It’s Not Easy Being Green

The faint hint of chartreuse climbing Jack Layton’s cheeks is not a reflection.

Leader Jack Layton’s call for tough emissions standards for new vehicles has hit a speed bump, with Canada’s biggest auto union warning the move could cost the struggling auto sector “thousands of jobs.”
Canadian Auto Workers president Buzz Hargrove says he was “taken aback” by Layton’s comments and rebuked the federal leader for not consulting with union leaders before making his demand for the new standards.
“It would have been helpful for you to have first consulted with the CAW on this important question before making your statement,” Hargrove wrote in a letter to Layton released yesterday.

And in other Jack Layton news – reaching out to Canada’s leading online anti-semitic community to help get their message out to Canadians should be just what the doctored ordered.
Update;

This should give Crawls with Caffeine and company more to blog about now that the NDP and Liberals are also “illegally colluding with bloggers in violation of the Elections act”. There’s never enough tinfoil around when you need it.

  1. Thats the NDP for for you, Ding and Bat can’t get together and both speak with forked tongues about climate change. Nothing changes with moonbats.

  2. Buzz is now the Liberals’ problem. Ha ha!
    Canada’s leading online anti-semitic community
Besides the title of a post that I wrote do you have any evidence to back this libelous claim?

  3. the great fallacy of the NDP being the party of working people is showing through once again…I gravitated to the ndp upon release from the army…all that working people stuff….then Ontario became zimbobrae, and look the f$%& out….I saw the light very quickly after that…up to and including losing my job to the dipper equity program…ya, thanks for nothing, dippers

  4. Mc-la-la-la! This is a truly special night, what with raving lunatic socialist re-education kamp kommandant wannabe’s trolling about and all.
    Who’s greener I wonder? Jack, or Y2Kyoto?

  5. McClelland, it’s only a matter of a few hours of copying and pasting from your sewage soaked brain dead lunatic fringe neighbourhood on the internet, the evidence is overwhelming. Why deny it? It is so obvious. You should stand tall and take pride in your Jew hate, it is fundamental to your party line and foreign policy vision.

  6. …raving lunatic socialist re-education kamp kommandant wannabe’s trolling…sewage soaked brain dead lunatic fringe neighbourhood on the internet…
You really should consider cleaning up this pigsty, Kate. It does nothing but give you a black eye.

  7. the invitation to join the NDP blogging community is just too good to pass up.
I think a few neutral posts to get accepted into the Mao suits and then let them have it.
think left, act left , none left.

  8. You really should consider cleaning up this pigsty, Kate. It does nothing but give you a black eye.
Unlike the left, Kate believes in free speech, not just speech she agrees with. So don’t worry Bobby boy, you’re safe.

  9. HAHAHAHA…..BEYOND Parody!
McLellend is priceless……..BTW did you see who the BDips have as an Icon for Leadership????
Yep …the retired Multi-millionaire and triple dipper in Canadians pockets …. Ed Broadbent…..where DID all the money come from Ed?

  10. Buzz is no longer an NDP’er – he’s a Liberal supporter. As such, he doesn’t want the NDP to overshadow Liberal environmental policies.
Union members do not vote en mass for the party that their union supports. They make up their own minds. If they didn’t, the NDP would have been in power a long time ago.

  11. Re BDips and their icon. Both the Dippers and the Libs are harking back to the “Glory Days”, of massive government enlargement and intrusion into our lives. They were leading the way into a newer, better future. Too bad reality got in the way.

  12. The one thing I noticed was the fact these dippers received one letter and they all jummped at it. I guess they were extatic that “someone” actually took the time to write something to them.Yaaaaa, we got a response…….what do we do now??

  13. Dion is promising to devastate Albertas oil sands, but Buzz says, under no circumstance mess with auto jobs. Time to bring out the bumber stickers, let eastern bastards freeze in the dark. I know its warm there now, but the cold will come, and please, don’t call out the army to help you. They are busy doing important things in Afgan.

  14. Please excuse spelling mistakes and any grammer errors………worked all day, tired, and don’t really give a shite what any would be english professors might have to say!

  15. They may make up their minds at the poll booth but they have no say where their money is spent.
The thing about the wacky alarmists is, so far, they don’t think they will be affected. They think only the Alberta oil patch will be and… who cares. (CBC quoted S. Dion saying they would have met their targets if not for Alberta) Soon though it will become inevitable that they too will have to pay dearly. Then the ‘science’ will become fuzzier and fuzzier. Till all of a sudden CBC and the rest will start reporting on…Global COOLING

  16. Jack Layton doesn’t have a clue in his head. Emissions are now so under control that BC is phasing out its testing program for new and newish vehicles because none or so few are being found with problems. It was every two years for newer vehicles.

  17. “You really should consider cleaning up this pigsty, Kate. It does nothing but give you a black eye.”
Robbie Mac. spreading the word for the NDP. Just how desperate can Taliban Jack be!
By the way Robbie, you are the only one with the pigsty. As long as you condone Tie-Dye’s malodorous and obnoxious snorting and snuffling on MY BLAAAAAAAHG, then you win the black eye honors hands down!

  18. A few thoughts from a true scientist in the NP.
Dr. Weiss believes that man-made greenhouse gases have recently had a role in warming the earth, although the extent of that role, he says, cannot yet be known. What is known, however, is that throughout earth’s history climate change has been driven by factors other than man: “Variable behaviour of the sun is an obvious explanation,” says Dr. Weiss, “and there is increasing evidence that Earth’s climate responds to changing patterns of solar magnetic activity.”
The sun’s most obvious magnetic features are sunspots, formed as magnetic fields rip through the sun’s surface. A magnetically active sun boosts the number of sunspots, indicating that vast amounts of energy are being released from deep within.
Typically, sunspots flare up and settle down in cycles of about 11 years. In the last 50 years, we haven’t been living in typical times: “If you look back into the sun’s past, you find that we live in a period of abnormally high solar activity,” Dr. Weiss states.
These hyperactive periods do not last long, “perhaps 50 to 100 years, then you get a crash,” says Dr. Weiss. ‘It’s a boom-bust system, and I would expect a crash soon.”
In addition to the 11-year cycle, sunspots almost entirely “crash,” or die out, every 200 years or so as solar activity diminishes. When the crash occurs, the Earth can cool dramatically. Dr. Weiss knows because these phenomenon, known as “Grand minima,” have recurred over the past 10,000 years, if not longer.
“The deeper the crash, the longer it will last,” Dr. Weiss explains. In the 17th century, sunspots almost completely disappeared for 70 years. That was the coldest interval of the Little Ice Age, when New York Harbour froze, allowing walkers to journey from Manhattan to Staten Island, and when Viking colonies abandoned Greenland, a once verdant land that became tundra. Also in the Little Ice Age, Finland lost one-third of its population, Iceland half.

  19. yo, western folk…slow down on the freeze in the dark talk…remember citoyen dion does not speak for all folks east of Manitoba…a few more defections in the GTA, and he will be resigned to the history books…so, until then, be nice!

  20. Buzz Hargrove is amazing! Reduce greenhouse gas emissions but in doing so don’t touch the auto industry. Get after the oil and gas industry, the power plants, the livestock but don’t touch the trucks and SUVs. What hypocracy!!

  21. Dion is not speaking to Westerners; he’s not interested in getting votes from the West. He’s speaking to Quebecers first, and Ontarians second.
The West is, by House seats, underrepresented by 11 seats. The West has a greater population than Quebec, but 11 fewer seats. Dion isn’t interested in these Western seats; he’ll ‘allow’ the CPC to have them.
What his words today and tomorrow are about, is a direct propaganda tactic to Quebec. Quebec, after all, has only ONE agenda. Maintaining its high living ultra socialist lifestyle – which it can’t afford – but which it insists the ROC pay for. Dion is saying – I’ll get the money from Alberta. That, after all, is what Quebec wants.
He’s saying that as well, to the latte crowd in Toronto – their agenda is Get the Evil Capitalists, aka free enterprise, aka, Alberta.
Dion’s agenda is Votes in Quebec and Votes in Ontario’s Latte Land. To do that, he’s showing How Strict he’ll get with Alberta. He’ll show those free-living, easy money, good for nothing Albertans – with all their money which just comes oozing up from the ground without a speck of work on their part. He, Dion The Magnificent, will show them.
He’ll take their money. And give it to Quebec.
    So there.
Dion isn’t interested in votes in Alberta. His whole trip is about Confronting the Free-loading West..Showing them Who is Boss – and..getting Votes, Votes, Votes – in vote-rich Quebec and Toronto.

  22. hargrove permanently lost ALL credibility with his infamous comment about ‘strategic’ voting in the martin loss.
the ONLY time you employ strategic voting is in highly selective and rarely used circumstances like by-elections where the outcome determines things like which party is opposition.
NOT on a grand scale for an entire friggin election; the thing will snowball and the party on the losing end will continue to languish due to continually losing by margins.
then again that might be a good way to keep the stake in the heart of the opportunistic socialist beast.

  23. kingstonlad; I have read your comments for quite some time on SDA and they are thoughtful and thought provoking. Please bear in mind that western folk have a long memory and no reflection on yourself but should dion or any other eastern political group want to step on our toes, nice won’t cut it. The east is pushing things past the tipping point and the liberals don’t seem to grasp the fact that possibly the future of Canada as we know it is in the balance. I am a big fan of PMSH and in his riding so I do not say this lightly but should ROC try again to grab the oil. BYE!

  24. Interesting comments in G&M re Dion’s big splash/crash in Alta.so telling, are remarks by one Jason Green (who I think is reg.at Cherniaks weep and wail site)
Quote:This (speech),might cost Dion votes in Alta.Wait a minute,no it won’t.Because Alberta makes Stalinist Russia look good in it’s uniformity to the Party doctorine, voting for the one party state(conservatives),with a uniformity that is quite frankly, chilling to the rest of Canada!
Shawn responds:Jason, kinda like TO,and the liberals.
My favorite line out of them all:I thot Alberta was “rat free..what was Dion doing there?
Kate, time to take out the trash..I see we have freaks from hate-central on board tonite!

Besides the title of a post that I wrote do you have any evidence to back this libelous claim?”
As has been already pointed out Robert….your own writing speaks for itself. I think your most “famous” quote was something along the lines of “Fuck the Jews” right? I think you posted those words…shortly after you spray-painted that multi-cult slogan on the side of a synagogue right?
Forgiver Robert McLelland folks….he’s torn. He can’t decide what he hates more….Jews or Americans. In that respect…he’s a lot like Neil McDonald of the CBC.

  26. remember, one of the librano tactics is divide and conquer…all conservatives, east and west, must stay united in the fight against librano arrogance….citoyen dion is hoping for any kind of reaction from the west…fires up his base down here in la-la land

  27. I will never vote for the NDP Federally. And I have no idea if Greenhouse gases are causing “some” of the climate changes we’re seeing. Regardless, we could use a cleaner environment and air. It costs us quite a bit to treat people with environmental illnesses. But I do think the cost of cleaning up pollution should be spread equally. No industry should be immune. Whether it’s cars or oil sands.
    Les

  28. The comment about strategic voting was dead-on. The only time I can recall where it ever would have helped was the time Sheila Copps ran in that by-election. Had everyone else but the NDP candidate dropped out, Sheila would have lost her seat. Other than that, “strategic” voting is for wise fools.

  29. Simple, just charge Arnold more. Where else will he get it ?? Iraq ??
What is sicking is the glee in the globe’s tone. Jealous, jealous, jealous.
Remember Globy, Sask has oil, NFLD has oil, and BC has oil. Not just Alberta.

  30. From ” The Mangler ” (Stephan Dion ) at the Calgary Town Hall “……. Canada needs more Group Actions ….” , after much hyper-ventilating from both crowd and dignitaries , and a thankfully nearby translator for the Dion impaired , it was quickly determined he meant ” Participaction ” . He was actually trying to talk about youth fitness , social justice , and blah , blah , blah . Freudian slip ? Who knows ?

  31. “Canada’s leading online anti-semitic community ”
Yeesh, I know your hard drive just crashed, and you’re buried in snow, but didn’t you cross the line with the snippy comment?

  32. Thank God Buzz spoke, maybe he can bring all the dippers an Liebrals together in one place an We can bring our illegal guns to bear(OOPS they already dun dat)Luv ta see the leftyies in a snit.An now the greenies are crowdin ’em love it.

  33. Well, he did it again, isulted our premier, re the fund raiser that was cancelled. He asked all those at his meeting if the had paid their 5000.00. He should know the money from and for liberals is passed secretly in brown paper bags. The question that should have been asked, how much did you get paid from the liberals to attend. Probably lots of homeless there to get warm. Re Arnold visiting Canada. Would love to be a fly on the wall if he tries to talk to dion. For a state that wont allow oil production, will he demamd Iraq stop emmitting green house gas also. As for the other provinces with oil, why haven’t they developed it. Someone should tell him what the eastern provinces had to pay for imported oil when the nep was in place, and they boycotted our oil. What will he do when the media and democrats make sure the US lose the war in Iraq, and they are cut off of the oil supply from there for revenge.
I hope some of the posters from Calgary went to hear dion, and give us the truth, not what the cbc says. I don’t think he made any friends out here or gained any votes. Probably lost some, as some of those oil execs are liberals.

  34. Saskboy,
Who do you think deserves the title of “Canada’s leading online anti-semitic community”?

  35. I, for one, have no problems with Arnie (California) dictating terms for their business. It will be real interesting to see how this plays out for electricity.
A BTW: California produces more CO2 than Canada.
Another BTW: Alberta also produces light crude … oil sands were 42% of Alberta’s production in 2005

  36. Buzz is like a Bee, buzzing from one Lefty honey pot to the other.
He was in adoration of Paul Martin the Younger. In the dying days of the Younger’s reign he fitted him with the Union leather jacket, alas the kiss of death.
If this site is becoming a “pigsty” it’s because McClelland keeps visiting and leaving big piles of excrement.
