I, For One, Welcome Our New Self-Driving Overlords

On Aug. 26, 2020, a Nash County deputy and a trooper with the Highway Patrol were on the side of Highway 64 near mile marker 440 while responding to a previous crash when the Tesla slammed into the deputy’s cruiser, the Highway Patrol said. […] The Highway Patrol said the Tesla’s driver admitted he was watching a movie on his phone while the car was on auto-pilot when the collision occurred.

Ottawa Update

I’m not going to bother linking to anything here just some quick notes on what I’ve seen this morning. None of which comes from what would be considered normal or necessarily reliable sources. As much as we don’t like social media that’s how everyone on the ground is getting their message out and communicating with each other. A lot of these guys have never used any of it before and they’re learning on the go.  And its actually working really well.

Looks like the cops got a couple of slip tanks and some jerry cans. A couple of pickup trucks got towed for having slip tanks on them. Nothing major. The new rule is if you have the paperwork to prove you’re a trucker you can transport fuel to your own vehicle but not to someone else’s. A campaign has started to get everyone on the hill to carry an empty jerry can with them at all times. Let the cops figure out which ones have fuel.

There was a show of force by police. Estimate was up to 100 officers in one group. They got their photo-op for the corporate press. Looks great on TV but it had no real impact. Everyone is still there.

Word on the street is that the goal for the police is to get everyone out of there today, clean things up tomorrow and have parliament resume on Wednesday.  To which I say good luck.

Morale amongst the protesters is high.

Again take everything I just wrote here with a grain of salt. Its a fluid situation and good intel is hard to come by in the heat of the moment.

Trucker fund is up to $4.5 million USD this morning.

GoFundMe scrambles to reverse one of the worst corporate blunders in tech history.

The update we issued earlier enabled all donors to get a refund and outlined a plan to distribute remaining funds to verified charities selected by the Freedom Convoy organizers. However, due to donor feedback, we are simplifying the process for you. We will automatically refund your contributions directly – you do not need to submit a request. You can expect to see your refund within 7-10 business days.

As the country’s shipbuilding strategy continues to pile up billions of dollars in extra costs to taxpayers, Public Services and Procurement Canada is quietly seeking what it calls influencers to push out social media messages that the program is a success.

The federal government’s National Shipbuilding Strategy, which will see the construction of new vessels for the Canadian navy and coast guard, has skyrocketed in cost and various projects are facing delays expected to further drive up the price tag.

“We are asking for your help in promoting the values, benefits and impacts of the Strategy by amplifying our campaign messages on your social media channels and throughout your networks,” the Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) recruitment document for social media influencers noted.

Consider it amplified, you dumb socksuckers.

Tech Haz The Sadz

I work in Big Tech. A name you would know and have probably used before. Wanted to give a rundown of what it’s like from the inside right now.

Obviously insanely radically leftwing. BLM/LGBTQ. Trans flags hanging in office. Pronouns stated before meetings. Special affiliation groups for everyone but white men. All what you’d expect.

But COVID/WFH has totally broken people. They are fundamentally weak, often with no social support outside of work. They’re the people with no children, no spouse. Only a dog or cat for emotional support.

There’s constant talk, even now, about how hard things are for everyone. Often meetings start with going around the room to ask “How is everyone feeling?” Literally everyone else went on sad rants about their lives. “I’m so MAD a white supremacist shot 3 black men in Kenosha!”

It’s toxic. When it got to me, I said “Good.” and then a (((lady engineer))) literally proposed that we should not be allowed to answer the question positively. I shit you not. I think it hurt her that I wasn’t as miserable as her.

“Good.”

Do read on. There’s a big red warning siren for tech investors in there.

The Wisconsin Purchase;

What happened in 2020 involved a highly coordinated and privately funded “shadow campaign” for Joe Biden that took place within the formal structure of the election system itself. Through the injection of over $419 million of Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan’s money, laundered through the Center for Technology and Civic Life (CTCL) and the Center for Election Innovation and Research (CEIR), the professional left presided over a targeted, historically unprecedented takeover of government election offices by nominally nonpartisan, but demonstrably ideological, nonprofit organizations and activists in key areas of swing states such as Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

Our research shows that CTCL spending in Wisconsin generated enough votes for Joe Biden to secure him an Electoral College win there in 2020. We estimate that CTCL spending in Wisconsin purchased Joe Biden an additional 65,222votes,without which Donald Trump would have won the state by 44,540 votes.

More Shoving aside repeated liberal media dismissals of cheating claims, those who believe it occurred increased from 56% in October to 59% in the latest Rasmussen Reports poll previewed for Secrets.

Put your trust in technology: Équité Association has issued this year’s list of top stolen vehicles

In fact, a vehicle without a theft-deterrent system didn’t hit the list until number 24: a 2006 Ford F350 SD 4WD, 90 of which were taken this year. They also break down the lists by region. More pickups are stolen in Alberta because more pickups live in Alberta. You get all the way to the 33rd spot in that province to find 18 missing 2014 Ford Escapes — before the pickupfest continues. These lists used to be a podge of easily-taken vehicles that lacked modern theft deterrents, or expensive SUVs that were being stolen to order, often by crime syndicates. That has rapidly evolved into lists dominated by newer vehicles, as sophisticated thieves outsmart the most advanced systems. […]

We’ve been telling you for years now that it’s easy to intercept the signal from your fob (that is safely inside your home) with a hacking device, open and start the car and drive away. Gast suggests keeping fobs in a Faraday-type pouch or box — or even a metal box. You can source them at many places, but he emphasizes that the market is flooded with fake merchandise. Amazon is a terrible gatekeeper, so (wait for it), do your research.

Signal jamming is so 2019, however. Now, they’re simply cracking into the onboard diagnostics port (ODP) attached to your wiring harness and coding a new fob, and taking off. You are left standing there clutching a useless fob that no longer is associated with your car. This solved their problem of having a car they couldn’t turn off or that was driven out of range of the original fob.

Gast says he’s back to recommending the Club steering wheel lock devices that my Dad was so enamoured with to protect his Mercury Topaz in 1985.

h/t Colonialista – Oh, they’re gonna hate their new rules”

Twitter acknowledged on Friday that a new policy it unveiled this week to protect users from harassment is being abused by malicious actors — days after journalists, left-wing activists and self-described “sedition hunters” reported their accounts had been locked for sharing publicly available images of anti-maskers, anti-vaccine protesters and suspected Capitol insurrectionists.

The acknowledgment highlights how Twitter has been caught flat-footed by what it described in a statement as “a significant amount of coordinated and malicious” activity that led to “several errors” in Twitter’s enforcement.
“We’ve corrected those errors and are undergoing an internal review to make certain that this policy is used as intended — to curb the misuse of media to harass or intimidate private individuals,” Twitter said.

Unveiled on Tuesday, Twitter’s new policy prohibits the sharing of images of private individuals without those people’s consent. The rule was created, Twitter initially said, in a bid to prevent its platform from being abused to harass and intimidate people, particularly women, activists and minorities.

But right-wing groups and anti-mask activists have quickly determined that the new Twitter policy offers an opportunity to strike back at those who might draw attention to their real-world identities. And in a matter of days, they established a coordinated campaign to flood Twitter with complaints that left-wing activists, Jan. 6 investigators and journalists covering rallies have published their faces without consent in violation of the new rule.

In January, Samuel Braslow was covering an anti-mask protest at a Los Angeles mall for the Beverly Hills Courier, the 56-year-old local newspaper where he is a staff reporter. During the public event, Braslow tweeted a video of a standoff between anti-maskers and a mall official — a common practice in the age of digital reporting.
Braslow couldn’t have known that, this week, someone would file a report about that same photojournalism and cause Twitter to lock down his account. The complaint led to Braslow being unable to tweet until he either successfully appealed the report or deleted the old tweets. He was stuck.

Good work, lads.
