and to discuss it makes me a lefty?
    Have we met?
As for your snide remarks about the technical problems, our system
crashed. Stuff happens. We don’t practice, nor preach perfection. We
just try our best. Maybe that approach reflects my own naivete.
    Cheers

  17. Jeff, I echo Rose’s praise of you to write Mark Kelley. A huge problem for folks on the Centre Left, like I perceive Kelley to be, is that they completely lack self-awareness of the bias of their own views. Combine this predilection with someone who is a “journalist” and you have someone who has convinced themselves that they have no bias. It’s a delusion, of course, because everyone has a bias.
I have little doubt that Kelley views you as a “right wing extremist”.
Imagine how he would view a situation if a conservative had been killed and someone had pointed out that the DNC had displayed a map with a bullseye across Arizona. Oh wait, a conservative judge WAS killed and the DNC DID display such a map! But drawing a connection there would be too ridiculous according to the Mark Kelley’s of the world.
    Hypocrisy, Hypocrisy, Hypocrisy!!!

  18. If liberals have to wallow in the filthiest depths of the sewer to promote their hate filled political agenda then maybe it isn’t worth promoting.
